• Staff was very accomodating and eager to please.
• The Luxury King room wasn't worth the extra money.

“I booked the "Luxury King" room and it wasn't worth the extra money. There was lipstick on the coffee mugs and the coffee pot itself was filthy and smelled. I think having a coffee pot in an area of the room where someone uses the toilet was disgusting in and of itself. There should be a wall between the two.”

• Good location in a good area.
• Got smoking room first night because of availability. Room odor was pretty bad, ice machine on level was not working.

“Good hotel. Hotel was in good condition and room was fine. Best was the mattress and air conditioning which was quiet and comfortable.”

• Location was close to mtn and downtown - also had vintage Holiday Inn sign.
• I don't think the manager liked that they gave a PL customer a King N/S room.

• Walking distance to shops and restaurants.
• Some renovations (painting) impacted first impression inside.

“Overall it was a great experience. The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. We asked for a bit of a late check out and they obliged with no hesitation.”

• Location was extremely convenient for the reason of my visit.
• The carpet around the air conditioner was wet. Don't know if it had leaked or not.

• Dirty carpets, disturbing and drunken bar patrons in lobby.

“We would never recommend this hotel to anyone. We have actually had bad experiences at Holiday Inns in the past year and would not recommend Holiday Inns to our friends.”

“The hotel is beginning to show its age with minor cracks and blemishes in the interior lobby and room facade. Room was good sized but the beds were not terribly comfortable. Decent serviceable hotel for business travelers looking for a short stay.”

• Bed and room were okay for a two star.
• Obviously not a well kept property.

“Got of the elevator, the hallway smelled strongly of diesel fuel, sour soda, and another chemical. Carpet was beyond dirty, nasty! Front desk just nodded in agreement when I mentioned it. No liner for ice bucket, yet trash cans have liners. Broken bedside lamp switch. Ice machine located on another wing. Kids were playing in exercise room at 11:30 PM. Water damage evident on two walls of room. Window type AC made too much noise. Room was clean, bed comfortable, typical Holiday Inn decor. Will not stay here again. Better options available.”

• Everything was great, the room was clean, spacious, and had all the extras.
• Parking was mildly inconvenient, but not to the detriment of our stay.

• It was near the highway we needed to be on.
• The hotel was old and it showed. The ceiling above the shower was moldy. The curtains were broken and would not close.

“There is no way this hotel be 3-star. It looked old from the outside and it was obviously old on the inside. The room wasn't very comfortable, the linens on the beds were old, the curtains wouldn't close to keep the very bright light outside our window out, and the ceiling in the shower was moldy. When I selected 3-star, I expect a fresh and clean hotel, not an old, moldy place. It was the worst hotel I stayed at on a 2-week long road trip.”

• Do they ever run a vacuum? Ever?

“Unquestionably the most horrible hotel experience in my life. It is so dirty, run down, unkempt and the rooms smell of insect spray. The place is simply awful. Do not stay there.”

• They printed out directions to the wedding for us.
• It was a little out of the way (though not that bad).

• Although there were several problems the staff attempted to accommodate.
• Stains on carpet, poor maintenance and upkeep, business center had poor functioning and equipment broken.

• Fridge and microwave in every room.
• Morning airport shuttle didn't start till 7:00am.

“I was very impressed with this hotel! Check-in was very fast, and the staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The hotel looks like it has been recently remodeled. All the rooms have a fridge and a microwave. I will definitely stay here again!”

• My family enjoyed the pool and the comfort of the beds.
• The breakfast buffet could have been fresher, considering the price.

“Second hotel the auction system picked for us in Roanoke; perhaps we're a bit negative here because the first was just dynamite. You probably wont be disappointed though. Indian guy in breakfast room does a great job.”

“The hotel area was nice but my room was not clean at all. The bathroom floor was dirty and the tub was not clean. My bed spread smelled very awful I would not go to the hotel again.”

• The hotel was conveniently located near food, shopping and fun.
• The parking was limited near your entrance on a busy weekend.

“The hotel over all was great. It was clean, the staff were friendly, the room was big, had a microwave and a refrigerator. The only thing I didn't like, was on a busy weekend, there was limited parking near an entrance they recommended you use because of the way the hotel is located on a hill. But other then that, it was a wonder located place to stay.”

• We had trouble finding it a few times.

“We were very pleasantly surprised at how pleasant and comfortable the whole environment was, I particularly like the large bathroom with space for all my things. We had trouble getting lost but we had never been to Roanoke before.”

• Location is great! Shopping/movies nearby. Quiet.
• Towels and bedding are the thin old style. Need an upgrade! Not accommodating on late check out request.

“Nice hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel needs some upgrades before it will be considered a really nice holiday inn. The a/c unit was noisy and hard to control the temp. Our room had a microwave and fridge which was wonderful. The towels are the thin hard old style towels. The bedding is the old style also. Small pitiful pillows. My husband and I requested a late check out. The front desk would only let us have 30 minutes past the normal check out time.”

• Great location, easy check-in.
• Loud patrons hanging out at the pool after 9 p.m.

“Great value for the location and amenities. Short distance to downtown and civic center. Easy to get in and out of hotel and easy to find. Have access to wireless internet in the room. Overall, good bang for the buck.”

“For the price we were very satisfied. It was a great location for where we needed to be. Also there's a great Mexican restaurant down the street - El Toreo, neat atmosphere, and terrific food.”

• It was very well located, well lit.
• No microwave or refrigerator, parking was not good

“It was adequate. A place to get a snack would have been helpful. The restaurant was only open till 10. We had to get in the car to get anything after that time. Such as pie or ice cream.”
