• Friendly staff, location, I didn't eat at the hotel.
• Parking was high.

“Very lovely room. My wife had her hair styled and manicure. The staff at the salon were very friendly and she enjoyed the stylist. He kept her interest and talked about the city and told us about the sites we should see. Very friendly and social able.”

• Comfortable beds.
• No drink machine on the floor.

“Seems geared to the business traveler. Rooms are comfortable and staff is very professional. Sound insulation could be improved. When you walk down the halls, you could hear everything (including some passionate activities) going on in the rooms.”

• Completely non-smoking
• Parking was inconvenient if you didn't use valet.

“Hotel is just outside the downtown area but still convenient to walk to destinations. Staff was very friendly and helpful, room was clean and comfortable. Lack of convenient self-parking is slight problem.”

• On the edge of the business district. Had to walk a bit.

“Excellent hotel room. I did not spend much time at the hotel other than to sleep. The public spaces were clean and attractive. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet.”

• I liked the location.
• Didn't like having to pay for parking when you already pay to stay at facility.

• Entrance to hotel from shared hotel parking was not secure.

“Entrance the hotel was clean and neat. I liked the complementary coffee that was provided in the hotel restaurant.
Door from the shared parking lot did not close so that there was no security, even though there was a slot for your door key.”

• Good location for Mellon arena, excellent if you're Marriott Gold for free upgrade.

• I was overwhelmed with the service that was offered from the complete staff, I was there to prepare funeral arrangements for my grandmother.
• That the parking situation was as such.

“The overall experience was excellent. I could see the Civic Arena or should I say the Mellon Arena. The beautiful lights of Pittsburgh, and just an overall view of such a beautiful city. I would recommend the Marriott Gateway of Pittsburgh to all who need a place to stay.”

• Room was very clean.
• Had to pay for parking.

“Room was clean, view was good. No fridge or microwave in the room. No hot tub in the pool area. Bathroom does have a blow dryer-it's located in the cubby hole under the sink. Parking is somewhat expensive 24.00 for the valet, 16.25 for self park with no in and out.”

• We were placed in a room near one with prior water damage and workers were going in and out of the other room creating noise.

“This is a really nice hotel with good food available. The lobby is rather plain and old looking but I don't spend time there anyway. The parking is expensive. They need new hair dryers. Comfortable bed.”

• Very clean, outstanding location, easy to get to.
• It was very hard to get hot water in late morning.

“The hotel was immaculate. The staff was friendly, and the room was very clean. The bathrooms are a bit small, but they do the job. The room was of a good size, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The back side of the hotel doesn't have the best view, but we weren't there to stay in our room anyway. There is a Starbucks connected to the office complex that is easy to get to off the lobby. An excellent experience.”

• Great location and proximity to downtown attractions.
• Poor water temperature and pressure. Poor television.

“Overall, it was a very nice stay. Clean room, bathroom and public spaces. The staff were very nice. Great location. Only negative was poor reception on the TV and a very cold, drizzly shower.”

• This hotel was awful. Room air compressor was so loud I didn't sleep the entire night.

“This hotel experience was the worst I've ever had. I arrived dog tired very late at night traveling with my elderly mother. The air compressor in the room was so noisy, I didn't sleep the entire night. Couldn't move because my mother had taken sleeping medications as soon as we arrived. Staff was less than sympathetic.”

• Large cookies were on the front desk that we enjoyed when we checked in!
• The bathroom was barely big enough for 2 people to be in it at the same time.

“Overall we had a wonderful experience at the Marriott Pittsburgh City Center. The location is convenient to the Mellon arena and a short walk to the cultural district with many cute bars/restaurants. The staff was all very friendly and my husband enjoyed chatting with the restaurant staff about the penguin’s game. It was a very nice and romantic getaway for my husband and I! We even used the free shuttle service and the driver was also very friendly and helpful in suggesting places to go!”

• Parking garage was nice. Staff was friendly. Beds were comfy. Free internet.
• Lacking fridge and microwave.

“The rooms are clean with comfortable beds, however they lack a fridge or a microwave. The free internet worked well using the Ethernet cable supplied in our room. The location is nice for partying downtown, we were within walking distance of many attractions. There is a parking garage that enters directly into the hotel, it was nice avoiding the cold weather that way.”

• The shuttle driver was very pleasant and went above and beyond.
  
• The bathroom was too small.

“Very nice large room, with chair and loveseat and desk. The only drawback was that by making the room so spacious and giving you a large closet for use that the bathroom was barely large enough to turn around in.

• The health club was very nice and they offered cold water.
• The lobby is a bit small.

• The value for the stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. Great view of the city. Feah baked cookies was a nice touch. Apples in the morning. Newspaper.
• The parking cost was not included. The TV reception could have been better with more channels.

“Overall 9 out of 10. We felt welcomed and not pressured to tip everyone. Especially the valet but we did anyway. The location was great but the cost of parking really added up which I was not expecting. I have already recommended this hotel to my friends and family. It was a great experience.”

“My family and I stayed at the Marriott Pittsburgh for a weekend getaway. The staff could not be friendlier and their was a Starbucks attached so my wife was happy. The only complaint was the size of the room and the view of the roof outside my window. I would stay there again though just based on how the staff treated us.”

• The linens and amenities were luxurious.
• A very loud room in a high traffic area when the hotel was no where near full.

“Hotel is lovely and the rooms are beyond comfortable. The parking is adequate, although having to pay for parking is a hassle. Room service was late and we were still charged even though they offer on time or it is free.”

• The hotel was beautiful on the outside and lobby area.
• Our room was dirty and very dusty, the only thing that appeared clean was the bed.

“I loved the city of Pittsburgh, so to say anything negative about anything there is hard, but this is a upscale hotel, and I was really disappointed at how dirty the room was and the noise level in the room. There was a dust/dirt ring around the entertainment stand/ dresser. The desk was dirty, there were dirty coffee cups that were stuck to the tray it was on, we were disappointed there was no refrigerator. Honestly I really expected more, but the lobby and other parts of the hotel besides the room were lovely.”

• The lobby area felt cramped and claustrophobic.

“This is a beautiful hotel in downtown Pittsburgh. The rooms are more than comfortable, and whether you are in Pittsburgh to relax or to work, the accommodations aid you in either capacity. As most everything in downtown Pittsburgh is accessible by foot or public transit, the hotel isn't situated in the best place to get to a helpful sidewalk or Subway station. That having been said, it is still not far to any place that one might need to go downtown. Overall, I highly enjoyed my stay, and would certainly recommend this hotel.”

• Clean, comfortable, good location, good service. Excellent valet parking operation.
• Dirty room service tray left in hall for almost 24 hours.

“Clean, efficient, competent business hotel. Good workout facilities if a bit small for a hotel of this size. Very close to Downtown Pittsburgh but somewhat isolated by roads and architecture, thus not really pedestrian-friendly. Friendly, competent staff and good valet parking operation.”

“The Marriott Pittsburgh City Center Hotel is somewhat disappointing. I was accosted by a homeless man in the lobby asking for money. I did not feel secure. The parking fee is simply outrageous. The hotel itself is not in an exactly prime location. While the staff was generally quite helpful, I never felt overly welcome. Overall a mediocre experience.”

“If I would've known how hard it was to get around town and how outrageously the parking was priced I never would have chosen the area. The hotel was more like the one in the commercial where every time you tried to talk there was construction noise interfering. Never again, can't there be some kind of way put in place to avoid such hotels?”
