- The location was perfect, the staff was excellent, the bar/restaurant was really fun.
- I was disappointed in the room itself, for the price I thought it would be more luxurious.
“All in all, it was a great experience. the hotel staff was so nice, I think we enjoyed them the most. I was not that thrilled with the room, it was comfortable, but the furnishings left a lot to be desired. I did not feel like lounging in that room. Also, a decent iron and ironing board would have been nice, the one I had was terrible. The bathroom, while neat and clean, was not in scale with the cost of the room, again, I thought it should have been more luxurious.”

- Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful: front desk, concierge, bell hop, shuttle driver, even valet!
- Though convenient, not the prettiest area of town - should improve when nearby construction is complete.

“I really liked this hotel very clean and comfortable. It is in walking distant to many attractions. Very friendly staff too. Only thing I did not like was having to pay to park in the parking garage.”

- Nice lobby. Front desk personnel friendly for the most part.
- Old dirty chewing gum on the bathroom floor. Remote control broken, had new one sent up, broken also.

- The bed linens were sparkling white!
- The seafood restaurant was too pricey $200.00 for 3 adults 1 child and not very good.
“The room itself was superb. To be more specific the grout work in the sink and tub could be bleached along with the stainless mirror frame could use a polish. The restaurant was a joke I have dined at numerous sushi places and this was not at all authentic, get a real sushi chef if you are going to charge that much!”

- Excellent downtown location and helpful concierge.
- Staff demanded that my son had not request an autograph from a pro baseball player who was also a guest in the hotel.
“We had a great time at the Westin Pittsburgh. Our family had never been to the city before and the staff sent us to the best places in the city for fun and good food. We walked to Heinz field and PNC park, great places for sports fans. Penn restaurant was excellent! Go Randy land!”

“The hotel was very average in every way. Our room did not have any of the heavenly features of which Westin boasts. Our bathroom was ordinary and we were given two twin beds (I didn't even know that hotels had twin beds). Staff was not friendly or helpful. For the price and the Westin name, we were very disappointed, however, the hotel was clean and in a good location.”

- The head bellhop was incredibly helpful. The concierge was seldom on duty, but the bellhop gave us great directions and assistance three times.
- Mess in the bathroom that was not cleaned up after two complaints!
“What a disappointment! My new wife and I had planned our honeymoon around a couple of Cardinals - Pirates baseball games and were delighted that we were upgraded to a 4 star hotel. Everything went well until, at bed time, we noticed someone's beard trimmings around the hot water handle of the bathroom faucet. The next morning we stopped by the front desk to complain. They offered to move us, but it was a top floor room with a great view of PNC Park, the Alleghany River and numerous bridges, so we declined. We just asked that it be cleaned. We returned to find a made up room. We complained again in person at the front desk, as before. We were asked if we'd received the complimentary silver package. We didn't understand, but they were supposed to leave some goodies for us when they cleaned the room. There were no goodies, however. We were assured the stubble would be cleaned. We returned to get ready for the Saturday ballgame to find that the stubble wasn't cleaned but the silver package was right there next to the coffee maker! At that point, we decided to not bother with another appeal to the desk. Instead, we took pictures and will be sending them to the Westin corporate offices.”

- Close to Mellon arena.
- I rented 2 rooms, the room I personally stayed in the bathroom smelled like sewer and the bathtub was stopped up. Also there was no parking.
“The room was overpriced. The bathtub was stopped up and the bathroom smelled up sewer. The hotel was very close to the Mellon Arena. There was no parking and this is a hotel that is in the middle of the city, so where do they expect you to park? I paid enough for the rooms that I should have had a place to park my car!”

- Location was very good; we were there for the Bon Jovi concert, close to arena.
- My sleep was interrupted all night long by noise from the hall and other rooms.

“My stay was tainted by two things: - My flight was canceled so I had to go a day later still had to pay for the room. Room was poorly cleaned/maintained for the star level. I expected that when I gave specific instructions to the front desk to address, the issues would be resolved but they weren't. Things like old cigarettes and someone's prescription medication waiting for me in my non-smoking room when I arrived and paint chips that were falling on me in the shower. There were probably positive things about the stay, but I couldn't overlook the negatives.”

- Although a non smoking hotel, the room smelled strongly of smoke - either from years as a smoking room or a prior guest who broke the rules.

“The Fish Market is an outstanding place to eat but the temporary location of the Orchard Cafe and the lack of a casual lounge was disappointing. The Hotel is a very nice facility and measures up to the star rating. Parking is convenient but no "in and out" privileges if you self park seem unaccommodating.”

- I most enjoyed leaving once they sopped lying and found our truck.
- Everything except the exits.
“I think the Westin should be stripped of all its stars, and do you know the best part is leaving. I stayed there for a week and there was one time were the elevators worked, and the same trash set there everyday. We stayed in a non smoking room and there was cigarette burns on my bed cover. And by the end of the week they ended up giving us all of our money back. Well there is plenty more, but I certainly don't OW you any more of my time.”

- It was attractive; good location.
- Half of the appliances were unplugged, my internet hook up didn't work, and there was no robe in the room.
“The staff was great, but I was really ticked that I had to use the business center to do my email at their exorbitant rates. They never got my internet connection in my room right. And the phones didn't work either (that did get fixed). And the clock radio, several lights, the refrigerator and the coffee maker were all unplugged. I got the clock and light by the bed plugged in, but no way was I moving the fridge.”

- The room itself had a very nice king bed, great pillows, and good bedding.
- The service was not good. I asked three times for a corkscrew and waited over an hour.
“This may be a good hotel for business travelers. It's also fine okay for leisure travelers. The lobby is small and not very welcoming. Few chairs to sit and wait or read. In our experience, the service was not so good: we had to ask for a corkscrew three times and wait over an hour to have one delivered. That's not luxury-hotel service, to say the least. Thus we had to wait too long to have a glass of wine after dinner (from their room bar). The hotel restaurant was ok, but way overpriced, and the service there was not top quality, despite the prices. The neighborhood at night was not very comfortable; we went for a walk looking for a restaurant, found nothing special, and rushed back to the hotel. I love Pittsburgh a lot, but this hotel didn't help impress my wife with the city at all.”

“Clean, comfortable, conveniently located. In actuality it seemed more like a 3 star hotel. Nice, but not at all luxurious. The guest services book included a list of personal items that were available to guests upon request; however, none of the 3 items we requested were in stock.”

- Great experience, great location for all downtown attractions.
- Convention center activity was a bit much.

- Location was great, spacious rooms, nice bar/restaurant, and courtesy van.
- Hard to get people to call you a cab over to you, when cabs were across the street.
“Great hotel, beautiful building, bathroom could be updated. Some tile was loose. Staff was nice, but seemed not interested in getting you a cab when you needed one. Recommend this hotel to anyone.”

- Front desk staff was not helpful.

- Very clean and friendly atmosphere, and beautiful.
- No parking validated.
“The hotel was beautiful and convenient to arrive too. The people are friendly and helpful. It was what I expected. The parking for guests should be validated. Other than that it was to my liking.”
