• The location was convenient.
• The room was small, the heating unit barely worked.

“The heating unit in the first room was unbearably loud and we had to move. The bathroom in the second room was amazingly small. We had to ask for an extra chair, the armchair was missing. The heating unit was so inefficient that even with 40-50 F outside it had to run continuously just to keep the temperature constant at around 72F. I don't even want to imagine how it would be to spend a night there when it's below 32F outside.”

“The hotel is beautiful with very large rooms. It has a nice family and friendly bar. The staff is friendly and helpful. We prefer to stay here when visiting Pittsburgh.”

• Historical luxury provides unique experience to traveler.
• Small bathroom.

“Hotel is extremely well situated - only a 15 minute walk from major Pittsburgh attractions. We were fortunate to be in a high room with view to the front. It was fantastic ! Room is spacious but bathroom small. Met our expectations of a 4-star hotel. Staff was helpful, courteous, and very friendly. Our kids had a blast.”

• Cigarette smoke on a non-smoking floor.

“Although I requested a non-smoking room in advance, there was a definite odor of cigarette smoke on my floor. Although my room did not smell smoky, a definite smoke smell began seeping in from the hallway as the evening wore on. When I called the front desk to inquire as to whether or not smoking was allowed on the 16th floor, I was assured it was not, though the smoke smell was obvious in the hallway.”

• The lobby was fantastic with coffee shop attached. The atmosphere had a old luxury feel with all the modern bells and whistles in a great city.
• Nothing bad to say.

• Beautiful, friendly staff.

“Beautiful, especially the lobby. The main restaurant was closed. Had to wait a long time for a cab, finally had to just take our car out of the garage - not sure if the valet worker could have done more for us or not. Staff overall very friendly. Room service glasses were in the hall waiting for pickup for over 24 hours, and our robes did not appear in our rooms until we returned from going out for dinner, so after we would have used them. We stayed on labor day evening, and nothing was open, including the hotel restaurant. We had to drive to a neighboring part of town to get something to eat- the concierge never figured out where we could eat aside from some Pittsburgh landmarks that were too casual (and greasy) for what we were looking for.”

• Beautiful hotel, very comfortable. Within walking distance of many downtown sites.
• Room-size was somewhat small but still very comfortable.

“The hotel was elegant! We found it to be very clean and comfortable although the room was somewhat small. The staff was friendly and the concierge was very helpful. The Sunday Brunch at the Terrace Restaurant within the hotel is not to be missed.”

• Clean and big rooms. Good location.
• Toilet,
  very weak flush. Hotel security not around.

“Rooms were clean and very sizeable. I would definitely stay here again. The toilet in this room was very weak. It wasn't a huge problem since we only stayed here for one night. But the maintenance guy had to come once and the toilet wasn't working by the next morning. Also there were people smoking pot on the floor. I guess nobody complained since hotel security was not around.”

• I liked the price.
• They nickle and dime you for incidentals.

“Great location in Pittsburgh, but there are far better restaurants nearby. Also, don't use the room phone for calling long distance. We had to check on the kids and because our cell phone was dead we were charged two dollars per minute.”

• Historic.
• Not 4 star service.

“I was sent to a room that was occupied upon arrival. The occupant was upset and so was I. The hotel clerk laughed and just gave me another room. I think I along with the occupant should be upgraded or something.The room was just a room, not a 4 star hotel. Service in general was poor.”

• A beautiful historic hotel in downtown Pittsburgh, within walking distance of the Benedum and restaurants
• Swimming pool was advertised, but there was actually no pool.

“Beautiful, comfortable, historic...a great piece of Pittsburgh architecture that doubles as a great place to stay. Wonderful atmosphere, very classy, and extremely clean and well kept. It felt like we'd taken a step back in time. We would definitely stay again.”

• Very comfortable beds and very quiet.
• Parking fee a bit expensive $27 per day.

“The staff was extremely accommodating and very friendly. The biggest complaint I would have is the lay-out of the room made it a little difficult to maneuver around. The entrance door to the room was narrow and made it hard to get the luggage and wheelchair in and out of the room. But, I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.”

• Beautiful rooms, excellent location.
• Small TVs in huge room. Bad internet room.

“Overall a better than average hotel. I loved the huge rooms, but considering the size of the rooms they should have had bigger TVs. I was probably laying 15 feet away from a 32 inch TV. Also, it was ridiculous that you had to pay to use the internet and to even print pages such as map quest.”

• Loved the character/age.
• Bathroom was a little small. Parking was a pain (having to pay every-time I came and went. Instead of 14 for the night, I paid 21 because I left twice.

“This hotel captures your attention immediately upon arrival with a beautifully elegant lobby. The staff was wonderful. They were helpful at the desk, upgraded our room because it was our anniversary. We even found a bottle of sparkling wine when we returned for the evening. The room, especially the bed, was great (even a nice view of the fountain/park across the street).”

“The hotel is beautiful, conveniently located and the staff is above any of my expectations. Our room had no view, it faced a brick wall, which was a downer, however we had a great LG flat screen TV and the room was very elegant. Queen size bed with down pillows and down comforters.”
