- Location and the main lobby.
- Starbucks was extremely busy in am. Meals were too high for families.
“It was nice but it felt really stiff. The staff at the front desk was very nice. Mainly I guess the restaurant was too expensive for families with teenagers. Starbucks was also expensive and crowded in the am we had to walk to McDonalds. We also found that there was not much to do (there was only the gym).”

- It is a beautiful hotel and has a great location to everything we wanted to see and do in Pittsburgh.
- The room was small and tight to get around in some areas and it had no view.

“The hotel has wonderful charm and character at a great location in the city. Found some cleanliness issues, for example, there was lipstick on one of the coffee cups. Some maintenance issues such as cracked tiles, loose fixtures, etc., but found that it added to the character of an older grand style hotel. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.”

- Our room was not cleaned/beds made.
“Nice hotel, but was extremely disappointed that at 9:30 on Friday evening, our room had no maid service. I called to complain, but they never offered to come up & take care of it. Matter of fact, they tried to put the blame on me by asking if I put the do not disturb sign on the door. That was impossible, since there no sign to be found. At 9:30 at night with a sick child who just wanted to get into bed, I was extremely disappointed.”

- It seemed to be in a nice area although I did not go out in that area.

“Our stay was not pleasant. We had to change rooms at midnight and were moved to a smaller room. The staff appear to be friendly, but when you ask them to do something it does not get done until you complain several times. Our TV was broken. We thought it was the remote so we asked for new batteries or a new remote. 6+ hours later we never got a new remote or batteries so we called again 2 more times. Finally maintenance came to bring a new remote which didn't work. The guy tried to fix the TV/remote but could not. He also found that the TV was not even showing the correct channels. The maintenance guy was 10 times more helpful than the front desk. He got us moved to another room and got us a free movie. Overall we were just not happy with the hotel and will not stay there again.”

- The staff was extremely professional, helpful and accommodating. The hotel was clean. The room was very comfortable.
- It would have been nice to have a 2 queens instead of 2 doubles. The bathroom was very small.

- The bedding was clean and upscale, they had a great coffee shop and WiFi area, staff was good and there were high quality amenities.
- Parking availability the cost for parking overnight with the hotel service is $26 per day too high for area.
“The room, bathroom and bedding was clean. The bedding was good quality all white and very clean. Decor in room was acceptable for star rating but the carpeting should be replaced soon. Staff was very cordial. Public areas were very nice due to being an old, grand hotel while at the same time had many updated amenities for; nail salon, Wi-Fi cafe, etc. room SVC excellent.”

- I loved the decor. It is absolutely beautiful.
- The location. It was too far in the city and it felt unsafe to walk at night.
“Absolutely beautiful. You feel like royalty when you walk through the door. The hotel staff is 100% accommodating and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. The restaurants were fabulous and the Starbucks in the lobby was very convenient. The only 2 downfalls are.1- there was no pool that I know of and 2- it is located in the city as opposed to the hotels that are on the waterfront. It felt a little unsafe to walk at nighttime. Overall, I loved it and would gladly stay there again.”

- The entire staff was so friendly and helpful. The hotel was centrally located from three major department stores and easy access to Station Square.
- There was no pool, which was upsetting to my five-year-old but we still managed to keep him entertained.

“The staff was really helpful. Right when we pulled in when the valet asked us if we wanted to valet for $26 a day or park in the structure across the street for $5. “I stayed at this hotel several years ago and the room, I stayed in, was 2 floors up. The door wouldn't close unless slammed, and at one point when I was in the shower, the door was open because it didn't latch. The comforter on the bed was stained. The stands in the room and in the bathroom were dusty. The bathroom sink drained when plug should have stopped it and in the shower it was the exact opposite. It wouldn't drain at all unless you held the plug up. The room temperature was uncomfortably warm because the air conditioner blew up the inside of the drapes instead of into the room. The ironing board had no cover on it, was hard to work, and was as old as the hotel. The key lock on the door sometimes took as many as 4 times to read my card. There were very few channels on TV to watch, anything besides that and you were forced to pay an extraordinary amount of money. Room service and the restaurants were outrageously priced, and to go 5 floors they charged $2.50 per order, as well as customary 19% gratuity. I would never recommend that a person stay at this hotel. I was the only guest on the floor for the first evening and saw room service cart in hall for hours before being retrieved. I had a miserable experience. Also! On the front side of this hotel is a park, where homeless people and rats have taken over. 7 years ago, this was a beautiful park with a fountain. I was frightened to go into that park. The park on the back side of the hotel was beautiful. Parking was to be paid by guest at a rate of $13.50 to $26.00+ a day depending on where you parked. I will not go back to this hotel.”

“The architecture of the William Penn reflects a grand, bygone era when such hotels were built as posh destinations and city landmarks. The hotel has a lot of character and class. Just by being in the lobby makes you feel like you have arrived at an exclusive place. The staff was informative and friendly and my room was clean and nicely decorated. There are many modern conveniences throughout the hotel, including wireless internet (free if you join Omni Select Guest). If you won't be driving your car much, I recommend self-parking in the parking garage over the valet parking which uses the same garage across the street - it's considerably cheaper, especially on weekends ($5.00 for 24 hours). I highly recommend this hotel!”

- It had history and charm. Fantastic location and inviting lobby. Staff was the friendliest I've come across.
- The valet parking area can get crowded and the windows are not very sound proof.
“It is in a wonderful location allowing the traveler to walk to most destinations. The staff was sincere, eager to help and very prompt. The public areas of the hotel were very inviting as evidenced by the numerous people lounging. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The only downside is that the valet parking area can get crowded and the windows do not block sound very well. Nevertheless, I would recommend the hotel and if I'm back in Pittsburgh, I intend to stay there again.”

“Awesome! The staff is very friendly. And pets are allowed too. I have a 19month Yorkie and he enjoyed the trip the most. Close to station square and other attractions will definitely stay here again.”

- The large rooms.
- No shuttle service.
“I arrived, and parked right in front of the hotel, wanting valet to take my car. There were three of them grouped together talking with one another. Finally, they acknowledged me as a guest at their hotel and helped me. I checked in and went to my room. The room was large, which I liked, but the bed was a Murphy bed and hard as a rock. There was plenty of seating in the room, and magazines on the coffee table to read. There were no light near the couch area, which made it hard to read the magazines. The bathroom was very spacious, the only down side was not much water pressure in the shower. The main reason I went up to Pittsburgh was to see the pirates play. There was no shuttle service offered, which made it an inconvenience for me and my wife. We had to walk to and from the ball park, which wasn't bad, but she was afraid walking in the city at night.”

- Very nice amenities. Also like the fact that I could park in the lot across the street for $5 per day on the weekend!
- Lack of restaurants on the weekend.
“Great hotel -especially for business. We were trying to find a restaurant open that we could walk to on a Sunday night and could not. The location was more of a business district than I thought it would be. Otherwise a great comfortable easy experience.”
