- The staff was extremely helpful.
- Lack of outlets in room, lighting and horrible odor from outdoors in lobby.
“We enjoyed our stay very much. The service was impeccable. They were more than willing to help with nay of our needs, including car service and extra toiletries. Our only complaint was the horrible odor from outside the main entrance that seeped into the hotel. Everybody was complaining. Other than that-it was excellent and we will be returning.”

- Room was not ready, maid service was slow.
“Our room was not ready they gave us another room. Room was not vacuumed properly, had to ask for more towels extra cup and glass. Workout room great, hot tub great, location great, doormen great. Weddings took precedence over other customers. Mattresses older that last time need to be replaced.”

- The general hotel staff was very friendly; hotel location fabulous, I went to the symphony Saturday night.
- Restaurant food was not very good and the server was very rude; I've stayed at this hotel several times before and restaurant is never good.

- The pianist in the lobby when we arrived was very nice.
- The lobby desk did not answer the phone on several attempts at 12am for a wake up call.
“A very nice hotel in a busy area with a lot of character. Very nice staff and cheap parking in the garage across the street. ($5 from Friday-Saturday) I would absolutely stay here again.”

“The Renaissance was luxurious at an affordable price. The location was great - right in Pittsburgh's cultural district, so close to theaters and restaurants. - I liked the responsiveness of the staff, the atmosphere, the bed was comfortable.
- The drinking glasses in the room were not clean. The television in the room could've been never/larger.
“The staff was friendly, helpful and responsive. The location was ideal for our needs; we were able to walk to various places from the hotel with great suggestions from the literature in the hotel room. The room was clean for the most part. The only problem we had was with the drinking glasses that weren't clean. The room was comfortable with a great view of the river. The hotel should think about offering parking with in and out privileges but we were able to find on the street parking and cheaper rates at other downtown garages. Ultimately we were satisfied with our overall experience and would consider staying again.”

“This is a historic landmark lovingly restored into a 4-star hotel. The staff bend over backwards for guests, the rooms are spacious, the riverfront views are lovely, and 3-story domed lobby is breathtaking. One drawback: I am a smoker and the Renaissance Pittsburgh (as with all Marriott properties) is 100% non smoking.”

- It was centrally located, quietly sophisticated, excellent dining.
- A few amenities like chocolate or the bed turned down would put the final touches on it.

The architecture of the building has been preserved and while it is updated in terms of amenities it still has the charm of a bygone era.”

- The hotel was not able to give me any Marriott reward points.
“The hotel is located conveniently across the river from PNC Park for those die hard baseball fans and within walking distance from Heinz filed where the Steelers play. It's right in the middle of the cultural district and walking distance to lots of great restaurants and tourist attractions. The architecture of the Renaissance is breath-taking. The detail workmanship that went into the building of this hotel really shows a lot. I highly recommend this hotel to types of travelers, may it be a weekend getaway (Single or not), business purpose or family vacation. I was really impressed.”

- The amazing decor downstairs and the clean and classy decor of each room. PLUS free internet usage was great.
- It was in an area of town where everything closes very early and the hotel restaurant was not good at all. Chatty waitress, not fresh food.
“This hotel is in an area of town that is the theater/financial district. I am told it is alive when there shows going on and it closes up early when there are not. That is important to know if you are going out of your room at 8:30pm to find a restaurant open. The hotel itself was beautiful and the front desk and maid/doorman people were very nice. But the parking situation is horrible. Expect to pay lots of money if you are coming and going in a car each day. The hotel restaurant had a waitress that talks so much to me and the table next to me that I know more about her life over the last 15 years than I know about my own teenager. Too chatty for an elegant restaurant, called us "Hon" and "Sweety" and I'm 46 years old. It was as if I was in a burger joint. Our food tasted like it was warmed up in the microwave and it took them a while to think about bringing us bread plates, etc. I do not recommend the hotel restaurant but I am told there are a lot of nice restaurants around, if you can find them open. Call ahead.”

- All staff was exceptional: Very courteous & attentive. The foyer was spectacular. Our room was huge!
- There was nothing I didn't like about this hotel.
“Upon entering the Renaissance-Pittsburgh, my brother and I knew we were in for a treat. The foyer is an astounding piece of architecture with high arched ceiling covered with intricate tile work. The hotel is absolutely immaculate with courteous staff that greeted and opened the door for us each time we entered and exited. Even the housekeeping staff seemed to care that our stay was a pleasant one.”

“This hotel would have gotten higher ratings. Unfortunately housekeeping staff never arrived to attend to our room until 4:45 in the afternoon. We had been away all day and had no interest in leaving at that point so we straightened ourselves and just asked for fresh towels and toiletries. Front desk made no attempt to apologize or make amends.”

- The lobby was beautiful, the location perfect and the staff was friendly and helpful.
- I wanted a gift shop, they didn't have one but the staff recommended several places to get what I needed.
“My husband and I were in Pittsburg for a wedding and were using the time to get away from all the commitments of home. We were extremely satisfied with the hotel. The Renaissance has this amazing lobby that is filled with beautiful mosaic tiles. The atmosphere of the lobby, service areas and guest room was luxurious. I felt pampered. (I just wish I would have noticed the robe in the closet the night before we left - I would have taken advantage of that!). I have already recommended the service to others and know that we will use it again. Thank you for a memorable trip.”

- I loved our room, very big and roomy.
- Queen size bed felt smaller and not comfortable at all.
“I loved our room, it had big windows and high ceilings, made the room feel so big. The bed however was too small and not comfortable at all. The bathroom was very nice too. My friend didn't like her room that much, unlike our room her room's bathroom was built into the room. It made the hallway to the door long, and made the room feel smaller. Our's was built outwards so our room didn't suffer in size and felt much bigger. So if you're lucky, you might get a nice room.”

- Location was excellent for my trip.
- The shower was broken, didn't find that out until around checkout in the morning.

- The hotel had a feel of luxury.
- The room we were given had a terrible view of the air conditioning unit. We could not see anything in the City except for a small piece of the sky.
“The hotel was very clean and welcoming. I would stay there again but hope to not get the same room as the view was dismal (looking out at the air conditioning units outside our window).”

- The lobby has beautiful architecture with marble and detailed tile work.
- Parking is expensive, $25/day!
“The Renaissance Hotel lives up to its name. Step back in time to a lobby that welcomes those with the finest of taste. Marble staircases and mosaic tile work can be appreciated by those with the most discerning eye for detail. The rooms are spacious and most with views of the river. The location is in the heart of Pittsburgh Downtown, where you can walk to your business meeting or to the ball park.”

- The bedding, towels, toilet paper and even the water were soft. Luxury to the max!
- It would have been nice to have a table, instead of a desk, in the room so we could have eaten in comfort.

- The room was beautiful, staff very friendly.
- Loud, they put us next to the elevator & there was I believe a convention of some sort.
“Very nice, but would suggest soundproofing some rooms near the elevator, some people who had too much to drink were very loud and woke us.”
