• Expensive to valet.

“During the one night that I stayed the room felt like a resort. I stayed at the Wyndham hotel the next night and was upset when compared to the Hilton.”

“Nice downtown location, nice rooms and staff was mostly friendly. However the Internet didn't work most of the time, the pay TV channels didn't work, the bathroom floor was covered with water every time I took a shower and the valet parking was a bit flaky.”

• Decor was nice.
• We were forced to use valet parking due to their own construction issues and charged an excessive amount.

“Staff did not control the lobby. Runners who completed the road race were wet and smelly and allowed to lounge in the lobby on the furniture. It was disgusting.”

• No where to park.

“The hotel had fast check in and a great staff. The hotel was VERY busy with a Steelers game and the staff handled it very well. Although parking is very hard to find and expensive.”

“While the hotel had several benefits the lack of parking and lenghty waits for the elevator were very inconvenient. In addition to waiting for the elevator an attempt to take the steps resulted in being stuck in a stairway with not ground exit. The waiting for an elevator on the lower level was worse than waiting on our room floor. One would think that with the consistency with which people visit for the purpose of football games, they would have figured out a better plan for transitioning the guests.”

“hotel was beautiful b ut unfortunately it came up short. Our TV in our room did not work. They were supposed to fix it while we were out and they did not. Tub was clogged and hair dryer did not work. They did deliver one to our room promptly however after calling front desk. Their parking was filled so we and many guests were not able to valet park our cars at the hotel garage and hadd to park at private lot. Not thrilled with that after a long day of settling our son at college.On the brighter side, Room was gorgeous and beds were so comfortable! They need to work on less than acceptable service levels.”

• Our room was beautifully decorated and the staff member that checked me in was very nice.
• The hotel is located in a part of the city where almost every restaurant/coffee shop and bar were closed on the weekend!

“The hotel was very nicely decorated and sufficiently clean. The view overlooking the point was great. If there was anything to complain about in the room it would have been the bathroom door- it was a (mostly) frosted glass pocket door that offered very little privacy and the lock on ours was broken. Also, the walls of the hotel must be quite thin, as you can hear nearly everything while walking down the hallways. Regarding service my only complaint is that a family member had accidently left their cell phone in their room and didn't realize it until we were about to leave the city. After contacting the hotel they told us they would send someone up right away to look for the phone. A half and hour later they still hadn't sent anyone, and about an hour later my family member had to go to the hotel and look for the phone herself. As far as hotel facilities goes I found it amazing that although there were ice machines there was no vending machine in the entire hotel! Bring your own bottled water!”

“I was very pleased with the selection. Even though the front entrance was still being renovated, the inside of the hotel was completed. The room was tastefully decorated and very modern. I especially liked the coffee brewer in the room and LCD TV. The bed was especially comfortable.”

• Renovated room with good view.

“Property has on-going construction. For a full service hotel, the amenities are very limited - no pool, restaurant/bar close very early. The dumbest thing is they have renovated the rooms, and have installed glass - paneled sliding doors for the bathroom. The glass is smoked, but you can see right through it. Also, when we closed the bathroom door from the outside, the door locked, and maintenance had to come and open it. This is an older property in a good location, but parking is difficult.”

• The bed was amazing. Very nice bathroom, helpful concierge.
• Bad service at restaurant. Restaurant understaffed.

“My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. All of the staff were very helpful. We were unfamiliar with the area, and they helped us find attractions. We will stay again!”

• Renovations not good, rooms were very small.

“No nice way to say it. The bed smelled very badly. We moved rooms, and the next room was so small you could barley turn around in it. Closets not functional. Then the next night room service brought us something he dropped the tray, and broke 2 glasses in the hallway and bathroom floor, it took an hour for someone to clean it up. Then we could not walk barefoot the next 3 days because they still didn't clean it all up. Towel serviced skipped us one day, when we called down, they brought one towel.”

• A perfect location to watch the fourth of July fireworks. They were spectacular!
• Check-in was slow and unprofessional.

“Although major renovations are ongoing, the stay was pleasant. Rooms on the executive level were quite nice. The express elevator was broken and the promised continental breakfast was not available. Breakfast in the first floor restaurant was tasty, but the service was among the worst I have ever experienced in Pittsburgh.”

“I've stayed at this hotel before. But the entrance is under construction now. Parking garage is across the street. No reduction in cost for Hilton guests. The sliding door to the bathroom was not clean on the inside. No in room refrigerators. Beds were extremely comfortable and the bed linens were so luxurious. I would stay here again. I had three rooms reserved and all 6 of us were quite satisfied.”

• Good location, was given a remodeled king-sized room.
• Hotel was in the middle of remodeling, hallway dusty.

“I stayed in Hilton last year. I was very disappointed with the room. The bathroom was very small, old and outdated. But this time, the windows were taped up. The king-sized room was remodeled. The bathroom was still small but new and I can see downtown Pittsburgh through the windows. Overall a nice stay.”

“I was not impressed with the Pittsburgh Hilton one bit. First off it was under renovation and we were put in a room on a floor under renovation. The bathroom in the room was very small with an odd shower design. There was no other mirror in the room at all which made it difficult to get ready for two people. The valet was slow retrieving the car, and frankly, the staff was down right rude with the exception of the door man. Would not stay here again.”

“For a Hilton, I was shocked. But I have taken into consideration the renovation status and overall I would definitely stay there again. Thank you for the opportunity to negotiate the cost of the room for the night - it was great!”

• The concierge and staff were very good.
• Bad room condition, poor response to the missing service elements, more promises than delivery.

“We knew that the hotel was undergoing some renovation but we were put into a room that was unfinished, missing furniture and with water leaking from the bottom of the toilet and broken heating system. It took two days to fix the heating, three days to fix the toilet; we had the room serviced on only 2 of the 5 days that we stayed there. The staff was very courteous but ultimately made poor service choices and did not follow through on promises that were made.”

“Hotel is under renovation which is fine but was given a room that was not completely renovated. Bathroom door not installed properly and would not close. Shower was not set up properly and water leaked all over the bathroom floor. Room was not made. Very poor experience overall. Hotel should not have been rated 3* during renovation.”

• They were remodeling the rooms on our floor and there was a lot of dust.

“I have stayed here before and have always loved the location and the service. I wish I had known they were doing a big remodeling project. I am sure it will be nice when they finish. Right now it is kind of dusty and messy.”

• You had to pay for use of the business center and rooms are very compact.

“Overall, it is a very accommodating hotel with a friendly and helpful staff. I had older children with me and it was difficult to move about the room with the roll away bed that was brought in for us. It was a very tight squeeze.”

“The location of the Hilton is amazing and the view from our room was spectacular. This hotel is under renovation, which is clearly stated on the Hilton website. Thus, the hotel is not in the most presentable state. Once renovations are complete I am sure the guest experience will be great. Overall, we still had a good stay.”

“The recently redone room I stayed in was done with an updated but 'subdued' decor that I felt was modern but authentic. Great job by the interior decorator. Also, new and updated electronics [flat screen TV included] really hit the mark.”

• The bell hops were incredibly friendly and helpful.
• The room was described as a king but was a queen; the hotel was under construction--wallpaper falling from wall and food left in hallway for 1day.

“Nice location within downtown Pittsburgh and our view of the tunnel and bridge were excellent. The hotel was under construction and wall paper was hanging from the walls, construction began at about 8:30am on a Sunday morning. There was left over food sitting in the hallway. The room was attractive with a nice view, but the construction took away from the visit.”
