Chris from College Park, MD
“The location of the Hilton is amazing and the view from our room was spectacular. This hotel is under renovation, which is clearly stated on the Hilton website. Thus, the hotel is not in the most presentable state. Once renovations are complete I am sure the guest experience will be great. Overall, we still had a good stay.” Feb 14, 2008 by
Alan from Buffalo, NY
“The recently redone room I stayed in was done with an updated but 'subdued' decor that I felt was modern but authentic. Great job by the interior decorator. Also, new and updated electronics [flat screen TV included] really hit the mark.” Feb 7, 2008 by
Amy from New Concord, OH
“Nice location within downtown Pittsburgh and our view of the tunnel and bridge were excellent. The hotel was under construction and wall paper was hanging from the walls, construction began at about 8:30am on a Sunday morning. There was left over food sitting in the hallway. The room was attractive with a nice view, but the construction took away from the visit.” Jan 29, 2008 by
Maddy from Minneapolis, MN
“The rooms are beautiful, the food and room service are great, however there is construction going on right now which we weren't notified of. The halls were dusty and in shambles, and it was difficult to get to the hotel at first because of construction going on outside.” Dec 31, 2007 by
Bill from Ft. Loudon, PA
“The Hilton is being renovated, which was fine, but the restaurant was closed due to lack of guests. The hotel should have gone out of their way to wave that excess charge in light of the restaurant closing. Other than that, it was a delightful stay at a fine hotel.” Nov 28, 2007 by
Jim from Southfield, MI
“Hotel is in excellent downtown location. New rooms offer the latest in designer style reflecting high level comfort. New 32" wall mounted LCD TV, great woodwork, drapes, and linens with 1st class amenities for shower and bath areas. Std. room is small, because of extra furniture. Shower consists of new designer tile and glass wall but entrance to shower may be tight for large person.” Nov 28, 2007 by
Tez from Charlottesville, VA
“I had mixed feelings about Hilton in downtown Pittsburgh before I went due to my unpleasant experiences with other downtown Hiltons before. It surprised me. The room size was decent and star rating met my expectations.” Nov 14, 2007 by
Ted L. from Cincinnati, OH
“The hotel was undergoing renovation, and windows were frosted. Very poor sound insulation and noisy neighbors made for a sleepless night. Hallways were very outdated and worn. Definitely needs an update for a Hilton! Parking staff was rude due to large party that evening, and were not accommodating even regarding drop off.” Nov 9, 2007 by
Andy from Hamilton, VA
“It's an old Hilton with cramped rooms and run down amenities. The room had an old TV, studs sticking out of walls where something once was hanging, holes in bed sheet, and (most frustrating) a heating/cooling system that says it's adjusted for the season. In other words, we couldn't shut off the heat to make the room cooler. The temperature outside was in the 40s, but in the room it was about 80. My wife and I woke up sweating several times during the night. I'm sure this was once a gem of a hotel (in the '70s or '80s), but other than the location (easy access to most of downtown), the place had nothing to offer. It was a plain, small room for sleeping. If you want a place to sleep so you can explore the city it might be worth it, but if you're looking for a place to hang around, this hotel is not the one. It's time to knock it back to a 2 star hotel, which is much more appropriate.” Nov 8, 2007 by
Sherri from Reading, PA
“The hotel had everything that you needed from a fitness room, to a restaurant, to a pub. We had no control over the temperature in our room and it was extremely warm making it very uncomfortable to sleep in. It is under construction so hopefully, this will be improved. We couldn't see out of the hotel windows. We were awakened each day with the noise of hammering/sawing. We got a great price but I would have been willing to pay more to avoid these things.” Nov 2, 2007 by
Gloria from Newark, DE
“The hotel boasts wonderful landmark scenery of Pittsburgh downtown. It's convenient for any means of transportation. But as an older hotel, the carpet looks not so clean.” Nov 1, 2007 by
Jason from Muscatine, IA
“The room was nice, though a little small. I trust after the renovations it will be better. The bathroom was a little cramped too. The staff was really friendly, and it was a nice place to stay on the whole.” Oct 29, 2007 by
Josie from Pittsburgh, PA
“The rooms are much smaller than you would expect. The top of the TV stand was loaded with dust and the bathroom held a strange odor.” Oct 27, 2007 by
Mike from Indianapolis, IN
“Relative to other hotels in Pittsburgh (e.g. Westin convention centre, Marriott), the rooms were smaller. The location is nice in terms of the available views of the rivers merging, but is a bit isolated at the southern tip of downtown. Hotel was still being renovated so the room had some mismatched furniture, missing garbage bins and hallways under construction. When renovations are completed, hotel should be pretty nice though.” Oct 18, 2007 by
Jeff from Huntersville, NC
“I had a friend travel with me and ended up sleeping on a pull out couch since the hotel was out of rooms with double beds. The rooms left a bit to be desired, but that may have been since they were under renovation.” Oct 16, 2007 by
Liz from Lancaster, NY
“Good location, very shabby amenities. As mentioned prior, room totally unsatisfactory, from state of being unfinished to cable TV not working (what good is a plasma flat screen TV if cable not working?), stuff like coat hangers & junk left on a bed, no hairdryer or iron. Maybe the Hiltons used the hotel decorating & maintenance budget for Paris' legal defense fund.” Oct 5, 2007 by
Ray from Vakencia, PA
“It was a good experience, clean and friendly. Would recommend!” Oct 3, 2007 by
Jason from High Point, NC
“The hotel and the staff were great. The hotel was under repair, which caused some issues. It stunk and the best the hotel could do was change it to a smoking room which stunk too. The asst. Manager on call that day was fantastic. He found us a non smoking room and provided 2 free breakfasts for us. Wonderful staff at this hotel, just outstanding. The accommodations, due to the renovations were a 2 star level.” Oct 3, 2007 by
Seth from Spring, TX
“Not a hotel to spend anytime in other than to sleep at night. No amenities, but good location for seeing sports and downtown.” Sep 12, 2007 by
Jeremiah from Daniels, WV
“I feel the room wasn't clean and the shuttle service could have run longer than 9 o'clock. I went to Pittsburgh to see a baseball game, and had to walk back to the Hilton after the game.” Sep 6, 2007 by
Jay from Dundalk, MD
“Pros: in the heart of the golden triangle, extremely friendly, very clean. A very good first experience at a Hilton. Cons: the window was frosted over to prevent seeing outside. Aside from the (expensive) valet, very little parking was available. Overall, an excellent experience.” Aug 29, 2007 by
Heather from Pittsburgh, PA
“We had an executive suite and it was incredibly small! We were told we'd have a king bed because it was our wedding night and they gave us a queen. Neither of us thought there was anyway it could have been a queen bed. The wall paper was peeling off the walls, too. There was no phone book in the room. The front desk took 3 phone transfers and 25 minutes to give my husband phone and it was wrong when we called it.” Aug 19, 2007 by
Kim from Columbus, OH
“We were very disappointed. We were never informed that there were any renovations going on at the hotel by the hotel staff when we called to confirm or when we checked in. Not kid-friendly at all. The hotel staffs with the exception of some were stuffy and unfriendly. Asked for a new room and was told there were no rooms available. Room wasn't ready when we got there at 3 pm (check-in time) and was informed it wouldn't be ready until 4:30. Construction happening in hotel and was loud all day long beginning early, early in the am. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.” Aug 17, 2007 by
Kenneth from Austintown, OH
“Overall, this was a great stay. I was celebrating my wedding anniversary and my wife was overwhelmed with the roses and champagne I had placed in the room. The staffs made this happen and I am grateful to each and everyone who helped me make this a special night for the one I love.” Jul 26, 2007 by
Karen from Keene, NH
“It was good except we expected to be able to see out the windows and could not. Made a small room smaller. Hotel review boasted views from every window. Would have like to know renovations would be in progress. If I ever travel to Pittsburg again, once their renovations are done, I would stay there again.” Jul 26, 2007 by
Pam from Lexington, KY
“The room was lovely, but there were no reading lights near the bed, and there was no coffee for the coffee maker. Also, we ran out of toilet tissue, no extra rolls provided. And the breakfast buffet Sunday morning wasn't worth the price. But the service at the hotel was great.” Jul 19, 2007 by
Nora from Port Chester, NY
“I'm not especially picky when it comes to hotels, so maybe what I have to say won't be that meaningful, but, with the exception of the shower, this one certainly met my expectations. The problems with the shower were that there was no non-slip surface on the shower's floor, and the mechanism to get the water to come out of the shower head was almost impossible to find. I solved the first problem with a towel under my feet. One of the maintenance staff solved the other one for me.” Jul 18, 2007 by
Tamara from Windsor, ON CA
“My overall opinion was that the hotel room wasn't very nice. The room was damp, there was no fan in the bathroom, the window shade was broken, and there was only one temperature setting of very cold. But I did think that the bed/pillows were very comfortable and sleep well. Overall, the hotel rooms are in major need of renovations.” Jul 12, 2007 by
Susan from Bethesda, MD
“The king bed was a queen; room was dull and not quality.” Jul 12, 2007 by
Stu from Oakland, MD
“Hotel undergoing remodeling a little too late. No one should be made to try to sleep in the room we were given. Big whooshes then cables clanking together. Asked them to shut down elevator at 2AM but it started up at 6AM. Left miserably tired. They offered a free stay in the future but have not received any info 9 days later. I will wait for the remodel before going back. Such possibilities, great location, terrific staff. They need to shut down that room or the elevator.” Jul 11, 2007 by
Melissa from Lewis Center, OH
“We arrived 15 minutes after posted check in time of 3pm. Already customers were being told that rooms were not ready. Within 15 minutes a minimum of 50 guests were in line waiting for check-in (rooms were being assigned, but no keys issued). We waited 1 1/2 hours in the hotel bar before we were able to pick up our keys. There was still a tremendous line of people waiting to check in. When we got up to our room, it had not been touched by housekeeping, it was trashed! I called guest services and told them that due to the issues still going on in the lobby, I would keep the room, but expected it to be attended to by the time we returned that evening. It was. Also, rooms were very small bathrooms were incredibly tight and shower leaked profusely onto floor even with curtains in proper position. Understand an upcoming renovation is scheduled - it is in dire need!” Jul 11, 2007 by
Judy from Fairview Park, OH
“I was traveling with my dad, so I really wanted two beds. When I checked in (I came early to make my request, I knew check-in was 3:00pm, but I thought if I asked early enough they would be able to accommodate me and then we could return at check-in time). The desk clerk told me there were no double rooms, they were overbooked, they couldn't do anything. I did end up with a rollaway bed, but the room was so small we had to climb over things to move around. The window were filthy. The bathroom was very tiny. I was very surprised, since I had stayed at a Hilton in the past. Needless to say my dad was disappointed.” Jul 11, 2007 by
Tracy from Commerce Twp, MI
“This hotel was just perfect for our stay in Pittsburgh. It's a short walk to downtown and all the great shops/restaurants and right across the street from Point Park with a few of all 3 rivers. Also, the subway is right across the street. Very convenient and comfortable hotel.” Jul 11, 2007 by
Mike from Schererville, IN
“I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. We requested 2 double beds and could not get them. The hotel was under construction and the floor we stayed was filthy with half of the rooms under construction. The gift show was not open at 9pm! The area is dangerous and the room was extremely small. The valet went thru my glove box looking for who knows what. I will never stay there even if they paid me.” Jul 8, 2007 by
Jeremiah from Daniels, WV
“The hotel was nice, had an old feel to it. the bathrooms were nice and the beds were very comfortable. Location wasn't bad. we had a great view out the window.” Jul 5, 2007 by
Nicole from Royersford, PA
“Great staff and location, very nice hotel, room was a bit small for comfort and no heat available, was cold even with air turned off. Food not the highlight, room service in the morning is usually late. Experienced abdominal distress for several days related to a hamburger I ate there.” Jul 4, 2007 by
Jean from Eighty Four, PA
“Check in was fast. Nice room with a great view. Evelyn & Crabtree supplies in bathroom - nice touch. The carpet was stained. I took the comforter off of the bed and the underside had several hairs stuck to it.” Jun 22, 2007 by
Andrew from Latrobe, PA
“Ok for the stay and price - would never pay full price for what I received.” Jun 21, 2007 by
Gary from Merchantville, NJ
“Great overall, but they showed the reservation as not being paid when we checked in, and made us give a credit card number to check in. it was resolved by morning however.” Jun 7, 2007 by
Thomas from Martinsville, VA
“Would not stay here again.” Jun 5, 2007 by
Lisa from Canfield, OH
“They should not have people staying in the rooms close to construction. The mold was awful. Also no refrigerator in the room.” May 24, 2007 by
Michelle from Pittsbrugh, PA
“Good public areas, housekeeping respected privacy, terrible wireless Internet connection, good security, rooms under renovation-some better than others.” May 10, 2007 by
Colleen from Flint, MI
“The hotel is easily located off the freeway and has a spectacular view of the river and rolling hills.” Apr 19, 2007 by
Bill from Charlotte, NC
“The Pittsburgh Hilton was one of the worst Hiltonżs Iżve had the opportunity to stay in. It is way overdue for a complete revamping in all areas, rooms, lobby, restaurants, outside, etc. The rooms are too small and not competitive with other hotels. The entrance area was overloaded with cars with no place to park. Parking was very expensive with no convenient self park options.” Apr 18, 2007 by
Nicole from Wintersville, OH
“Unwilling to call a cab for me.” Apr 18, 2007 by
Steve from Beaver, PA
“Not a 3-star facility. The common areas are very nice and give the appearance of a high end hotel. However, the room was much smaller than expected. I have stayed at holiday inns with better rooms at a lower cost.” Apr 11, 2007 by
Lisa from Astoria, NY
“The hotel lobby and restaurants were lovely. It is just the rooms need a lot of work. For a 3 star hotel, the rooms were small and out dated. The walls are very thin. I could hear conversations in the next room. I can even hear someone walking down the hall on the carpet. The staff, however, are top notch. Super friendly and very helpful. Parking there, well, either you pay for parking, or you roll the 'am I going to get a ticket' dice.” Apr 4, 2007 by
Maryanne from State College, PA
“He gave me a queen bed. I asked for two as I was with my son. He said the computers were slow. When I got to the room it was 1 bed. Poor, poor. Service.” Mar 29, 2007 by
J from Ottawa, ON CA
“This hotel is exactly what we expected and required: it was clean and it had a fantastic location. A major added bonus is the free shuttle offered by the hotel which services anywhere within a 20 minute radius of the hotel. It was very easy to get to from the airport: you take the 28x bus, which is about a 25 minute ride and the hotel is the first stop when you get downtown. The best part is that this service only costs $2.25. This is a great hotel. Not so many bells and whistles, the bathroom is definitely on the small side, but it has comfortable beds and clean rooms. One drawback however, is the construction work that is going on selected floors. It's not that noisy and only occurs during the week.” Mar 28, 2007 by
Tom from Columbus, OH
“Bad experience and not up to the Hilton name. Never would recommend or stay there again.” Hotel Representatives:
