• The inside of the room is more appealing than the outside of the motel.
• The area needs cleaning to make the motel more appealing.

• Love the free breakfast. Coffee was really good.
• Air conditioner did not cool the room like you would expect.

• 4-star bed in a 2.5-star hotel! Very comfortable.
• Breakfast wasn't quite up to what I expected; not bad though.

• Staff was friendly, non smoking room was relatively clean and was not smelly.
• I had requested a non-smoking room was given a smoking room (which I didn¿t know) until I went into the room. It was very smelly, I had to change it.

• Bad location. Outside was a mess. Picture on website was not close to the actual location!

“We viewed a photo of this hotel on your website. We thought that it looked fine and was close to our destination in N. Charleston. Knowing that N. Charleston was not the best part of the area, we still felt that this hotel looked nice and by the description of it that it would be nice. When we pulled up, we noticed it was anything but nice. It looked like a "dump". The hotel room that we were given was directly next to the main highway overpass. It was quite loud. The extremely rude person we spoke to at extension #2949 was not willing to help in any way, even when we requested to simply switch our reservation to another hotel. She was very rude and not at all willing to come to any compromise. We finally had to keep the reservation and loose our money by going to another hotel on our own. We did not want to ruin our night by staying at such a poor quality hotel. The hotel we stayed at was right across the street and was quite nice but was quiet and clean. I am very unsatisfied and will make sure that this is the last.”

• The decor was so upscale for the price.
• It was right beside the interstate.

“The hotel looked very old on the outside but surprisingly new and updated inside. We felt safe, we really enjoyed the night we spent at this hotel. no complaints at all.”

• Smoking rooms smell terribly.

“It is quite an old hotel just off a major highway meaning that you will always hear some traffic noises (especially, bikes). Hotel is decently clean, although you will find some mold in the bathroom. If you do not smoke and do not tolerate smells of smoking rooms, request non-smoking room. We stayed in smoking room and it was the smelliest place I have ever been at. Free breakfast is average or below average. But the price was right, so no complaints.”

• Friendly Front Desk Service (at 1:00 AM). Clean room. Matched Advertised Expectations.
• Lots of noise from nearby airport and motorcycles. (Air show and motorcycle show following day).

“We were looking for an affordable hotel/motel just three days in advance of our arrival. I think we booked the last room in the city. The motel was easy to find, and the front desk staff were friendly. The room was exactly as advertised and met our expectations and needs.”

“Perfect for my needs, the La Quinta Inn Charleston met all of my expectations. Clean rooms, high speed wireless internet, a large pool, and friendly staff helped make my stay a great experience. The location is very accommodating for the business traveler, as it is just off the interstate and convenient to the beltline. I would recommend this hotel to any business traveler.”

“They need to provide a better services to their customers and don't just say we can't. I reserved two rooms and it seemed they don't care as long as they got their money. Morning staffs were friendly, but evening ones were not.”

• Location and getting a room on the 1st floor.
• Maid knocked on my door at 9 am, when I was exiting the shower.

“Very easy access from I-26, and the check in process was extremely efficient. The breakfast was very nice and appreciated. Staying here was a good value while on business in Charleston.”

• Looked like a re-furbished Motel 6.

• Convieniant location, housekeeping staff was excellent
• Room smelled like an ashtray, bed very uncomfortable

“Front desk clerk unfriendly, but housekeeping staff was excellent. At check in and by phone 3 days before check in, I requested a non smoking room with a one queen or king bed, but was told none were available at check in. However, someone walked in after us and asked if any non smoking rooms were available with a king bed, and the clerk told the person yes. ”

• Reasonably priced for area, clean and staff friendly
• Road access is highly congested,, 5 yrs. of continuous construction barriers, parking tight.,

“Clean, safe and moderately priced lodging with helpful staff. Continuous long term highway construction with higly dense traffic and barricades makes immediate access to the hotel stressful and difficult only to find a jammed hotel parking lot.”

• The hotel was clean, the service was friendly, and the continental breakfast was excellent.
• The only bad thing was the construction work on Ashley Phosphate Road, which made getting to the hotel a hassle at certain times of the day.

“I enjoyed the stay. I was surprised to find such a quality hotel for the two-star rating that it received. It was as nice or nicer than many of the three star hotels we have stayed in.”

• The room was spotless and comfortable.
• While the location was close to the highway, there was lots of road construction going on.

“The room was super clean, spacious and comfortable. The continental breakfast was fine and the staff very helpful and friendly. It was easy to locate this hotel from the airport. The outdoor pool was clean and nice too. I really feel the value was greater than the cost here.”

• too far from city; air in town has funky smell

“While the hotel is fine, it was further away from the historical district than I expected (about 20 minutes on highway). The rooms were clean and nice, but the air smelled strange. Also, they apparently allow pets in this place, because there were 2 barking dogs! Still, for the price, it was good. And they had a decent breakfast and a nice eating area.”

“The LaQuinta is a good motel for the price. It offers a quality continental breakfast, the staff was friendly and quick to respond to any requests, and the location is great. The only drawback would be that the outer rooms open into the parking lot leaving them prone to excess noise from other guests. Overall, it was a good experience.”

• Right off I-26, easy to find even for someone who hadn't spent much time in Charleston before.
• No minifridge or microwave in the room, parking was a nightmare, and the continental breakfast was a little sparse.

“This hotel was a GREAT deal for my money. It is located off I-26 in North Charleston. The driving directions provided were very accurate, and I encountered no problems arriving at the hotel. Check-in took about 30 seconds (literally!), and my room was ready over an hour before the official check-in time. The room was spacious and adequate, with two double beds, and even a provided crib in the room. The TV was a nice size, too. Only one real problem, in my eyes- there was no minifridge or microwave in the room. The continental breakfast is, at best, decent... I suppose if you get up at 6am to get there first, you might have a selection, but when I walked down at 7:45 there was absolutely nothing left, and no one was restocking. I made do with an apple and some milk, but quite honestly that just didn't look as good as some of the veritable piles of waffles some of the people were eating! I'd definitely suggest getting down to the continental breakfast EARLY, if you want to utilize that option. Also, parking is a nightmare at this hotel. At night, you cannot find a parking place to save your life. I had to make one, and hope and pray no one came tearing around the corner and took the front end of my car off. I have no idea, but I'd say that there are a few locals using their parking lot at night; maybe the LaQuinta could assign spaces, or give out hangtags to those that are staying at the hotel, to clear up confusion. However, those two negatives being said, I very much enjoyed my stay at the LaQuinta Inn in Charleston- and I would definitely stay there again. Two thumbs up! :)”

• I liked the friendly staff and continental breakfast.
• One of the beds in my original room was soaked with urine.

“Although the staff was great, the rooms were old and not sanitary. The beds were too hard and there were not enough electrical outlets in the room. The hotel is too close to the interstate (I-26) exit #209. The noise of the construction was louder than the airplanes from the local US Air Force Base.”

“For a quick overnight stay this is a great hotel. I would not use it for a meeting place or if getting multiple rooms for a reunion. The cleanliness of the room is great, but the location & exterior of the hotel looks dated.”

“My wife and I were visiting the Charleston area for a wedding the weekend of Aug 28, 04 when Tropical Storm Gaston came ashore in the area. The news stations were saying that no one should be on the roads. The La Quinta Inn allowed everyone to stay past the regular checkout time of 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm to insure our safety. The staff was very friendly all the way to the general manager and it was greatly appreciated.”
