• The rooms.
• Had a major convention on a holiday weekend.

“They had a major convention with several thousand twenty to thirty year olds that were single on a major holiday weekend. Every common area, bar area, CABA area and spa area of the resort was over crowded. This was not your typical holiday weekend crowd at the diplomat resort and spa.”

• The room was nice, but the common areas (lobby, pool, etc.) and service were great.
• Staff at the cafe was inattentive. It was the end of breakfast and it seemed like they were ready to leave.

“This hotel room was an incredible value for the price paid. The facilities, staff and service were more than accommodating. The check-in, lobby, private dining, and pool bar staff were good, but the Cafe staff seemed indifferent. The food was good, but seemed a little pricey for the quality. A length of stay parking option or pass would have been more convenient than paying for parking each time we left the garage.”

• For a convention hotel, it is gorgeous. The health club was great, too.
• The food prices were a bit steep, but that's about it.

“Overall, we were quite pleased at the Westin and would certainly visit again. The public spaces are wonderful, and for a convention-type hotel, we were very comfortable. The fitness area was cleaned, well-equipped, and of course, had a great view. The "Heavenly Bed" was just that--heavenly. Even the bathroom had a clean, serene; spa quality. We really didn't have that much contact with staff, outside of check-in, one question asked at the fitness center and one question asked at the concierge desk, which is why I chose five. It's the closest to "neutral" I could select. What little contact we had was neither good nor bad.”

“Our room was next to the "mechanical room" and our view was of the air conditioners for what looked like the entire hotel (on the roof level with our room). It was very loud in the room. We also did not have a remote for the TV. Sometimes I wonder if they "sell" these rooms for the low price and they are held and booked differently.”

• Loved the pool, the quiet evening beach, nice room, easy parking, and helpful staff.
• Crazy expensive food.

“We were happy from the time we walked in until we left. We were first given a tiny room with a king bed. When I requested a bigger room for my family of four, it was given with no problem and they threw in the ocean view. Concierge always had helpful tips, and happy staff always greeted us in the lobby and talked to my kids too. We weren't very to Fort Lauderdale but come to find out, Hollywood has its own, better boardwalk. Just wish we'd have stayed longer. We spent one day on the beach with hotel chairs and umbrella and it was perfect. We chilled and the kids were all over the beach having a blast.”

“We found the Westin to be beautiful. We loved the bathroom and the view was great. We enjoyed going out to the pool early in the morning. The only draw back was very limited places to eat off property. We did have a rental van so we were able to drive to find other places to eat. We really enjoyed our stay.”

“The best part is they honored my request of an ocean view room. Furthermore, we had a choice of 3 different floors to choose from. We took the 17th floor and what a view! No balcony, but who cares. Opened up the window at night to hear the sounds of the surf. Room was nice and decent size, love seat and plenty of space near the window. The bathroom setup was a little unique. The shower, tub, toilet and sink all had their own separate areas. We sacrificed a king to get the ocean view, but sleeping in the double was not a problem, very comfortable. Service was great from the get-go. Help is everywhere in the lobby area. The concierge was informative. Like the other reviewer said, he remembered who we were the next day. My first thought walking in was that we were in Disney World. When looking out the big windows toward the ocean, one might get the impression of being on a cruise ship. At the Westin, there is also a convention center next door and a shopping area across the street with several restaurants and the parking garage. This is all part of the Westin complex. They did a nice job of blending the parking garage into the buildings. Their very efficient fitness center faces out toward the ocean. We walked across the street to Nikki's for dinner, a trendy spot to eat along the intercostals waterway. Great food, setting and service. Certain nights they turn into a club and stay open till 4am. The girls working the bar were a blast! We took a ride over to their sister resort, the Diplomat Golf Resort & Spa, right across the bridge. Very upscale and much quieter than the Westin. It's good to know that Westin guests can use the facilities at the Golf Resort.”

• I liked the lobby.
• Some of the staff seemed aggravated when we needed help.

“The hotel is beautiful, yet if you want a cup of coffee at 8 pm. no restaurants in the hotel offer a cup of coffee at that time. All meals were unbelievably expensive, the breakfast buffet was over for bacon and eggs. A drink at the pool was also higher, that's ridiculous. Some of the staff members seemed to be aggravated and did not have a friendly attitude, yet the front desk was extremely polite.”

• The hotel was beautiful.
• Parking and restaurants are extremely expensive. Children's club is $70 per kid, parking additional $22 /day, Jelly Beans $10, water $8.

• The views and the design of the property.
• It took a little while to get your car from valet. It is best to phone ahead.

“The staff was great. The rooms were spacious and had great views of the ocean and intercostals waterway. The pool area was very relaxing with direct access to the beach and the food at the poolside restaurant was delicious. No complaints at all. This was our second time staying there.”

• The location and beauty of the hotel was fantastic.

“This hotel and the location were absolutely beautiful. The staff definitely makes your stay worthwhile. They were welcoming, friendly, and very helpful. The spa is the icing on the cake! They provided a relaxing, warm, friendly atmosphere. Much nicer then most of the "stuffy" spas.”

• Expensive add-ons, hotel restaurants were generally expensive or closed.

“We stayed twice during our recent visit to the ft Lauderdale area. We got upgraded rooms on both visits. Hotel areas & rooms were very, very nice & extremely clean. The hotel personnel were very polite & helpful (except for one older & somewhat obnoxious guy in the infinity pool area). Lower level pool area was also very, very nice, but the pool area music was usually too loud. Parking was a bit of a hassle because if you self-parked, it costs $15/day & you had to drive up four levels, across to another ramp & then back down four levels every time you parked your car. On a minor note, they were remodeling one of the restaurants near the pool area, which created some construction noise & disruption.”

“Everything I¿d expect from a Westin and then some--could not have been better. We were upgraded to an ocean-view suite and everything was terrific. My only "complaint" was that self parking was across the street in a ramp and was still $15/day; that seems stiff. Otherwise nothing but compliments.”

• There is nothing that I didn't like about this hotel. It was fabulous and I would recommend it to all of my friends in the future.

“The Westin Diplomat Resort And Spa in Hollywood, Florida was absolutely breath-taking. From the moment I walked into the lobby, I felt as it I was royalty. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. Every room had an amazing view, and amenities to accommodate its guests. I would love to stay there again every time I travel to Florida!”

• The lobby is beautiful. Room was pleasant looking and comfortable.
• Restaurants were booked solid due to a convention. We had to leave the hotel at 9pm to eat off property! Even room service was over 1 hour to get!

“Our experience was not good in that the hotel room that we got was very noisy. There was water running all night from somewhere and air whistling out of a vent even when we turned off the thermostat. Must have been a centralized system that was causing the noises. Hotel management was not receptive to our concerns when we addressed it the next morning and tried to cancel the second night and move to another hotel. On top of it all while in the lobby lounge having a drink waiting for dinner there was a roach crawling up the wall next to my husband. ”

• The service of the staff was simply magnificent!
• The food is a bit pricey.

“Overall this was a wonderful weekend getaway for us. The staff are so very professional and accommodating. Without asking, there was even a young man who came by to bring ice water to me at the beach. It seemed as though he read my thoughts!!! The food is pricey, but really good. Everywhere in the hotel common areas and in our room were immaculate. There are so many nice touches throughout (fountains, decor, etc.) All in all it is a fabulous place.”

• Very accommodating for infants/toddlers. They brought 2 cribs to the room for our twins.
• Housekeeping was less than diligent; no tissue; didn't vacuum; etc.

“Overall a very nice hotel. Pool areas are nice & a lot of fun. Amenities for the hotel are VERY expensive. $7 for a bottle of water in the room. Also, not many activities for a "resort." Housekeeping was less than diligent. In 7 nights, our room was cleaned 4 times & 2 of those were only after we called to request they clean it.”

• Beautiful spot, full-service resort with good restaurants.
• Beach has been replenished after extensive hurricane damage--its OK but not ideal.

“Good choice if you can get a discounted rate. You'll spend your savings at the pool bar. This is a beautiful resort with nice pool, good service & good restaurants. The beach has some hurricane damage, but not too bad. Beach chairs and kids' inflatable toys are free. Cabanas not worth the $50/day price for most folks. Shallow water is an advantage for families with children. A walkway over the street takes you to docks/shops on the inland waterway. Its a pleasant 1 mile walk to the Hollywood Beach Broadway, where other restaurants/shops are located. You can get by without a car here, 10 miles south of FLL airport.”

• The place was a very special place and we were treated like very special people.
• My husband left his hat there and when he spoke with someone in lost and found, they seemed very put out about trying to help him.

“Except for one small incident (lost and found), we had a wonderful stay: beautiful setting, large lovely rooms with very comfortable beds, and overall, very attentive staff.”
