• It was a cheek contemporary hotel with extremely comfortable amenities.
• Very pricy food and beverages.

“Great hotel to stay with your kids or not. Beautiful pool, clean comfy rooms, stylish and practical bathroom. The beach is wonderful, the pool (s) were packed, but there was tons of seating to accommodate the crowd. My only complaint is the pricy food and drinks, but this is to be expected when staying at such a nice place.”

• Very comfortable and clean especially in all public areas.
• Staff including restaurants waitresses is not too friendly.

“Valet parking is quite expensive. You will need to take a shuttle which runs every 30 minutes in order to go to the spa which locates in another area approx. 5 minutes drive from the hotel. Food quality at onsite restaurants are a bit disappointed. The hotel is truly comfortable in both public areas and the room itself. You can even look out to the ocean while you are sitting in the bathtub through the open window. I will definitely stay there again in the future.”

“The Diplomat is a lovely hotel right on the beach. They were kind enough to upgrade us to a ocean view room. The only negative issue is all the extra expenses. The food is very expensive at the resort. $12.00 for oatmeal, $16.95 pancakes. I had a pkg sent to me via FedEx and for them to receive it and deliver it to my room was $15.00. They charge to use the lounge chairs & umbrella's on the beach $25.00 & $15.00. They charge for the water in your room.”

• Great location with wonderful pool and beach.
• Lobby under construction and double beds and rooms were small.

“We liked the hotel and the location with beach and pool. We called ahead to reserve a room with 2 double beds because we were traveling with an 11 and 13 yr old. When we arrived they gave us a room with 1 king size bed and we ended up having to change the room so much for calling ahead. Double beds were tiny and the room was small and cramped but clean and well decorated.”

“The resort is out of this world. From first class architecture, to the top notch service and hospitality provided by the staff, to the amazing restaurants, this is a first class facility all around. Excellent stay. Would recommend the resort without hesitation.”

• They nickel and dime you for everything including lounge chairs at the beach.

“Overall this hotel always meets or exceeds my expectations. From the moment you are checked in and throughout my stay, the staff was wonderful and very accommodating. The rooms were beautiful and they even fulfilled a request for an ocean view balcony.”

“We had a wonderful and relaxing trip at the Westin. It is a gorgeous hotel and most of the staff was quick to help you out with whatever it was that you needed. In valet parking, provided us with tips on where to dine.”

“This amazing resort faces the ocean and has 2 great swimming pools. The service level is excellent and the staff is very attentive. It is connected to the other hotel with the Golf & Spa. There is a shuttle every 30 min if you want to enjoy the Spa. I would strongly recommend this hotel and hope to come back soon.”

• The location was excellent and it appeared to be newly remodeled. Everything was very nice.
• Nothing.

“We checked in and requested 2 doubles for 4 as we were staying here pre-cruise with our 2 boys. We were accommodated and given a room with a view of the marina opposite the ocean, which was nice. The hotel was very nice and could very well be rated a 3 star. I have stayed in 3 stars that were not nearly as nice. We had a great trip!”

• The sheets kept coming out on the bed, leaving us on the mattress. They are too small for the bed.

• Nice golf course. Friendly golf staff. Nice room and view.
• Shuttle to golf course and spa was unreliable. Hotel front desk staff and manager were very unhelpful in addressing and resolving issue.

“Excellent hotel located on beautiful Hollywood beach. Great views and well furnished hotel room. Quality of service and food in cafe restaurant could be significantly improved. It would be nice if beach walkway extended from Hollywood all the way to hotel and if outside restaurants were more conveniently (i.e., more closely) located. Certain front desk hotel staff isn't up to par for a major resort. Wonderful golf course. Challenging and interesting layout. Very helpful and friendly golf staff. Heads up to troon for managing this location so well.”

• People on our floor were very noisy late at night. Not the hotels fault.

• The Spa and fitness center gave us a very pleasant afternoon.
• Constantly reaching for your wallet.

“Everything was extra or overpriced -- even things that are free at other hotels. Parking ($18 a day), "toll-free" phone calls ($2.50), a seat by the pool, internet access ($13 a day), internet cafe ($39 per hour), bowl of oatmeal ($10), dinner entrees ($30 to $50), bottles of water in the room ($7 each). The food in the restaurants was not bad, but not good enough to justify the prices. There is nothing in the way of nearby restaurants and stores that you can walk to. Impressive place, in a sort of over-the-top Vegas style (3-story glass-roofed lobby full of plastic palm trees; swimming pool on a bridge above another swimming pool, etc.). One bright spot is that guests have free access to the Spa pool, saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms, and excellent fitness center. Spa services are pricey but professional. Nice room, great bed (we like firm), big bathroom with a great tub and a separate glassed-in shower, etc.”

• The pool was awesome.
• The beds weren't as comfortable as other Westins' beds.

“We really enjoyed the hotel. The check-in staff member was not particularly helpful at finding us two rooms near each other. It would have helped if he had told us that king beds had a pull-out sofa (which was great and we would have requested both King rooms). The pools were very nice. Ridiculous charge for internet.”

• Restaurants few are good but Nikki Marina food was bald and service bad.

“Overall a decent 4 start hotel where I like to go back and stay. Spa services massage was good but facial was whatever. Some of the employees have attitude problem and there are few who are very nice polite and professional. Cafe, Bar and Azizia are great restaurants but Nikki Marina food was bald and Service not good.”

• Absolutely wonderful experience, from service to cleanliness this hotel by far exceeded my expectations.
• Parking is quite expensive $18 for 8hrs+ every time you leave they charge at least $5 for an hour.

• I love the diplomat it's one of my favorite hotels and Ive travel all over us!
• The weather in Florida can be unpredictable and the pool closed and the hotel didn't offer an alternative activity like shuttle to mall or movies.

“A great room for its value because the pool/bar and beach are fantastic! And you get those features at any rate. Plus if youre into buildings this one is beautiful to look at!”

• The A/C in the rooms worked by a sensor. Big problem when you're sleeping because you don't move!

• Construction going on (sandblasting at lobby)/ they charged me $3 to bring to glasses to drink wine to my room.

“This is truly the gem of south Florida, the hotel is one of the largest (over 1,000 rooms) and it runs like a charm. The pool overlooking the ocean gives this hotel a romantic and intimate feel, particularly at dawn. If you don't have transportation you are pretty much stuck within the hotel restaurants (not much away from the premises), if you like the south beach night scene there is Nikko, right at the diplomat hotel catering to the late night crowd with great music drinks and the intercostals right at your feet. Overall the hotel provides a true resort experience.”

“They had a major convention with several thousand twenty to thirty year olds that were single on a major holiday weekend. Every common area, bar area, CABA area and spa area of the resort was over crowded. This was not your typical holiday weekend crowd at the diplomat resort and spa.”

• The room was nice, but the common areas (lobby, pool, etc.) and service were great.
• Staff at the cafe was inattentive. It was the end of breakfast and it seemed like they were ready to leave.

“This hotel room was an incredible value for the price paid. The facilities, staff and service were more than accommodating. The check-in, lobby, private dining, and pool bar staff were good, but the Cafe staff seemed indifferent. The food was good, but seemed a little pricey for the quality. A length of stay parking option or pass would have been more convenient than paying for parking each time we left the garage.”

• For a convention hotel, it is gorgeous. The health club was great, too.
• The food prices were a bit steep, but that's about it.

“Overall, we were quite pleased at the Westin and would certainly visit again. The public spaces are wonderful, and for a convention-type hotel, we were very comfortable. The fitness area was cleaned, well-equipped, and of course, had a great view. The "Heavenly Bed" was just that--heavenly. Even the bathroom had a clean, serene; spa quality. We really didn't have that much contact with staff, outside of check-in, one question asked at the fitness center and one question asked at the concierge desk, which is why I chose five. It's the closest to "neutral" I could select. What little contact we had was neither good nor bad.”

“Our room was next to the "mechanical room" and our view was of the air conditioners for what looked like the entire hotel (on the roof level with our room). It was very loud in the room. We also did not have a remote for the TV. Sometimes I wonder if they "sell" these rooms for the low price and they are held and booked differently.”

• Loved the pool, the quiet evening beach, nice room, easy parking, and helpful staff.
• Crazy expensive food.

“We were happy from the time we walked in until we left. We were first given a tiny room with a king bed. When I requested a bigger room for my family of four, it was given with no problem and they threw in the ocean view. Concierge always had helpful tips, and happy staff always greeted us in the lobby and talked to my kids too. We weren't very to Fort Lauderdale but come to find out, Hollywood has its own, better boardwalk. Just wish we'd have stayed longer. We spent one day on the beach with hotel chairs and umbrella and it was perfect. We chilled and the kids were all over the beach having a blast.”

“We found the Westin to be beautiful. We loved the bathroom and the view was great. We enjoyed going out to the pool early in the morning. The only draw back was very limited places to eat off property. We did have a rental van so we were able to drive to find other places to eat. We really enjoyed our stay.”
