Ashok from Woodbury, MN
“The hotel was good but we needed 2 double beds and we were told that entire hotel is queen size bed. We did morning breakfast and the restaurant was pretty basic. I wish it was little better.” Jul 25, 2008 by
Tim from Westmont, NJ
“Good location & staff. Good value. Minor complaints: Pool always ran out of towels. Beach front hotel but, no beach equip. chairs etc. I would, however recommend the hotel based upon location and value.” Jul 18, 2008 by
C &. from Las Vegas, NV
“Nice hotel in North South Beach (Art Deco). Friendly staff and clean rooms. Negative is the valet parking for $35 per night and the surrounding. In fact if you want to go to Miami its the perfect place to stay at.” Jun 7, 2008 by
Brian from Ocean, NJ
“The staff at the hotel were very nice, the room was very clean and it was located right on the beach. Could be modernized with a paint job and maybe new carpeting but otherwise very nice. I would stay here again.” May 27, 2008 by
Hanifa from Orlando, FL
“The stay was great I would hardly give this hotel 3 stars, the staff was wonderful, the walls were really thin, and the room could have been much cleaner. I may stay there again but only because of the location and staff.” May 6, 2008 by
Paul from Bloomington, MN
“Paper-thin walls, carpet curling up, dirty bath room, badly stained sitting chair. Gross. Not even close to the star level assigned to it.” Apr 22, 2008 by
Shwu-Ying from Bloomfield, MI
“No hair blow dryer, no coffee maker in the room. Next door hotel has music on till 2:00 am.” Apr 19, 2008 by
Lorena from Chicago, IL
“The hotel was close to everything and I really enjoyed it.” Apr 10, 2008 by
Jp from Toronto, ON CA
“This hotel is in a great location, walking distance to everywhere in South Beach. The room was on the small side and relatively clean. The white walls showed dirt, the easy chair in the room was white and very dirty/worn and the bathroom was very clean except that the toilet was badly stained and needed to be replaced. The bed wasn't the most comfortable nor was it as big as you would expect a queen size bed to be. All in all, I would only stay there again if I got a great bargain and I would not recommend it to my friends.” Mar 31, 2008 by
Jamie from Silver Spring, MD
“I thought this hotel was great. The parking although more expensive than it needed to be, was convenient. The hotel is on the beach and the pool area is nice. The staff was friendly and helpful to me and the group I was traveling with. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant because the hotel is about a 5 to ten minute walk to all the restaurants. The room was clean and comfortable and it had enough space for the two of us.” Mar 29, 2008 by
Keith from Somerville, MA
“The location is great in that it's on the beach and far enough away from the craziness of South Beach, but close enough for easy access. It is simple, nothing glitzy or glamorous. Just be aware that the walls are old and thin, so noise travels through them easily.” Mar 29, 2008 by
Amy from Findlay, OH
“After I won a room at The Richmond I called to make sure we could have two beds, none available as these rooms are too small. Woman on the phone did not know proper phone etiquette because when I asked for other options she said they only had available a suite to hold four people. Very snobbish sounding. I said "okay" and was going on to look at booking an additional room, but she cut me off and said "okay" then hung up on me. Unbelievable! I was totally annoyed and decided not to stay there at all and lose my paid hotel room. I booked another on Miami Beach for same price directly and was quite satisfied there.” Mar 28, 2008 by
Michael from Gainesville, FL
“Great location, but did not meet the expectation of its 2.5 stars. Clean except for the bath. Nice pool area, shows directly to the beach. Great position, close to Downtown. They offer a valet parking service, but there's a park-house on 17th street for half the daily price (you should not move your car, though).” Mar 27, 2008 by
Vincent from Pittsburgh, PA
“Great location. Disinterested, lethargic, indifferent staff. Cleanliness a major flaw (lack thereof).” Mar 26, 2008 by
Dima from Thornhill, ON CA
“The hotel only has 1 bed in the room so if you booked it for 2 people hoping each one will have his own bed then you are out of luck. The room that has 1 bed doesn't even have the king size only seems to be a queen at most. The lobby serve is so slow that be prepared to wait for 30 min for them to serve one customer (oh and they only serve one person at a time). The cleaning lady walks in even when you have "do not disturb" sign on the door.” Mar 26, 2008 by
Jorge from San Antonio, TX
“I went there with the impression that if a room with 2 beds was available I could get it, but instead I was told that unfortunately they do not have rooms with two beds at all.” Feb 13, 2008 by
Allan from St. Laurent, QC CA
“All in all, a very pleasant experience. It is an old hotel so it doesn't offer the amenities of a newer hotel, but for location, it cannot be beat. I read a lot of negative reviews of the hotel, but our experience was quite positive.” Feb 2, 2008 by
Ernie from Sandusky, OH
“Great location.” Jan 27, 2008 by
Gary from Jersey City, NJ
“The Richmond offers great value for the price. The rooms are small but pleasant. The location is ideal. The pool and Jacuzzi were terrific, and there is easy access to a beautiful stretch of the beach.” Jan 25, 2008 by
Peter from Madison, WI
“I would recommend this hotel to people who are not used to much from hotel accommodations. There was no internet, no microwave, and the walls were so thin, they might as well not even have been there. The floor was carpeted by a sixth grader and the floor was so hollow that it sounded like a stampede. The bed was good and there was a refrigerator there. I was at best. Ok.” Jan 22, 2008 by
Troy A. from Grand Prairie, TX
“We loved the hotel; it is cute, clean and has a great pool and access to the beach. The room was nice with a closet and mini fridge, but no coffee maker and that was an issue for us. The hotel does not provide complimentary coffee, although there is a cafe in the back lobby with a fair menu, prices are spendy. The location is great, very close to the city parking garage and we would stay here again.” Jan 21, 2008 by
Bruce from Sugar Land, TX
“Staff was very friendly and helpful. Dislikes were older TV's on TV stands, no usable shelf space in the bathrooms, small rooms and no ability to adjust the room temperature due to a central air system. Very frustrating when you are trying to cool off.” Jan 17, 2008 by
Michael from Skokie, IL
“If you don't mind the bad smell, the toilet flushing every other time, a tiny bed, and ridiculously expensive parking prices, then this is the place for you.” Jan 17, 2008 by
Peter from Owings Mills, MD
“Hotel Richmond is a nice and well kept small Art Deco Hotel in Central Miami Beach. Only 2 blocks away from the Miami Convention Center, Lincoln Mall and directly at the beach it is an ideal location for Convention Visitors, who also want to enjoy their time in Miami.” Jan 15, 2008 by
Rick from Alexandria, VA
“Richmond is a nice hotel that is a good value in an area of high end hotels. Great location near the beach and plenty of stores and places to eat.” Jan 9, 2008 by
Mike from Asheville, NC
“The Richmond Hotel is a quaint, smaller hotel, that is very accommodating, without the large crowds. Food and atmosphere choices are all around the hotel.” Jan 9, 2008 by
Amy from Portsmouth, VA
“Awful. Way not worth the money.” Jan 3, 2008 by
Dana N. from Delray Beach, FL
“Compared to the hotels I have stayed in Miami Beach, this hotel is like a 2 1/2 star. It's like they took a 2 star hotel and stylized it. Checking-in was not seamless. I was hoping to check-in quickly. Instead, the door look of the first room did not lock. A person can enter without a key. So I got a second room. The room was missing a stand for the luggage that the first room had. I had a problem with the standing lamp. The lamp shade had an angled edge. Fortunately, the edges were not level to my eyes. I was not crazy about this hotel.” Jan 1, 2008 by
Hyoungguen from Glendale, AZ
“However, at this time, it was a sort of terrible experience.” Jan 1, 2008 by
Melissa A. from Palm City, FL
“I expected a hotel less than 3 stars to be dumpy. I was pleasantly surprised. Loved the robes in the closet. Great location, friendly staff.” Jan 1, 2008 by
Ralph from Durham, NC
“I found a number of rabidly hostile reviews of this hotel online, but having spent a week there, I see little justification for them. The location is terrific, if you're there to enjoy the beach and the restaurants and shops of south beach. My room was small but tidy, and the bed (queen size) was very comfortable. As far as I could tell, there was no air conditioning, but I felt no need for it, being there in December. A number of reviewers complain that the walls are thin, but I heard little noise from other rooms; it may have helped that I was there in December, as I had the impression the hotel wasn't full.” Dec 19, 2007 by
Michelle from Buford, GA
“This hotel was not what I expected; it couldn't accommodate more than two people. When people travel its usually in groups not in twos.” Dec 19, 2007 by
Ken from Port Huron, MI
“Good location for someone who has never been to Miami before, but don't listen to the lobby attendant about getting to the airport too early.” Sep 28, 2007 by
Stephanie from New Berlin, WI
“My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel. This was our 4th time visiting South Beach and by far this was the best hotel for its price. Great location! The outside was well maintained with its orange glowing Richmond Hotel sign in front. Lobby was clean and staff at the desk was friendly. The rooms were cleaned everyday and the bathroom was actually really nice compared to some of the hotels we ran in to. The only thing bad about the shower was that it seemed to run really hot water! Anyways, moving down to the pool bar area; was very cute. The pool was chill and the lady at the bar who also made the food was very nice. Good drinks, good food. Overall, I would for sure go back here. It's not like a W Hotel, but it's South Beach. People are here to party, not to snuggle in a room all day.” Aug 31, 2007 by
Manish from Prospect Park, NJ
“The hotel is great if you are traveling with a partner We stayed with kids. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't good either. The room size is small and they dont have king size beds. The hotel location is excellent and the pool area is great and the staff is friendly.” Aug 4, 2007 by
L from Orlando, FL
“It's an alright hotel in an excellent location.” Jul 29, 2007 by
Taranee from Tampa, FL
“The bathrooms are very small, and the room only has 1 bed, so if you are traveling with kids or a non-romantic partner it wouldn't be good. It is better to park in a public parking lot for $8/day than to pay $25-$35/day at the hotel.” Jul 24, 2007 by
Charles from Hutto, TX
“Ideal hotel if you are going to stay just one night and your plan is only to sleep there and no more.” Jul 10, 2007 by
Bruce from Cockeysville, MD
“The hotel's Website displays a great view of the beach. My "view" was of palm trees right against the window. I was literally unable to see 20 feet. It was July, and my room was very warm, despite my turning the so-called air conditioning up all the way. I know this was an old building, so I guess it is not the fault of the staff that the hotel was extremely noisy. I could hear all conversations in adjoining rooms, people snoring, shoes being tossed on the floor above me, etc. My room had a desk but no chairs. The basket was the size of a Kleenex box. Only about two-thirds of the 20 or so channels on the TV were actually viewable -- for four days, the receiver was "searching for satellite signal" which never, of course, could be found. There was no room service, no vending machines I could locate, and the ice machine was down the hall inside a very hot closet that was slightly larger than the machine itself, so the ice was already semi-melting when one got it. Plus it took about five minutes to get hot water. I did not attempt to park at the hotel, though they have valet parking, as the space available to drop off one's car was about as large as three cars. That is actually good, as it turned out that valet parking cost double what all other parking cost (that is not unusual, of course), but also there was a sign saying not to expect one's car within 30 minutes of requesting it. So I instead parked about half a mile away in a garage. In case you have not yet discerned this fact, I did not like the Richmond. To be fair, all the staff was uniformly friendly.” Jun 27, 2007 by
Joo W. from Gainesville, FL
“Excellent place if you want to stay in the Miami Beach area with a small budget.” Jun 6, 2007 by
Rory from Charlotte, NC
“I do not think I will go with this hotel again. The only thing that was good about it was the location.” May 28, 2007 by
Salomon from New Jersey, NJ
“The worst hotel in my life.” May 16, 2007 by
Kris from Perth Amboy, NJ
“This is an older hotel, which I expected. The location was great. Could not have asked for a better location. I just wish the rooms were more modern and spacious. Only 1 queen size bed in the rooms, however, there were 3 people in my party. Was forced to get another hotel room.” May 10, 2007 by
Miriam from Marion, IA
“Very nice, historic hotel in the art deco style. Enjoyed the intimate pool area and the fact that the hotel backed up right to the beach.” May 10, 2007 by
Hugh from Birmingham, AL
“The location is near the heart of south beach. The restaurant (especially breakfast) and pool are excellent. The rooms are hot, small bathrooms, and the beds are extremely uncomfortable. For a family run hotel, I found the front desk staff to be unpleasant. Also, no double beds in the hotel.” May 2, 2007 by
Rhonda from Broken Arrow, OK
“One of my frustrations aside from the quality of the hotel.” Apr 22, 2007 by
Mike from Fall River, NS CA
“A moderately attractive hotel with a nice pool area but no services anywhere unless we went to front desk. Other than remarks above our stay was very nice.” Apr 18, 2007 by
Norm from Philadelphia, PA
“I tried to get a room at a hotel which costs about 4 times as much. It's Miami so no shocker. My friends who stayed at the pricey hotel ended up getting a crappy room, and had to share with another group of friends since they over booked. The room quality was on par with that of the Richmond. The Richmond is right next to the Ritz Carlton, the National, and other more star places. The beach access and quality behind the hotels are very similar, though the price for the Richmond was way less than that of the other hotels. The buildings in south beach all look drably, so what are you paying for? The service. That is where the difference comes in between the Richmond and the pricier ones next door. I spent time in both. All in all for a hundred bones the Richmond was a great deal, just don¿t expect great attitude and service at the front desk.” Apr 11, 2007 by
Rami from Cupertino, CA
“The hotel is okay if you come as a couple. The hotel has a policy against families with young children. It does not allow adding beds into the room and hotel stuff did not agree to open the connecting door between two different rooms.” Feb 8, 2007 by
John from Toronto, ON CA
“Located right on beach, has pool, hot tub. A very short walk (less than 10 minutes) to ocean drive.”
