• Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Very comfortable bed and the hotel were beautiful.
• The room was a little small; the bell boy had to climb stairs with our luggage, not at all elegant!

“Overall, a very nice hotel. The neighboring hotels had live entertainment, and seemed a little more exotic. The rooms were nice for the age of the hotel, and the staff was extremely good at their jobs! Parking was very expensive at $29.00 a night.”

• Pool and outdoor area was excellent.
• Took a long time to get served and waited on at restaurant.

“Overall, the experience was good. Would stay there again, room was clean, quiet area-no noise, bed was really comfy! Pool area was great with pool bar but the service in the Tavares restaurant was really slow all the time.”

• The warm chocolate cookie that they welcome us with at the entrance.
• That we couldn't enjoy it more than just one 1 night. We had to check out.

• Conveniently located with a nice pool area.
• No oceanfront rooms and didn't offer any type of upgrade.

“The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially the bell captains. I would stay again at the price we paid.”

• The staff including the housekeeping dept. Was very professional and seemed to like their jobs.
• Floors were very dirty; carpets in need of vacuuming and shampoo.

“The hotel really needs to get a makeover. Even if it is just fresh paint with coordinating artwork and other updated decor. The furniture in the room is nicked and scratched so certain pieces should be replaced if they cannot afford all new furniture. Just because it has a great location and has the Doubletree level of service does not mean they should expect guests to tolerate the poor condition of the building.”

• The bed.
• Small rooms, Dirty Elevators & hall ways.

“The hotel lobby was nice, however, the hallways were small & dirty. Elevator can only hold 2 people with luggage at a time (small). The rooms are smaller than a den with everything crammed in them. Would never stay at this hotel again, motel 6 is better!”

• The noise, just too much!

“Nice hotel, but they need to clean public place especially hallway carpet other than that very attractive hotel. A nice room! But the noise was just too much; we couldn¿t sleep at night till 2am bacon of the noise of the pal running around and laugh so loud. ”

• Fantastic location beachfront near safe shopping/dining.
• Windows in room don't open - no way to take in fresh sea air!

“Fine example of doubletree. Classy, warm, modern, with nice, professional staff. Location couldn't be better in heart of so be shopping/nightlife, with anything you could want less than 10 minutes' walk away. Windows in room don't open, as seems to be the case all over Miami beach - inexplicable.”

• Right on the beach with nice pool and restaurant.
• Room was small, but nice. Drinks were way too expensive.

“Hotel was nice for the price I paid. They were in the process of changing every mattress in the place, so that is a good sign. Nice staff and very friendly. Valet service takes awhile to get the car, but they are were very nice.”

• The location is not bad.
• Was not terribly clean; room was small.

“The Surf comber is more or less close enough to walk to everything in South Beach, and the pool is an attempt at a stylish resort. Those are the good points. On the negative side, the room was small, the elevator is filthy and the food is not very good. Overall it was convenient and cheap. If that is what you need, you will be fine. Otherwise, you can find other centrally located but slightly better quality hotels in the same area.”

• Nice Location.
• Paper thin walls (you can hear the person next to you breath).

“nice, but paper thin walls and small rooms. The worst aspect is the paper thin walls; best - location - best in south beach (close but not right in sleazy ocean drive). Lincoln road is classier place.”

• Excellent beach location, nice pool area.
• Room was a bit small, mandatory valet parking was expensive, no refrigerator in room.

“My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night only and had a wonderful time. The best part about the hotel is definitely the location. The actual room itself was small and less than great. Overall, we were very satisfied with the value we got and have been recommending the service to friends and family.”

• The hole outside of the pool area.
• Lack of security there is no checking of people walking into hotel elevators.

“The hotel is located walking distance to beach and restaurants, has a beautiful pool area with easy access to the beach. But, lack of security in the lobby, anyone could walk into the hotel and enter the elevator without being asked.”

• Can hear noisy neighbors, even on floor above.

“A block away from Lincoln shopping, short walk to restaurants and clubs on Ocean Drive, easy access to the boardwalk, as well as being oceanfront (don't have to cross busy streets to get to beach). The pool and Tiki Bar area is nice. The room was small, but clean. It was a nice touch for Doubletree to supply a warm cookie, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, as well as coffee maker. Staff was friendly, and provided a complimentary breakfast when I got stuck on the elevator (door wouldn't open on the 1st floor). They were also very quick to fix a problem with water dripping from the air conditioner into the closet. Like many places in the area, drinks and meals were pretty expensive. Also, the window in the room only had a sheer curtain, which allowed a lot of sunlight early in the morning. I was surprised to hear more noise (footsteps, dropping things) from the room above, than the rooms next to me. Overall, it was a positive experience.”

• The bed at the hotel was extremely comfortable and had a good on the beach location!
• The pool at the hotel was very dirty.

“Overall, the hotel was a great with good on the beach location, close to all the hot spots, and an extremely comfortable bed. The only negative was the pool. The hotel said on the website that they had a great pool but it was dirty and was not anything special. Also, drinks by the pool are way over priced, $9 for a strawberry daiquiri.”

“Having said that, it was clean, the staff was cooperative, and everything worked. It was just very small, the window looked on another building about 8 feet away, and the walls were paper thin.”

• The hotel treated all the guest like royalty. This must be what the "Stars" get all the time!
• The rooms were really small. We booked for 2 double beds and they barely fit in the rooms.

“I would definitely stay again at the Doubletree Surfcomber. The pool was beautiful! The staff is second to none. I've never experienced such wonderful treatment from a hotel staff.”

• Great location, modern rooms and
  staff was friendly.
• My toilet was broken and after maintenance fixed it - they didn't clean up the floor etc.

“With the exception of a toilet that overflowed - and the maintenance staff that didn't clean up the mess after they fixed the toilet - the hotel was great. The location was wonderful, the staff friendly and it was quiet enough to sleep”

“Heated Olympic sized pool was fantastic. Valet parking is expensive. Staff was friendly. South Beach location within a ten minute walk of the action. You can't beat the Doubletree cookie at check-in. I would stay there again.”

“The hotel was very clean, professional front desk staff and excellent service at the restaurant. Concierge desk was not as helpful as hoped. Concierge did not provide service requested at time requested. Effort was there but did not follow-through to completion. Stay was very satisfying and would stay at this hotel again when in town. Close to beach, shopping, clubs and tours. Great location and the price was great when comparing against Hotels.com, Travelocity and Expedia.”

“The Surfcomber was the perfect hotel for the price. It is right on the beach, close to the South Beach nightlife, and has a great pool and bar. It is clean and the staff was very nice. While in South Beach, you are going to spend very little time in your hotel, might as well get a good deal and stay here.”
