“I thought that the rooms were a little small for a 4 star hotel. I had to request regular coffee for the room as it only had decaf. I had to request toilet paper as it had not been replenished by the maid service.

• We stayed last year and were very impressed. The rooms were comfortable, clean and the air conditioning was working.
• Under construction.

“The home page for The Westin, Fort Lauderdale, does not say that it is being renovated/under construction. The room we stayed in smelled very damp and moldy although everything looked clean. The air conditioner was not working properly and I think that is why the room smelled damp. We had gone to the Marlin game and arrived at the hotel very late. We drove around 300 miles that day and were very tired. I coughed all night from the mold & mildew. When I went down to the desk to check out the next morning, I told the clerk about our experience. She offered us a free breakfast. We already had breakfast, so we politely thanked the desk clerk and were on our way.”

• The complimentary water in the room is a nice touch.
• Long walk from parking, parking was chargeable not valet), major construction going on.

“My stay at this Weston was less than pleasant. Finished my business early and was glad to leave after staying one day, paid for two days. Have stayed at this hotel many times over the years but won't be staying there again do to the daily self parking charge and very long walk from the parking lot (where self parking is). Room service is expensive for mediocre food quality.”

• Bed and bath were very comfortable, pool area was very nice.
• Nickel and dime to death. Pay to park, pay for internet.

“This is a beautiful building, very nice/clean rooms. Very comfortable bed, great shower heads! Disappointed to not be able to hook up a WiFi system to TV. Very irritated that parking was available everywhere but I was charged $10/day for parking. Cheap hotel have free internet not here more charges. As we were traveling for sports purposes it would have been nice to be able to launder uniforms on site no laundry facility available for guests. We did not get a chance to dine in restaurants but the room service meal we got was very good (especially desert!).”

• Very friendly staff and very helpful.
• Many chips off Formica furniture in room. Newly renovated but used furniture?.

“Hotel was nice with nice exercise room. Pool was disgusting with big areas of black mold type substance on walls and floor of pool. One pool light was out of its location and laying in overflow area of pool - very dangerous! Many light around pool were old and broken, broken glass on floodlight, bare wires, etc. For a recently remodeled hotel this was disappointing as we spent a large part of our stay around pool. Very old furniture-needs replacing. Live iguanas around pool were a big hit with kids.”

• The room was very nice. The bed was very nice. They had Starbucks coffee in the room.
• You have to pay for parking and everything else.

“It was a wonderful hotel and the beds were nice. A nice pool. The bad thing is everything is a extra cost. You need to watch your bill they had an internet charge on our bill. You had to pay $10.00 to park for a day.”

• The bed, the shower, the desk clerk and the lobby.
• The pool was neglected, the hot tub was not working, the deck chairs were in need of attention and the pool fountain was dirty and nasty.

“Was really looking forward to hanging out by the pool and enjoying the spa. Big let down was that the pool has patches of mold and cracked cement; older lawn chairs, and the spa was broken and the scenic fountain hasn't been kept up. The room was very nice, the bed was awesome. I would stay here again.”

“The hotel is clean and the property is nice, but it is 16 miles from the airport and there is nothing to do in the immediate area. It is a 1 mile walk to the nearest non hotel restaurant or entertainment.”

• Nice, clean and spacious rooms.
• Staff was very slow and did not have our room ready for 2 hrs after we got there.

“Everything was great but my husband wanted to surprise me and had asked the staff to have chocolate covered strawberries in the room before we get there. He had called the day before and was constantly on the phone to make sure everything was ready when we get there. But we had to wait 2 hrs at the lobby and still when we went in the room there was nothing there no strawberries he was very disappointed.”

• The location.
• They have the nerve to charge for Parking and bar prices totally out of control.

“This is a nice Westin but it is not on the beach, yet they charge for parking, which is insane. This is a hotel off the interstate. The bar prices are inline with the Westin Diplomat at the beach, over priced. Nine dollars for a glass of twist off wine. Very insulting! I really felt very nickel and dimmed.”

• The staff at this hotel went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. They were wonderful!
• The location was not ideal. No entertainment/restaurants within walking distance.

“The Westin was a very nice hotel. The pool is was a beautiful place to just relax and talk at night; the staff was very helpful and kind. They went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. The rooms were fine. I would have appreciated a continental breakfast or airport shuttles.”

• The whole staff was very friendly.
• The pool was closed at 5:00 for a private party.

“The Westin was a wonderful place to start our vacation. The front desk person could not have been more helpful. The room, done in grays and black with red velvet curtains was gorgeous. The bathroom, spacious and very pretty. The grounds were well maintained, and the pool area was beautiful, with a waterfall, right next to a lagoon. I can't wait to go back.”

• Excellent access to I-95.
• Fire alarm at 2:30 am and dingy hallways.

“This hotel is a Westin in name only. The hallways were dingy, the rooms were slightly above average, etc. Having stayed at other Westins, this one was a let-down.”

• The hotel room decor needs to be updated. They shouldn't charge hotel guests for parking.

• They charge for internet. I know it is standard but it is ridiculous.

“Westins are always comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly but you go to a Westin for the bed. This one is not exactly in the middle of the action, but it is a good clean hotel with easy parking.”

• They upgraded us to a junior suite.
• The hotel needed maintenance, hot tub and sauna did not work, not clean.

“This hotel needs some serious maintenance. It has the potential to be a 4 star hotel; however the exterior has been neglected and cannot be described as a resort like setting. Basically, this is a large hotel with a restaurant.”

• Paying for parking. That is a big issue of mine.

“The hotel and staff were very courteous. It was very clean in a location that was easy to find and close to a lot of attractions. I didn't like the idea of paying for parking. I think this is unfair because of the price of the hotel. Parking should be included to all guests that are staying at the hotel.”

• Room renovation; banging, sawing at 9 am on Sun. morning - poor planning.

“This hotel was nice, but they put me on the 14th floor where they were renovating rooms, also on the 15th. There was constant hammering, sawing. Even on Sunday morning at 8 am. So much for the "peace" sign posted on my door.”

• The main pool. The general location of the hotel and the gardens of the hotel.
• The performance of the staff. They were arrogance (Breakfast). Not very helpful.

• Centrally located to all areas we visited.
• Hotel pool disappointing.. not enough chairs during peak times.. no cocktail waitress.

“The good: Centrally located. 10-20 minutes from beaches, downtown, casino and major shopping. Bed was exceptional, room was recently remodeled. Hotel staff friendly. The bad: Inconsistent maid service. The ugly: Not enough lounge chairs at pool. Chairs were heavy wood and difficult to move. No cocktail waitress at pool. $10 per day for parking”

• The hotel was clean.
• Did not like having to pay $10 a day for self-parking.

“This hotel definitely does not fit the 4 Star rating expected. The staff did not fit that of a 4 star hotel. The hotel was convenient to the airport and the expressway. I would recommend it if you need a clean place to stay without a lot of extras. No restaurants within walking distance.”

• The rooms were very comfortable, over-sized, great bed.
• The service was spotty; housekeeping left our room open for an entire day.

“The location was convenient, and the rooms are very luxurious. However, housekeeping was inconsistent. We had to repeatedly ask for refills of coffee, soap, shampoo, etc. Sometimes, we had turn-down service in the evenings, sometimes not. A mini-bar fridge was out in our hallway during our entire stay - a bit of a hazard and an eye-sore. Most significantly, our hotel room was left unlocked by the housekeeping staff for a whole day while we were out; Im surprised that nothing went missing. On the other hand, front desk staff was always obliging, and well-informed. So - with a bit of improvement in the housekeeping department, I would safely give this hotel 4 star.”

• The Buffet dinner & the exercise room.
• The buffet was not serviced on Friday nights.

“I really enjoyed my stay. The staff was friendly & helpful with helping locate & get to places I needed to go. The exercise room was well equipped & I used it everyday, during my stay. The Buffet was serviced Sunday - Thursday. It was disappointing that it was not available Friday night. I had invited a friend to join me & we had to go off site for dinner.”
