• Cleanliness of my carpet and the smell of smoke though I asked for a non-smoking room.

“The hotel was adequate. This one was just okay. The one in Norfolk and Fort Lauderdale beach (Yankee Trader) were both beautiful.”

• Nice suite and great beds.
• Hotel going under renovations and to far from beach.

“Very loud in early morning with construction activity. Keys deactivated countless times. Ice machine broken. Terrible tasting food on breakfast buffet. Would not recommend for vacation travelers. Had to move twice due to the reconstruction even after a call to see if the renovations would be a issue. 2nd move the front desk gave us a key to another occupied room and walked in on the guest that was staying there. Overall I would say a disappointment in the choice.”

• Half and half in the room for coffee.
• Teeny tiny TV.

“While I really appreciate the half and half for my coffee, I really hated the 13 inch diagonal TV screen in the bedroom. Also I don't appreciate the high extra charge for Wi-Fi. Business travelers need internet connections and it should not be an extra charge item. (Yes I know it's common in 3 star hotels, but it shouldn't be and whoever is first to abolish this ridiculous custom will get my loyalty.).”

• Size of room.
• Under construction. Very old and worn.

“The hotel was badly in need of renovation. Some construction was going on during our stay. Lots of noise from 8am to 6pm! Carpets were stained. Linens were very shabby and furnishings were old and worn. The restaurant prices were so high that we did not eat in the hotel. The location to parkways was the only positive thing about this hotel. I would never stay there again!”

• The lobby.
• The rooms needed to be freshening up, new paint, carpet and bathrooms.

“The hotel is nice but the rooms just need to be repainted along with new carpet and fixtures. Great concept with a sitting area separate from the bedroom. The lobby is very relaxing with the ponds etc.”

• The location was great for my first time in Fort Lauderdale.
• There was a somewhat offensive odor in the hotel.

“Loved the fact that there was a wedding on Saturday that we could view from our balcony. Very beautiful surroundings and view. Saw fireworks on the beach from our room. Room was spacious, bed very comfortable. Food was over priced at the hotel restaurant - $4.00 for one cup of Starbucks!”

• Dirty. Poor upkeep. Parking lot under water. Rooms not cleaned.

“When we arrived, the parking lot surrounding the hotel was underwater. We couldn't even drive around to find parking spot, because standing water was up to doors of cars. Water did not recede until next morning. We waited about 15 minutes for anyone to show up at front desk. The rooms were old and smelled of mildew. Looked as if it hadn't been renovated in 20 years.”

“This was a very pleasant stay. My wife and I actually booked for a second night after looking around at other hotels. There is a train system within ear shot of the hotel, but this did not affect our sleep at all. The staff was very helpful and the beds very comfortable. I will stay here again when I am in the fort Lauderdale area.”

• Pool and surroundings and turtles in center.
• Tried to get extra towels from the front desk twice went down and got them myself.

“Elevators on back side took a while to travel due to the number of staff people using them need a dedicated elevator for guests only liked the pool and area around the pool a lot was very plush.”

• The view of the center of the hotel.
• It had a small bathroom.

“The hotel was nice. I think the most attractive part was the lobby and the center of it. You get the view when you walk out of your room. We wished that the bathroom was just a bit roomier. The bed was comfortable though and the pillows were even better.”

• The lobby was gorgeous and the staff extremely accommodating.
• There was not a TV in the bedroom only the suite.

“In a northern area of ft Lauderdale, out of the mainstream of downtown and the beaches, this magnificent hotel with a European look to the lobby is an oasis. The bartender can mix an excellent mango banana smoothie creatively to taste and request, free after 4 pm if paying for one other drink. The furniture is lovely. The staff is swift in meeting all needs. I would return. It was luxury.”

• I really enjoyed the suite's layout, and the overall feel of the hotel. The hotel lobby bar was good too.
• 2 phone calls both under 3 minutes to Orlando cost $30.00, staff unhelpful about this.

“The hotel was very nicely appointed, and the rooms were a great size. I was a little disappointed with the bottom of the tub being stained and dirty. When I checked in the gentleman was very friendly, and I was generally impressed by the hotel lobby, atrium, and patio. My stay, however, ended with a sour note when I checked out. I made two phone calls to Orlando that were both less than three minutes each. This was over thirty dollars. When I inquired, the person at the desk could only explain that I must pay a 95% surcharge on top of what the phone company charges. I found that a little hard to swallow.”

• Located immediately near a train track and crossing gate.

“Beautiful hotel lobby and first floor. Excellent staff; very helpful. However, my room faced the southeast and there was a train track and crossing gate approximately 200' away. The train roared past every half hour or so, horn blaring constantly, all night long. It was very annoying and made for two sleepless nights.”

• The rooms were large and spacious, free parking.
• Planes, trains & automobiles - rooms were very loud.

“The hotel was very nice from the lobby. The free parking was a bonus and the hotel staff was friendly. However, the rooms were also spacious with a lounge area, fridge and microwave so it is nice for those traveling in a family. However, the rooms were very musty smelling and smelled of dust which irritated my nose all night. Also, the hotel is close to the busiest highway in Florida and you can hear the constant stream of cars going by, planes landing every 2 minutes since it is close to the airport, and commuter & freight trains going by every 5 minutes since it is right beside the railroad tracks. If you are looking to get some sleep at this hotel, you should look elsewhere. Otherwise the hotel is ok.”

• Large suite with refrigerator and microwave.
• Located on a busy road next to a train crossing, very noisy with a train blowing its horn every 30 minutes.

“Very beautiful hotel, attentive staff, but located on a busy street with a train that goes by every 30 minutes and blows its horn as it passes by. Very disturbing in the middle of the night. You don't get a breakfast, and you have to pay for internet service. It is definitely 3-4 star quality for the hotel itself, but if you need a good night's sleep you might want to go elsewhere.”

• Near a commuter train crossing. Horn blew constantly!

“Nice hotel, but pool was closed. Comfortable suite room would be great for business traveler. Bed linens very nice. Unfortunately, the commuter train goes across a crossing that is very near the hotel, and the horn blew very late and very early. Difficult to sleep. Not the hotels fault, but had a negative impact on our stay.”

• I was very impressed by the setup of the room and cleanliness.
• There was not much to do in the hotel.

“I was first concerned when making the reservations, sight unseen but after visiting this hotel, I was unexpectedly surprised and very pleased with everything. The hotel lobby was beautiful and the setup of the room was very nice. I would definitely recommend.”

• Filthy carpet in elevator area outside room #716!

“Nice lobby, friendly, accommodating staff, old, grimy, shop-worn rooms need renovating. We felt cheated at the price we paid considering what we paid at the 2 star Springhill Suites in Glen Allen, Virginia the week before. Springhill was Excellent! And breakfast was complementary!! Would hope not to ever land back at this Sheraton in North Ft Lauderdale again!!”

• The train runs right next to the hotel and woke me up every hour.
