• Friendly staff, several amenities and services.
• Seems dated; it could use a facelift and refreshing.

“Though the staff was friendly and fairly attentive, the decor and room fixtures seem to be in need of an update/upgrade. Overall there appeared to be adequate services to make it a comfortable place to stay.”

• Clean and staff was accommodating when we arrived very early.
• A festival was going on in the local park at the base of the hotel. Music loud into the night.

• Location, general design, cleanliness, friendliness of staff.
• Food prices were too high.

“It is a very good place to stay. We heard almost no noises in the hallway or from adjacent rooms during the night. The bedding was clean and fresh. The number of TV channels available was very good. The staff members were all very friendly and courteous.”

• Large clean room and bathroom.
• Expensive valet.

“The location was perfectly located next to Bayside Park. Shopping, dining, and leisure activities were close by. I would definitely stay there again. The room was large and clean. The bathroom and bedroom had nice decor. The lobby was beautiful and the Starbucks inside the hotel was a nice touch. We stopped by there before having a picnic at Bayside.”

• Location.
• Poor staff.

“Non-smoking room smelled horribly of smoke during check-in. After calling to inform them, I was told, "wait there, we'll send someone up." So I thought someone would come up to confirm the smoke smell and move us to another room. Instead, a non-English speaking elderly maintenance man walked in spraying highly intoxicating perfume smelling substances to mask the cigarette smoke smell. So I called again and was informed I could get a new room, to wait there and someone would bring me the new keys. I waited 20 minutes for someone to bring the keys - after I called twice on the courtesy line near the elevators to wonder what was taking so long. Absolutely absurd and something we did not need to experience during a honeymoon.”

• The view of the harbor and cruise ships of which we were boarding the next morning.
• I am sorry I can't think of one thing!

“This was our second stay - Dec 2007 and Aug. 2008 it was easy to get to and I can't say enough about the view, will stay again on our next cruise out of the port of Miami.”

• Much of the staff left me cold.

“This is definitely a good hotel, but being exceptional is in the details and in this department they fall a bit short. The room was well worth the price.”

• View from the room and location to Downtown.
• The extra fees for parking and snacks in the room.

“The Intercontinental in Downtown Miami is a nice hotel located right at the waterfront near bayside hut. The convenience and view are the real stars of this hotel. The decor and staff are not greatest but will suffice for any business traveler. Not the best place for a romantic getaway. But still the rooms were clean and comfortable. I would stay there again just because of the great location.”

• Parking is expensive.

“Parking is very expensive here. Bell hops are very friendly however valet workers not so much. The shower in my room had terrible water pressure and the whole tub could use replacing. Other than that this hotel is great.”

• Convenient to the port of Miami. Impressive lobby. Fantastic views from room.
• The Intercontinental in Boston, the rooms there were more luxurious, the lobby in Miami was more impressive.

“If visiting Miami on business, this hotel had many amenities. The rooms are functional. The one that I stayed in was comfortable. The beds and linens were very comfortable. But, if you have stayed in any of the other intercontinental hotels you know the luxury that some of the rooms have. The one that I stayed in was nice but not really luxurious.”

• The close vicinity of shops, restaurants, etc.
• The poor facilities in the lobby, there is e.g. only a gift shop with a very small selection of goods that van be bought.

“We paid $ 90 for the room and stayed 2 nights. When we arrived, we asked for a room with harbor view. This was only possible if we paid an additional $25 p/(which we did not) and so we got a room overlooking part of Bay-side and the street. When my husband suddenly fell ill and I went looking for something light to eat there were no shops in/ near the hotel lobby other than a gift shop where there was not much choice. Room service took over half an hour to be delivered. The room was clean, bathroom satisfactory. The hotel has only valet parking.”

• Exceptional room and atmosphere.
• Very expensive parking.

“Excellent location in the heart of Miami. The rooms are over the top. Parking was an extra $24/night. And the bar was expensive. The maid added on a water and 2 sparkling waters to the bill that I did not use. This was not noticed until I left the hotel. So I was scammed about $15. ”

• The location was excellent. Walking distance to Bayside Marketplace shopping and dining. Beautiful view.
• Very low water pressure in the shower.

“Excellent location, walk through the park to Bayside Marketplace for shopping or dining. Beautiful view of Biscayne Bay. Close to cruise ship terminal. Concierge was very friendly and helpful. Staff was courteous. Rooms were clean and spacious. Our only complaint would be poor water pressure in the shower.”

• Plumbing issues that could have been taken care of before we arrived.

“The Intercontinental Hotel in Downtown Miami was perfect for our overall needs. It was close to the Port of Miami which was perfect for getting to our cruise ship the next day. There were also a lot of restaurants and shopping within walking distance.”

• really nice rooms, good modern urban Miami look, friendly staff
• nothing, it was really nice

“The Intercontinental met and exceded out expecations. We usually stay in South Beach but got this hit and it was really great! We even had our two young children with us and they enjoyed it too. Nice big pool all to ourselves, very slick lobby, very nice and decent sized rooms, very friendly staff... my very well traveled 8 year old says 5 stars instead of 4...”

• It was a great location if you are going on a cruise. The Port of Miami is nearby, and the view is beautiful.
• The breakfast buffet is very pricey, especially for a family. Order room service and save a little!

“The location of the Intercontinental Hotel is ideal for people heading off for a cruise. There are restaurants nearby for dinner. The hotel restaurant prices are very high. $20/per person for the breakfast buffet. However, we did appreciate the location with the Port of Miami nearby.”

“The hotel was conveniently located near shoping and restarurants. Parking was more expensive than I had thought. The room was tastefully decorated with many ammenities and a beautiful view. I would reccommend the hotel whether you are traveling for business or pleasure.”

“My boyfriend and I went for our birthday's 5/19 and 5/20 ...The hotel was gorgeous! if you want a romantic surrounding this is the spot. right off the ocean ..literally right out the front door ..bay front is walking distance with shopping, horse drawn carriages, live jazz and salsa , great restaurants, mini cruises etc. We had a rental car and went to south beach which was 15 or 20 minutes away ...perfect location and value for our money. we even saw dolphins outside our window in the morning.”

• Since we were taking a cruise the location and view were fabulous!
• The price for a pot of coffee in the AM was $18.00

“The hotel was beautiful, the view of the Port of Miami was breathtaking but the extra amenities were quite pricey and there was nowhere else to get coffee early in the AM so room service was it and the $18 price tag seemed a bit extreme.”

“This was truly a magically weekend! From the moment of my arrival the staff made me feel like a VIP. There was attention from staff member to the smallest detail. They upgraded me immediately to VIP Ambassador Status, which provided me with comps for my entire stay. I've been living in a hotel for the past 7 weeks, this 2 day stay stands out as the most special treatment (and I've had great service many times during these past 7 weeks), I have received. All I can say is, spoil yourself, find out what the grand life is with a stay at this marvelous property. A week later and I'm still getting follow-up attention from Intercontinential Guest Relations......this was SERVICE EXTRAORDINAIRE! ”
