• The hotel was in close proximity to the event we were attending.
• There was no refrigerator or microwave in the room.

• Location was great for all intents/purposes of my trip.
• Hotel's restaurant food good be better price adjusted to its quality.

“Shula's Hotle was overall a great stay. As long as you don't need to stay near the port/airport it is relatively quiet. Nice little shopping area next door with excellent coffee and pastry joint. Food was a little pricey for what you got, however the staff were very polite, and the rooms were quite comfortable. Room could've used a small beverage fridge.”

• The style and convenience to "Main Street".
• The fact that all of my charges and taxes were added after I arrived.

“The hotel was fine. I just was not expecting to have so many additional taxes added to my bill and I expected the charges to appear on my credit card prior to arrival.”

• The Miami Lakes location was terrific - very upscale feeling and comfortable accommodations.
• Early morning leaf blowing and garbage service disrupted sleeping on the first floor of the hotel.

“Don Shula's was a nice overnight getaway and very convenient to the expressway and not hard to find. We arrived late, but the hotel was expecting us. Reservation staff on the phone was very helpful. It was not too far from the Miami airport and in a nice community with upscale shops.”

• I loved that shopping and dining were steps away. Nice quiet area.
• Security at night anyone could come in the side entrance.

“Nice location, friendly staff, very nice and soft hotel bed (that was my favorite thing about the room). The tube TV was big and nice but a plasma would have been much better. But overall I would stay again.”

• Too far, too expensive, too showy but room average.

“It was 30-60 minute drive (depending on traffic) from the conference. Very expensive and showy lobby. Grounds outside beautiful. Room clean but nothing special. Pool unheated so couldn't use. My need was for a discount hotel close to my conference. Nothing wrong with this hotel but it didn't meet my needs. I would have enjoyed having an exercise room or a warm pool for this price.”

• It was in perfect location! Restaurants & stores were in walking distance. Perfect!
• There was nothing!

“My boyfriend and I wanted to get away for the weekend and stayed at this hotel. The room was amazing. Very comfortable and the decor was fantastic! The staff was courteous and friendly. The hotel smelled like fresh lemon everyday and was spotlessly clean. The best part of our stay was the location. It's located on Main Street which has an array of stores, restaurants and cafes all within walking distance. We had a fabulous time and will definitely be staying again!”

• I liked the convenience / safety of location, and cleanliness.
• There were 3 noisy teens in lobby at night that did not belong there. Nobody asked them to leave or be quite.

“Aside from the noisy kids in the lobby, the hotel was well decorated, clean, and in an attractive location. Also the front desk staff was very helpful and courteous.”

• The front desk people were really nice!

“The front desk people were really nice! Then it went downhill from there. Construction was going on at the hotel, the TV didn't work, the shower drained slowly, the a/c motor inside the room sounded like a jet engine, the housekeeping staff quarreled outside our room both mornings, and talked so loudly I almost called the front desk to tell them to get them to shut up.”

• It was free to park and our car was near our room.
• Cats everywhere. We had 3 cats sleeping in our porch.

“The hotel was probably a nice one about 20 years ago. Right now is rundown, overrun with cats. We even saw a dead bat that one of the cats had killed. The pool did not seem clean enough to go swimming. The room was small, but our king-size bed was nice and the room appeared to be clean.”

“Hotel was great, but I made my reservation for the shoal hotel and they tried to send me to the shoal golf club. I had to go and print my itinerary to prove it to them, and then they would not give me a room with a balcony like I reserved.”

• Bathroom light lit up whole room--no separate light for bathroom. Only one chair for three people staying in room.

• Curved shower curtain bars kept the curtain away from your body while showering.
• Unsolicited 4:45AM wake up call and lame apology.

“Shula's hotel is clean and neat. The AC cools the room but does not reduce humidity, so you experience a cold sauna ambiance. Rooms are dark even with all lights on. I would choose a Courtyard by Marriot before returning to Shula's.”

• Horrible guest service, no working elevator..

“The hotel staff gave us wrong directions to the hotel putting us two hours out of our way. They did not apologize, gave us a room on the third floor in a building that had no working elevator. Our room had a broken bathroom door and we requested another room. The manager did not even come out. They gave us a room next to the old one (still no elevator)....poor service...employees smoking in front of guests, slow service, etc. Disappointing. They would not even print us a receipt or give us the address of the corporate office, faking ignorance.”

• The surrounding Main Street area was nice.
• Unhelpful staff, strong smoke odor throughout, paper-thin walls. Poor value overall.

“I am a travel writer, and have stayed at a broad range of places over the years. In terms of disappointment, this hotel would rank as one of the biggest letdowns. I've stayed at plenty of three-star hotels, and how this place has a three-star rating is beyond me. We could hear our neighbors and people in the corridors very clearly, and the odor of cigarette smoke permeated the place. The hotel staff, with the exception of the friendly housekeepers, was indifferent at best, borderline rude at worst. The "deal" I got on the room was no deal at all--would have been better off staying somewhere off the Turnpike.”

• The staff was very accommodating. We received an early check in and great service. Especially from Albert the bartender.
• Nothing at all. It was the best.

“Every member of staff we encountered was helpful and professional. I was skeptical of the hotel but the hotel exceeded my expectations. I would gladly stay there again. The quaint Main Street shops are great. It feels like a small town.”

• Breakfast buffet very nice but a little pricey, couldn't open doors to balcony.
