- Communication with the staff was a bit hard b/c of their accents.

- Staff just do not care about the guests.
“This was the worst experience that I ever had in an intercontinental hotel. I had much better experiences on a Crowne plaza and would not stay at this hotel if it was free of charge! My room had an issue with the AC and the bellman suggested that I moved my stuff by myself. There was a delay of 1 and 1/2 hours for a cheeseburger and no apologies. The hallways were frigid also. Very close to the airport but not convenient for anything else in downtown Miami or Miami beach!”

- Room was spacious and everyone seemed friendly. Bedding soft and comfortable.
- When I checked in, the person I spoke to was not friendly. Everyone else went out of their way to help with anything that I needed.
“The hotel was located right off of the dock and near a mall. It was also very close to downtown and several other things to do. The room was more spacious than I had expected with a great view of the bay and the port. Most of the staff was very friendly. The bedding was soft and comfortable and the shower was nice. Also, several channel options on the TV.”

- The room was spacious, very clean, and nicely decorated. Window "seating" was very cool.
- Because of the location, guests are forced to pay the totally outrageous valet fee.

- We loved this hotel. Nothing at all to dislike.
“The hotel was clean, luxurious with top of the line linens, bedding, and bath products. Marble throughout. A fortune in marble and granite in the bathrooms. Just beautiful and extremely large. Located near great shopping in walking distance. Staff was friendly and helpful with answering questions and providing information. A wonderful ocean and pool view. I would definitely recommend to all visitors. Romantic, family, and business. Accommodations for all travelers! Had a wonderful and comfortable stay.”

- The harbor view was fantastic. The location is good, concierge was helpful. I loved the star bucks inside of the hotel.
- The refrigerator automatically bills items to your account if you "remove" any item. And the sign which explain this is small.
“This hotel charges everything. Internet, luggage keeping, late check out, etc. The most incredible was the refrigerator system - it will charge you (bill to your account automatically) if you "remove" any item from the refrigerator and if I only want to take a look some item to see if I like it or not? Ah, a little bottled water cost USD 4.50 and you can't store anything at refrigerator as aforementioned. But even though I liked the hotel, just don't even touch the refrigerator and you will enjoy your stay!”

- Nice design. Rooftop pool with ocean view.
- Room was not vacuumed both days. Mold in shower. Parking price, internet access and gym fees.
“The owners put a lot of money into the posh look, but it's maintained very poorly. It's like they run out of money to keep it attractive. There were balls of hair and other debris on the carpet. I did not bother to complain the 1st day hoping it would be taken care on the second day, it did not. There was useless tub with no curtain, separate tiny shower all out of marble (useless waste) with mold. Nice view of downtown and ocean. Decent staff but you have to tip them all, count on $20 a day at least in tips. Parking is $34 a day, no other option. Internet is not free, neither is gym. I'll much rather stay in a 4-star where it's all included and the hotels are not out of marble but as attractive as this one. We would never consider it again.”

- The overall impression just made you awe struck.
- The bathroom looked as though there was mold on the ceiling that they tried to cover up.
“The Intercontinental Miami is highly recommended by me for anyone staying before or after a cruise. We were able to get right into our room. I had called and asked for a non-smoking room before our arrival and it was not a problem. Since I was traveling with my sister we were able to get a room with two double beds, no problem. The pool was beautiful and they have mini-golf and a jogging/walking track. There is a great lighted path the Bayside and I never felt unsafe even though we were two females. Cab fare to the pier was less than $10.00 so no need for a transfer from the cruise company.”

“The Best of worlds and the worst, also. I was put in a smoking room and the staff lied, my opinion, as to there not knowing it was a smoking room. Staff sought to make me guilty for the problem. Transferred, second day to a clean, non-smoking room. Previous room dirty and smoking. Left a valuable radio. Security has it and has promised to mail it promptly, that a pleasant surprise.”

“Since we arrived late into Miami, we needed a cheap hotel near the airport so that we could transfer to our South Beach hotel the next day. - The Staff was phenomenally well trained and way beyond my expectations.
- The rooms are a bit aged but, still comfortable and clean.

- After being in a rural area of Bolivia, it was just a nice treat to have hot shower, a good bed, and a running toilet.
- My ratings would have been all on the higher end, except that I was misinformed by the agent when I called in.

After making the reservation, I called the hotel directly to get information about the Hotel Shuttle (We were only staying over 1 night so we wanted something close to the airport (12 minutes). I was told where to go to meet the shuttle and that it came through the airport every 20 minutes. Wrong! We waited over 50 minutes. All the other hotels/motels came through at least 3 times during that period. When we finally got there after 3 calls to the hotel, the check in person informed me that pick ups were on the hour! When we left the next day we got to the airport and the driver could not get our luggage out for 5 minutes because the luggage door was jammed! I don't know if this was bad luck or just there level of service. The room was fine; the hotel just left me with initial and ending bad taste in my mouth.”

- This was a grand hotel with upscale accommodations.
- Housekeeping - late in cleaning the room and not thorough.
“A truly inviting hotel that could keep you in your room on a sunny day. Unfortunately, the bad experience I had with housekeeping keeps me from giving this hotel the high marks it has worked for. Deservingly, this is a 4-Star hotel. I don't want the one bad experience to pull that down, but its staff is an integral part to the overall quality and function of the hotel, so management must pay attention to this.”

- Housekeeping service was excellent.
- The restaurant was solo not worth the price of the food.
“The hotel does not compare to other 4-star hotels where we have stayed. The room was nice but smelled of cig. Smoke even though a non-smoking room.”

- A facility to take care of all business needs and rightly represent the class of the customers that come to stay in.
- Carries a Hispanic vernacular and it shows. Though not intended but very homely for Hispanics such that other nationalities find themselves alien.
“It is an excellent property, situated on an expensive real estate, but it can not avoid the homeless, illegal migrants frittering around. Not recommended to walk around, and cant afford a flat tire in the vicinity in the nights.”

- 24 hour room service
- Shuttle works once an hour. Not convenient to airport.
“The bed was lumpy and sagging. I also put the wrong room number on my breakfast card, but did put my Name, but did not get the breakfast on time. I called and they told me I put the wrong number and it would be there shortly. Barely got a chance at eating part of it before I had to leave. Room number was transposed, but the correct number should have been found by the last Name on the card. No phone to call for shuttle pick-up thought it claims it has. I called the hotel directly and they didn't communicate with me the shuttle left every hour. I finally took a cab.”

- A great location with a view of the port of Miami, and a short walk to the bayside market.
- The windows can not be opened and there was no ventilation fan.
“The intercontinental is a beautiful hotel with an excellent location near the port of Miami and walking distance to the bayside market. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone cruising out of Miami or just looking for a luxury hotel in the Miami area.”
