“Very nice and in a great location. The beach is right there and the staff is pretty friendly and diverse.” Jun 29, 2008 by
Paul from Huntersville, NC
“Everything about this hotel was first rate. A bit pricey for extras. Ten dollars for a drink at bar seems high even for a resort.” Jun 16, 2008 by
Allison Y. from Evans, GA
“I enjoyed our stay. It is so relaxing out by the pool with live entertainment. You don't have to get out of your chair if you don't want to. The staff at Turtles will get everything that you need. I will be back!” Jun 7, 2008 by
Sarah from Atlanta, GA
“The hotel itself was nice, especially the grounds and the pool area. They have daily activities for children and lots of sun chairs with shade or sunny spots on the deck. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating and the food was good. Their breakfast buffet offers many choices and seems reasonable for a late morning brunch. My real complaint is about the rooms. While the public areas seemed spotless, the rooms looked worn out and dirty. The "spa robe" that was provided in our room was thread bear and there was actually a 3cm hole under one of the arms. Not so classy. There were stains on the carpet and there was a dead roach on the floor in our bathroom when we checked in. On our second day in the hotel, after our room was cleaned, I noticed the bug and pointed it out to my husband. He informed me that he had seen it the day before, but did not pick it up. Makes you wonder how well their staff is cleaning the rooms. As an aside, I don't know why a mini-bar with $5 bottles of aquafina is offensive, but it is to me. I guess it seems that room-rate should include a bottle of water after you pay to stay at a high-end resort (and you pay the $14 a day "resort fee"). The only fridge in the room is a fully stocked mini-bar. If you move any of the items around in it in order to fit your own things (like milk for a baby) you will get charged for the over-priced mini-bar items. Honestly, I would expect "resort" style room to automatically be fitted with a refrigerator that you can use instead of making you call the front desk and beg for one. 2 months ago I stayed at another resort in Hilton Head (the Hilton at Palmetto Dunes) and unfortunately, this location was no were near as nice as the Hilton.” Jun 5, 2008 by
Robby from Augusta, GA
“Would recommend to others for location and comfort.” Jun 5, 2008 by
Troy from Covington, GA
“Great HHI location. Quaint setting, lots of pool space both sunny and shady. Room was nice and very clean.” Jun 4, 2008 by
Shelley from Massillon, OH
“We were happy with our stay, we had an extra $15.00 resort fee that we were not aware of. If we were going to have a long stay this could have really added up.” Jun 4, 2008 by
Eric from Alpharetta, GA
“The property was very nice and centrally located on the island. We would stay there again.” Jun 4, 2008 by
Rob from Woodstock, GA
“The hotel was no where near the quality of other hotels we have stayed at in Hilton Head. The Westin needs an upgrade. The hotel also tried to charge us a $14/day resort fee on top of our room rate. They said it was for using the hotel's staff, having coffee in our room, etc. We fought it and got it taken off but there is no way they should charge those types of fees. I have recommended the place to all of my friends and family.” Jun 4, 2008 by
Sharyn from Miami, FL
“Pretty hotel with great location on the beach. Nice pool area and many luxuries expected from a resort. All employees that I came into contact with were very friendly. Lots of children and families!” Jun 4, 2008 by
Zeke from Simpsonville, SC
“All in all this place was pretty nice. It's in need of updating as the carpet in the halls is very out of date and shows a lot of wear. The rooms were alright. Nothing fancy but not lacking anything (except a safe). Several pools, close to the beach and beautiful from the outside.” May 23, 2008 by
Stacy from Lyons, GA
“We really enjoyed our stay at the Westin. It was in a great location and overlooked the ocean. Our room view wasn't the greatest but that is because we checked in a little late. The kids loved the pools and we loved the poolside drinks and food. The staff was nice and helpful. There was only one night that the people below us were a little loud, but other than that it was a very nice vacation!” Apr 15, 2008 by
Karl from Charlotte, NC
“You can rent bikes at the health club. You can walk about a mile North to the end of the island to catch the sunrise. The courtyard is pleasant to look at. The room is a nice size with a nice balcony. The balcony would have been perfect if it had better furniture. The refrigerator was only for the $5 waters and drinks. No microwave. Both of these were disappointments for a resort. One thing bothered me and other people when we were checking out. There was no prior notice of a $14 + $1.20 tax daily Resort Fee. I only had one night but the principle of it bothered me. For the other folks, it added up to a nice amount and each person was unaware of this charge until they checked out. I asked what this fee was for and was told that it was for the pool and health club. I thought that these things were part of the room charges. I felt this fee should have been included in the room charge. I would recommend staying here.” Apr 5, 2008 by
Jean from San Clemente
“This could be a great hotel. It has a fantastic location on the beach, a nice pool and lots of activities for kids. Unfortunately, the quality of the rooms leaves a lot to be desired. Our room was fairly spacious but the carpet was spotted and stained, walls were dirty and scratched up (we even had a piece of gum stuck to the wall next to one of the beds.) The bathrooms are aging and we had mildew in our shower but even worse, and impossible to fix, is that the walls of the rooms are paper thin. We could hear every word that our neighbors said and everything that was said by passersby in the hallways. We asked to be moved but were told the hotel was sold out. After we inquired about canceling our remaining stay, a larger room opened up (at a premium of course).” Jan 19, 2008 by
Gene from Roslyn Heights, NY
“We were familiar with this hotel when we visited Hilton Head Island a few years ago but never stayed there overnight. We were looking for the opportunity to stay there but could not afford it.” Nov 4, 2007 by
Pam from Edwardsville, IL
“Overall this was a nice place to stay. I was very disappointed that a shuttle was not available to get to other parts of the island. To go out to dinner, It cost $48 for cab fare alone. The beach was nice. I don't play golf so I don't know about the course.” Oct 11, 2007 by
Jim from Fairfax, VA
“Overall, a nice hotel but further out from the main drag of Hilton head than I expected. Too few outdoor parking spaces, especially when hosting an event (i.e. wedding). Elevators need remodeling as they have an old and tired look/feel. Some rooms quite a distance from the lobby. Lobby area nice and a daily 5-7 p.m. Happy hour with good drink prices and indoor putting surface a good touch. Save for the elevators a well maintained property.” Sep 24, 2007 by
Al from Macon, GA
“Good location - needs upgrades to rooms and plumbing.” Sep 17, 2007 by
Mark from Carlisle, PA
“This hotel is ideally situated for those looking for a leisurely stay. The grounds and surrounding areas are very attractive. The hotel was very well maintained and the staff was very friendly. The rooms were clean but they are starting to show their age.” Aug 26, 2007 by
Tara from Marietta, GA
“Everything about this hotel was fabulous. The bell hop gave our son a gift for his birthday, the hotel sent 4 cupcakes on a plate that said happy birthday, and the concierge recommended a nice place to eat and gave coupons for miniature golf. The music at the pool in the afternoon was great.” Aug 4, 2007 by
Cindy from Aiken, SC
“Clean soft sheets and blankets and pillows. The bed felt so nice. Also, there was under hotel parking with an elevator for easy access to our hotel room and very easy access to the beach. Pool area was spread out and very private.” Jul 28, 2007 by
Hector from Orange Park, FL
“Great resort - will go back. Kids were too noisy between 11pm-4am throughout the floor, Service at Carolina cafe-casual restaurant was average. I would expect better service from a place that charges $9 for drinks and $25-40 for entries. Eat outside hotel if you can. Go when kids are in school, not on vacation.” Jul 25, 2007 by
Kelly from Columbia, SC
“Overall this hotel was very nice. Condition of some items in the room - like the frayed carpeting and shower condition. The hotel grounds and facilities were very well maintained. The hotel restaurant we ate at, Turtles was great.” Jul 21, 2007 by
R.J. from Cleveland, GA
“The room could have been a little nicer. I stayed here 2 years ago and the room was great. This time it was average. Overall , the total experience was above average.” Jul 12, 2007 by
Lisa from Bristol, VA
“This resort was amazing. Everything from the staff, the beauty, location, and the restaurants was excellent! The entire family picked this resort as an all time favorite.” Jul 11, 2007 by
Mark from Lithonia, GA
“It is very family and kids oriented. I loved the heavenly feel that the rooms had. I have stayed here 5 times and would go back again and again.” Jul 10, 2007 by
Robert from Mattthews, NC
“The hotel had a nice location and many amenities (however it was impossible to find a chair at any of the four pools or sundecks. The rooms were small but sufficient, clean but aging.” Jul 9, 2007 by
Ron from Mount Sterling, KY
“We found the Westin a very nice hotel from the rooms to the pool area to the beach. For the most part the staff was very friendly and helpful. The day we checked in the room wasn't ready so when we came back the front desk manager gave us complimentary dinner for all four of us at the Carolina Cafe. That was a very nice touch.” Jul 8, 2007 by
David from Canton, GA
“Overall a decent property, the rooms appear to need updating. The hallways were always really warm like the A/C wasn't working. Great location, nice pool area, nice gym and bike rental on site. Would recommend it to friends and families but as I mentioned the rooms were on the small side and need updating.” Jul 8, 2007 by
Patrick from Colorado Springs, CO
“I would not recommend this resort. We were treated poorly when we had issues with the safety of the room. The fire sprinkler was wrapped in tape and could not have functioned in a fire. The security bar for the patio door was completely broken. We then tried to contact the front desk and the phone was not working. The tub was filthy and the linens were torn. We lost a day of our vacation trying to get another room at the resort and seemed to get the run around from the hotel staff.” Jul 8, 2007 by
Michelle from Linden, MI
“Great resort with beautiful grounds. Always found the staff to be helpful and friendly. Choice of restaurants on premises and 3 pools. Directly on beautiful stretch of beach. Loved it!” Jul 8, 2007 by
Valerie from Lawrenceville, GA
“Clearly this is an older hotel that has been redone recently, although not very well. You can see the old wallpaper as the new peals at the corners. The air conditioner vents "banged" from the pressure of the air every time it came on, making it impossible to sleep. Maid service was friendly, as was all the staff, but inconsistent. We had reserved 2 rooms and when we arrived, neither television worked and the air conditioner in one room only blew warm air. Upon reporting this problem, some arrived immediately to fix the air conditioner and we were told every day that someone would be in to fix the televisions, but they were still not working when we checked out.” Jul 6, 2007 by
Tim from Huntersville, NC
“A very nice hotel on a great part of the island with just the right amount of luxury to price ratio. The only thing I would change is to escape the daily the resort fee.” Jul 2, 2007 by
Mary from Keokuk, IA
“Incredible resort at an incredible price! I never though we could afford to stay right on the beach, let alone in such a nice resort.” Jun 23, 2007 by
Judd from Sandy Springs, GA
“Wonderful.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jun 22, 2007 by

“Overall, this is a great hotel. It was very luxurious and high end, however it was family friendly. They had wonderful "extras", such as toys for the kids, Starbucks coffee in the rooms, and tons of special activities for adults and children. The staff was super friendly and helpful.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jun 16, 2007 by
Dave from Taylors, SC
“We were pleased with the Westin Resort. There were small issues but overall we had had a very nice time. The staff at the Westin were the most friendly and courteous people that I have encountered. The bed's are like sleeping on clouds. This Resort was very clean, rooms, lobby, and hallways. Very convenient to the beach, the beach was very safe with multiple life guards. We would recommend this resort to our friends.” Jun 4, 2007 by
Steve from Nashville, TN
“Nice 4 star hotel on the beach; very clean and the staff are very friendly.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.May 29, 2007 by
Mark from Carlisle, PA
“The hotel was ideally located on the beach and within it's own private resort setting. You could not ask for a nicer setting. The staff was extremely friendly and the hotel was clean. The only negatives that I found included; aging rooms with worn/dirty carpets, bathroom needs updating, air conditioner was a little noisy. Other than those things, I would highly recommend this hotel.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.May 25, 2007 by
Kimberly from Hickory, NC
“The hotel was nice. However, it did not have a fridge, microwave and anything you wanted extra cost!” May 18, 2007 by
Camo from Rochester, NY
“Our stay was all in all a very pleasant experience. The layout and overall impression of the hotel were good. The room needed some TLC and upgrade, but the hotel seems to be working on this (and that surprisingly quiet). The hotel staff is very friendly. The maids, however, only seem to do the bare minimum; dirty bathroom floor, not well made beds, no daily new shampoo bottles were the result.” May 11, 2007 by
Amanda from Norcross, GA
“I really enjoyed the hotel-the rooms and lobby are gorgeous and spacious and have updated decor. The pool area and beach are very nice. My only complaint is that everything from food and drinks on the resort to the chair rentals and in room movies were very expensive.” May 5, 2007 by
Torrey from Tarrytown, NY
“The Westin is a comfortable hotel with nice amenities. We particularly enjoyed the weight room, pool and access to the beach. We enjoyed the hotel and would recommend it to others. But it did not entirely meet our expectations of a four star resort hotel. The room and at least our wing of the hotel could have used a face-lift. The carpets were stained and the furniture looked worn. Our tub drain emptied very slowly and we had problems with our toilet that were never repaired even after three or four calls to the desk. Still, the room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel staff was courteous and helpful. The hotel grounds were beautiful and well kept. Overall, we found the Westin a relaxing and enjoyable place for a week of rest and relaxation.” May 5, 2007 by
John from North Ridgeville, OH
“I argued with hotel staff about the hidden resort fee of $13 per day. Since it is mandatory, should it not just be built into the room rate?” May 2, 2007 by
Susan from Acworth, GA
“It was a beautiful hotel and a wonderful experience. Staff was very polite. Great breakfast buffet.” Apr 29, 2007 by
Wendy from Hendersonville, NC
“The hotel was beautiful but lacked the friendliness of a smaller hotel. It was difficult for our son who is in a wheelchair to get around, only one ramp to the pools and beach. Also because the hotel is so big, it was a long track from downstairs to our room. The grounds were beautiful too.” Apr 23, 2007 by
Chris from Mineapolis, MN
“The resort is very nice but the bell hop workers are quite annoying and constantly have their hand out for a tip. I finally started ducking out the side door to avoid them. The prices are extremely high but worth the good service. ” Apr 12, 2007 by
Greg from Alexandria, VA
“Recommend you highlight the "Resort Fee" that has to be paid at checkout. If a "Resort Fee" will be charged it should be included in all your pricing so that there are no surprises.” Apr 9, 2007 by
Greg from Royston, GA
“A great Hotel/Resort. The only problem was we Parked on one end and had to track to the other end. Overall, as they state it was Heavenly.” Apr 9, 2007 by
Angela from Huntersville, NC
