“Friendly, accommodating staff, nice relaxing spa, good food at restaurants. Rooms need some updating.” Sep 7, 2008 by
Tracy from Alpharetta, GA
“Overall this hotel was ok and mainly because it is very worn. The hallways and common areas were the worst, with carpets in really bad condition, walls needing to be re-painted, and lighting needing to be updated. The rooms were not as bad, although they could use a facelift as well. The hotel was beginning renovations while we were there, which were loud at times and could prove to be a negative for guests in the near future.” Sep 7, 2008 by
William S. from Reidsville, GA
“The property as a whole was nice, but the bar and restaurants were over priced.” Sep 4, 2008 by
Mike from Salida, CO
“I did not like that I had to pay a service fee for towels and internet. I used neither and was only a hotel 8 hours! Otherwise, great hotel. Room was great. Service was great. Had a balcony right off the pool.” Sep 4, 2008 by
Cg from Statesboro, GA
“We were quite disappointed with our stay at the Westin. The pool area was filthy with trash from the night before, and there was crud floating in the corners of the pool. Also, the gardener was blowing leaves and debris around as people were arriving at the pool for the day.” Sep 4, 2008 by
Katie from Charlotte, NC
“I must say, I was disappointed! At first, I thought we landed the top resort on the Island. But we were disappointed. Rooms/hotel is old. It is in need of much repair - paint, new carpet, furniture, etc. It was dark & depressing. The refrigerators had to be brought to your room, and they were from the 1950's! I would never go back to this hotel.” Sep 4, 2008 by
Indira from Charlotte, NC
“I witnessed 2 kids (vomit) in the pool, I told two staff members and even called the next day inquiring if it was taken care of, they claimed that the chlorine and PH levels were fine and no need to have the pool service. We did not use the pool the rest of the stay. Can you say strep and other diseases floating around. Not a thrilling menu at the restaurant but ok enough to avoid leaving the resort.” Sep 4, 2008 by
Marin from San Diego, CA
“The hotel itself is very nice, staffed with friendly and helpful people. It is very clean, spacious, has a nice gym and pool, and is in a good location, close to everywhere we were going. I was expecting to be able to see the beach but couldn't. The hallways are very long and there seems to be few elevators, at one end or the other, which is what makes the hallways so long. Pool area is nice and very family-friendly.” Sep 4, 2008 by
Kelly from Alpharetta, GA
“My family loves this Westin! We have come the last several years over Labor Day weekend as our last beach trip of the summer. Rooms are very clean and comfortable, nice pools to play in and affordable beach chairs and umbrellas to rent on the beach. We never have to leave the property. We eat lunch outside at the poolside cafe and eat dinner at their indoor/nicer seafood buffet. They have activities for the kids, provide beach towels, internet access, etc. Everything you would expect from a family friendly beach resort!” Sep 3, 2008 by
Alan from Marietta, GA
“A great property to relax and enjoy Hilton Head.” Sep 2, 2008 by
Stephanie from Conyers, GA
“Right on the beach with great views. The room, beds, bathroom, and closets have plenty of room. Nice decor too.” Aug 29, 2008 by
Mom2lo from Simpsonville, SC
“The bellmen were rude (counted tips in front of us), we were charged for items removed from the minibar while we were waiting for them to bring us the mini-fridge we had requested for our 1-year-old's milk and food (they did remove the charges when we complained). My biggest complaints are that the shower didn't drain, the quality of the room was not resort-level, and the worst part was the $14 resort fee which they claimed covered things like complimentary self-parking. So basically we're paying $14 for the ability to park our own car, even though they refer to it as complimentary. What a joke! We will definitely not be returning to this hotel, and most likely will not stay at any other Westin.” Aug 28, 2008 by
Cameron from Atlanta, GA
“Fantastic. Highly recommend.” Aug 25, 2008 by
Steven T. from Warner Robins, GA
“Overall the hotel was clean. Although we were unable to get a ocean view room, we did have a view of the lovely landscaping/pool/fountains in the center of the hotel. I think the best part about the hotel is the staff. They were all very friendly and courteous.” Aug 25, 2008 by
Taylor from Rockville, MD
“This hotel met our every need and expectation. The beach is just steps away, the rooms are comfortable, the spa was fantastic, there are several pools, and the dining was fine.” Aug 24, 2008 by
Veronda from Phoenix, AZ
“My husband and I found the resort to be very pleasant and very private. Everything was stylish and well-kept. The only thing I'd see as old-looking was the brass chandelier. The lobby is scheduled for a renovation this winter, but I don't even think it's really necessary. When we arrived, the front desk guy was very polite and invited us to partake in the putting competition in the lobby. He gave us all the information we needed, including the resort fee I've seen many complaints about. We found that our room was a hike from the elevator, as I've seen commented, but we also were happy to be away from the noise and hustle of the elevator area. We were also between the two different elevators that go to the lobby/parking and the one that goes to the beach, so at least we weren't close to one an.” Aug 23, 2008 by
Doug from Toledo, OH
“The Westin at Hilton Head has a beautiful lobby, excellent indoor and outdoor pools, two fantastic restaurants and direct access to the ocean. It made for a great vacation! The only disappointment was the room itself. It wasn't unclean or run-down or anything- it was simply blah. It didn't match the first impressions you got in the other parts of the resort at all. The decor in the room looked to be at least 10-15 years old. Overall, I would stay there again, as their facilities are top notch. Hopefully they get some money together to renovate their rooms. Do beware of unexpected expenses if you're on a budget- $14/day resort fee, you're expected to tip nearly any staff you say three words to and their parking lot is quite a walk from the entrance, so valet parking is recommended ($15/day). The location is also near most of the great restaurants and shopping in the area.” Aug 22, 2008 by
Jerry from Savannah, GA
“Several problems with the room, the balcony over looked a lovely dumper full of garbage, light fixture over bathroom sink looked like it was ready to fall, phone jack was not in the wall and was hanging by its wires. At check out our bill was slapped with a daily $14.00 resort fee (plus tax) which was a big surprise. Why not inform the guest of that at check-in?” Aug 22, 2008 by
David from Jacksonville, FL
“Excellent hotel - location and amenities were exceptional. It was a great value.” Aug 21, 2008 by
John from Swuanee, GA
“Nice, clean room on great property.” Aug 20, 2008 by
Dawn from Mcleansville, NC
“The Westin is a top notch resort. We have stayed at it the last 2 times we went to Hilton Head. They have great activities for children. We highly recommend for anyone.” Aug 20, 2008 by
Alisa from Simpsonville, SC
“The hotel was nice for a family stay. However, paint and carpet and redo the pool area and it would make it a lot nicer. You can tell it was a nice place to stay several years back, but they have not done any up keep on it.” Aug 19, 2008 by
Rosanne from Wooster, OH
“Overall this was a great experience. Friendly and very helpful staff. In fact the staff assisted us with attaching a travel hitch to our vehicle. We did not even ask, they just volunteered. It was an overall good experience for the grownup as well as the children. I would recommend this hotel.” Aug 19, 2008 by
Dale from Marietta, GA
“Really enjoyed it.” Aug 18, 2008 by
Yi-Lin from Holly Springs, NC
“The hotel is wonderful with a great location on Hilton Head beach. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. As always the heavenly beds were heavenly. This is a great resort, I would recommend it to everyone.” Aug 17, 2008 by
Phil from Simpsonville, SC
“The air conditioning that didn't work properly made for a very bad experience. It was set to 70 degrees and ran without stopping. Also, they have mini-bars in the room that charge you if you pick up a drink or snack.” Aug 8, 2008 by
Heather from Fletcher, NC
“The hotel was very family friendly; this is great if you have kids but not so great if you are traveling with your spouse or loved one. Staff was exceptional and hotel was very attractive inside and out. A downside to such a large hotel, however, is the fact that you almost needed a GPS to navigate your way around and it was a good walk to the closest spot of clear sand on the beach.” Aug 7, 2008 by
Debora from North Augusta, SC
“For the price we were very pleased. The room was clean. The elevator needed improvement. Staff was very friendly. The pool area was large with lots of chairs. They allowed us to stay after we checked out on Sunday to use the facilities and had a very nice restroom with showers, towels, hair dryers, etc in the workout room.” Aug 6, 2008 by
Susan from Awendaw, SC
“Location served me well. As a solo traveler unfortunately it is tourist season and there were too many families.” Aug 5, 2008 by
Vivian from Fayetteville, GA
“Fine quality - Lived up to the Westin name.” Aug 4, 2008 by
Gregory from Warner Robins, GA
“Outstanding with the exception of food value - i.e. price vs. quality vs. menu options for those who do not expect/require 4-star dining at every meal.” Jul 28, 2008 by
Maria from Martinez, GA
“The hotel itself was nice, but dated, they need to remodel.” Jul 27, 2008 by
Rebecca from Roanoke, VA
“The staff was very accommodating in changing our room from a king to two doubles since we had our two teenage children with us. The facilities were wonderful. Ocean front, pool, restaurants on site. Pricey restaurants though! I would definitely return for an extended stay.” Jul 27, 2008 by
Al from Winfield, IL
“On the beach and 2 large pools make this a great place to be. Rooms are weathered a tad which can be expected at a resort. Would stay again.” Jul 23, 2008 by
Mike from Dallas, TX
“The hotel had our room when we walked in the door, an Island view with two double beds, located right next to four rooms which were undergoing renovation. The noise from the renovations was deafening, so we requested a room change, which they did honor. The hotel should never have put us (or anyone) in a room next to a room in which loud renovations are going on. The room they moved us to was away from the renovations; the renovations are needed, because the room was worn and the fixtures need to be replaced. However, the hotel grounds, pool and beach area are beautiful.” Jul 20, 2008 by
Todd from Charlotte, NC
“Tremendous stay. Very relaxing environment, first class facilities and wonderful location on the beach. Everything was topnotch. Highly recommend.” Jul 11, 2008 by
Ed from Radford, VA
“Great location, comfortable rooms, incredibly comfortable bed, room was of good size and tasteful, lobby area was spacious and well kept, staff was extraordinarily friendly, the pools were of good size and well kept, landscaping added to the warm feel of the place, the ocean was just a few steps over the dunes, the beach was uncrowned and beautiful, parking was close and convenient, takes a touch of effort to reach other places on the island, but no less convenient than any other resort, evenings would have benefited by a bit more effort to provide even a touch of entertainment live or otherwise. Overall a great experience that I believe most anyone would enjoy. Beach lovers who enjoy the benefits of exclusive access to a beach area will particularly enjoy this resort.” Jul 10, 2008 by
Cindy from Norcross, GA
“Wonderful resort is an understatement. The best in Hilton Head I would have to say.” Jul 8, 2008 by
Candy from Thomson, GA
“Very nice resort, great location, beautiful landscape, very convenient to the ocean and pools.” Jul 7, 2008 by
David from Aiken, SC
“Staff was great. Room was great.” Jul 3, 2008 by
Broderick from Columbia, SC
“Very nice and in a great location. The beach is right there and the staff is pretty friendly and diverse.” Jun 29, 2008 by
Paul from Huntersville, NC
“Everything about this hotel was first rate. A bit pricey for extras. Ten dollars for a drink at bar seems high even for a resort.” Jun 16, 2008 by
Allison Y. from Evans, GA
“I enjoyed our stay. It is so relaxing out by the pool with live entertainment. You don't have to get out of your chair if you don't want to. The staff at Turtles will get everything that you need. I will be back!” Jun 7, 2008 by
Sarah from Atlanta, GA
“The hotel itself was nice, especially the grounds and the pool area. They have daily activities for children and lots of sun chairs with shade or sunny spots on the deck. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating and the food was good. Their breakfast buffet offers many choices and seems reasonable for a late morning brunch. My real complaint is about the rooms. While the public areas seemed spotless, the rooms looked worn out and dirty. The "spa robe" that was provided in our room was thread bear and there was actually a 3cm hole under one of the arms. Not so classy. There were stains on the carpet and there was a dead roach on the floor in our bathroom when we checked in. On our second day in the hotel, after our room was cleaned, I noticed the bug and pointed it out to my husband. He informed me that he had seen it the day before, but did not pick it up. Makes you wonder how well their staff is cleaning the rooms. As an aside, I don't know why a mini-bar with $5 bottles of aquafina is offensive, but it is to me. I guess it seems that room-rate should include a bottle of water after you pay to stay at a high-end resort (and you pay the $14 a day "resort fee"). The only fridge in the room is a fully stocked mini-bar. If you move any of the items around in it in order to fit your own things (like milk for a baby) you will get charged for the over-priced mini-bar items. Honestly, I would expect "resort" style room to automatically be fitted with a refrigerator that you can use instead of making you call the front desk and beg for one. 2 months ago I stayed at another resort in Hilton Head (the Hilton at Palmetto Dunes) and unfortunately, this location was no were near as nice as the Hilton.” Jun 5, 2008 by
Robby from Augusta, GA
“Would recommend to others for location and comfort.” Jun 5, 2008 by
Troy from Covington, GA
“Great HHI location. Quaint setting, lots of pool space both sunny and shady. Room was nice and very clean.” Jun 4, 2008 by
Shelley from Massillon, OH
“We were happy with our stay, we had an extra $15.00 resort fee that we were not aware of. If we were going to have a long stay this could have really added up.” Jun 4, 2008 by
Eric from Alpharetta, GA
“The property was very nice and centrally located on the island. We would stay there again.” Jun 4, 2008 by
Rob from Woodstock, GA
“The hotel was no where near the quality of other hotels we have stayed at in Hilton Head. The Westin needs an upgrade. The hotel also tried to charge us a $14/day resort fee on top of our room rate. They said it was for using the hotel's staff, having coffee in our room, etc. We fought it and got it taken off but there is no way they should charge those types of fees. I have recommended the place to all of my friends and family.” Jun 4, 2008 by
Sharyn from Miami, FL
“Pretty hotel with great location on the beach. Nice pool area and many luxuries expected from a resort. All employees that I came into contact with were very friendly. Lots of children and families!”
