• Beach location and outside landscaping.
• Did not apply money spent on hotel room to hilton honors act.

“Off season visit to resort. Half of the hotel was open and not many people present. Rooms were clean and overall stay was pleasant. Did charge $8 per day parking in open lot and wireless not functional in rooms only in central lobby which is poor for an upscale hotel such as a Hilton.”

• The atmosphere was excellent. A great experience.
• No indoor pool.

“This hotel suited our needs very well. It has a refrigerator and microwave. It also has a table for 4 people to sit. It was very quiet and in a great area. We would definitely stay there again. We were a little disappointed that there was no indoor pool but the outdoor pool was supposedly heated, but it seemed a little chilly. There was a boardwalk that you could walk around the facility and a lagoon that was right outside our room. The complex was set up more like a condo, which was very neat. I liked it better than a high-rise hotel. It made us feel right at home.”

“Staying at this hotel is almost like staying at a gold crown timeshare. Room with two double beds had a well equipped kitchenette. Hotel is well located in a private plantation on the beach. Greatly exceeded our expectations.”

• The suite, fridge, microwave etc.
• Noisy! Doors slamming from other rooms, thin walls. Could hear everything from outside rooms.

“The grounds were nice, location GREAT right on beach. It was nice to have the suite with frig and microwave. The stay would have been nice if it was not so noisy! Every time a door would close from another room it would slam!”

• Nice room spacious and clean - great pool area.
• Poor elevator service was a pain.

“We enjoyed the service and cleanliness of this hotel for our families vacation. Great pool and grounds plus beach access. Rooms were large and well appointed. Views from every room in the hotel to the ocean were great. Beds were soft and comfortable for a long rest. The only complaint from this well seasoned traveler was the elevator service, there were 3 elevators and only one worked for 5 floors making it a hassle to use.”

“Hotel is very nice, clean and rooms are spacious. very good location right on the beach. Did not like staff attitude, they seemed snobbish and did not listen to the wishes of the guests. Had bad experience with the cleaning staff, article of jeweler went missing right after room cleaning was done. Hotel has done nothing about it.”

• The rooms are extremely spacious and clean.
• The elevators on the north building were unbelievably slow and not well ventilated.

“This hotel is great for families or couples. They have two pools, one being for adults only. The rooms are very spacious and easy to relax in. no noise except the wonderful breeze off the Atlantic Ocean. Breakfast buffet is pricey at $18 and there is an $8/day parking fee not included in the room price. $12/day if you valet. Staff was very nice, friendly and accommodating. It is located in the Palmetto Dunes area of Hilton Head on the Ocean side of the island. Great golf courses all around.”

• Low-key resort with great beach access, family-friendly, helpful staff, well maintained.
• Ocean-front room may not be what it sounds like; pool bar closes at 5, rent bikes elsewhere.

“We had an oceanfront suite - which was first floor - so you could not see the ocean unless standing on the balcony, and it was on the corner, so part of the balcony looked out over the parking lot. Otherwise, the resort is very low-key - relaxing. We had a nice room (tiny bathroom, though) that was very accessible to the adult pool and beach. Staff was friendly and helpful. Although their teen program was not really a program at all, they did offer to drive my son to the skate park (we ended up taking him ourselves).”

“Overall, a good value for the location. However, housekeeping knocked on the door every morning by 8:15 AM. This is not a motel by the interstate; it is a resort by the beach. Most people are still preparing for the day at 8:00 AM.”

“Overall, this was a good stay. The elevators were always dirty and smelled awful every day. The pool and hot tub were showing signs of mold. The hotel had a great location and not that busy. If you looked far down the beach to the left or right, it was far more packed than the Hilton.”

“The is the best location and environment for a family on holiday for peace and quiet for relaxation and to enjoy the family without overcrowding. We have stayed at the Marriot, Westin and we always love to return to the Hilton without a doubt, simply the best!”

• The courtyards were outstanding.
• It was difficult to sleep because the hotel room doors kept slamming shut.

“The hotel is well kept and the staff was friendly. The only complaints we had were that they needed to install something on their hotel room doors to quiet down the slamming noises that can be heard all night from guest going in and out of their rooms. Also, the restaurant (esp. the casual cafe located by the pool) prices were extremely high for both food and beverage as compared to the surrounding restaurants.”

• Property seems a bit "tired" and rustic for a resort.

“From a brief visit to survey the property last fall, it seemed a bit worn and too rustic for an upscale resort in Hilton Head. And while I still believe some updating could enhance the exterior, they had already made some upgrades. I was pleasantly surprised upon my return. The property has a terrific laid back, easily accessible atmosphere with nice rooms, a fabulous new fine restaurant (hh prime) and an adult pool which greatly enhanced our stay.”

• This hotel is very close and offers convenient access to the beach.
• The hallways are not air conditioned and the rooms are very musty smelling.

“This hotel is only steps away from the beach and is very family friendly. It offers very nice grounds and 2 pools. My only complaint is that they charge you for parking and the hallways are not air conditioned. The rooms are very musty smelling and the air conditioning in the room did not work that well. They also said they did not allow pets, but I saw many pets there.”

“We came during the off-season (what a steal!) for our honeymoon, and enjoyed the stay tremendously. We had excellent accommodations, and even though there was some construction happening at the hotel, it never bothered us at all. Felt the parking charge was a bit much, but felt that the rooms were spacious and had plenty of great features. We'll definitely come back again!”

• Ocean view was angled overlooking parking lot, two elevators & ice machine out of order, dining room out of business, hot tub jets not working.

“Rooms were pleasant, but Marriot is a better bet. Hilton overall looked like it is in ill-repair, poor layout of the grounds. I would not stay there again.”

• Elevators did not work well and needed repairs.

• Wonderful, large room.
• There was a lot of construction going on around the hotel. They were also resurfacing the roads of the property which led to traffic jams.

“Overall, this is a nice well located property. The rooms are spacious and nice. The property has a very comfortable feel to it. The only downside on this particular trip was the construction going on at the resort but I understand that it has to be done sometime.”

“The hotel was nice; however the upscale restaurant was being built or refurbished so there were only two choices for food-a small cafe and one restaurant. The outdoor restaurant was closed for the season even though it was Spring Break. Beautiful location even though they gave us a room overlooking the lovely parking lot.”

• Had problems with elevator access and construction.

“This is fantastic hotel to stay at for access to all of Hilton Head. You will not really need to leave the Palmetto resort area for anything. Hotel pool and gardens area is beautiful and relaxing with the fantastic beach and ocean right at your door. Rooms are huge with small kitchenette and very quiet. Im ready to visit again and again.”

• Under construction, small pools were overcrowded, small bar area.

“We were placed in a room by the elevator and Ice machine - Had to be the worst located room there. On top of this, there was a furnace in the main bedroom that would not shut off overheating the room. I reported this to be shut off on my way out to dinner - got back from dinner that night and it was still running. It then took 20 minutes for someone to come and manually shut off the gas line to the thing. Very disappointing.”

• The location was perfect -right on the beach.
• Housekeeping did not show up the first day, No explanation.

“Overall, a great place to stay. Housekeeper did not show up on the first day-no explanation. The other days, housekeeping did a great job. Room had a small (stocked!) kitchenette with coffee maker and coffee. Really made mornings easier. There is a parking charge per day/per vehicle. No options other than to pay the fee. Fee did include valet parking with the vehicle parked across the street. Self-parking allowed for closer parking and easier access to the vehicle. There was a restaurant on-site but it was expensive for the food offered. There is also a deli next to the restaurant (both in the activity center) which offers very basic food items for on-the-go purposes. We thought the offerings were limited. Prices in the deli were much more reasonable than the restaurant. Pool was outdoors with two hot tubs. This area is close to the beach. It was too cold and windy to use the pools. It would have been nicer if there was an indoor pool area.”

• Great views of beach, well appointed rooms, beautiful grounds.
• Food at the "bouy bar" was fairly boring in terms of the menu, not vegetarian friendly.

“The hotel was very attractive. The grounds were well maintained with heated outdoor pools (adult and family) and whirlpools. The gym was stocked with fresh fruit and water after exercising with their many cardio/weight training equipment. The room was tastefully decorated. Staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, a very positive stay. Will definitely go back.”

“Very nice hotel me and my husband went for a weekend getaway and it was just that a getaway. We rode bikes walked the beach and had drinks by the pool just awesome. I would recommend this to anyone.”

• I liked the fact that our room had a fridge, microwave, sink, toaster and dishes, spoons etc.
• We somehow did not find the pillows very comfortable. They were too thick which gave us a neckache.

“Overall the hotel was good. We enjoyed the whirlpool. We also made use of the bicycle rental facility which was very convenient for us. Our room's balcony was quite big, complete with deck chairs and a drying rack, however, the only unfavorable point was that we had a ground-floor room, so we did not have a sea-view. Our room faced the parking lot.”

• Argued with us, rude staff elevator loud at night right at our room.

“We were charged a fee that we were not told about and then they argued with us and said it was on the paper work we signed, I asked to see the paper work again and read it and it said nothing about the charge or hold as they put it on the card. The staff was really rude, all night we could hear the elevators going up and down, our room was right up against the elevators. Very dissatisfied for our anniversary, which should have been special.”

“Have stayed at this hotel several times, always had a great time. Rooms are very large and well appointed. We really enjoyed the quiet, exclusive area and the staff was most polite and helpful. This is not a hotel for the "party" crowd, very low key and I appreciate that aspect. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a very nice, relaxing vacation.”
