• Spacious rooms, great pool.
• No restaurant.

“Staff was friendly and accommodating. Rooms are recently updated and very spacious. Decent continental breakfast. Lovely pool grounds. An on-site restaurant would make it perfect.”

• The grounds surrounding the hotel are attractive in a naturalist sense.
• It hotel could use some attention to detailed fixtures and touch up maintenance.

“Upon entering the hotel grounds I was greeted by live oaks, palmettos and a fat raccoon on his evening forage for food. At the hotel I found the front entrance to be well lit and clean. The auditors on duty were friendly and east to talk to with good senses of humor. They informed me of the complimentary continental breakfast which lasted from 6:30 to 9:00 am.

• Free internet access and free breakfast. They also have a nice pool area.
• The rooms look like they require remodeling. The loft bedroom was noisy.

“The hotel was clean and in a good location. The rooms need to be remodeled. The loft bedroom I felt was noisy. The lobby area was attractive and they served a nice free breakfast in the morning.”

• Comfortable bed.
• I slept in a kitchen to the sound of barking dogs in next room.

“The room was mostly kitchen. Half of the bed is in the kitchen so when you wake up, you see a stove. Other guests had barking dogs which was annoying and we were awakened early in the morning by the hotel staff asking us to complete a survey.”

• Very good breakfast.
• Maintenance of room/hotel.

“We have stayed here for 7-8 years. Good location; near a lot of activities and food. Very good breakfast. Good laundry facilities on site. Pool is adequate. Rooms need some attention on the maintenance side (wallpaper tears; broken handle in bathroom). However, considering the price, the hotel is a very good for a family.”

• The staff was very helpful and friendly!
• Pool area was not always clean, and basketball tennis facility was not working.

“We enjoyed staying here! The staff was knowledgeable and friendly, plus they are located in a very central area that made you feel secluded while being close to island activities! The room was nice and had plenty of space. They have a very nice full breakfast in the morning! The basketball facility was broken (how easy is it to replace a rim). We wished that they would have sprayed the pool area off.”

• The continental breakfast was great. The kids loved it.
• The bathroom was really small but that wasn't even worth complaining about.

“This hotel met our expectations above and beyond. The area was clean, relaxing and perfect for relaxing. The continental breakfast was great with many choices including home made waffles. The staff there was always pleasant and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.”

• The staff was friendly.
• The rooms were not clean. There was not a hot breakfast as described on the internet.

“This hotel was not the worst stay, but it was not what was expected from the description on the internet. The only thing hot about the breakfast was the coffee, and it was lukewarm. The hotel was overpriced for what was offered. The bed were really low and the bed linens were torn. I had a roach in my room, but I only saw one. My family will not stay here again unless there are some major renovations to this place. The exercise facility was a joke. Four machines and two didn't work; not to mention how small the room is. The rooms are really old and are in need of a complete makeover. The rooms smelled horrible. I went out an purchased room deodorizers to keep the smell down. This hotel could be a semi-nice place if someone would put some time, work and money into upgrading the place. The only saving grace to my stay was the staff. They were very friendly.”

• The hotel was wonderful for the price. Pool and breakfast were great.
• Exercise room was poorly furnished and dreary.

“I was pleasantly surprised. We found the rooms to be clean and adequately furnished. The lobby and pool areas were very nice. The hot breakfast every morning was a great way to start the day, although if you wait until the last hour of breakfast, the dining area is very crowded. The location was central to the entire island. The only negative concerning location was that there was not private beach access. We had to drive to the public beaches. (We did not use the shuttle that the hotel provided.) All of the public beaches were very nice and fairly convenient.”

• Decent price, food OK, and shuttle to beach.
• Poor maintenance and front desk doesn't return calls.

“A decent facility, but very poor maintenance. Overhead light and refrigerator didn't work, had to call front desk multiple times to get them to try (unsuccessfully) to fix either. Breakfast area is a madhouse, with poor layout and nowhere near the room needed to support a hotel of that size. House keeping comes once to room, and if you're there at the time the room probably won't get cleaned later - and even if it is, they may not change the trash. Would not stay there again unless much cheaper than alternative.”

• On the last morning we were to leave I saw a bug (roach) in the kitchen area.

“Overall, very pleased with the accommodations. The only negative is the roach that we saw the last morning of our stay. They completely turned me off.”

• Staff was friendly and the lobby was very pretty.
• The hotel in general does not smell good. Our room was so smoky ( even though it was a non smoking hotel). We had to wash all of our clothes again.

“Great location and friendly staff. But the rooms are outdated (we stayed in a loft) and the room smelled like a bar. I truly couldn't get out of there fast enough. The rooms felt dirty and more like a college beach room. I will not stay there again.”

• No beach access or agreement with other beach access hotels.

“Second time we stayed here. First time I had to be rescued from a stuck elevator by the Fire Department (no response from Marriott Corp. when I reported this (June 28 2006). This time my wife found a roach in bed with her and reported it. The staff told us they would take care of this and the loose toilet.”

“There was construction going on around pool. The rooms were supposed to have sofa sleepers and didn't. The construction was too loud to enjoy time in room or pool. Bad experience.”

• Key card entry everywhere, that is secure!
• Under construction in the lobby.

“This hotel was farther away from the beach than I originally thought but still drivable and there was a complimentary shuttle service. But the room was great a little stuffy, but I am sure the age explains that. Overall I think they should have had more amenities.”

• I loved the suites, the location, the overall appearance of the rooms and hotel.
• The rug in my room felt like it could be cleaner.

“This hotel is under construction and by the look of things it will be a very nice place to stay. The location is good, the staff helpful, but overall the appearance of my room and the grounds could have been a bit better kept.”

• The complimentary breakfast was a hit, especially with youngsters who could make their own waffles, and the suite had enough room for the whole family.
• I would have taken a two bedroom suite if offered. It was hard to find, especially at night.

“Our family stayed here for gymnastics meet and we were very pleased with the accommodations. It had enough room for five. The complimentary breakfast in the morning sure beat waiting at a restaurant, and the kids loved making their own waffles. When checking in, the kind lady behind the desk encouraged my daughter to go for 1st place. Not only did she get 1st, but our whole team did! Needless to say, the desk lady was very excited for us. It must have been because of the great stay at the hotel.”

• Staff went above and beyond to be helpful.
• This would be impossible, we enjoyed it so much.

“I have nothing but great things to say about this hotel. It is older but kept in the best order. The staff could not have done more for us, from the day we arrived until we left. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone I know, single, married, with or without kids they treat everyone great, breakfast was a real treat.”

“Good Staff. The hotel is under renovation so a lot of fixtures/appliances are still very old. It's quite comfortable and not very far from the beach. Breakfast is really good.”

• Very convenient location. Room was very nice and spacious.
• It was an issue at first for us to receive a roll away bed in the room. It was resolved.

“The hotel was a great stay. The room was better than expected. I had requested an extra roll away a few days before and when I got there, I was told there was not one available. This was quickly resolved, however, and the bed was brought to the room.”

• High Thread Count Sheets, Comfortable Beds, Kitchenettes in each room.
• Needs some inexpensive repairs, the balcony railing outside was broken very big hazard for our 3 year old.

“The staff was accommodating, the hot buffet each morning was amazing and the pool area was nice although a little too chilly still for swimming. No fault to the hotel.”

• The breakfast buffet was wonderful - only thing missing was bacon and grits.
• We were allotted 3 bath towels daily and needed 4. When asked for more, we were told washer was broken.

“The hotel was clean, but had a little musty smell coming from the air conditioner. The balcony had fallen leaves on it and was never swept or blown during our stay. The balcony could also use a chair or two. We were only provided 3 bath towels for 4 of us, which means one of us had to dry with a hand towel. Also, when asked for more, we were told washer was broken. It must have been broken our entire stay, because we never received more than 3 bath towels.”

• The full-service breakfast (waffles, eggs, sausage, etc.) was awesome!
• The room attendants were a little slow with cleaning our room after 4 PM!

“Overall, our stay at the Residence Inn-Hilton Head was very nice. We found that the location of the hotel was convenient to most all of the island's attractions, the room was very clean, and the staff was friendly! We would definitely stay here again!”

• Extremely comfortable bed.
• I saw a bug and it was a roach in the room.

“I loved that the room was very comfortable and spacious. The breakfast area was small for the number of people at the hotel. The wireless internet available from our room was unreliable. The staff was friendly and courteous. I was not thrilled to find a roach running across the floor in the room. I kept feeling like something was crawling on me all night.”

• The staff was excellent providing maps to sites, free postage stamps and large clean rooms.
• Not located on beach.

“The rooms were large with ammenities like full size refrigerator, stove and kitchen cabinets. They even provided a grocery list in which they would pick up the items for you at no additional cost.They had postage stamps at no charge, when I had to mail my mom a birthday card, and they made sure the mailman picked up the card.The staff had wrtten maps to places I wanted to visit. What a excellent group of people!”

• I like their breakfast buffet and the time (6am '10 AM)
• The swimming pool is too small for the number of rooms and the size of the hotel.

• It was very secure
• They put us in a smoking rooms the 1st night and it was horrible.

“The floor plan was kind of out of date. The rooms had big kitchens. I would prefer a smaller kitchen and a bigger sitting area.”

• The hotel was very friendly and exceeded our expectations
• The only thing negative about this hotel was it's location which was not within walking distance to anything

“This hotel was secluded with a pool, hottub, hot breakfast along with tennis and basketball courts. Anything of need was provided by the hotel at no additional charge. I would definitely recommend this hotel.”

• Location was excellent, access from the street was great
• The bed was too soft, we sunk down in it
