Jeff T. from Albany, GA
“The location is great. Be careful in asking them to book your golf though. Beyond this it is a great place. No ocean front views. Food is overpriced, and not of the best quality, but typical of a regular hotel. Although I seem harsh in this write up, I would return. Enjoy the island and the location for a steal. Beware of the $12 resort fee per night. Didn't effect me but it did the couple behind me who were staying for a week. I give it 4 stars for service and 5 stars for location.” Apr 21, 2008 by
P. from Youngstown, OH
“The staff could not have been nicer. (There is a $12.95 resort fee per day that should be included in the price of the room.).” Apr 19, 2008 by
Maureen from Pineville, NC
“Overall the hotel was fine. Our balcony was not in good shape. The furniture was dirty and outdated. I enjoy the Patio for reading in the early morning when everyone else in my room is still asleep. I missed out. Housekeeping cleaned our room at 4:00 in the afternoon. It was a bit late since we had been at the beach and wanted to head out for the evening. The hotel is older but maintained nicely. We enjoyed our stay at the pool and on the beach. Great pool drinks too.” Apr 17, 2008 by
John from Charlotte, NC
“Staff was friendly, nice and helpful. Room was clean, nice and a good size. Location on Hilton Head Island with access to the beach was great.” Apr 16, 2008 by
Theresa from North Augusta, SC
“Even though we had a view of the roof and smelled the shrimp/oil etc. from the kitchen, the hotel was very nice and convenient. We had a very nice stay and would do it again.” Apr 14, 2008 by
Kim from Auburn, WA
“This was a fabulous experience. I was a little hesitant about the hotel, but was pleasantly surprised. Very short walk to the beach and great pool. They had a fabulous seafood buffet on Saturday!” Apr 14, 2008 by
Anonymous from Marietta, GA
“We are repeat visitors at the Hilton Head Island for a Spring Break trip with an 11 and 13 year old. The hotel is still a great hotel, but is starting to look a little tired and outdated in certain places. The sliding glass doors should be replaced with patio doors, the deck furniture and deck was dirty, hall wallpaper is outdated. The grounds are beautiful and are great for walking, lounging and a quick walk to the beach. It is truly a place to relax and not leave for a day. The hotel staff is stellar, especially the night bellhop who greeted us after a long ride from Atlanta.” Apr 11, 2008 by
Kathy from Raleigh, NC
“Absolutely beautiful premium hotel. Staff was very friendly especially the doorman. Would be great for a romantic getaway. We felt like we were in the Caribbean.” Apr 9, 2008 by
Roger from Bethesda, MD
“Very clean and attractive hotel. Perhaps 3.5 stars.” Apr 9, 2008 by
Marlene from Newnan, GA
“The resort fee was $12.00 and we did not get anything more than what a 2 star hotel offers. The rooms were recently renovated and nice. The staff was friendly but that is expected at a resort quality location.” Apr 8, 2008 by
Craig from Cadillac, MI
“Very nice place to stay. Very friendly staff. Had a pleasant stay.” Apr 4, 2008 by
Tim from Fernandina Beach, FL
“I was charged a $12/day resort facilities fee.” Apr 3, 2008 by
Michele from Alpharetta, GA
“My stay was quiet and enjoyable. However upon arrival the "clean" bathroom was still dirty - hair in the tub. The floors were not properly vacuumed either - evidence of the prior guest. Housekeeping and/or maintenance only do one round of clean up - food from someone's dinner or a spill in the elevator would remain until the following day. Not very appealing to the eye. Having stayed at other resorts - this does not compare. Three stars at best.” Apr 2, 2008 by
Ian from Newton, NC
“Our stay was outstanding, with a great beach; nice pool area, very nice landscaping, and rooms were great. Front desk person I dealt with was great, very helpful when we checked in, and provided the room I was looking for. Had breakfast buffet. Outstanding!” Mar 29, 2008 by
Malisa from Bristol, TN
“I have been to Hilton Head Island many times over the past 20 years. My favorite place to stay is the Marriott. Next, would be the Crowne Plaza, and my third choice would be the Westin. Each offers something unique in their amenities and location.” Mar 27, 2008 by
Richard from Charlotte, NC
“Love the location, staff friendly, and gate staff not so polite, very abrupt. Parking cost $6 per car per day, we had two cars. I hated that, the Marriott and Westin as well as Crown Plaza do not charge parking. Boutique staff not nice at all, very curt, I had my kids, she did not realize they were with me and was very rude, they were not misbehaving, just looking.” Mar 27, 2008 by
Caroline from Pooler, GA
“We enjoyed our stay at the Crowne Plaza, it was very family friendly. The staff was excellent and we enjoyed the room, especially the balcony. The extra charges and taxes added a lot to our overall bill, so we were not thrilled with that. But, the location is great and the staff did go above and beyond to make sure we had a nice holiday, so we would definitely return.” Mar 26, 2008 by
Nikki from Marietta, GA
“Nice, but not 4 star. Pool looks a LOT bigger in the pictures and it feels too secluded. Liked Marriot and Hilton much better.” Mar 18, 2008 by
Darlene from Fort Pierce, FL
“Management staff in the restaurants overwhelmed, disorganized, not helpful. Food horrible. Wait staff nice but appeared to be overworked.” Mar 14, 2008 by
Tami from Decatur, GA
“The resort exceeded our expectations. We thoroughly enjoyed strolling the gorgeous grounds each morning with our complimentary coffee. The service was excellent. We needed to check in early in order to get ready for an afternoon wedding and they were very accommodating. Our only complaint was that it was very cool (high 50s/60s) and we would really like to go when it is warm (we stayed in early March).” Mar 13, 2008 by
Victoria from Winston-Salem, NC
“This hotel was not as nice as it seemed online. The hotel was priced to high for what it was really worth. I stayed at a Comfort inn and suites with a bigger room, a better view, and a kitchenette for a better deal. I was very disappointed with the resort.” Mar 13, 2008 by
Karen from Buckhead, GA
“Beautiful accommodations, although the ocean was quite far away.” Mar 6, 2008 by
Pamela from Stockbridge, GA
“We would stay here again. The hotel was very quiet and we LOVED that. Not quite as nice as the Hilton down the road, but for the money it was a great buy.” Mar 3, 2008 by
Rachelle from Aiken, SC
“When I called to inquire on the ability to have a crib in my room and 2 double beds, I was told "you did book this through a 3rd party and I can't guarantee you anything". It was just a request. This comment make me feel very little. We usually stay at the Westin or Main Street Inn on our trips to HH, but since we had some friends staying at this hotel we decided to give it a shot. If my stay wasn't nonrefundable I would have canceled right then. On a lighter note, once we arrived the front desk staff was very knowledgeable and friendly!” Feb 27, 2008 by
Dave from Chapin, SC
“The hotel is conveniently located on the beach, with ample parking. There is a resort fee charged ($12/day) for the in-room coffee packets, the pool, and exercise room. Yes, the same things a Comfort Inn gives for free. Wireless Internet costs $9/day, in-room wired access is free. The room was a good size, though the tub was very small (even for my 4'11" 105lb wife). No microwave or mini-fridge (there is a mini-bar with $2 candy bars). All in all, very pleasant, but nothing special.” Feb 24, 2008 by
Philip from Dayton, OH
“Wonderful experience. Great location with easy beach access. Beautifully landscaped grounds with lagoons, pools, etc. Rooms are spacious. Ours with King bed and pull-out sofa. Even with the mandatory resort fee of $12.” Feb 21, 2008 by
Jose from Buford, GA
“Nice hotel, great location, ocean front. But I think they need to clean the air conditioner conducts and a better cleaning carpet.” Feb 21, 2008 by
Tre from Dunwoody, GA
“Room as not cleaned during stay and no one at front desk seemed to even care.” Feb 20, 2008 by
Cj from Raleigh, NC
“Great Value for the price.” Feb 20, 2008 by
Carolyn from Suwanee, GA
“This hotel is perfectly fine. It's safe, modern and comfortable. It is a resort but they are stingy with the benefits; although you get free in-room make it yourself bathroom coffee, and free wired internet in your room, you don't get a robe and there is no happy hour reception. I had to pay a $20/day upgrade fee to get a non-smoking room.” Feb 13, 2008 by
Susan from Virginia Beach, VA
“The Crowne Plaza was a nicely appointed resort hotel. The grounds were lovely and manicured precisely. There was a very nice workout room and indoor pool. The proximity to the beach is hard to beat!” Jan 23, 2008 by
April from Simsonville, SC
“Overall, this was a very nice hotel and room. I didn't like having to pay the extra $12 resort fee for which we used none of the options (especially in the winter). The bed was a little too firm and I would have preferred a wider selection of pillows. Otherwise, the hotel was nice.” Jan 10, 2008 by
Timra from Mooresville, NC
“Desk staff did not offer view options, our view out of our rooms was the top of a roof that obscured our view of anything else. There were undergarments discarded under our balcony. The breakfast buffet was ordinary and overpriced. The omelet chef was unfriendly and rude.” Dec 28, 2007 by
Gus from Milwaukee, WI
“Overall we had a very good experience at this hotel. I had read some negative reviews, but we enjoyed our stay. There was even a "sleep" CD along with some soothing lotion on the bed when we got there. The staff was very friendly and the grounds were quite beautiful. The location was quite central and we could go where we needed quite quickly. Watch out for the $12 resort fee that allows you to park, access high speed internet and such.” Nov 28, 2007 by
Ann from Hickory, NC
“Rooms are nice size. Staff very attentive to needs. Workout room was very well equipped. Very clean” Nov 27, 2007 by
Kumar from Novi, MI
“Great and friendly staff in hotel, restaurant, lobby. Good and tasty food. Private and clean beach with white sparkling sand. Excellent place for a romantic vacation or private get together for group or families.” Nov 26, 2007 by
Eric from Waxhaw, NC
“Very nice stay, front desk was very accommodating. Room was nice, and they let us upgrade to better room.” Nov 15, 2007 by
Mary from Atlanta, GA
“Would definitely recommend this hotel.” Nov 11, 2007 by
Robert from Acworth, GA
“This hotel is in shabby condition for a high priced resort property. The lobby is reasonably good shape but most appointments are quite worn and in need of replacement. I mean more than just a new paint job. The pool and spa are in terrible condition. We wouldn't even use the spa because the plaster had a dingy brown ting to it. There are large paces f plaster missing from the surface of the pool, and the pool wasn't heated. We paid extra to get a room with a view of the internal court yard areas that are quite nice, but our room on the 4th floor only had a view of the tree braces immediately outside the balcony. Definitely overgrown, blocking the view of anything else. Additionally, there is a $12/day "resort" fee that increases the daily rate. There is no explanation for what this charge is for. I experienced nothing that provided any value for this extra charge. All in all, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone based on the physical condition and the price. I'd have been really upset if Id ad to pa the going rates instead of the relatively good price.” Oct 30, 2007 by
Pat from Evans, GA
“Staff was helpful and courteous. Room was basic with a comfortable bed. Not really resort quality. This was the second time we tried for a Hilton head hotel and got this resort both times. We were hoping to try a different resort the second time.” Oct 17, 2007 by
Shaunt from Monroe, NC
“I was hoping for the Westin when I put my bid in for the hotel. I got the Crowne Plaza. I was very pleasantly surprised. The grounds were very well kept, very lush, and an overall calm exuded from it. There is private access to the beach. The pool area was very nice and the pond was full of life (fish and turtles). We later drove around the island looking at the other resorts and the Crowne plaza was one of the best even better than the Westin. The only downer was the room seemed to be too standard, which by the pictures Ive seen; the other resorts seem to have invested more in the accommodations.” Oct 15, 2007 by
Allen from Cookeville, TN
“Nice accommodations after I removed the big dead bug in the bathroom floor. Family enjoyed the bike ride especially Tuesdays special 2 for 1 price deal. We did not appreciate having to pay a $12 resort fee for items that are normally a part of anywhere you stay.” Oct 10, 2007 by
Vickie from Chowchilla, CA
“Beautiful location on the beach, nice pool area. Easy access to white sand beaches. Great seafood buffet and happy hour (3 hour) very impressive lobby and lovely gardens. I would recommend this resort; just ask not to be placed over looking the roof and air conditioners.” Oct 10, 2007 by
Lisa from Jacksonville, FL
“Rooms were dirty, roaches in bathtub, sink and bureaus, Definitely not a 4 star hotel. Rooms small.” Oct 9, 2007 by
Candace from Armuchee, GA
“It was nice but the included amenities were no better than I have received at Holiday Inn or La Quinta. It was very beautiful though and we loved the bedding and sleep advantage program!” Oct 9, 2007 by
Ken from Charlotte, NC
“Secluded in a "plantation" (gated community), this hotel provides some feeling of exclusiveness. Restaurants were a little disappointing, but all staff was friendly and helpful. It's a good place to "get away from it all." we'd go back.” Oct 5, 2007 by
Dave from Cumming, GA
“Overall, a nice hotel, but expected better beds and not worn/dated rooms. Also, no fridge or micro available, which you find in other 4 star places on HHI. Overall, a decent experience, but expected a bit more and the $12 per day "resort fee" is insane, considering that it covers things like local calls, use of the exercise room, a newspaper and discounts at the restaurant. Just more profit, really. I don't hate the place, but I wouldn't waste my money there next time either. The Holiday Inn is closer to the beach, cheaper and seems almost as nice. I'll go there next time.” Oct 5, 2007 by
Swandini from Wake Forest, NY
“Based on internet reviews we read, we were disappointed and had low expectations and even considered canceling our trip. To our surprise, the resort was outstanding. Our room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and very acceptable. It's our new favorite.” Sep 29, 2007 by
Elise from Raleigh, NC
“The hotel is in a good location and is oceanfront. We liked the on site bike rental. On the down side, they make you sign a guest sheet to use the indoor pool and hot tub, in addition to the fact that you need a room key to get in. You also have to sign a sheet to get towels by the pool. It doesn't feel very vacation like to be signing for things constantly. Wireless access in common areas is not free and a $10 dollar a day fee is charged for things that should be included, such as self parking, coffee service in the room, etc. We ordered room service one morning and were eating in the room when the maid came to clean (between 10 and 11am). She told us that she only had one more room on our floor besides ours and acted as though our room would not be cleaned if we did not let her in right then. I had to call guest services twice later in the day to get someone to come and make the bed, bring fresh towels, etc. In conclusion, this resort is ok, but it's the least favorite of the resorts where we've stayed in Hilton head. The Marriott and Hilton in palmetto dunes are both nicer.” Sep 27, 2007 by
Jennifer from Greensboro, NC
“It was ok, expected a higher level of employee service. The restaurant on sat. Was not crowded (10 people) for the seafood buffet. We were seated and waited about 7-10 minutes and no server or water. Asked the hostess for another table - wish granted but the level of service just wasn't there considering the resort and the amount of people in the restaurant. Food was supposed to be the best buffet on the island, not so and for the price definitely not. The rooms were nice, but you can tell getting old. Had to switch rooms, because the shower filled the tub with water and TV volume crackled; then in new room light bulbs were burnt out and toilet seat was not on tight! Things were corrected, but just shouldn't have happened in the first place. We are priority members and had turn down service and that wasn't accomplished completely. They didn't realize the pull-out had to be turned down and forgot the chocolates. Although these might be minor things they add up to your experience at the hotel. The bell staff was wonderful and was more helpful then some other employees. Also have to remember there is an additional $12.50 resort fee per night at this hotel. Basically for internet and towels at the pool, which are standard at other hotels.” Hotel Representatives:
