• It was clean and pleasant.
• They were painting hallways at the time of trip.

“The staff was pleasant and the hotel was clean. You never know what you will find right on the beach. It was family oriented but for a family with older children, it was not over run with smaller children. It was also close to a good variety of restaurants and shopping. I would definitely stay there on my next trip.”

• Beautiful scenery and well decorated. Comfortable and relaxing.
• Misleading pricing at breakfast buffet. Gratuity added but only 1 visit from waitress to bring drinks and bill. Pancake like brick, muffin soggie.

“Nice location although too dark (for turtles?) and beautiful area. Comfortable room but no real balcony to sit on like I thought I was paying for. A little noisy (outside bar music) if one wanted more relaxation but very entertaining. Very nice pool and lounge area. Gift shop a little cramped. We could hear a little kid running back and forth in room above us until we fell asleep. It wasn't the best stay ever but we would go back and try it again. Very seldom is everything perfect. It was very nice place to stay. Overall we had a pretty great experience.”

• Right on the beach, great tiki hut bar, large pool, nice kiddy pool and playground, even had volleyball!
• Room was dated, bathroom had issues, leaky refrigerator, and maintenance did not solve problems with fridge, horrible food in restaurant.

“The best thing about this hotel was everything on the outside of it! The kiddy pool and adult pool was nice, great tiki hut bar with beach volleyball right next to it, and a nice enclosed playground for the kids. We had our own access to the beach which was great! The rooms were dated, the toilet wouldn't stop running, and peeling paint and a leaky refrigerator were the downfalls. We called maintenance about the fridge and instead of fixing it; he turned the cooler to max. It stopped the leak b/c it froze everything in it, including all our food! The restaurant in the hotel had terrible, overpriced food, but luckily there are enough cafes and restaurants in walking distance to make up for this, and the shopping is wonderful! We are a family of 5 and had a great time.”

“This hotel was below our expectations. It is in great need of renovations in many areas, including the guest rooms and bathrooms. We would not return to this hotel when visiting Hilton Head Island in the future.”

• Pool was large.
• Not a clean hotel.

“Not a clean hotel at all. Stains all over the carpets, yellow stains in tub and along the walls. Beds were ok, hard. Elevators smelled of smoke. Location was great, but the view was horrible. We thought we were getting an oceanfront or at least ocean view and instead we got a beautiful view of the roof. Either side of the hotel was not a nice view. Food was expensive! Your better off going locally to Salty Dog Cafe. For a Holiday Inn, we were very disappointed. We will not return there.”

• The staff was wonderful. The young lady that checked us in was excellent.
• Both meals we had at the hotel were served cold and I had to wait for at least 30 minutes after I finished my meal for the ticket.

“The hotel was an average hotel. I paid $14.00 for a hamburger fries and a coke and couldn't even get onion and pickle for it.”

• The ocean front location and the seafood buffet are the best things about this hotel.
• The hotel overbooked the night before and our room was not ready when we checked in. It was very hot in the hallway by the elevators.

“Great location. Nice pool and tiki hut area. Sea food buffet at the hotel restaurant was wonderful. Other than that the hotel is very average. Staff was nice enough and the room was okay. We only stayed one night so it was no problem but I would not want to stay at this hotel if our vacation had been longer. Carpet by the air conditioner in room was soaking wet. Hallway by the elevators was extremely hot.”

• Its location was perfect for dining & shopping.
• Most rooms had no balconies. Our problems were not taken care of right away. They tried to charge us for services not used. We had no phone for 3 days.

“They don't have many rooms with balconies, which really isn't good for staying at the beach. They charged us for services (movie charges, mini bar, etc) that we did not use.”

• Hotel is tired. Restaurant is out of touch/date.

“Great location directly on the beach! Easy access (in and out) of the hotel and reasonably convenient to all locations on the island. The hotel works for business, romance and families. The only disappointment is that it could be even better with an update and better management (at least 20 years out of date). The famous tike hut is closed for the off-season, so the hotel is basically dead (not a destination for anyone local), other than incredible access to the beach. ”

• They added an $8.00 per day "Resort Fee?" I was very disappointed in that.

“The hotel was located right on the beach which was really great for our children. The outside pools were really nice, especially the kiddies pool. The hotel staff was pleasant. I would recommend the room to be kept in a better manner and the cleaning needs to be better.”

• The location was great. Only got in my car twice in five days.
• A very large handicapped accessible room was rather cramped with such a very large bathroom.

• It is on the beach and has a family interest atmosphere. The swimming pool allows privacy with full use and enjoyment.
• There was hair in the bathroom when we arrived.

• The motel was in a very good location and the rooms were extra nice. It was more than what I expected. A very pleasant surprise.
• Did not have a balcony but it more than made up for that.

• The thorned plants hung along the narrow walkway.

“They preassign the specific hotel rooms that have lower quality compared to regular customers. For example, our room 119 was next to the elevator engine room. You can hear day and night constant engine noise. Toilet tank water was keep running even after fixed by maintenance.”

• The front desk clerk treated us like a 2nd class citizen. We had to speak to the manger to get a room.

“This hotel is in a great location and has a lot to offer everyone from families, couples and singles. After you get past the front desk staff, you should have a great time. There seemed to be a lot of hostility up there but the rest of the hotel staff was great. The pool is awesome and so is the nightly entertainment. There is plenty to do for kids. It is far from perfect but you will enjoy yourself.”

• It was very close to a shopping center.
• The room was very small, it didn't have a pull out couch, which was indicated on their website.

“My family and I were very unhappy with our stay. The only non-smoking room was a handicapped room that didn't have a sofa bed. The room was very cramped and needed to be renovated--the door had major water damage. The bottom floor, where we stayed, smelled like mold. The staff had to use some type of fan to dry the carpet. The day before we left, there was a huge spill directly in front of our room--the staff used two huge pool towels to soak up the water. The towels were still there when we left and the rug was very wet. The restaurant needs to be updated. The booth in which we had breakfast, was so worn that the hostess told us that it wasn't sand! Me, my husband, and child will never recommend this hotel to anyone. Instead of being a two star hotel, it should be listed as a one star.”

• The location was excellent and the pool area was very nice.
• The live music at the Tiki Hut Bar ended at 10:00pm, they said this was because of the hotel. I thought this was to early.

“This was a pleasant weekend visit. The hotel room itself was adequate, but I sure wouldn't have wanted to pay any higher price than I did. You were definitely paying for the location and not the hotel room as it was nothing special. The staff was friendly, the pool was nice and it was a clean room. We tried to eat at the restaurant on site, but the line was to long.”

• Hotel definitely does not meet my definition of a "resort". Rooms were on par with a Motel 6 at best.

“The Holiday Inn Oceanfront "Resort" is very convenient to the Hilton Head Beach. The hotel's rooms are average at best. Water pressure was horrible. Sheets were uncomfortable. Bed was well used and not very supportive. Overall, I'd say if you pay 60 bucks a night and your primary objective is just to have a place to crash after a long day on the beach, then the Holiday Oceanfront "Resort" is fine. Pay any more than that or expect more from a "resort" and you will be sorely disappointed.”

• Location. Nice pool area, plenty of places to set and enjoy your stay.
• Hearing slamming doors in the mornings when I preferred to sleep in. I was put on level 1 and my room seemed moist.

“Older but maintained. Can't beat the location. Good firm beds and pillows are provided in varying firmness to suit your taste. Employees were very nice. Felt very Secure during my stay. Nice.”

• HUGE disappointment inside. No way this should be considered a 3 or 4 star hotel.

“Location is great, convenient & nice pool/outside amenities Inside was such a huge turn-off though. Bathroom tile, etc. needs renovating Elevator was slow. Staff seemed confused & ill informed.”

• Staff very friendly, room kept clean daily plenty of ice.
• Elevators were very slow.

“Our room was very nice in all areas. the lobby area of the hotel, where the elevators were , was a little dirty and dark looking but the room was great shape clean and big. within walking distance to several good restaurants but the beast was Hudson's Seafood which is at the entrance to the Island.”

• Great pool area for kids.
• Beach bar that catered to beach traffic and not to those staying at hotel.

“The hotel was great and what I had expected when I made the reservation. I did not like the fact that anyone could come into the pool area if they were going to the bar. For this reason, I would probably look at a different hotel for our next stay on the Island. At check-in, the kids received a sand bucket with goodies in it -- that was great!”
