“Hotel was nice, but not worth nearly the suggested price. Older place in need of upgrading. The pictures of the pool area are very deceiving. Rooms clean and staff friendly. Beds were uncomfortable.” Aug 16, 2009 by
Sarah from Columbia,SC
“I enjoyed the Tiki Hut and the location of the hotel, but the room seemed alot smaller in person than what was expected for the price. Staff was friendly and welcoming.” May 24, 2009 by
Sharon from Thomson,GA
“Clean. Had a helpful, personable staff. Food was good in the restaurant.” May 19, 2009 by
Kimball from Salem,VA
“Location was nice, the bathtub had a grab bar that came loose when handled and trash fell into bathtub. Very disgusting.” Apr 12, 2009 by
Dan from Peachtree City,GA
“We were given a smoking room, and could not change to a non-smoking room. Although the smoke odor was minimal and not too bad. We stayed for two nights. The room was a little larger than a standard room and our room contained a king-size bed and coach.” Feb 24, 2009 by
Stephen from Rochester,NH
“The hotel was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The shower area could have been a little cleaner, the walls were stained with lime deposits, and the soap dish fell off the wall the last morning we were there. We were very pleased with the hotel over all.” Sep 25, 2008 by
Lisa
“The hotel room was damp, clothes and bedding grew mildew within the first two days. The bathroom was losing tile and the plumbing dilapidated. The room had ants, when we went to the front desk to get a different room; their response was condescending at best - as if our standards were too high. After we changed rooms, we noticed the room had been cleaned and given to another guest the next day, there is no way that room had dried out it had serious plumbing issues. The second room was not damp, but still felt more like a motel 6. Would not stay there again.” Sep 22, 2008 by
Alicia
“It was overall nice, but more expensive then what it was worth.” Sep 4, 2008 by
Kim from Charlotte, NC
“The hotel was clean and friendly. The room was very clean and we never had a shortage of towels. Had a great Tiki bar and pool area. Beautiful ocean view from the Tiki bar. Great location. Over all I would stay there again and recommend it to my friends and family.” Aug 21, 2008 by
Jessica from Savannah, GA
“We enjoyed our stay. We only stayed for one night. It could be a little cleaner and updated. The location is awesome. Parking is limited but they have valet. They could do a better job of regulating who uses parking lot and pool, limit to hotel guests only. Only ate breakfast at hotel and it was good but not worth $10 for what we ate.” Aug 21, 2008 by
Millie from Bristow, VA
“Nice hotel for family vacations who want beach access. Not so great if you're looking for a quiet beach spot. Oh and watch out for the jellies in the water! Ouch!” Aug 18, 2008 by
Marquittia from Jacksonville, AL
“Location was great on the beach, however, be sure you ask for room with an oceanfront view, as there is no guarantee. Housekeeping was great, but accounting staff was very rude. My room key decided not to work one day, so when I went to the front desk to exchange it, the guy in front of me was having the same exact problem. The guy in front of me was not given any problem. When it was my turn, sighs of frustration ran over the guys face. I should have been frustrated, but he gave me a rude sigh and threw my hotel key back on the counter!” Aug 11, 2008 by
Adam from Augusta, GA
“I really enjoyed the location and amenities it offered. My only disappointment with this hotel was an unprofessional staff member.” Aug 10, 2008 by
Natalie from Spruce Pine, NC
“OK hotel nice pool but will not stay there again.” Jul 28, 2008 by
Nate from Pickerington, OH
“Good location/quality for the price/location. Pool was very nice. Room size was good. Hotel staff was not very knowledgeable about the area which was disappointing.” Jul 23, 2008 by
Jason from Knoxville, TN
“Pros: 1.) Cheap 2.) Quiet 3.) Good pool access. Cons: 1.) Old and smelly 2.) Had a person in the lobby at all times trying to sell you a discount program. 3.) Had to walk further to your car to park than to the beach and at night zero lights outside. 4.) Very dirty carpets! Wear your socks or shoes at all times! 5.) Shower was interesting. Overall if you are looking for a cheap place to sleep and not concerned about any frills, this is the place for you. I would stay here again because I only wanted to go to the beach! We were there for three days and only in our rooms long enough to sleep and change clothes.” Jul 16, 2008 by
James from Clermont, GA
“Excellent place to stay, will stay there again.” Jul 16, 2008 by
Ima from Atlanta, GA
“I should have opted for an Inn instead. This place was **icky**. Bedroom had another door connecting to maybe the next door room. Lock was not working very well so they put a chair there. Scared me a lot. Balcony was 1foot broad. Could barely stand. On entering the room stunk like 'Phenol' cleaners. The cleaning staff made only the beds and took the dirty towels. Left everything else untouched and dirty and gave only one towel for the second day. Parking was too far away and had to walk back at night in the dark.” Jul 16, 2008 by
Kim from Marietta, GA
“The Metropolitan hotel of Hilton head is a good value for travelers on a budget. I was able to take my daughters on a 3 night beach vacation and not spend a lot of money. It is a short walk to the beach and there are lots of shops about a mile and a half away from the hotel. The complimentary breakfast, although with a limited selection, aloud me to go down and take breakfast back to the room to have waiting for the girls when they woke up. There was a refrigerator and microwave in our room which was a plus. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. There is a small business center with a computer so that guests can check their email with a 20 min time limit. I was pleased with my stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone who is wishing to take a beach vacation.” Jul 16, 2008 by
Jeff from Alpharetta, GA
“This is a great hotel for 20 - something's looking to be close to the beach without spending a fortune. Fortunately, it was the spring break crowd I sort of expected, but there was definitely a younger demographic there. For the most part, the hotel was clean, but in need of some updates and minor repair work. But there was nothing that wouldn't keep me from staying there again.” Jul 3, 2008 by
David from Jamestown, NC
“This hotel is not at all as bad as it may seem. While it is not the Hilton or Westin it is a great place to be able to enjoy Hilton Head Island with a great location off one block off the beach. With that said if you are a picky traveler stay some where else however, if you are there just to enjoy the pleasures of Hilton Head this makes a great place to stay. It is also located to the nicest beach on the island.” Jul 2, 2008 by
Janet from Carnesville, GA
“I thought the hotel was nice for the amount of many we spent.” Jul 2, 2008 by
Shara from Atlanta, GA
“Hotel is being renovated. We were told that our room was already renovated, but it was a disaster. It was in a convenient location. Across the street from the beach, which was nice and it was cheap, but we probably won't stay there again.” Jun 16, 2008 by
Connie from Dublin, GA
“Room was nice, location was excellent. Only thing was restaurant. I didn't get my food and when it did came. It wasn't right. We didn't get biscuits for the kids and then she told me they didn't have any when I asked about them twice and no refill on drinks.” Jun 15, 2008 by
Mila&Mario from Bowling Green, KY
“The best hotel, best prices, super nice for kids, very friendly, A+.” Jun 7, 2008 by
Rochelle from Jackson, SC
“I think that this hotel needs a little work, one of the elevators was out of order our entire stay. The bathroom in our room did not meet my expectations, the tub clogged after each use. The location of the hotel was great, we enjoyed being right on the beach. Overall our stay was fair.” Jun 5, 2008 by
Amanda from Norcross, GA
“For a traveler on a budget I would suggest this hotel. It is right across the street from the beach, about 5 minutes away from Sea Pines front gate and close to dining and entertainment. My husband and I really enjoyed staying here. Staff is very nice. We will be going back again as soon as possible.” Jun 3, 2008 by
Karen from Acworth, GA
“I would stay there again.” May 30, 2008 by
Christina from Champaign, IL
“The staff was pleasant and the hotel was clean. You never know what you will find right on the beach. It was family oriented but for a family with older children, it was not over run with smaller children. It was also close to a good variety of restaurants and shopping. I would definitely stay there on my next trip.” Apr 23, 2008 by
David from Charleston, SC
“Was disappointed, older hotel with old, dirty rooms, not enough parking and staff was untrained, the only good thing was great location, right on beach.” Apr 13, 2008 by
Cathleen (. from Louisville, KY
“Nice location although too dark (for turtles?) and beautiful area. Comfortable room but no real balcony to sit on like I thought I was paying for. A little noisy (outside bar music) if one wanted more relaxation but very entertaining. Very nice pool and lounge area. Gift shop a little cramped. We could hear a little kid running back and forth in room above us until we fell asleep. It wasn't the best stay ever but we would go back and try it again. Very seldom is everything perfect. It was very nice place to stay. Overall we had a pretty great experience.” Mar 26, 2008 by
Jared from Mcdonough, GA
“It was a nice vacation. I would refer my friends to the hotel.” Mar 20, 2008 by
Katie from Wooster, OH
“The best thing about this hotel was everything on the outside of it! The kiddy pool and adult pool was nice, great tiki hut bar with beach volleyball right next to it, and a nice enclosed playground for the kids. We had our own access to the beach which was great! The rooms were dated, the toilet wouldn't stop running, and peeling paint and a leaky refrigerator were the downfalls. We called maintenance about the fridge and instead of fixing it; he turned the cooler to max. It stopped the leak b/c it froze everything in it, including all our food! The restaurant in the hotel had terrible, overpriced food, but luckily there are enough cafes and restaurants in walking distance to make up for this, and the shopping is wonderful! We are a family of 5 and had a great time.” Jan 30, 2008 by
Pete from Lantana, FL
“The location was easy enough to find and everything you could need was within walking distance. They have a beautiful big pool. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel.” Jan 7, 2008 by
Renee from Mahomet, IL
“This hotel was below our expectations for a 2.5 star hotel. The location was very convenient and probably the reason it gets the extra 1/2 star rating! Guest room/bathrooms need to be renovated.” Jan 7, 2008 by
Renee from Mahomet, IL
“This hotel was below our expectations. It is in great need of renovations in many areas, including the guest rooms and bathrooms. We would not return to this hotel when visiting Hilton Head Island in the future.” Dec 19, 2007 by
Sam from Evans, GA
“Poor quality and service.” Dec 3, 2007 by
H. Martin from Gastonia, NC
“Not a clean hotel at all. Stains all over the carpets, yellow stains in tub and along the walls. Beds were ok, hard. Elevators smelled of smoke. Location was great, but the view was horrible. We thought we were getting an oceanfront or at least ocean view and instead we got a beautiful view of the roof. Either side of the hotel was not a nice view. Food was expensive! Your better off going locally to Salty Dog Cafe. For a Holiday Inn, we were very disappointed. We will not return there.” Oct 6, 2007 by
Martha from Lancaster, KY
“The hotel was an average hotel. I paid $14.00 for a hamburger fries and a coke and couldn't even get onion and pickle for it.” Oct 3, 2007 by
Lauretta from Keystone Heights, FL
“Location was excellent- couldn't ask to be any closer to the ocean.” Sep 7, 2007 by
Charmaine from Springfield, VA
“The hotel is at a great location on the beach. Most of the staff at the hotel was very friendly except for the checking staff. I would stay at this hotel again in the near future.” Aug 27, 2007 by
Lanis from Massillon, OH
“Very nice hotel directly on the beach. Nice pool that allows you to walk directly from the pool to the beach. Clean, comfortable rooms.” Aug 15, 2007 by
Christina T. from Grovetown, GA
“Great location. Nice pool and tiki hut area. Sea food buffet at the hotel restaurant was wonderful. Other than that the hotel is very average. Staff was nice enough and the room was okay. We only stayed one night so it was no problem but I would not want to stay at this hotel if our vacation had been longer. Carpet by the air conditioner in room was soaking wet. Hallway by the elevators was extremely hot.” Jul 16, 2007 by
Renee from Hoffman Estates, IL
“The air conditioning in the hallways and in the elevators did not work. Temperatures were about 99-100! Room was dirty. Bed sheets had stains. It was just awful.” Jul 13, 2007 by
Terrance from Warner Robins, GA
“The hotels night life was great with live music and drinks in their tiki hut. The only problem with the hotel is the amount of parking that the have is not enough.” Apr 23, 2007 by
Valerie from Strawberry Plains, TN
“They don't have many rooms with balconies, which really isn't good for staying at the beach. They charged us for services (movie charges, mini bar, etc) that we did not use.” Mar 20, 2007 by
Judy from Gladstone, MI
“Air conditioner went out on the last night and we had to change rooms; this was handled well.” Jan 30, 2007 by
Robert from Marietta, GA
“Great location directly on the beach! Easy access (in and out) of the hotel and reasonably convenient to all locations on the island. The hotel works for business, romance and families. The only disappointment is that it could be even better with an update and better management (at least 20 years out of date). The famous tike hut is closed for the off-season, so the hotel is basically dead (not a destination for anyone local), other than incredible access to the beach. ” Jan 13, 2007 by
Keith from Mount Pleasant, SC
