“Staff was friendly. Room had loose fawcett in vanity area. Also 1 of the beds had damp bedding. Beds weren't as comfortable as what we usually have at hotels.”

“Hotel is old and need to be refurbished. It is very convenient to everything and the room was clean. Some of the furniture was kind of old and not very stable. I would probably stay there again because of convience.”

• Nice location near a pleasant beach, good landscaping.

“The Hilton Head Comfort Inn is located nicely and well-landscaped. Rooms are aimed at families traveling for time at the beach in the summer, and a bit dowdy for a romantic couple's get-away. Staff was varied: some polite and friendly, others pretty unpleasant. Overall the experience didn't make me want to go back.”

• Rooms clean lobby could be better.
• Lobby had musty smell, and front desk was in another building.

“All and all nice hotel. Lobby was little musty. But room was clean with no musty smell, nice breakfast, but had to walk to other building, but staff was polite. And when wanted to go to beach there was free shuttle to take you to and from, or you choose you could walk was not too far I would stay again price was fair!”

• The hallways smelled like wet dogs, I guess because it was a pet friendly hotel.

“I didn't know that pet friendly meant that there would be animals running in the hallways and the carpets would smell so terrible.”

“We think the best thing about this hotel was the reception area which was away from the hotel itself and the breakfast! At arriving at our room we found the decorators painting all the doors to the other rooms on our floor. The plug in the wash basin didnt stay down, television was temperamental and handle on patio doors was broke (this was reported but no-one came to fix it) and the hairdryer fused on the last day. We were there for 3 nights. Pool and outside area was quite nice (saw the alligator). Coffee was not replaced regularly in room and staff not too helpful/friendly. The location for the beach was good, just across the road. Very dark at night though if you are walking out to/from the nearby shops/restaurants. Enjoyed Hilton Head but not Comfort Inn unfortunately.”

• The location was fairly close to beach access.
• The continental breakfast & check in was in a totally different building. You had to drive or walk to it.

“The continental breakfast (which wasn't well attended) & the check in lobby was in a totally different building. You had to drive or walk to it. There wasn't enough parking at night, and had to park in the parking lot far away from the hotel. The outdoor pool was not heated, and the guest pool towels were not stocked frequently.”

“Walking distance from beach. Breakfast was a big wonderful surprise! We expected rolls and juice and we got fresh made waffles, boiled eggs, fresh fruit plus all the regular things! We were thrilled! Pool was not heated.”

• Currently under construction, red card posted to stop construction on door, hard to locate, check in/rooms in different buildings.

“Would be very hard to locate without map or GPS, no street signs. Under construction with notice to stop on main door. Pond behind with alligator by doors. Would not stay with small children. Common areas dirty/need updates.”

• I liked the fact it was open, great for the beach.
• The TV did not work in my parents room.

“This hotel is not 3 stars, definitely 2 star. Great if you are in Hilton head for the golf and not spending a lot of time at the hotel. It had a decent breakfast in the morning and plenty of restaurant options around it. Our room came equipped with a refrigerator and microwave, but my parents room did not.”

• It was a very comfortable hotel for the money that we spent. We would return again at the same rate. We had a really good time!
• The main lobby was separate from the actual hotel building. It was something that we didn't like.

“My family had a really great time! We were in Hilton Head for an overnight getaway. We would like to return. We live on a tight budget and you helped us getaway for a well deserved mini vacation.”

“While it is a clean place and right at the beach, this there is nothing deluxe about this hotel. It is a little old and worn but for what I paid, I was pleased.”

“Great place for the price, only problem we had was the heat did not work in our first or second rooms, so we had to try 3 rooms and even thought the hotel was practically deserted (beach in winter) they would not let us upgrade to a room with a king size bed. I was not impressed with their customer service at all. Overall everything else was good for the money.”

• The location of the hotel was beautiful. I liked the balcony and the great shower.
• It's just an older hotel that needs some renovation. Smells damp.

“This hotel is perfectly fine for someone on a budget. It is located in a beautiful setting, is clean, and features balconies, which was a nice surprise. The shower was great. This is an older hotel in need of renovation, but Id say my stay was better than expected for the price I got.”

• The grounds were great very pretty and Natural.
• Some of the other areas of the Hilton head are were off limits to us.

“Well located for restaurants and shopping, but all was relatively high priced. Our room and the common areas were clean and attractive. The hotel has plenty of exit doors, so most guests can park fairly close to a door. Heating and a/c were easily controlled and worked well. The complimentary breakfast was adequate but lacked the variety of the comfort inn in Charleston. A pond behind a condo, between the hotel rooms and the registration/breakfast area, contained an alligator about seven ft. Long that was often visible (very exciting for a pair of Midwesterners.).”

• It was clean, quiet, and close enough to the beach.
• Room door had to be pushed hard to close, opening under the door edge.

“Overall, it was clean and situated conveniently close to the beach for our purpose. There seemed to be good activity and pool areas for individuals and families. The breakfast buffet was excellent, and the desk clerk and breakfast help were all very friendly.”

“I can't believe I wasted my money on that hotel. I wouldn't stay there again if my life depended on it. Black mold on the ceiling. The room smelled like urine. The clean sheets were stained. House keepers were jerks, except for one guy. Save yourself a bad trip and go Holiday Inn.”

“Great place with convenient location. 5 minute walk to the beach and shops, restaurants, nightlife, etc. super close to grocery store, which was nice since the rooms come with microwaves and refrigerators. They even have a lake out front with an alligator, which was cool. There were tons of kids there, unfortunately, but that seemed to be par for the course for Hilton Head in general.”

“We enjoyed our stay at the Comfort Inn on Hilton Head Island. We stayed here before we went to our condo and it fit all our needs for the couple nights we stayed. I would stay here again for the same reason we did this stay.”

“This Comfort Inn did not meet my expectations. It was older and more run-down than what I would have expected for the price, and 2.5 star rating. The rooms are badly in need of updating and there is no fitness center on site. Thankfully, the beach is just a short walk away.”

• Smoke alarm went off with steam from shower. Party noise at 2 a.m. for an hour. Where was security?
