“Excellent hotel with great views and facilities (gym, kids activities, spa and stores).” Aug 12, 2008 by
Troy from Tallahassee, FL
“First, the positives. The hotel is conveniently located on the beach with easy beach access. It's also a great location on Hilton Head Island, across the street from Shelter Cove Harbor shopping and dining and other family entertainment. The hotel has two pools (a very large outdoor pool and a smaller indoor pool that is not nearly as crowded). The hotel also seems very family friendly and had activities for children. Now, the cons: The parking lot is too far from the hotel entrance. Travelers have to haul their luggage uphill at least 200 yards to enter the hotel (amazingly, no elevator access from the parking lot for guests, but there is if you're a hotel employee). Secondly, there are only three elevators serving all ten floors of the hotel. Sometimes guests would have to wait ten minutes for an unfilled elevator to arrive. Further, the beach/pool towel process was confusing and we were not informed as to how it works until the final day of our stay. Apparently, you receive a towel card that entitles you to two towels per card. You give the card to an attendant when you collect the towels and return the towels to a dirty hamper when done but you are never given a card in return. It wasn't until we had no remaining towel cards and tried to get towels that we were informed as to how the process works (make sure you ask for a card upon returning towels). Finally, our room assignment was less than desirable. While the hotel has numerous rooms with beautiful panoramic beach views, our room had a great view of the distant parking lot and roof tops of adjacent buildings.” Aug 12, 2008 by
Meg from Duluth, GA
“This is our second stay at the Marriott Resort. Both visits were great. Last year we brought the kids, this year we didn't. The staff is great and very attentive for both types or trips.” Aug 12, 2008 by
Dan from Tampa, FL
“First they sent me to a Handicap room which smelled bad. Then they moved me to an ocean view room which was nice. Then I got a call from the front desk which said a mistake was made and they had to move me again. They were not going to give me an ocean view room. So I had to move 3 times. The final room was ok but a little too dirty and the door would not close without pushing hard. Parking was difficult and crowded. Overall, I was very unhappy with this stay and would not want to stay there again.” Aug 12, 2008 by
Barbara from Palm Beach Gardens, FL
“I highly recommend this hotel as a resort destination and would definitely stay there again. The facilities are superb and the staff is knowledgeable, efficient and friendly.” Aug 12, 2008 by
Brian from Huntersville, NC
“They originally put us in a room that was a very bad rooftop view and very noisy because it was above the hotel restaurant and bar area. We complained, and they moved us to a nice ocean-view room in the south building. Very quiet and comfortable.” Aug 12, 2008 by
Lingqing from Loveland, OH
“Right spot near the sea and friendly staffs and managements! Room, bath and TV are a little too old!” Aug 11, 2008 by
Lisa from Kersey, PA
“This is the best hotel on Hilton Head Island. I have also stayed at the Crowne Plaza and although a perfectly fine hotel. It could not hold a candle to the perfect experience the Marriott offered. I cannot say enough about how pleased we were and I have stayed at many 3 and 4 star hotels. Perfect staff, perfect pools, perfect scenery, absolutely gorgeous, comfortable and a spectacular price.” Aug 11, 2008 by
Emily from Mount Pleasant, SC
“Too many families with too many kids and not enough elevators. Overall, a pleasant experience, but not great. After discussing the freight elevator situation with front desk manager, she gave us an ocean front room which was very nice.” Aug 10, 2008 by
Nancy from Cornelius, NC
“Overall this was a wonderful place to say the pool deck was amazing and we had a wonderful stay. I would highly recommend the hotel to others. No air conditioning in elevators which I found unusual. But a great place all in all.” Aug 7, 2008 by
Carl from Chattanooga, TN
“The hotel staff did everything possible to see that our needs and some wants were met.” Aug 4, 2008 by
Heather from Melbourne, FL
“Despite the humidity of the summer, my family of five greatly enjoyed the warm ocean waves and the lovely pools at this hotel. We took advantage of tennis lessons, boat rentals for fishing and bike rentals to check out the local neighborhoods. Excellent restaurants were plentiful and within 10 minutes of the hotel. Highly recommended.” Aug 4, 2008 by
Dallas from Somerset, KY
“Great place to stay. Short walk to the beach. Loved the resort.” Aug 2, 2008 by
Darrell from Asheville, NC
“This was our second stay. With the exception of the high humidity in our room, I highly recommend the Hilton Head Marriott Resort And Spa. The hotel is beautiful and the staff is the most professional of any hotel I have stayed. You can't go wrong with this hotel. I will most certainly visit again.” Aug 1, 2008 by
Paul from Norfolk, VA
“Excellent resort, excellent staff and great value!” Jul 31, 2008 by
Kimberly from Columbia, SC
“This Hotel and Spa exceeded my expectation I enjoyed my stay and didn't want to leave I will be visiting regularly.” Jul 31, 2008 by
Melody from Irmo, SC
“Hotel was great. Property was beautiful. Would recommend to anyone!” Jul 31, 2008 by
Stephen from Hendersonville, NC
“The motel is a very good location on Hilton Head Island. Our room had a lot of maintenance needed such as two wall sockets almost came out of wall, outdated TV, musty odor, drinking glasses were dirty had to exchange, tissue box was empty. The bed was very comfortable with lots of pillows and down bed spread. Plenty of towels in bath room. When I ask if their was another room I was told that the motel was sold out. I don't think so.” Jul 31, 2008 by
Cathleen from Grovetown, GA
“Overall, we had a wonderful experience with this hotel. The pools were wonderful, it was right on the beach, and the service was excellent. Our room had an ocean view, which we weren't expecting at all. Highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely go back.” Jul 30, 2008 by
Sarah from Macon, GA
“This hotel was attractive, had a great location, and great staff. The only bad things we experienced were a very dirty comforter. At times we had to wait 10+ minutes to get on the elevator as there were only 3 available. We would have used the stairs more had our room not been on the 9th floor.” Jul 30, 2008 by
Gayle from St. Ann, MO
“It was a great hotel and the staff was the best I have ever encountered anywhere.” Jul 29, 2008 by
Kelly from Milton, GA
“We've stayed here two summer's in a row and overall like the property a lot. The live music on the pool side is enjoyable.” Jul 29, 2008 by
Holly from Winder, GA
“Great! They forgot to send up rollaway and I had to call back to get it. They quickly solved the problem and not only called to apologize but sent up an apology note and some candy gifts which more than made up for their oversight. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Property was very pretty and kid friendly.” Jul 29, 2008 by
Erica from Woodstock, GA
“We enjoyed our stay. The kids were thrilled with the free lemonade in the lobby and wanted to go to the lobby every afternoon for it. The beach was beautiful. The room was very nice. We had an Island view. But we still could see the beach. The pool was incredibly crowded. The hammocks were a nice treat. Only downside was not knowing I had to pay for parking. $10 for self and $18 for valet.” Jul 28, 2008 by
Tim from Huntersville, NC
“A very nice resort.” Jul 28, 2008 by
Stephanie from Martinez, GA
“Beautiful 5 star resort directly on the beach in Palmetto Dunes Plantation in Hilton Head. Great pool, health club, restaurants everything needed for a fantastic beach vacation. We were upgraded to ocean front room and view was priceless.” Jul 28, 2008 by
Linda from Marietta, GA
“We very much enjoy staying here as the rooms are clean & comfortable and we love the large pool deck. It is convenient to all Hilton Head. The friendliness of the staff is amazing.” Jul 24, 2008 by
Colleen from Martinez, GA
“We enjoyed a pleasant stay. Staff were extremely friendly. When waiting in a short line at the front desk, employees monitored the line to see if they could answer questions or needs of the guests. The pools and beach are very nice. We wish there had been a cut through from the parking lot with beach gear directly to the beach rather than having to go through the lobby. Elevators were extremely slow.” Jul 23, 2008 by
Linda from Thomasville, GA
“Rooms spacious, soft beds, couch, clean, lacks free internet in rooms.” Jul 23, 2008 by
Maria from Chicago, IL
“The rooms are spacious and the balconies are ok. The public areas are nice, though the pool area should be updated. Really family oriented.” Jul 23, 2008 by
Layli from Madison, WI
“First class hotel with friendly staff and all the amenities. Super helpful and friendly concierge, doormen, bellhops, and front desk staff. Complimentary lemonade and citrus water in the lobby, which was welcome in the South Carolina heat. Spa on premises. Very nice fitness center will all your needs. not just a treadmill and some Power Bloc weights. This one had a full set of dumbbells, resistance training equipment, elliptical, recumbent bike, upright bike and treadmills. Bike rentals nearby, several restaurants, shops and the beach, out your back door, with a full bar. We will be back to Hilton Head Island and we will definitely be back to the Marriott Resort and Spa.” Jul 22, 2008 by
Susan from Atlanta, GA
“Great location, accessible to all the good restaurants and tennis. the pool area is overrun with children and loud music, so it is great if that is what you are looking for. The maid service was spotty, our room did not get cleaned until well after 3:00 in the afternoon. The balcony had bird all over, so we did not spend much time enjoying our view of the ocean. Lastly, we were on the 3rd floor directly above the bar area all weekend. Due to the design of the lobby, our room was very noisy and since the hotel was sold out, they could not move us. Do not stay in a room on the 3rd floor.” Jul 21, 2008 by
Doug from Roswell, GA
“It's just a great place to stay. The hotel is a bit older but that's fine. That means the rooms are bigger and you have more space to spread out. Pool and beach are great here, well-kept and the staff for most-part is terrific and goes out of their way. It's very nice.” Jul 21, 2008 by
Cindy from Aiken, SC
“Great getaway for family and couples! Surrounding are beautiful! Family friendly events.” Jul 19, 2008 by
Barb from Aiken, SC
“Very pleasant check in. Nice rooms with excellent bath amenities, nice short walk to beach, everyone at hotel very nice, would love to stay there again.” Jul 19, 2008 by
Jason from Bethesda, MD
“It was a great place for an out door wedding.” Jul 17, 2008 by
Adam from Lake Mary, FL
“I would not stay in this hotel again unless they improved their rooms. We had to move three times while staying in this hotel. The reasons in this limited space are too numerous to explain.” Jul 17, 2008 by
Lisa from Reston, VA
“This hotel was pleasant, the rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. the only annoying part was the hotel cleaning staff started very early in the morning and it was hard to go back to sleep, we were always woken up by the vacuum cleaner which is upsetting when you are on vacation and want to sleep. The pool was great, the food was delicious and I would go back.” Jul 17, 2008 by
Jody from Longwood, FL
“The hotel was very nice, great location great staff. I was very upset that we were charged $10 for daily parking when the parking lot was quite a distance from the front of the hotel and when its raining you get Soaked! Complimentary coffee in the lobby would have been nice too.” Jul 16, 2008 by
Morgen from Tulsa, OK
“Great for families traveling with children or for folks who don't mind being around lots of families with children.” Jul 16, 2008 by
John from Jacksonville, FL
“Perfect location; close proximity to golf, beach, and shops.” Jul 15, 2008 by
Russ from Seven Hills, OH
“Right on beach and friendly staff. Steep hill on walk to parking lot is very slick when wet. My friend had a nasty fall on the way to car.” Jul 15, 2008 by
Tina from Marietta, GA
“Have stayed here many times. The location is perfect - right on the beach. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Elevators are pretty slow and the walls are paper thin. We were awake late every night and after many phone calls to the front desk, nothing seemed to change.” Jul 14, 2008 by
Charity from Warner Robins, GA
“The hotel is not setup for an extended stay especially with a family. A microwave nor a refrigerator was provided which suggested that the hotel wanted its guests to pay the expensive prices for dining at its restaurant or drive a few miles to a local restaurant. The hotel offered self parking and valet parking. Self parking was $10.70 and valet was $18. If an individual parks his own vehicle he should not be charged to do so especially while being a paying guests. I was thoroughly disappointed with these aspects of this hotel and will not recommend it to anyone visiting Hilton Head.” Jul 14, 2008 by
Raj from Acworth, GA
“A resort hotel worth staying at.” Jul 14, 2008 by
Kristy from Buford, GA
“We go to HHI every year for our anniversary and were very happy to visit the Marriott again. Some other resorts it is a bit of a hike from the pool to the beach. Not at the Marriott. You can see the water from the pool. The staff is always the friendliest. They have a good size parking facility so you don't have to struggle to find a parking spot at the end of the night.” Jul 14, 2008 by
Cindy from Augusta, GA
“We enjoyed our stay at this resort. The employees are especially friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. The only thing we didn't like about the resort was the fact that there were so many children running everywhere - especially toddlers. I think that large hotels should put couples or singles in one part of the building and families in another part. I would also suggest separate swimming pools so that adults can enjoy a swim or a conversation without being splashed and kicked. I love children, but I never allowed mine to bother other people.” Jul 11, 2008 by
Shane from Leitchfield, KY
“Beautiful beach, front resort with plenty of amenities. Though the elevators good have been in better condition but if that is the only thing I can complain about that's a good thing.” Jul 11, 2008 by
Becki from Brooklyn, OH
“I had a great time at this Marriott property. The beach here is beautiful and easy to get to. Very nice resort.” Jul 10, 2008 by
Linda L. from Charlotte, NC
“I would stay there again. I found it very convenient to a lot of things. The staff was most friendly and helpful, but the rooms were a little lacking. I didn't like that there was not a refrigerator, just a cooler that didn't work.” Hotel Representatives:
