• Great location, friendly staff, nice activities for the kids, waterslide, etc.
• Rooms at this level should have refrigerators and microwaves. The pool deck was not as clean as it should have been and more shade is needed.

“We've stayed here two summer's in a row and overall like the property a lot. The live music on the pool side is enjoyable.”

“Great! They forgot to send up rollaway and I had to call back to get it. They quickly solved the problem and not only called to apologize but sent up an apology note and some candy gifts which more than made up for their oversight. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Property was very pretty and kid friendly.”

• Paying for parking when we were staying in the hotel.

“We enjoyed our stay. The kids were thrilled with the free lemonade in the lobby and wanted to go to the lobby every afternoon for it. The beach was beautiful. The room was very nice. We had an Island view. But we still could see the beach. The pool was incredibly crowded. The hammocks were a nice treat. Only downside was not knowing I had to pay for parking. $10 for self and $18 for valet.”

“Beautiful 5 star resort directly on the beach in Palmetto Dunes Plantation in Hilton Head. Great pool, health club, restaurants everything needed for a fantastic beach vacation. We were upgraded to ocean front room and view was priceless.”

• Very friendly staff that worked to quickly answer your questions/needs.
• Parking is downhill of the lobby entrance, though valet parking is available it is expensive.

“We enjoyed a pleasant stay. Staff were extremely friendly. When waiting in a short line at the front desk, employees monitored the line to see if they could answer questions or needs of the guests. The pools and beach are very nice. We wish there had been a cut through from the parking lot with beach gear directly to the beach rather than having to go through the lobby. Elevators were extremely slow.”

• Friendly staff, comfortable beds, location right on the beach, all amenities within easy reach.
• Gave us a bad view (completely obstructed by the wall and roof).

“First class hotel with friendly staff and all the amenities. Super helpful and friendly concierge, doormen, bellhops, and front desk staff. Complimentary lemonade and citrus water in the lobby, which was welcome in the South Carolina heat. Spa on premises. Very nice fitness center will all your needs. not just a treadmill and some Power Bloc weights. This one had a full set of dumbbells, resistance training equipment, elliptical, recumbent bike, upright bike and treadmills. Bike rentals nearby, several restaurants, shops and the beach, out your back door, with a full bar. We will be back to Hilton Head Island and we will definitely be back to the Marriott Resort and Spa.”

• No frills, loud pool area, small workout room for size of hotel.

“Great location, accessible to all the good restaurants and tennis. the pool area is overrun with children and loud music, so it is great if that is what you are looking for. The maid service was spotty, our room did not get cleaned until well after 3:00 in the afternoon. The balcony had bird all over, so we did not spend much time enjoying our view of the ocean. Lastly, we were on the 3rd floor directly above the bar area all weekend. Due to the design of the lobby, our room was very noisy and since the hotel was sold out, they could not move us. Do not stay in a room on the 3rd floor.”

“It's just a great place to stay. The hotel is a bit older but that's fine. That means the rooms are bigger and you have more space to spread out. Pool and beach are great here, well-kept and the staff for most-part is terrific and goes out of their way. It's very nice.”

• They waived the $10 parking fee which my husband objected to.
• Really nor anything I can think of except the $10 parking which we didn't have to pay.

“Very pleasant check in. Nice rooms with excellent bath amenities, nice short walk to beach, everyone at hotel very nice, would love to stay there again.”

• The rooms were awful.

“I would not stay in this hotel again unless they improved their rooms. We had to move three times while staying in this hotel. The reasons in this limited space are too numerous to explain.”

“This hotel was pleasant, the rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. the only annoying part was the hotel cleaning staff started very early in the morning and it was hard to go back to sleep, we were always woken up by the vacuum cleaner which is upsetting when you are on vacation and want to sleep. The pool was great, the food was delicious and I would go back.”

• The parking for $10/ day was not necessary since the lot was far from the hotel.

“The hotel was very nice, great location great staff. I was very upset that we were charged $10 for daily parking when the parking lot was quite a distance from the front of the hotel and when its raining you get Soaked! Complimentary coffee in the lobby would have been nice too.”

“Right on beach and friendly staff. Steep hill on walk to parking lot is very slick when wet. My friend had a nasty fall on the way to car.”

“Have stayed here many times. The location is perfect - right on the beach. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Elevators are pretty slow and the walls are paper thin. We were awake late every night and after many phone calls to the front desk, nothing seemed to change.”

“The hotel is not setup for an extended stay especially with a family. A microwave nor a refrigerator was provided which suggested that the hotel wanted its guests to pay the expensive prices for dining at its restaurant or drive a few miles to a local restaurant. The hotel offered self parking and valet parking. Self parking was $10.70 and valet was $18. If an individual parks his own vehicle he should not be charged to do so especially while being a paying guests. I was thoroughly disappointed with these aspects of this hotel and will not recommend it to anyone visiting Hilton Head.”

• Directly located on the beach with a beautiful pool that overlooks the water.
• Small gym facility.

“We go to HHI every year for our anniversary and were very happy to visit the Marriott again. Some other resorts it is a bit of a hike from the pool to the beach. Not at the Marriott. You can see the water from the pool. The staff is always the friendliest. They have a good size parking facility so you don't have to struggle to find a parking spot at the end of the night.”

“We enjoyed our stay at this resort. The employees are especially friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. The only thing we didn't like about the resort was the fact that there were so many children running everywhere - especially toddlers. I think that large hotels should put couples or singles in one part of the building and families in another part. I would also suggest separate swimming pools so that adults can enjoy a swim or a conversation without being splashed and kicked. I love children, but I never allowed mine to bother other people.”

“I would stay there again. I found it very convenient to a lot of things. The staff was most friendly and helpful, but the rooms were a little lacking. I didn't like that there was not a refrigerator, just a cooler that didn't work.”

“We visited this beautiful oceanfront property on the 4th of July. Though very busy, the staff handled the crowds with maximum finesse and the facility is well maintained. We especially liked the hammocks by the sea. There are some minor things that could be improved. There is no fridge in the room, the 3 elevators were too slow and $10 per day was added for parking even if you self parked!”

• The beach was private and all you had to do was walk outside the hotel.
• The parking was a little far and had to pay parking fee everyday instead of one rate.

“The services were great. It rained the second day of our visit and they provided kids with games and water gun t play with in the indoor pool. There was pool side service and they had scheduled events for the kids everyday. My entire family agreed this is the only beach in South Carolina we will vacation at ever again.”

• Bad bedding, noisey and bathroom laidout poorly.

“They gave a room next to the elevator and the public laundry room. It was very noisy. The shower in the bathroom was terrible. You couldn't turn the water on without getting wet. The bedding was in very poor condition. It was like sleeping in a hammock.”

• The bed did not have a mattress pad, mattress was old & worn. The bathroom was not cleaned thoroughly prior to my stay.

“Excellent location, lots of activities for the family, many pools. Hotel should look into having happy hour specials for cocktails and appetizers. Housekeeping staff was awful, called twice for a mattress pad which never came after waiting an hour. Finally went to the front desk and requested mattress pad, which one was finally delivered. Bathroom could have been cleaner, hair strands on the floor & in the shower.”

• I liked the friendly staff, the comfy beds in the room and the pool and beach area.
• The expensive per day self parking fee.

“The hotel was very nice. The rooms were very clean with nice comfortable beds. The hotel staff was very friendly. The pool area was nice with a great indoor pool with a ping pong table and big screen TV for the kids. There were fun supervised activities poolside/beach for the kids. The only negative thing was the high fee to self park the car. Very expensive for one week - almost $11 per day!”

• The hotel location was fantastic. Right on the beach and pool side service for food and drinks.
• The room was a bit outdated. A partial remodel was done, but rooms need further work.

“Spacious and aesthetically pleasing lobby with bowls of fresh green apples, lemonade and lime water coolers. Very friendly and helpful staff. We did not get an ocean front room, but for the price I am ok with that as the ocean was just a few steps away. On the negative side, I think it is chintzy to charge for parking and wireless internet access. Overall, we were very pleased and comfortable!”
