• The beds were comfortable.
• Very old kitchen facilities. Nasty stairwells. Rude desk employees.

“For the price, this hotel is not a particularly good deal. The rooms were large and generally uncomfortable, but the kitchen was antiquated and you had to ask if you wanted pots, pans, etc. There was only one ice maker in the entire hotel. No breakfast was included, and the restaurant breakfasts started at about 10$. WiFi was 9.95$ for 24 hours. Daily newspapers were 75 cents. Local calls were costly. Security was terrible. The back door remained propped open during my entire stay. If you arrived after 11 pm, you had to walk quite a distance from the parking deck at the back of the hotel to the main entrance around front. I complained twice about the lack of any lighting on the exterior of the hotel after dark. The entranceway, stairs, and the parking decks were pitch black. I was told that the lights were on timers and that there was nothing staff could do about it. I would not recommend this hotel to any woman traveling alone or the elderly.”

• All suites! Room was huge with balcony.
• Lots of kids in pool till very late - lots of leaves in pool.

“If you get the opportunity to stay here, do so. It is a beautiful place with giant rooms. Also, you can walk to the mall in 3 minutes.”

• Everything staff, pool, very spacious room, quiet, and
  close to everything, Beautiful area of town.
• Teen-agers in pool after hours being very loud and I had a young child wireless should be FREE! Trying to sleep.

“Great place, with the staff was beyond my expectations. Extended stay due to medical issue and staff at front desk and even housekeeping did EVERYTHING to make mine and my 3 year old sons stay one that was welcoming and comfortable! Only complaint is wireless should be free after all it is in most places. Room service should be a wee bit later!”

• Convenient to shopping and symphony pops concerts
• Rooms are old and dingy, parking garage in very poor condition

“It appears small renovations are taking place. Rooms are very dingy and our carpet was still wet from shampooing. Nothing smells fresh and clean. Outside parking is very limited and the covered garage is old, dark, leaks when it rains, and feels unsafe.”

• Ambiance and setting of hotel were excellent.

“I would recommend this hotel to any traveler, including those with discriminating taste. I felt I got an excellent value for a night's stay at a very nice property. Simply superb grounds and location - adjacent to an eye catching amphitheater where the Charlotte Symphony plays regularly in the summer. Outstanding in every respect.”

“Beautiful hotel with the most accommodating staff. Whatever you needed, they found a way to fulfill that need. Very nice suite, very spacious with kitchen. Very clean! I would love to stay there again!”

“Very comfortable rooms, friendly staff, and love the warm cookie on arrival. Facility is always clean, and well maintained. I did, however, find an unknown charge ($4.83) on my credit card statement that was not explained.”

• I appreciated being able to spread out in a fairly clean room with a comfortable bed.
• There was dried toothpaste on the sink, the restaurant gave me a rib eye but charged for a fillet, and breakfast was over-priced.

“Located beside the South Park Mall, the Doubletree is convenient to all of Charlotte but closest to its restaurants. The service is top-notch, and the quality of the rooms and staff will leave you with the sense that this really is a luxury hotel.”

• The room was spacious.
• Very noisy with fans/vents and people walking above.

“We loved the room, more spacious than we required and very comfortable. Away from the elevators but not very easy to get too. Poor parking access to hotel front, when doors lock after 11 pm. Were surprised internet use had a fee and the noise in the room at night was loud with fans vents blowing on and off all night and the people walking on the floor above us. Sound proofing seemed minimal like they would have fallen through our ceiling.”

• Great location and
  very spacious room.
• Poor quality linens, sheets were very scratchy. Blanket on sofa bed had holes. Musty smell in room.

“Great location adjacent to South park Mall. Lobby area was beautiful, but room was a disappointment. It was very large, but smelled musty. Sheets were not a high thread count and were scratchy and pilling. The blanket on the sofa bed had holes in it. I could hear noise coming from the room above and beside us.”

“Front desk staff was very professional and friendly. Chocolate-chip cookies are fantastic. Parking deck was lighting fair. Hallway lighting was bright and warm. Room was well apportioned and clean.”

• The bedroom. It was spacious and the bedding was luxurious.
• Wireless internet was $10 per day. It's free in cheaper hotels.

“I will definitely look for a Doubletree suite the next time I travel. We stayed in a 2-bedroom suite that was clean and spacious. Each bedroom had it's own bath and the kitchen and common area were shared. In addition to a TV in the common area, there were TV's in both bedrooms. The bed sheets were snow white and fresh. The king bed had lots of down-filled pillows and a down comforter topped off with a soft micro fiber cover. Very nice.”

• The beds were excellent and the showers were nice and hot.
• The employees at the desk (at night) seemed distracted. We would have used the kitchen, but didn't want to ask for pots/pans.

• It was a very comforting place after a long travel.
• The sheets needed to be newer.

“I use to visit this hotel when it was the South Park Hotel. What a fabulous difference. It was well over any expectation I had. Everyone was friendly. The rooms were roomy and clean and the shower heads were very relaxing. As a traveler for business and pleasure I am definitely going to stay here more often. I found my hotel for Charlotte.”

• The room was missing towels. The carpet was dirty as well.

“The hotel was beautiful; the location was perfect for shopping- right next to the South Park Mall in Charlotte, NC. Did not like the dirty carpets. Appliances very outdated. After checking in and getting to the room we found the room was not prepared- towels were missing and the towels there were dirty.”

• Theft of luggage occurred and hotel refuses to acknowledge it.

“Friendly enough, rooms clean but ceiling leaking all over lamps and floor when I arrived. Needs maintenance and upgrading. Most serious complaint: Blatant theft of my suitcase contents when I inadvertently left my suitcase in the room on checkout. When the bag was returned to me, several items of new clothing (tags still on) had been removed, along with two new books. The bag had been neatly repacked after someone had clearly taken some time to thoroughly go through it. Upshot: Manager denies charge, says I must have misplaced the items. In short, no one believes me, even though I have a witness who watched me pack my bags. I'm disappointed!”

• Kitchen area not clean, A/C quit working.

“It was not bad, but the kitchen garbage had not been emptied (no telling how long it had been sitting there) and housekeeping turned our A/C off (it was 86 degrees) and when we came back to the room it did not work. But an engineer came quickly and got it started again, but it literally took all night to get the room cool again.”

• How close it was to the South Park Mall and the lounge.
• Can't really think of anything - had a nice stay.

“We were just in town for the night to do some shopping at the South Park Mall; therefore, this hotel served it's purpose for us - it was literally right next door to the Mall. Also, large rooms with even a small kitchen! Staff was very friendly.”

“The Doubletree/South Park is a great hotel for those that want to avoid the hustle and bustle, and parking issues, of Downtown Charlotte. It's within 10 miles of downtown, so great for business travelers, and next door to the most upscale mall in the area, great for leisure travelers. It's also great for long term guests and families as we had a room with a small kitchenette - stove, refrigerator and dishwasher. I would certainly recommend it.”

“In my opinion this hotel did not live up to the 3 star billing. Older facilities and and rooms plus inconvenient parking would make me try for a different choice next trip. On the plus side these are full suites and could work for longer stays or family stays if you are not too picky.”
