• The room was spacious and I loved the decor.
• For the price, there were too many extra costs including $18 per day for parking and $10 per day for internet.

“Overall, I loved my stay at this hotel. The decor of the room and the size was nice. It would have been nice to have a bath tub. Also, considering the cost, parking at $18 per day and internet service at $9.95 per day should be included. Those two things may make the difference in my choosing to stay elsewhere next time. However, for the business traveler, the location is great.”

• Check in and out easy and room was nice.
• Everything was closed.

“$25 for valet parking $18 if you park your self should not parking come with the price of the hotel. Hotel had indoor pool, mall, fitness center, YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association) but every thing was closed at 7 PM on a Saturday why have it. Obviously the bar did not care about the glasses cause there were about thirty out side in front of the hotel where you can smoke. The food there was outrageous I think it was $15 for a hamburger. In the room had nice 42 in flat panel TV but picture had line through center of TV, no fridge not even a mini-fridge now this is supposed to be 4 star or better. AC made a horrible screeching sound all night long. You could hear rooms next to you flushed toilet or ran the shower. Overall in a great location would stay again but just overnight would not stay for a vacation.”

• Paying for parking is crazy.

“I loved the hotel, very clean, roomy, comfy, very nice staff, and right downtown. My only complaint is the same complaint I have for most all high star hotels, everything is charged from parking, internet, food, nothing. $4 for a can of coke at the restaurant is ridiculous. But, I would go again, I really enjoyed my stay, just plan on going out to breakfast and the yummy diner next door.”

• I liked the location and decor. The pillows and bed were heaven!
• There was not enough dining choices avail for weekend visits.

“This hotel had great service and conveniently located. The rooms were decorated nicely with an urban contemporary flavor. I absolutely feel in love with the wonderful linens on the bed; especially the pillows. I was disappointed in the dining choices for the weekend. They are literally non-existent after 5pm on a Saturday. My family and I settled for pizza. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for anyone planning to visit the downtown Charlotte area.”

• Rooms are beautiful and right in uptown, very convenient.
• Inadequate room service, expensive parking, nickel and dime you.

“We stayed at the Hilton Center City for our first stay. We stay uptown for a night many times as a treat for our son. Of all the upscale hotels in Charlotte this is by far the worst. They charged us more for parking in a public lot then I could have paid if I parked on my own. There are no vending machines on the room floors, the room service menu was very limited. Two sandwiches and a dinner salad was over 60 dollars. They charged for everything including internet which is not the norm for uptown Charlotte. It was so bad. We will not stay at this hotel again.”

• It was close to entertainment.
• I saw empty soda cans and food in hallways.

“Hilton Center City is a very nice hotel. I will not say it is 4 star materials though after staying at the Intercontinental in Georgia. The staff was very helpful even though we had to wait some time to get our radio changed out because of defective sound system and they said it could only be done by an engineer. We were put in a one bed room even though I requested double beds before we first got there but as soon as this was explained someone from guest services came up and moved us. I will say that I was disappointed to see empty cans and food strewn around the premises. Something I wouldn't expect a four star to let is seen.”

“Overall, my wife and I were very pleased with the hotel. We were in town looking for a place to live for an upcoming move. The hotel was very clean, in walking distance to all of Uptown and had a light rail station on property. They do not have any workout facilities or pool (YMCA is next door and available at a nominal daily fee). Also, they do not include internet access. It is an additional $10 per day. As expected from a city hotel, parking is limited and expensive and the breakfast buffet was $17.however, it was well stocked and fresh.”

• Screaming baby next door. We left a newborn at home to come to a hotel. Ironic we woke up next to one.

• They charged for the use of the gym facilities.

“The hotel was nice, although there was construction going on outside and on our floor. The hotel was surrounded by business buildings and not much nightlife close by, however, the staff was very nice as was the hotel. It is more suited for the business traveler, than the couple looking for a romantic weekend getaway-as we were.”

• Nice room, nice bed, nice TV, nice bathroom.
• Parking desk security is severely lacking. Roaming gangs late Friday night at garage entry. No guards in sight.

“Nice hotel. Nice restaurant. Nice room. Nice location. But - when returning to the hotel around 11:30 PM Friday night, there were several young punks hanging around the garage entry, but there was no security guard in sight.”

“This was a great hotel. The rooms look recently renovated with flat screen TV's and the nicest bathroom I've ever seen in a hotel. I'd definitely stay there again, especially for the price.”

• I don't like paying for parking! Thin walls.

“If you're paying good $$ to stay somewhere, parking should be provided. It's $18 a night, $25 for valet parking! Walls are also paper thin - woke up by some loud kids in the hallway at 7:00, I left my own kids with a babysitter for peace! Other than that it was a wonderful experience.”

“I did not sleep well in this hotel. The beds are soft mattresses that sink when you lay on them. With two people this is a tragedy. They were sold out of king size beds, so my husband and I had to sleep on a double bed while our daughter slept on the other double bed. I would not ever choose to stay at this hotel again.”

• They charged $12 to use the pool/hot tub at the YMCA (a day).

“The hotel is in a nice and safe location by many restaurants. On the down side, everything is an extra charge. To even place a local call to find out about the pool at the YMCA (located in the building) they charged us $1. It cost $12 a day if you want to work out or use the pool/hot tub at the YMCA. Parking was also $18 a day. It was a nice hotel but it seemed like, for the price, some extras should be in the price. If you don't want to work out or don't mind spending the extra money on top of the price of the hotel then this hotel is very nice!”

• Excellent service, well designed and appointed for a Hilton. This was a very different experience than what I expected.
• Not given correct directions - that resulted in a 2 hour delay in returning to the hotel on a not muggy Saturday evening.

• Stand-offish front desk clerks, not helpful to tourists.

“Beautiful hotel. I think that it should mention to potential guests that there are current hotel renovations taking place. Some hotel exits/entrances will not be used during their stay. Other than that it's a beautiful hotel and the front desk clerks should be trained on tourists attractions to some degree. Suggestions to guests would be nice with a friendly personality.”

“I strongly recommend that they update late menu or staff accordingly. I held off eating until late evening expecting to get a full meal as indicated by the menu and all I was able to obtain was a cold sandwich. No other options existed. Went to bed hungry.”

• The hotel Staff was the best of all the stay.
• Every little thing outside of about 8 channels on the TV had a surcharge attached. Even music.

“The Hilton is on the higher side, as hotels go. It has been remodeled and all but the only real difference between it and the Holiday Inn down the street was the service of the staff.”
