  • Rooms are beautiful and right in uptown, very convenient.
  • Inadequate room service, expensive parking, nickel and dime you.

“We stayed at the Hilton Center City for our first stay. We stay uptown for a night many times as a treat for our son. Of all the upscale hotels in Charlotte this is by far the worst. They charged us more for parking in a public lot then I could have paid if I parked on my own. There are no vending machines on the room floors, the room service menu was very limited. Two sandwiches and a dinner salad was over 60 dollars. They charged for everything including internet which is not the norm for uptown Charlotte. It was so bad. We will not stay at this hotel again.”

  • I saw empty soda cans and food in hallways.

“Hilton Center City is a very nice hotel. I will not say it is 4 star materials though after staying at the Intercontinental in Georgia. The staff was very helpful even though we had to wait some time to get our radio changed out because of defective sound system and they said it could only be done by an engineer. We were put in a one bed room even though I requested double beds before we first got there but as soon as this was explained someone from guest services came up and moved us. I will say that I was disappointed to see empty cans and food strewn around the premises. Something I wouldn't expect a four star to let is seen.”

  • Lack of amenities-internet, exercise facility, pool/Jacuzzi- expensive parking, price of hotel food.

“Overall, my wife and I were very pleased with the hotel. We were in town looking for a place to live for an upcoming move. The hotel was very clean, in walking distance to all of Uptown and had a light rail station on property. They do not have any workout facilities or pool (YMCA is next door and available at a nominal daily fee). Also, they do not include internet access. It is an additional $10 per day. As expected from a city hotel, parking is limited and expensive and the breakfast buffet was $17.however, it was well stocked and fresh.”

  • Screaming baby next door. We left a newborn at home to come to a hotel. Ironic we woke up next to one.

  • Parking fees were outrageous for any savings on the room.

  • The rooms were tastefully appointed.
  • They charged for the use of the gym facilities.

“The hotel was nice, although there was construction going on outside and on our floor. The hotel was surrounded by business buildings and not much nightlife close by, however, the staff was very nice as was the hotel. It is more suited for the business traveler, than the couple looking for a romantic weekend getaway-as we were.”

  • Nice room, nice bed, nice TV, nice bathroom.
  • Parking desk security is severely lacking. Roaming gangs late Friday night at garage entry. No guards in sight.

  • I don't like paying for parking! Thin walls.

“If you're paying good $$ to stay somewhere, parking should be provided. It's $18 a night, $25 for valet parking! Walls are also paper thin - woke up by some loud kids in the hallway at 7:00, I left my own kids with a babysitter for peace! Other than that it was a wonderful experience.”

“I did not sleep well in this hotel. The beds are soft mattresses that sink when you lay on them. With two people this is a tragedy. They were sold out of king size beds, so my husband and I had to sleep on a double bed while our daughter slept on the other double bed. I would not ever choose to stay at this hotel again.”

  • They charged $12 to use the pool/hot tub at the YMCA (a day).

“The hotel is in a nice and safe location by many restaurants. On the down side, everything is an extra charge. To even place a local call to find out about the pool at the YMCA (located in the building) they charged us $1. It cost $12 a day if you want to work out or use the pool/hot tub at the YMCA. Parking was also $18 a day. It was a nice hotel but it seemed like, for the price, some extras should be in the price. If you don't want to work out or don't mind spending the extra money on top of the price of the hotel then this hotel is very nice!”

  • Excellent service, well designed and appointed for a Hilton. This was a very different experience than what I expected.
  • Not given correct directions - that resulted in a 2 hour delay in returning to the hotel on a not muggy Saturday evening.

  • Stand-offish front desk clerks, not helpful to tourists.

“Beautiful hotel. I think that it should mention to potential guests that there are current hotel renovations taking place. Some hotel exits/entrances will not be used during their stay. Other than that it's a beautiful hotel and the front desk clerks should be trained on tourists attractions to some degree. Suggestions to guests would be nice with a friendly personality.”

“I strongly recommend that they update late menu or staff accordingly. I held off eating until late evening expecting to get a full meal as indicated by the menu and all I was able to obtain was a cold sandwich. No other options existed. Went to bed hungry.”

  • The hotel Staff was the best of all the stay.
  • Every little thing outside of about 8 channels on the TV had a surcharge attached. Even music.

“The Hilton is on the higher side, as hotels go. It has been remodeled and all but the only real difference between it and the Holiday Inn down the street was the service of the staff.”

  • Dirty room, stained dirty carpet, $10 a day for internet, hair on bathroom floor, moldy shower, doors in disrepair.

“I would not stay here again. This hotel is in bad disrepair and there were obvious cleanliness issues with the room. The hotel is under remodeling in main areas and quite noisy. The hotel staff was helpful and attentive although I was appalled that this was considered a 4 star establishment. I have stayed in nicer 2.5 star hotels that were much cleaner.”

  • In walking distance so Bobcat Arena and other attractions.
  • A/C was not working when we arrived but it was repaired the next day.

“Very nice hotel, great location in downtown Charlotte. Came to town for a concert at Bobcat/Time Warner Arena. We were able to walk to the stadium along the sidewalk to the city's new train system. It took less than 10 mins to get there! Spacious rooms, comfy beds, nice bathrooms, and the flat screen was a big plus. Parking was a little weird (takes two elevators to get to your room) and expensive, but it wasn't so bad. Will definitely stay there again once the remainder of the renovations are completed.”
