• Location, right in the heart of Charlotte.
• Room was in poor condition, several addtl cost items which we felt should have been included, staff was not helpful.

“$10 per day charge to park in the hotels garage. No continental breakfast offered shower was stained and dirty shower head was rusted and about to fall off front desk was unapologetic.”

• The room, pool, hotel bar, and parking was easy.
• Swiping card for elevator.

“This was a great hotel right in the mix of everything in downtown Charlotte. The staff was very friendly and easy to work with. My cell phone died and they pulled out a box of left chargers and gave me one that fit my cell phone. It was very easy to park and leave at our convenience.”

• Extra $10 parking fee! Fraud alert!

“When we arrived to check in we were informed that it would cost $10 to park in the parking ramp. We asked if there was an area to park for free and were told that, we can not recommend that because the police can declare a no parking zone and have your car towed. This is fraud! The cost of staying should include the cost of parking. It is my opinion that this particular Mario did this in order to trick us into staying there. I will be calling the Marriott customer care line about this. Marriott should also know that we would have eaten at the hotel restaurant had it not been for the parking charge. Instead we spent $50 elsewhere.”

• It was secure and very close to Fuel pizza and night life.
• the parking situation was a bit odd, not convenient for check in.

“It was just right for what we needed. We enjoyed the pool, although it was not a large pool. We did not check out the restaurant or hot tub area, but the lobby was very nice looking. Plan to pay 10.00 to park and keep your room key to exit the garage or you'll have to pay 2.00 to get the gate open.”

• Location great! Rooms very nice!
• Security tried to keep family reunion quiet and contained, but was impossible with very rude guests at 3:00 in the morning!

“Exceptional for a 2 1/2 star hotel. Staff treated us like we were staying at a 5 star hotel! Great location with many restaurants within 1-2 blocks! Rooms very nicely decorated and exceptionally clean!! Security was good, except for the impossible tasks of keeping a family union quiet and contained. Very rude guests yelling in hallway at 3:00 a.m.!”

• Getting from the parking garage to the room was a maze of elevators.

“Very nice hotel right in the heart of uptown charlotte. The lobby is located at ground level and is attractive and spacious. The staff was helpful and pleasant at all times. Coffee was available 24/7 directly in front of the main elevators, which was nice when I needed a cup on the way out at non-breakfast hours. The room was well appointed and cleans, with plenty of room to spread out and make ourselves comfortable. The only bad thing I have to say about this hotel is that to get to your room from the parking garage (which took up the 2nd through 6th floors), you had to get in an elevator to go to the 1st floor, then get out, cross the lobby and get in *another* elevator to go up past the parking levels to the floors with the guest rooms. That was kind of a pain in the rear. Otherwise, we were extremely happy with our stay.”

• Bathrooms were small but very attractive.
• Did not like paying extra for parking. Did not like paying extra (50 person) for breakfast buffet.

“We passed on the embassy suites, where the rest of our group was staying, in order to be closer to the convention center where my children were tending a cheerleading competition. The extras such as parking and the buffet caused us to have to pay about 30% more than the rest of the group that stayed at embassy suites, where they didn't have to pay for parking and breakfast, made to order, was complementary. Unless traveling for business, I would not choose this hotel again.”

• The hotel staff gave me a curtsey call when I checked in to make sure everything was fine.
• Parking not the greatest exits or pay.

“This hotel is beautifully set in a very nice place in the city. Easy to access and great view! The inside is very modern and has great use of space. Hotel staff very appealing and easy to work with. Loved it 10 times over!”

• The pool deck is about ten stories up with a decent view. Indoor Jacuzzi, spacious rooms, great location.
• The courtyard view was rather dull, and parking was expensive.

“A great value for downtown charlotte. Within walking distance of most attractions. Super-friendly staff. The room was very spacious and clean. Plenty of pillows and towels. The shower had good water pressure and an innovative shower curtain that gives one plenty of room. "Per vehicle" parking was a bit expensive, but that is to be expected with a hotel located downtown.”

• Nice pool area, convenient location, reasonable parking fees.
• Hotel evacuation at 4am (faulty sprinkler system). Need hotel room key to get out !

“Typically, by habit, I leave my hotel room key cards in the room or turn them in at the front desk. At the hotel garage, you need the room keys to exit on the day of your departure. I have never heard of or seen this before. The speaker box at the exit wasn't working for assistance either. This was very frustrating. And the hotel was evacuated at 4am with very little organization or explanation of what was going on.”

“Location is in downtown Charlotte, so is good for business travelers, but also good for travelers wanting to be downtown for events, such as 4th of July. Parking in their deck is convenient, but you have to pay. Rooms are well kept and clean.”

• Drink machines broken on 2 floors. Breakfast definitely not worth $10.00

“Very neat location and setup. Rooms very clean, maintenance staff were very courteous. Receptionists were not as cordial, not ugly, but just not very friendly as I am used to. The only downside to the location is that all the surrounding shops and many restaurants close on Friday afternoon and are not open on Saturday. If there had been a free breakfast this would have been close to a perfect stay.”

• This hotel is in a great location.
• They put me in a smoking room without asking my preference; I couldn't get anyone to answer when I called the front desk for express checkout.

“This hotel is in a great location and was much better than I expected. The bathroom was impeccably clean and the room was also nice and neat. The staff were very friendly, but I encountered a few problems--like being put in a smoking room without being asked, and when they were shorthanded when I called to do the express checkout. Still, it's a great value and I'd recommend it.”

• The hotel was great. I had to keep calling because I got lost, but they gave me directions and did not mind. They had a wonderful affordable breakfast.
• There is nothing that I could complain about. The hotel and its staff were great.

“Every thing in the hotel was great. It was very clean, and quiet. The breakfast was wonderful. We had to park in a parking garage, but it was convenient, I would give the hotel an over all A++.”

• I did not like the parking garage at night. I felt afraid.

“The staff was very helpful and friendly. I had not been told of the extra $10.00 per day parking and the staff took care of it for me. While the room information packet invited guests for breakfast in the lobby, nothing was mentioned that there would be a charge for it. The breakfast was delicious but from the working in the room I expected the meal to be complimentary. The parking garage was convenient, but scary for a woman traveling alone.”

• Staff was rude, reservation was incorrect (type of room), poorly planned meal availability.

“Hotel staff wasn't friendly or helpful, tried to put 4 people in a room with one double bed. Said I registered for a king sized bed (although I entered 4 people in our party when making the reservation) and to end up getting a smoking room just to get two double beds. one person was running the counter the next morning for check out. they ran out of food for the breakfast buffet. poor planning-- the event we attended was called "Women of Faith" at the charlotte coliseum (the old one near tyvola rd) and many of us booked our rooms months in advance. so they had time to plan (order food, arrange the correct room assignments). I was extremely disappointed.”

• Pillows way too soft and need warning of cost for long distance calls. $7.20 for a 3 minutes call is ridicules.
