• The comedy club was excellent.
• The rooms were aweful, not a family friendly hotel.

“We had a terrible time. Our air conditioner didn't work, had to move to another room, was much smaller. The hotel maids didn't give us any new towels, didn't clean room other than to empty the trash. The security guard is clueless on how to keep people safe in certain situations.”

• It's very calm and cozy off season which is a gr8 thing if ur visiting with ur partner or kids and family

“We went to Daytona for our anniversary. Picked this hotel for the price. Bad idea! It was dirty and run down. Had to switch rooms twice. Our room smelled bad. You could tell it had been cleaned, but when something is that old. Didn't want to take off our shoes to walk around on the carpet. Bed linens and towels poor. Room left a lot to be desired. Staff was the best part of this hotel. Friendly and very helpful. Even though the staff was nice, that would not be enough for me to ever go back there or recommend this place to others!”

• Clean and beautiful area. Close to airport.

“Room was very clean and comfortable. Lots of trees and nice secluded area. Very quick drive to airport. Ordered food from pizza restaurant advertised in room and the food was affordable and good.”

• The staff are great.
• The door lock/window lock needs repair (they are kind of secure, but needs replacement) and they place the dumpsters right under our balconies.

“I would never recomend staying here, ever! The rooms were dirty, the staff was not very helpful, and scurity chased everyone from the outdoor area, and was very rude. Do not waste your money here, there are allot nicer hotels in the area I have stayed at than this run down hotel.”

• Beach Access.
• Outside rooms, Also they charge for parking.

“We have stayed at this hotel before about 4 years ago. Quality has definitely gone downhill. There is a $5 parking charge per day and a $1.50 in-room safe charge per day (which can be taken off at the end if you didn't use it, but they don't offer, you have to ask). The plus side is it has a great location right on the beach, Not too busy, and a nice pool and hot tub. Overall for being right on Daytona Beach it is a good value, but don't expect too much.”

• The hotel was on the beach with a lifeguard on duty.
• Cleanliness of lack there of.

“We had a beachfront view which was spectacular. There was a lifeguard on duty during day time hours. The hotel was within walking distance of several stores, restaurants, etc. The room also had a full size refrigerator which was a surprise. However, the room wasn't very clean.”

• They have truck parking.
• The balcony could be more private.

“Excellent stay. We drive a tractor trailer (semi) and anywhere that has truck parking is a great plus to us. Great room and beautiful view.”

• Location was ideal to a number of nice restaurants and amusements.
• The hotel was dirty and the fixtures and carpet were in dire need of repair and upgrading.

“The hotel needed many repairs and fixtures and appliances needed repair and or replacement. The overall cleanliness of the facilities was horrible. Carpet was badly worn and needing replacement and walls were in need of painting.”

• Sliding glass door to balcony overlooking ocean didn't work.

“This hotel is showing some age, but it was fabulous for the price. And hey, it's right on the beach. So it's going to show some wear from the salt air and constant sand being brought in. I would've liked the sliding glass door to work though.”

“The La Playa hotel is a good choice if you're sole desire is to spend time at the beach. If you're looking to do things at the boardwalk, you'll likely want to find a closer hotel. The boardwalk is not within walking distance from the La Playa hotel.”

• The people were friendly and my wife loved it.
• I really don't have any complaints.

“I found it to be secure friendly clean. Location was excellent will plan again for October fest they even have a place to park my Harley trailer. I thought that the 23.00 for breakfast was a bit steep.”

• I loved the pool and the view from the room. The location was great.
• The indoor pool was not open late enough.

“This hotel is great for the family traveler. You are close enough to the strip that you can drive to the shops, but far enough away that you want hear all the bars at night. You have a outdoor pool and an indoor pool, with activities for the children to due free up some of your time.”

• The tike bar was fun and we definitely had a great time with the bartender Beth.
• Aside from Beth the bartender, all other staff were very rude and unhelpful, I would definitely not recommend this hotel to other travelers.

“The rooms were unimpressive, the staff was even worse (aside from Beth the bartender), the location was nice, but it's hard not to be due to the fact the beach is everywhere. Do yourself a favor and avoid this hotel.”

• I liked the staff mainly Ray Sinclair was very friendly and supportive. The view from our hotel balcony was beautiful. The shopping mall was a plus.
• Could use a little updated carpeting.

“Does anyone read these? I was there in 2004 and sent a letter afterward and never received a reply. It was without a doubt the most disgusting hotel rooms we've ever had. Mold, dirt, stained sheets, moldy curtains, bugs, no light bulbs in some lamps, bathrooms a mess. Can't believe anyone would stay in that hotel. Restaurant had no air conditioning said it would be a month before it would be repaired. We had a couple with us who had been in a car accident and were still recovering or we would have moved on and not stayed even the one night. Really a disgusting hotel!”

• The location was wonderful. My oldest daughter enjoyed the pool and the beach.
• The curtains in the room were stained. The decor could be a little more updated.

• Family friendly. Fairly clean. Nice pool. Great ocean views.
• "Kitchen" was very small but worked. Location was too far to walk to shops/ clubs.

“Great little place. Wasn't very crowded for spring break. Very family friendly with a clean pool and direct beach access. Pool deck bingo daily with a DJ playing classic top 40's on the weekends. Too far from clubs and shopping center to walk but close enough for cheap cab ride. Loved the Publics grocery store directly across the street. Felt very safe (even stumbling home at 3 am alone).”

• The lifeguard at the pool was very helpful in finding things in area.
• Made service was bad, ran out of towels, toilet paper, sometimes rooms were not cleaned.

“Was not worth the money, they had hidden costs for parking, $5.00 per day, also $11.45 for some other upgrade not told about. Not happy.”

• A house keeper named Elizabeth who cleaned my room was very kind.
• Not enough dishes, rude activities person.

“The room was not ready when I arrived at 12 pm, my paper said be there at 3 pm. I had to wait 4 hours to even check in. There was not an adequate amount of dishes to stay a week, even asking I did not get them I had to buy. Activities lady was very rude and disrespectful to me on Easter in front of my twin 2 yr old girls. I would not recommend to anyone who is family based.”

“This is the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed at. It smelled so bad that I couldn't sleep and ended up checking out after 2 nights although I had payed for 4 and stayed somewhere else (and I was not refunded). I expected a 3 star, average class hotel and I got spiders running around the bathroom, dirty and dead bugs in every corner, hair all over the sheets. The balconies are all attached to each other so for safety purposes you can't leave the door open and man, was this place SMELLY. The bathtub was so dirty that although it was hot and I was on the beach, I didn't shower the whole time I was there. I wouldn't even give this hotel 1 star.”

“Our overall experience at the LaPlaya was excellent. The location and parking were great (you pay 5.00 per day for parking the security is well worth it) The staff was always very attentive to our needs. We will stay here again! The only con is the hotel really needs to be renovated.”

“I liked that the hotel have a kitchen, it helped save money on eating out. However the hotel property, I dont know if it was just my room but appeared old. Door lock messed up, sliding door didnt slide, and ceiling was peeling. The staff was slow and un helpful, they told me they had no hot tub and I later found out they had 2 outdoor and 1 indoor hot tub! Do they not know where they work?”

• I like the pool/room location. We get and inside pool for rainy days and wife a plus.
• For handicapped people they don't offer help getting a car full of luggage to the room.

“The La Playa is convenient to shopping and food within very close walking distance, loads of undercover parking to prevent getting hit by bad weather, and the pool and pool bar area is lovely as well as the, little known about, heated inside pool which is very nice and slightly used. If you have work to keep up with or just love your computer, having the wife spot in your room is great. This hotel with the full kitchen offers all the comforts of home should you want to eat in your room after a long day of sunning. This is my family's favorite place to stay in the Daytona Beach area and for the price I'll go along with their choice!”

“This place is a real dump. After we checked in and they moved us to three different rooms and each one was horrible we left. I think you should never book anyone in this hotel. This should be a 1 star. We would not stay here for free. Sent you an email the night we left and have not heard from anyone.”

• The room was dated with old mattresses, pillows and furniture. The bathroom tile was in need of repair.

• Property is dirty, smelly, badly managed. Not a 3Star property, not comparable to Marriott etc.

“This beach-front property is badly in need of a make-over. Rooms are dirty and smelly, all fixtures are rusty, and carpet shows concrete floor thru holes, light fixtures all have dead bugs in them. Do not try to stay at LaPlaya on a weekend; drunken young guests play drinking games at 2AM, walls no noise barrier. It surely isn't on a comparable level to 3-star rated Marriott/Doubletree etc. properties. Cannot recommend this hotel.”
