• The location was wonderful. My oldest daughter enjoyed the pool and the beach.
• The curtains in the room were stained. The decor could be a little more updated.

• Family friendly. Fairly clean. Nice pool. Great ocean views.
• "Kitchen" was very small but worked. Location was too far to walk to shops/ clubs.

“Great little place. Wasn't very crowded for spring break. Very family friendly with a clean pool and direct beach access. Pool deck bingo daily with a DJ playing classic top 40's on the weekends. Too far from clubs and shopping center to walk but close enough for cheap cab ride. Loved the Publics grocery store directly across the street. Felt very safe (even stumbling home at 3 am alone).”

• The lifeguard at the pool was very helpful in finding things in area.
• Made service was bad, ran out of towels, toilet paper, sometimes rooms were not cleaned.

“Was not worth the money, they had hidden costs for parking, $5.00 per day, also $11.45 for some other upgrade not told about. Not happy.”

• A house keeper named Elizabeth who cleaned my room was very kind.
• Not enough dishes, rude activities person.

“The room was not ready when I arrived at 12 pm, my paper said be there at 3 pm. I had to wait 4 hours to even check in. There was not an adequate amount of dishes to stay a week, even asking I did not get them I had to buy. Activities lady was very rude and disrespectful to me on Easter in front of my twin 2 yr old girls. I would not recommend to anyone who is family based.”

“This is the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed at. It smelled so bad that I couldn't sleep and ended up checking out after 2 nights although I had payed for 4 and stayed somewhere else (and I was not refunded). I expected a 3 star, average class hotel and I got spiders running around the bathroom, dirty and dead bugs in every corner, hair all over the sheets. The balconies are all attached to each other so for safety purposes you can't leave the door open and man, was this place SMELLY. The bathtub was so dirty that although it was hot and I was on the beach, I didn't shower the whole time I was there. I wouldn't even give this hotel 1 star.”

“Our overall experience at the LaPlaya was excellent. The location and parking were great (you pay 5.00 per day for parking the security is well worth it) The staff was always very attentive to our needs. We will stay here again! The only con is the hotel really needs to be renovated.”

• Not quiet enough on the 9th floor could here noises all night.

“I liked that the hotel have a kitchen, it helped save money on eating out. However the hotel property, I dont know if it was just my room but appeared old. Door lock messed up, sliding door didnt slide, and ceiling was peeling. The staff was slow and un helpful, they told me they had no hot tub and I later found out they had 2 outdoor and 1 indoor hot tub! Do they not know where they work?”

• I like the pool/room location. We get and inside pool for rainy days and wife a plus.
• For handicapped people they don't offer help getting a car full of luggage to the room.

“The La Playa is convenient to shopping and food within very close walking distance, loads of undercover parking to prevent getting hit by bad weather, and the pool and pool bar area is lovely as well as the, little known about, heated inside pool which is very nice and slightly used. If you have work to keep up with or just love your computer, having the wife spot in your room is great. This hotel with the full kitchen offers all the comforts of home should you want to eat in your room after a long day of sunning. This is my family's favorite place to stay in the Daytona Beach area and for the price I'll go along with their choice!”

“This place is a real dump. After we checked in and they moved us to three different rooms and each one was horrible we left. I think you should never book anyone in this hotel. This should be a 1 star. We would not stay here for free. Sent you an email the night we left and have not heard from anyone.”

• Property is dirty, smelly, badly managed. Not a 3Star property, not comparable to Marriott etc.

“This beach-front property is badly in need of a make-over. Rooms are dirty and smelly, all fixtures are rusty, and carpet shows concrete floor thru holes, light fixtures all have dead bugs in them. Do not try to stay at LaPlaya on a weekend; drunken young guests play drinking games at 2AM, walls no noise barrier. It surely isn't on a comparable level to 3-star rated Marriott/Doubletree etc. properties. Cannot recommend this hotel.”

“Oceanfront Hotel was fine moderately clean, great location, easy parking - mall with everything across the street. Adequate breakfast buffet. Lounge and comedy show on weekends. Kitchen (full) in some rooms and kitchenette in others was awesome for people staying longer or on budget. Would definitely go back for budget conscious, mainly golf vacation.”

• Many doors missing locks.

“Badly lit walk ways, dingy rooms, poor quality beds and coverings. Carpets desperately need replacement or at least cleaning. Many of the door locks on my floor appeared to be held in by duct tape. I wouldn't recommend this hotel unless its for teenagers who want to crash and spend time on the beach.”

• They list FREE parking and breakfast neither are true!

“The down sides were: old and stained carpeting in room, poor cable connection throughout hotel (TV had a lot of channels that didn't come in), tried to charge me parking during check-out and were rude when told Parking was listed on their site as Free! Also tried to tell them about their site offering free breakfast (when it's 7.95 for the only option breakfast buffet). Over all the stay was pleasant, but much need for improvement to hold a 3-STAR rating.”

• Hotel management didn't seem to care about things that weren't acceptable.

“I would not recommend this hotel. Our heater broke, the handle to the shower came off in my hand, the refrigerator didn't work, and the toilet didn't flush. We told management, but they didn't do anything to fix it.”

• I liked the location on the beach and ocean view from room.
• The lights and doors did not work or lock. Kitchen area not clean.

“The location of this hotel is excellent and the pool and spa facilities were nice for the exception of one spa not working. The view and access of the beach was nice. The rooms need renovation. Stains on the carpet and the kitchen is dingy. The door into the room did not lock correctly and the light in the bathroom was out. The beds are extremely small and uncomfortable. If easy access to the ocean and views are priority this hotel may be ok. If comfort and cleanliness are priority I would not recommend this hotel.”

“This hotel was one of the worst places I have ever stayed. I was booked there for a business trip and was supposed to be there 5 nights. After less than a day in this dump my company moved me to a much better hotel. The only positive about this place is the ocean view. The rooms are dumps - walked in to stains all over the carpet, the lock to the door leading to the patio was so rusted I ripped my fingernail off prying it open. The comforter had cigarette burns in it. The shower curtain rod in the bathroom was gross. When I went to use the restroom and get toilet paper the toilet paper holder fell off. They charge 5$ a day for parking (and I was there in the dead season). I have been in Motel 6's that look like 5 star hotels compared to this place. This is the kind of hotel I would only recommend to 6 college students crammed in one room in town for Spring Break who are drunk the whole time and only use the room to shower and pass out.”

• Beach, good location, near family, warm weather and can see the sunrise from hotel room.
• The hotel was dirty, dusty; the floor was as dirty as was the carpet that we had socks that had to be thrown away after wearing them in the room only.

“Housekeeping needs to be better; a better place to get three meals a day is needed. We did use the breakfast area and was delighted with the food and the cook. Being close to the beach to hear the waves was nice, we love the sunrise. There were things that needed to be cleaned up around the grounds, like boards and things.”

“This hotel was not a 3 star! The rooms were old and dirty. The only thing was that we were oceanfront but we could have gotten that from 2 dozen other hotels. The staff was rude and not helpful. We asked for directions to a movie theatre on Christmas and they didn't know of one! The carpet had huge, gross stains. The beds were super uncomfortable. We only paid $40 a night for this hotel and that was too much. Parking is $5 a day! No continental breakfast. And be careful because they will charge you $1.50 a day for a safe! You have to go down to check out to request that it does not get charged to your charge card!”

“Im overall happy with the hotel, though I expected something nicer. The staff was friendly, though when the clerk offered me an upgrade he misses stated the cost. The room was very dated. The internet would not work, and there was no support. The location was great, and the common areas of the hotel met my expectations. I would not however recommend the restaurant. I give the hotel 2 stars.”

• It is a very tired place and extra for parking and "ocean view vs ocean front is a con.

“It needs a major overall and a more inclusive price (extra for parking is ridiculous! It is a very rare person that doesn't have a car.) Honesty instead of misleading info re ocean view would also give it credibility. But, most of all it needs that serious overall to be considered a 3 or better star hotel. Just because it is on the ocean should not give it 3 star upscale statuses!”

• The room had comfortable beds that allowed a good nights rest.
• The condition of the room was not great except carpet coming off the wall appliances banged up. Door didn't shut and lock properly.

“I think this hotel lobby appearance was nice and clean and the room was clean even though I did share it with a cockroach and that is somewhat typical in Florida. When you go into a room and the carpet is falling away from the wall and the appliances look beat up it doesn't feel homey.”

• The room was filthy, and wd received no service, towels etc. Unless we called.

“The first room we were given had doors (entry and balcony) that did to close properly, leaving gaps and openings around them. The next room appeared as if it had not been cleaned. There was no maid service in the three days of our stay unless we called, and twice the desk informed us that the maids left at 3:00 pm (our daily conferences end each day after 5:00 pm). The telephone in the room did not work. If we had been given the room at no charge, it would still have a disaster, one of which I shall never repeat. Also it was not in the cost shown of the room, that they charge an additional $5.00 each day for parking.”

“Like many hotels in Daytona, this one has simply not been kept up. Paint was peeling walls were coming apart. There were dead bugs in the bathroom and kitchen. There were only two ceramic cups in the kitchen none of the usual plastic cups to use. It is, however, right on the ocean, the view was wonderful and staff was very accommodating. The outdoor pool was icy, but the indoor pool and hot tub were nice. Its just not a three star hotel.”

“Because "those rooms weren't cleaned yet, but if I would pay an additional $10 for an oceanfront room I could check in right away." it angered me, I had been traveling for more than 24 hours, but I refused to pay. Having nowhere else to go, I parked outside the hotel three hours until I could check in, and at no time did I see any maid service working on the rooms on the 5th floor where I eventually got my room. In addition, the female desk attendant that tried for the extra $10 was very rude about it.”

“This is a very old hotel/resort, it does appear they are trying to update, but its just an old hotel, thats dirty and quite depressing. Not what I would expect from a 3 star hotel at all. There was nothing great about the place.”
