“It was nice but they seemed to be doing some work on the premises and it disturbed my sleep in the morning.” Jan 18, 2008 by
Joann from Gainesville, FL
“I expected a 4 star hotel this was at least a 2 but no 4 star.” Jan 18, 2008 by
Phil from Ottawa, ON CA
“The rooms are a bit beaten up. But considering cost, beachfront location across from a shopping centre, and fully equipped kitchen - I think this hotel is very good value. Pool looked great.” Jan 16, 2008 by
Shri from Shrewsbury, MA
“Location is good but the hotel needs serious renovation.” Jan 12, 2008 by
Gene from Charlotte, NC
“Badly lit walk ways, dingy rooms, poor quality beds and coverings. Carpets desperately need replacement or at least cleaning. Many of the door locks on my floor appeared to be held in by duct tape. I wouldn't recommend this hotel unless its for teenagers who want to crash and spend time on the beach.” Jan 9, 2008 by
Anthony from Port Orange, FL
“The down sides were: old and stained carpeting in room, poor cable connection throughout hotel (TV had a lot of channels that didn't come in), tried to charge me parking during check-out and were rude when told Parking was listed on their site as Free! Also tried to tell them about their site offering free breakfast (when it's 7.95 for the only option breakfast buffet). Over all the stay was pleasant, but much need for improvement to hold a 3-STAR rating.” Jan 8, 2008 by
Bob from Seymour, IN
“Right on the beach at the more quiet north end, very nice location, friendly staff and nice amenities, would stay here again.” Jan 8, 2008 by
Karen from Tampa, FL
“I would not recommend this hotel. Our heater broke, the handle to the shower came off in my hand, the refrigerator didn't work, and the toilet didn't flush. We told management, but they didn't do anything to fix it.” Jan 8, 2008 by
Jennifer from Louisville, KY
“The location of this hotel is excellent and the pool and spa facilities were nice for the exception of one spa not working. The view and access of the beach was nice. The rooms need renovation. Stains on the carpet and the kitchen is dingy. The door into the room did not lock correctly and the light in the bathroom was out. The beds are extremely small and uncomfortable. If easy access to the ocean and views are priority this hotel may be ok. If comfort and cleanliness are priority I would not recommend this hotel.” Jan 7, 2008 by
Leigh from Austin
“This hotel was one of the worst places I have ever stayed. I was booked there for a business trip and was supposed to be there 5 nights. After less than a day in this dump my company moved me to a much better hotel. The only positive about this place is the ocean view. The rooms are dumps - walked in to stains all over the carpet, the lock to the door leading to the patio was so rusted I ripped my fingernail off prying it open. The comforter had cigarette burns in it. The shower curtain rod in the bathroom was gross. When I went to use the restroom and get toilet paper the toilet paper holder fell off. They charge 5$ a day for parking (and I was there in the dead season). I have been in Motel 6's that look like 5 star hotels compared to this place. This is the kind of hotel I would only recommend to 6 college students crammed in one room in town for Spring Break who are drunk the whole time and only use the room to shower and pass out.” Jan 2, 2008 by
Brenda from Blacklick, OH
“Housekeeping needs to be better; a better place to get three meals a day is needed. We did use the breakfast area and was delighted with the food and the cook. Being close to the beach to hear the waves was nice, we love the sunrise. There were things that needed to be cleaned up around the grounds, like boards and things.” Dec 30, 2007 by
Jason from Orlando, FL
“If you want cheap no frills right on the beach. Then this is your spot. Bring sanitizer.” Dec 29, 2007 by
Michelle from Springfield, IL
“This hotel was not a 3 star! The rooms were old and dirty. The only thing was that we were oceanfront but we could have gotten that from 2 dozen other hotels. The staff was rude and not helpful. We asked for directions to a movie theatre on Christmas and they didn't know of one! The carpet had huge, gross stains. The beds were super uncomfortable. We only paid $40 a night for this hotel and that was too much. Parking is $5 a day! No continental breakfast. And be careful because they will charge you $1.50 a day for a safe! You have to go down to check out to request that it does not get charged to your charge card!” Dec 28, 2007 by
Lionel from Ypsilanti, MI
“This hotel was horrible. The sheets felt wet, the carpet had severe stains. I could continue on. This hotel was horrible.” Dec 22, 2007 by
James from Locust Grove, GA
“Off season, great deals, wanted to charge for parking while it was wide open. "Penthouse" bar did not advertise, but not family friendly, nor was it even open in off season. Great beach location. Great price, due to off season. Worthwhile.” Dec 20, 2007 by
Jack from Huntingtown, MD
“Not close to an upscale hotel. Place needs a lot of work. They did give me an ocean front room. That was nice.” Dec 13, 2007 by
Pete from Dunnellon, FL
“Im overall happy with the hotel, though I expected something nicer. The staff was friendly, though when the clerk offered me an upgrade he misses stated the cost. The room was very dated. The internet would not work, and there was no support. The location was great, and the common areas of the hotel met my expectations. I would not however recommend the restaurant. I give the hotel 2 stars.” Dec 11, 2007 by
Michael from Export, PA
“We thought it was okay because we wanted to be on the ocean. But there is room for improvement of the facilities.” Dec 10, 2007 by
Chris from Bracebridge, ON CA
“It needs a major overall and a more inclusive price (extra for parking is ridiculous! It is a very rare person that doesn't have a car.) Honesty instead of misleading info re ocean view would also give it credibility. But, most of all it needs that serious overall to be considered a 3 or better star hotel. Just because it is on the ocean should not give it 3 star upscale statuses!” Dec 2, 2007 by
Paula T. from North Port, FL
“I think this hotel lobby appearance was nice and clean and the room was clean even though I did share it with a cockroach and that is somewhat typical in Florida. When you go into a room and the carpet is falling away from the wall and the appliances look beat up it doesn't feel homey.” Nov 23, 2007 by
James from Simpsonville, SC
“This hotel is the worst hotel Ive ever stayed at. The rooms are old and rundown. You can read a newspaper through the sheets there so thin. Plus the beds all had hairs in them especially all over the pillows, quit gross! This is a 1 star hotel at best.” Nov 22, 2007 by
Ron from Camdenton, MO
“Great location, ocean view and covered parking. The staff was friendly and helpful. But needs updating new paint and new carpet.” Nov 19, 2007 by
John from Obrien, FL
“The first room we were given had doors (entry and balcony) that did to close properly, leaving gaps and openings around them. The next room appeared as if it had not been cleaned. There was no maid service in the three days of our stay unless we called, and twice the desk informed us that the maids left at 3:00 pm (our daily conferences end each day after 5:00 pm). The telephone in the room did not work. If we had been given the room at no charge, it would still have a disaster, one of which I shall never repeat. Also it was not in the cost shown of the room, that they charge an additional $5.00 each day for parking.” Nov 18, 2007 by
Colleen from Sandy, UT
“Like many hotels in Daytona, this one has simply not been kept up. Paint was peeling walls were coming apart. There were dead bugs in the bathroom and kitchen. There were only two ceramic cups in the kitchen none of the usual plastic cups to use. It is, however, right on the ocean, the view was wonderful and staff was very accommodating. The outdoor pool was icy, but the indoor pool and hot tub were nice. Its just not a three star hotel.” Nov 15, 2007 by
Miles from Wendover, NV
“Because "those rooms weren't cleaned yet, but if I would pay an additional $10 for an oceanfront room I could check in right away." it angered me, I had been traveling for more than 24 hours, but I refused to pay. Having nowhere else to go, I parked outside the hotel three hours until I could check in, and at no time did I see any maid service working on the rooms on the 5th floor where I eventually got my room. In addition, the female desk attendant that tried for the extra $10 was very rude about it.” Nov 13, 2007 by
Kelli from Bedford, OH
“This is a very old hotel/resort, it does appear they are trying to update, but its just an old hotel, thats dirty and quite depressing. Not what I would expect from a 3 star hotel at all. There was nothing great about the place.” Nov 12, 2007 by
Geoff from Las Vegas, NV
“Grossly overstated with 3 star rating. Huge disappointment.” Nov 12, 2007 by
Gary from Jackson, KY
“Great place for the price.” Nov 10, 2007 by
Chris from Fort Collins, CO
“Poor upkeep, broken locks, stained carpet. Just not a good hotel.” Nov 7, 2007 by
Vincent from Bradenton, FL
“The worst experience I have had with a hotel ever! The room was dirty, in need of remodel, and disgusting.” Nov 5, 2007 by
Robert R. from Largo, FL
“It is an older property that they are renovating. The location is beautiful with the big retail center with lots of amenities right across the street. The parking fee should be noted before arriving to find out about it. Coffee should be in the room every morning. The bathroom should be clean and mold free. The nicest part of the hotel is there is a gourmet Italian dining room right next door at the plaza hotel.” Nov 4, 2007 by
Arlena from West Frankfort, IL
“I would have enjoyed this more If they would have opened the outside Tiki Hut when possible.” Nov 2, 2007 by
Susan from Radnor, OH
“Pool, hot tub, nice location for beach and shopping. Room was in need of repair did come with refrigerator (full size), stove, microwave and sink.” Nov 1, 2007 by
Donald from Memphis, IN
“To be rated a three star hotel; it lacked a lot to be desired. The rooms were not as good as they were let on to believe. House cleaning was not done very well.” Nov 1, 2007 by
Greg from Beaufort, NC
“A very bad place to send your guest, you my lost me from working with you.” Oct 31, 2007 by
Sandy from Largo, FL
“For the money, this hotel did not stand up to the star rating. The guest rooms were not updated. The bedding for the beds looked like it could have been 20 years old. The carpets were dirty, so much so that we could not walk across the floor with shoes off. Even after we had paid the extended stay fee the day we checked in the front desk called to ask if we were checking out and then at noon our room key did not work. All in all, this was not a 3 star hotel.” Oct 30, 2007 by
Andrew from Keyser, WV
“The hotel was clean and the facilities were adequate for an off-season visit.” Oct 30, 2007 by
Pam from New Port Richey, FL
“I called the hotel on Thursday morning to confirm the reservation. To begin with, when the phone was picked up the call immediately went on hold with no verbal greeting. After hanging on hold for over four minutes, a curt young woman answered. I gave my name and advised that I was confirming my reservation and requesting a non smoking accessible room. I was told that she couldn't find my reservation and advised that she didn't have time to deal with it and suggested that I call central number. I called the number she gave and the phone was immediately answered by a very friendly young women who appeared distressed that I had been 'pushed off' by the hotel. The young woman had no difficulty confirming my reservation and was able to accommodate my request for a non smoking accessible room. We arrived at Laplaya at 6:30 pm and were advised that the room was not ready even though check in is 4:00 pm. Heather at the desk could obtain a clear answer from housekeeping as to if the room was ready or not. So she personally went down to check. Upon her return to the desk, she advised that the room was not ready but if I could wait 15 or twenty minutes the room would be available. I asked about a different room and was told 'its worse than the room I just checked'. I advised Heather that I found these arrangements unacceptable as I was in town for an evening event and needed to leave immediately in order not to be late. I asked if the desk was open all night so that when I returned I could pick up the keys. I was assured that there would be someone there. I then asked heather if the hotel would comp our breakfast for the inconvenience, which she did. I returned to Laplaya at approximately 1:00 am. There was no one in evidence at the desk. I called out several times and finally an elderly man came out of the back office rubbing his eyes and asked if he could help me. I gave my name and asked for my room key.” Oct 30, 2007 by
Gary from North Conway, NH
“I would never recommend this hotel. The front appearance and lobby is ok, but the room was more than tired. There were cigarette holes in the carpet, bedspreads, cabinets not on hinges, dirty sheets. The worst I have stayed in. Two stars is generous.” Oct 27, 2007 by
Ron from Tigard, OR
“Nice motel but would have preferred a room with at least a little view of something besides a busy street and a parking lot! When you rent a room on the ocean you expect to get a view of the ocean! I stayed there on a Sunday and Monday so there were a lot of empty rooms in the motel which had a better view then my room. I don't understand why they didn't put me in a room with a better view!” Oct 24, 2007 by
Ed from Tampa, FL
“I will never stay here again.” Oct 21, 2007 by
Pam from Lebanon, IN
“Overall we were very pleased. We stayed two nights with our 2 year old, we loved the baby pool. Had a great time would recommend.” Oct 18, 2007 by
Roy from Carmel, NY
“Hotel is in need of serious repair. Room was dirty (carpeting), balcony needs reinforcing and stove needs fixing, room door needs repairing. Lobby was nicely furnished.” Oct 16, 2007 by
Megan from Daytona Beach, FL
“Room was okay but paper towels were left on balcony with paint all over them. Closet door was broken and hanging. Adjoining door was not locked and there was no way for guests to lock them. Had to call maintenance. Huge gap under door and coffee pack for the morning was ripped open with stuff missing. The door to the room was all beat up. Very disappointed. They closed the inside pool early and the outside pool was to dark for my young children (lights were off because of the turtles).” Oct 15, 2007 by
Rick from Norcross, GA
“This hotel is bordering on Seedy. It is not well maintained. A/C did not work, dirty rooms and common areas - generally, run down!” Oct 13, 2007 by
Virginia from West Alexandria, OH
“The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The location was within walking distance of groceries, restaurants and shopping. The beds are very comfortable. The room had a stove, full size refrigerator and a small table w/ chairs as well as a good size television with cable. The swimming pool was extremely clean and refreshing.” Oct 10, 2007 by
Alan from Goodyear, AZ
“Probably great for a family.” Oct 8, 2007 by
Lorena P. from Bradenton, FL
“The hotel is horrible, is dirty. The rooms smell really bad. The carpet was flooded. The closet doors were hanging aside. The restroom is dirty. There were two homeless with a dog stepping down the elevator when I was going in. There were two guys peeing in the parking lot. I considered this hotel not safe and decided not to stay there.” Oct 7, 2007 by
Alan from Edgewater, FL
“Location. Rooms are in need of rehabilitation.” Oct 5, 2007 by
John from Ridgecrest, CA
“This hotel is a shabby building in need of refurbishing. They charge the residence $5.00 per night to park and $1.60 per night for the safe. I have no idea where they got their three star rating. My room had a water leak in the ceiling and the door had been badly repaired after it had been broken. The bathroom was small.” Hotel Representatives:
