• I liked the kitchen and office desk feature.
• The hotel is out of date and due for renovations.

“The staff was very friendly which made my stay more pleasant. The fact that the hotel's location is not visible from the main road is a disadvantage. In future would suggest design and location be the top two focuses.”

• Nice big rooms, very clean, bed very comfortable.
• A little out of the way from I-26, but not bad. A little hard to find.

• Attractive, quiet location, great room design, nice extras.
• Stairs.

“The Residence Inn of Columbia has the feeling of a resort hotel. It is set in a rural environment surrounded by tall trees. Graceful gazebos dot the landscape. The Inn is situated only 14 minutes from Columbia airport and though there are no convenience stores close by, they are no more than two miles down the road. The buildings are clean and attractive and the only negative is one targeted at guests with bad knees as the upper floor is only accessed through stairs.”

• Had to park a ways from our room once, parking great rest of the time.

• Breakfast staff was less than helpful, seemed overwhelmed. Food was scarce.

“Large suite with kitchen, pull out sofa and free breakfast. Breakfast staff was less than helpful, and seemed overwhelmed. They had pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, cereal, bagels & toast, maybe muffins too. They also had a waffle iron with a pitcher of batter so you could make your own. Drinks included milk, OJ and coffee which were not great. They had a hard time keeping enough food out for the demand and I never did get a piece of sausage. But hey, it beats spending $30 or $40 for the family to eat breakfast at a restaurant!”

• It was a wonderful place to spend time with my husband and 5 kids.
• The fact that I had to put my 4 teenage daughters upstairs was hard.

“The hotel was really relaxing. The breakfast was more than what we expected and it was great. The staff was awesome; they made sure all of our needs were met when we requested something. I have already recommended this hotel to my friends and family.”

• It was nice to have a big hot breakfast.
• The hotel was dated and dark.

“This hotel has been around for 15+ years and it shows. There has been minimal update to the hotel. The landscape looks tired. Our room was in the back of the hotel and felt very dark. It made us unsure of our safety. The walls were thin as we heard late night arrivals. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. That made the overall experience better.”

“The hotel was located close to the zoo and other hotels of similar caliber. It is like a home away from home. It is a room setup for business as well as for a leisure traveler. It was a great value for the price.”

“The hotel staff was superb. Check in took less than a minute. Great breakfast. Clock in room was still set one hour behind proper time due to time change from previous week. I set it properly, the next day; housekeeping came in and set it another hour ahead. No big deal, I just thought it was later than it really was the following morning. Bathroom door would not close. Simple fix and they were very receptive to my comments about it. Overall, I would stay at this hotel again without question; just wish they had more parking available close to the room. If you are out late, you will have to do some walking.”

• Filth. Ghetto area. Nasty smell in room. Deplorable.

“This hotel is not what I expected of a Marriott brand. It appears to be converted from an old set of condos or something and the room I was assigned was old and filthy. Stains on the wall, carpet, and bed. There was a pungent smell permeating the room. The bathroom had not been updated since the 80's. The door latch was broken. Because I had a ground room floor I did not feel safe, even as a man. The area was just very questionable at night. Lots of apartments in the area and the general activity that goes with that. I will not stay here again; I will not suggest that anybody else should stay here. For the 47 dollars I paid, I still feel cheated! It really was that disgusting!”

• A bit run down for a Marriott property.

“The hotel staff went out of their way to get me in early. However, for a Marriott property, the outside of this hotel is a bit run down. I would stay here again.”

• The location is good and the staff is fast and friendly. They are quick in everything they do and very helpful.
• The location is hard to find and the sign is hidden behind bushes.

• Great staff! Felt like home.
• Not a fan of Tempurpedic beds.

“The room was not brand-spanking new (showed a slight bit of age) but was very clean and comfortable. It almost felt like an apartment. Staff was fantastic. Highly recommended for any one that needs to be close to downtown or airport.”

• Wonderful breakfast buffets and evening receptions, a kind and friendly staff, extremely convenient to downtown Columbia, very quiet location
• Our room had previously housed smokers, I don't care for that, however, this is not a controllable variable
