“First stay on Oct. 10, 2009 was very pleasant. Next stay on Oct. 18, 2009 the room was very poor. The amount of mold growing in the bathtub and surrounding area was such that bathing was out of the question. The bed sheets were a surprise - about as thin as cheesecloth. How two rooms in one Inn could be so different is hard to understand. It will be a long time before I stay or recommend a Fairfield Inn.”

• The bed was extremely comfortable

“We stayed at this hotel twice in one week...the first room was exceptional....however, on our return trip the room we got had not had it's bed upgraded..not so nice. My review represents our first stay.”

• Furniture is a little dated

“I am from WV and you just can't beat the friendliness of the people there. They are helpful, courteous, and welcoming. The free internet and expanded continental breakfast are most likely new due to the competition hotels are experiencing and are good for the traveler.”

• Had trouble finding it, it was down a street and not easy to see although the sign was there.

• Fantastic breakfast buffet with full access to the hotel lounge, with TV and computer and refreshments 24 hours.
• Pool was not yet open but it was still cool out.

“Accommodation and service was triple A. The breakfast buffet was a very pleasant and welcomed surprise. Make your own waffles and toasted muffins, bagels or toast with all sorts of condiments including cream cheese was superb. A host of cold and hot cereals with varieties of fruit and beverages was wonderful. They even served hard boiled eggs! I'd stay there again without a doubt.”

• The complimentary breakfast was beyond belief! They have everything!
• One electrical outlet did not work, so some lights were out. Also, room was VERY hot when we arrived.

“Overall, I am very happy that we got this hotel. We were pleased with the stay. With the exception of the one outlet not working, I would add only one other negative.”

• The continental breakfast was inclusive of hot food options. The area was kept clean.
• Very busy location resulted in some run-down areas of carpeting and wall upkeep.

“This hotel is a short distance off the highway and clustered near several other options in dining and hotels. Very busy for a weekday. The room heater/AC was hard to moderate and with the force of the air made for a very dry atmosphere.

“The staff was wonderful and very helpful. The continental breakfast was way beyond our expectations with just about anything you would want for breakfast including a ham and egg muffin. Great! Fairfield Inn was now our favorite place to stay.”

• The check in staff was the greatest.
• Internet cut out a few times. Provider issue.

• Old coffee in coffee pot, mildew under shower soap dish.

“This hotel is very relaxing. Staff is customer service orientated and helpful at all times. Rooms are nicely decorated and most of all quiet even though your in a high traffic area. Breakfast bar outstanding, plenty of items to chose from and well kept during breakfast rush. Great place to check in to.”

• The room was large, provided extras and was very clean.
• There wasn't anything I didn't like other than the carpet felt dirty.

“I would stay at this hotel again. It is a better equipped hotel than some of the luxury hotels I have stayed in. The rooms are spacious so you don't feel crammed in. Like most hotels they provided little bottles of shampoo and conditioners plus a hair dryer. Their shampoo and conditioner wasn't the generic kind I'm afraid to wash my hair with though. Overall, it is a wonderful hotel.”

• Small outdoor pool, only one elevator, spa was `broken.

“This hotel is an average hotel. It has a small outdoor pool and a spa. The breakfast is above average with make your own waffles and a nice selection of everything else. The hotel is walking distance to two major restaurants and one fast food place. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are nice sized, with no frills. Free internet and free computer with printer in the lobby.”

• Odor, toilet did not flush, not that clean and charged pet fee.

“I really want to like this hotel. It is convenient to the route we need to travel. Last visit went very well, 6 months ago. It seems to have been run down a bit. The room wasn't as clean as last time and the toilet was broken in the first room. We had to move to another room. It's AC did not work well and didn't smell clean, either. On the good side, the breakfast is pretty nice. Another note is that they charge a pet fee.”

• Problems with adding an extra day at hotel.

“I really had a great time at this hotel and when I had decided to stay an extra day at the same rate the hotel said it wouldn't be a problem. When I had come back from shopping in the area, I couldn't get into my room because the staff didn't communicate the room transfer. Otherwise it was a great stay, when I could get in the room.”

• One of three of the staff members seems very friendly, the other two were eh, okay, but somewhat less swayed to help.
• I accidentally left an important item in the room.

“I had to travel unexpectedly for a family funeral. When I arrived at the hotel, I was treated no differently and the staff went out of their way to ensure a hassle-free and pleasant stay. Several other family members also stayed upon my recommendation.”

“The Fairfield Inn Beckley is one of the few choices for better lodging in the city. The staff has always been friendly each time I've stayed there and the free breakfast is good. I'll stay there again.”

• Clean white cotton bedding, comfortable beds, easy location near restaurants and interstate.
• Unable to get a king room.

“This was a good value for the $. I was happy, even though we had to settle for a double room after buying because there was no king available. The Marriott family hotels are all non smoking which I think is great, and they use cotton duvet's instead of synthetic bedspreads, which seems much cleaner. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. Bathroom was quite small, but internet was working and overall everything was just fine.”

• Non smoking facility would be nice.

“Hotel staff were just super helpful and friendly. Accomodations were exactly as I would expect from a Marriot chain hotel. As stated above the only complaint about this experience is that we ended up with a non smoking facility. All other hotels in the area have smoking rooms. However we had been in the car for several hours so standing outside was not bad since the weather was good.”
