• Lobby was beautiful, refrigerator and microwave in room, and the room was spacious.
• Not enough parking for all the guests, carpets and walls in hallways could be touched up.

“Over all the hotel was great. It was at a perfect location, the lobby was beautiful, the room was spacious and clean, and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Loved that there was a refrigerator and microwave in the room which both came in handy. The carpet and walls in the hallways could be touched up a little, and there didn't seem to be enough parking for all the guests, but they tried to accommodate everyone as best as they could.”

• Friendly staff.
• Was in smoking room.

“The staff was very friendly. The first night we were in a smoking room (which was on a smoking floor - disgusting). The room wasn't that clean. We requested a room change and the hotel couldn't honor it the first night because /c they were full, but the second night we were in a nonsmoking room (which was a lot cleaner). The bedding was comfortable. The shower wasn't exactly hot water though. No continental breakfast.”

“The hotel staff was very accommodating. It took them 24 hours to decide to move us to another room after getting the keys replaced about 6 times the first day. The restaurant staff was very friendly and accommodating.”

• Price and location.
• A little older. Rooms need updating. Bathroom sink was clogged.

• Jacuzzi was nice, pool was a good size.
  
• Dirty rooms, hall-ways ( roaches) and smells.

“The place is not very clean but cheap, if you don't care where you stay this is a good place to save money. The pool is actually nice and there are 2 Jacuzzis. Very close to universal studios (1 mile) and there is a free shuttle that takes you there and brings you back. Overall, if you don't mind a hotel not so clean then it is a good place otherwise look somewhere else.

• Dark, dirty, smelled really bad in the hallways.

“I and my wife found this to be a real dump. Wallpaper was falling off the walls, trim boards in hallway had been knocked loose and not repaired. As soon as we opened the door to our room we were hit with a foul order. We let the room and checked out after no more than two minutes in the room. We canceled our second night also.”

“Overall, this hotel was a great vacation spot for me and my daughter. The location was great - attractions were all very close. The staff was very nice and helpful. We would stay there again!”

• Floor needed vacuuming. White power near door. Bathroom mirror needs replacing.

• Location, close to everything on I drive.
• The room cleanliness was poor at best.

“The hotel itself was nice. Great pool and 2 hot tubs and a great restaurant. Great location, great restaurant (staff especially), uncaring desk staff, cleaning staff lacks cleaning skills, and you can not use the luggage cart unless you are willing to pay the man with his hand out (bell captain) standing next to it. We were also chased down 4 times by the people selling tickets to the parks.”

• Rooms were good.
• Rates quoted by hotel were less than what the taxi actually charged for transport to Universal Studios.

“We had asked 3 rooms for 7 nights. I called in a day before arrival to confirm if they had a fridge/microwave in the rooms. I was told there were none but I could get one upon payment of $10 per day per room. I requested for one set to be provided in one of the 3 rooms. Upon checking in the next evening, I was told by the reception person that all rooms were pre-equipped with a microwave and fridge and we need not pay extra for any room. However, when I checked out I had a charge of almost $80 added for the upgrade. When I asked the reception person, he said I was charged because I had asked for it and the other two rooms were not charged because the hotel had given us complimentary upgrades. I would recommend getting a written undertaking upon check-in if you are told there is no charge for something that is already available as a default.”

• The view from our room was worth the price.
• Their was slight mildew in the bathroom that could use attention.

“The Clarion Universal is a family friendly, moderate hotel located directly across the street from Wet and Wild. It is also very convenient to Universal Studios, with the attractions within 1 mile! It provides a great level of service for the price, and the restaurant and deli add an extra touch of comfort. The attractions desk in the main lobby looked as though it would be a great asset. I am quite certain that we will visit this property again in the future.”

“This was a very comfortable hotel. It was located in a convenient area, close to Seaworld and across the street from Wet N' Wild. My only complaint is that the traffic in the area can get quite backed up.”

“The room was clean but the table was broken, staff replaced it ASAP when I told them. The bathroom tub & sink were stopped up, they fixed the sink ASAP but the tub was still draining slow. The bathroom door frame was cracked and paint chipping off. Paint peeling in the bathroom, but the room itself was very clean. The staff was great, what ever I needed they took care of (what they could) right away). They always had a smile on their face.”

• The location of this hotel was great for my needs. I was doing business, but enjoyed the pool and the vacation like atmosphere during my off hours.
• The hotel was replacing carpet and beds on the floor that I stayed on and it was a bit of a pain to walk around the workers and hear their noises.

“Overall, the hotel met my expectations. They front desk staff was especially helpful and they gave me an extra hour on my check-out time.”

• Room Price.
• Noisy neighboring guests; outdated bathroom; no complimentary breakfast.

“While room rate was good, probably the noisiest hotel I have stayed at. Complimentary computers virtually non-available, being used by kids. Bathroom's fixtures and overall look very dated. $3.50 daily service fee charged in addition to room rate to supposedly cover local calls, use of in-room safe, and parking (thought that was free?), whether you take advantage of what it covers or not. Overrated at 2.5. Would not stay at this hotel again.”

• The hotel had very nice rooms and comfortable beds with 2 sided pillows and 4 of them to a bed.
• There was no fridge or microwave in room at night. Allot of pizza places. Slipped about 5 to 7 flyers under your door tried one place worst food ever.

• I just wish the pool and hot tubs would stay open later.

“The hotel is ideally located across from Wet N Wild. The lobby is clean and spacious. The beds are very comfortable. The rooms are clean and there is free WIFI through out the hotel. They even have a computer in the room for you to access the internet. This property is an excellent value. The staff members are very accommodating and friendly.”

• Public restrooms were nice. Location was excellent, right down the road from the parks and within walking distance to Wet N Wild.
• Mold on upper walls in bathroom and behind curtain on wall. Came home with sinus infection due to poor ventilation and mold. Closet very small.

“Was in a well situated location, close to most attractions. Staff almost did not allow us to check in an hour early (as if it would be a problem but then allowed us to). Required a $75 deposit be held for the room during our stay of which I had no knowledge until we got there. There was an additional fee of $3.50 to be paid upfront per day for parking, internet, etc. Expected the property to be in better shape but seemed older and sort of ran down in some ways. Spotted mold on upper walls in bathroom and behind curtain on wall. Had a swimming pool/moldy smell. Came home with sinus infection and am sure it is due to poor ventilation and mold in the room because we started spitting up phlegm after first nights stay. Bath tub had a draining issue. Vending machines were extremely high in cost.”

• Things in the room werent working.

“Problem in that stuff blew. Microwave, No DVD or VCR neither hookup. Flush don't work in bathroom. Low Water pressure. Electric outlet doesnt work neither enough. No Continental breakfast like other hotels. Less supply for coffee and bathroom stuff. We have to ask every time to get it.”

“Room was clean and AC worked fine. Was given a poolside room which people were in and playing past 11pm. Parking was crowded and parking lot dimly lighted. Shower leaked water out into room onto carpeting. Shower head wouldn't adjust or stay in place. TV remote had no sleep function.”

• The pool was very nice, and we even got our rooms poolside which was very exciting to my children.
• The room had a bit of a smell, musty maybe.

“This hotel was very good for my family. We were able to take the shuttle to Sea World and caught a trolley back. The pool was very nice. My children loved that our room actually opened up to the pool. We enjoyed the hot tubs as well. We didn't have a chance to use the tennis court. The staff was helpful. We stayed two nights and enjoyed both.”

“The staff was very friendly, and listened to suggestions. One of the bed frames needed replacing. It was actually dangerous and cut the leg of the other person in the room. The bathroom door would not stay shut.”

• I like the location of this hotel.
• We had been moved twice due to ceiling leaking water, and the room we had last had ants on the bed.

“The hotel itself was not very accommodating specially the part that the room was not ready when we arrived, we had to move to a room that had water leaking from the ceiling and then moved to a room infected with ants. The beds were very uncomfortable like a board.”

• Shuttle to Universal does not run often enough.

“My wife and I stayed at the Clarion Universal for four days. We enjoyed our stay. The hotel is clean and the staff was helpful and friendly. The mini-fridge in the room is a great plus. We were able to have cold water to take with us to Universal Studios. We did not eat at the hotel. They offer a buffet breakfast for $9.99 for adults and free for kids. We don't have kids. So, it is less expensive for us to eat at Denny's or the theme park. Coffee is available for less than $2. The hotel is a straight shot to Universal, our main destination. It is a 15-20 minute walk to the park. Parking at Universal is about $9-$15. We choose not to drive there. The shuttle runs to Universal in the a.m. (3 trips) and returns in the p.m. (2 or 3 trips). There are no shuttle options for going back and forth. It also stops at several other hotels. We rarely used it and walked most of the time. Walking was sometimes quicker than waiting.”

• Good rooms, very close to Universal, free shuttle service to Universal. Extreme value.

“Excellent and clean rooms, front desk was very helpful and took time to answer all questions I had. This is very close to Universal and the hotel provides free scheduled shuttles to the Universal parks. If you like Indian food, there are several restaurants close by.”

• The pillows were great and the beds were okay.
• The staff never made an effort to clean up the room and there was no kiddy's pool.
