“Family friendly.” Nov 22, 2007 by
Jens from Ft. Walton Beach, FL
“The first room we were given upon arrival was a disaster. It only had one bed and not a real shower. After a few complaints, we were finally given a different room the second night for the rest of our stay and it was much better. We actually started liking he place in the end. It is a good value for the money; however, last time the 2, 5-star hotel was a lot better. 2 stars would be more fitting.” Nov 17, 2007 by
Terrie from Green Cove Springs, FL
“After talking to an associate, I learned that this property was just taken over by calypso cay and they are renovating everything. It was more than efficient for what we needed.” Nov 15, 2007 by
Lucinda from Atlanta, GA
“For the money I was impressed the room was spotlessly clean though housekeeping did leave food from last person in fridge, bathroom was clean, room smelled fine, a nice experience in all hotel going through change of ownership so it isn't an amerisuite anymore.” Nov 14, 2007 by
Peter from Oviedo, FL
“This hotel was recently purchased from another hotel chain. The employees do not know how to operate their computer system. My reservation was tied to someone else's credit card and not mine. I can only wonder whose reservation was tied to my credit card. The first room I was given had not been cleaned by housekeeping. Trash in the wastebaskets, the bed linens were not changed, the carpet not vacuumed, and there were no toiletries (i.e. Soap). The second room I was provided was only better in that it had clean bed linens. The wastebaskets had not been emptied, the carpet had not been vacuumed, there was no soap, and the coffeemaker had not been cleaned. Since I only needed the clean beds, I stayed in this room. The employees excuse was that their computer system showed clean rooms as dirty and dirty rooms as cleaned. What I don't understand is why at 9pm at night all of their rooms are not clean. I think there is more going on at this hotel then I was told. The only positive thing I can say is they have no where to go, but up. They are renovating the rooms and closing a floor at a time to accomplish this task. Hopefully, the renovation includes new mattresses for the beds. My stay here was not enjoyable. Even for the price I paid.” Nov 14, 2007 by
Ida from Davie, FL
“This was the best choice we have made in a long time!” Nov 6, 2007 by
M from West Palm Beach, FL
“This hotel needs to have new staff who cares about the people staying there. Facilities need to work. Light breakfast should include something to eat. They had nothing for the "light" breakfast that they offered not even dry cereal and milk.” Nov 5, 2007 by
Kay from Ann Arbor, MI
“The hotel appears to be in transition or in receivership. Word from other guests is that it previously was a very nice hotel under the name "Amerisuites," which still appears on the hotel front. However, the room was ill equipped (e.g., broken remote, no coffee pot, no Kleenex, no lampshades!). There were 4 pools (1 closed, 1 dirty, and 2 reasonably o.k. But cold).” Nov 4, 2007 by
David from Margate, FL
“This place makes any one star hotel look great. I called for directions (waited on hold for 10 min) and they sent me the wrong way. All of the "Disney area" hotels/inns that are not at the Disney resort are near each other in 1 of 2 areas. This place is further away from Disney than Sea World. The staff was extremely rude. I tried to bring some problems to the attention of the manager. The manager said, "If you don't like it here stay somewhere else, I'm done talking to you." In their defense it could be that they are tired of listening to customer complaints because every time I walked past the front desk, guests where complaining. I have stayed at many national economy hotels and this one ranks below them. Its just that bad. As you walk into the room the smell of mildew just makes you want to vomit. The carpets are very old and stained. The a/c was extremely noisy and leaked onto the carpet. The bathtub had a stain on it like someone used it as a toilet. We changed rooms and that tub had the same stain, so Im not sure the cause. The bed was the standard econ ones, but the sheets are just awful. My wife found fleas on the sheets. They allow pets so I would recommend this place if your animal already is infested with fleas.” Oct 31, 2007 by
Alexis T. from Pembroke Pines, FL
“1 star at best. Do not recommend this hotel.” Oct 31, 2007 by
Jeanne from Parkland, FL
“The hotel staff was rude and unhelpful. The beds were hard and lumpy, the toilet did not flush. We were woken up by another guest peeing in his bathroom above us. The rooms smelled like a dirty ashtray. We moved three times! The breakfast was stale. The water in the room's wet bar did not work. The pools were unkempt and the golf course was un useable. The housekeeper tried to force the door open even though we were in the room and shouted out for her not to enter! I only put a one star rating because there wasn't anything lower! Management never returned my call regarding my complaints!” Oct 25, 2007 by
Tracy from Jacksonville, FL
“Calypso cay was very convenient to Walt Disney world, which was our destination; we were in the park parking lot within 10 minutes. Our room had two double beds and a sofa bed in a semi suite arrangement. The beds were comfortable but had cheap thin linens. The hotel was decent and nice for budget minded families but was not suitable at all for a romantic getaway.” Oct 24, 2007 by
Jeff from West Palm Beach, FL
“Horrible. The front desk person does not speak English well and furthermore understands less. Someone came into our room and stole my camera and watch. The room was not very clean. The carpets were filthy throughout the halls. The most awful experience at a hotel I ever had.” Oct 21, 2007 by
Vj from Bradenton, FL
“It was a little further from Disney than I would have liked, but if you avoid 192, traffic isn't bad. The rooms were large with refrigerator, but one of the two rooms we had smelled musty. The carpet in the hallways was dirty and much worn. The breakfast area is attractive and large, but the continental breakfast only had 2 donut choices (no chocolate), two muffin choices, small cinnamon rolls and yogurt. There was no toaster and nothing to toast, no cereal and no milk, even though there was a milk dispenser. There were two kinds of juice. It would be nice to have a high-speed internet option in the rooms, but it is available in the lobby/breakfast area, which is fairly comfortable.” Oct 19, 2007 by
Tom from Weldon Spring, MO
“I received an excellent rate. The staff is most accommodating and very friendly. Do not rely on the breakfast it is nothing more than sweet roles, some fruit and yogurt. No cereal, bread, waffles, milk or meat. Fortunately there is a grocery store near by and the room came with a fridge and microwave.” Oct 19, 2007 by
Kirk from Otis Orchards, WA
“These hotel met my needs it was a large room kids and me loved the pools never saw housekeeping though but will stay there again.” Oct 18, 2007 by
Jessica from Stckbridge, GA
“This is a nice hotel if you are traveling.” Oct 17, 2007 by
Mercy from Miami, FL
“Hotel is conveniently located near restaurants and amusement parks. Average hotel with less than average continental breakfast.” Oct 17, 2007 by
Michele from North Fort Myers, FL
“This hotel is nice and I liked the room size with a pull out sleeper, fridge, and microwave. They have continental breakfast; muffins, donuts, fruit, orange juice, coffee, tea. The fitness room only had I think 4 pieces of equip. With 2 of them being broken. The pool is nice for kids because it has a slide and they have a small mini golf. The bed was a little uncomfortable but so is a lot of the hotels. Even though the hotel needs some updating I would definitely stay here again.” Oct 16, 2007 by
Frank from Spring Hill, FL
“Very bad, had to pay for maid service in an already dirty room. Only one lift working.” Oct 16, 2007 by
Rick from Jupiter, FL
“The calypso cay is a nice hotel with large rooms which could almost be considered a suite. It is in a nice area, but a little far from Disney. Sometimes distancing yourself slightly from Disney is a good thing. Over all I enjoyed my stay there and would recommend it to a friend. I am going to be staying there again tomorrow night.” Oct 14, 2007 by
Tj from Holladay, UT
“This hotel was going through some renovations or in their slow season. The signs were covered with tarps, only 5 people worked at the hotel the whole 7 days we were there. The continental breakfast was horrible. The staff only cleaned the room once during the week we were there. Only 5 other rooms were used while we were there. Very bare hotel and no amenities whatsoever. There are a few pools but they are owned by other hotels that are in the same complex as this hotel.” Oct 11, 2007 by
Rachel from Burbank, CA
“Previously stayed here when it was the AmeriSuites. It was raining so I didn't check out the mini golf or the pools - I just needed a place to stay, and it couldn't be beat for the price!” Oct 10, 2007 by
Pedro from Boynton Beach, FL
“Hard beds, lousy free breakfast, dirty stains in shower, unfriendly front desk, odd location no name on building, but free putt though I didn't play and can't say if it is worth it.” Oct 10, 2007 by
Rachele from Clearwater, FL
“Great price, clean, and close to Disney.” Oct 10, 2007 by
Michael from Gainesville, FL
“Convenient to Disney World and other parks. Continental breakfast is bare bones. Room was large and comfortable.” Oct 10, 2007 by
Juan D. from Aventura, FL
“Overall this is the worst hotel I have been at. This hotel is by far the worst hotel on your list. There is a 2 star alternative that you guys have (extended stay hotels) that is much better than this one.” Oct 10, 2007 by
Magaly from Pembroke Pines, FL
“I would never stay in this hotel again even if it were for free. The staff actually made me go check the rooms to see it they were clean! The first room I stayed in had a tick in the bed, the second room had a spider under the pillow and a spider on the wall in the bathroom. They do not clean the rooms everyday there is actually an extra charge to have that done. After we were packing to leave, I told my friend not to forget her sock on the floor and she said it wasn't hers! There was a random sock on the floor that "housekeeping" forgot to pick up. Worst hotel ever. Do not stay here!” Oct 10, 2007 by
Richard from St. Augustine, FL
“This hotel is in transition of ownership. When we walked in the room there was still a cup of empty coffee and an open used bar of soap on the sink. They switched our room to an upgraded room. The room design is good with a coach, microwave, sink and coffeemaker which are nice. It is just an outdated hotel with uncomfortable pillows and doesn't seem fresh/clean. The staff seemed nice and attentive, but not well informed about the area.” Oct 8, 2007 by
Tom from Keystone Heights, FL
“Overall a good stay but some rooms must need the carpet replace due to some tears.” Apr 29, 2007 by
Ryan from Deland, FL
“The staff was rude. The room had mold around the air conditioner. The beds were disgusting! The box spring had no cover; this revealed stains that appeared to be vomit. The carpet was horrible. The staff at the front desk was not friendly at all. From now on I will choose the hotel I will stat at even if I have to pay more money.” Apr 19, 2007 by
Namita from Westlake, OH
“Bad experience, poorly run, room was loud, light flickering, bathroom was bad- leaking tap, vending machine did not work. Staff was not pleasant.” Apr 13, 2007 by
Ryan from Kirkland, WA
“Staff was not very friendly and seemed bothered to answer questions. Outside doors were not locked at night as described on signs, felt very unsafe to stay there. Vending machines did not work and soda machine was not stocked (I had to go to the hotel next door to get a soda). Beds were very uncomfortable and of low quality.” Apr 13, 2007 by
Chris from Youngsville, NC
“This was a good hotel. It met our needs and gave us easy access to Disney. The pool wasn't heated and was too cold to use. The free high-speed internet only worked when you were within 20 feet of the front desk.” Feb 20, 2007 by
Debra from Richmond, TX
“The hotel looked great but we did not get to stay there. They did not give us a non smoking room as promised. I had bought the insurance and they would still not release another non smoking room to us. We got a room at a hotel next door, they transferred the reservation, but this was not the same size as the room promised at amerisuites. We had a very stressful situation. This was supposed to be a treat but was not. I will be sending a letter with the details of what happened.” Dec 12, 2006 by
Paula from Maud, TX
“We had a good time at the hotel as well as at the parks. We shopped at the near by wall-mart several times. Even got food for a family cookout by the pool and had a blast. We never did get to play the monitor golf. But it looked like fun. The suite was very nice and big. The mini kitchen was nice w/plates, cups, silver wear all there and washed-up when the room was cleaned. We also got our tickets at the booth in the lobby before we went to the parks. I would recommend this hotel to anybody that is coming for fun or to just relax and enjoy the things the hotel has to offer.” Dec 5, 2006 by
Sheila from Somerville, TN
“For a Disney vacation on a budget this hotel has everything a family could want. Joining rooms, living room area, pool with waterslide and hot tub, good continental breakfast and transportation to the parks.” Dec 3, 2006 by
Linda from Seminole, FL
“Great accessories with refrigerator and comfortable beds. Safe atmosphere.” Nov 14, 2006 by
Jane from Chatham, NJ
“The beds were not very comfortable. They could have been firmer. They also put something between the mattress and the sheet that kept bunching up as I slept. The sound of toilet being flushed through out the night was very annoying. The bathroom and the sink area could have been cleaned better. The sheets were definitely not changed everyday. The free breakfast was a major plus! The location is great. Lots of restaurants in the area. A huge wall mart and shopping outlets minutes away.” Nov 6, 2006 by
Tim from Brodhead, WI
“Great Price!” Nov 3, 2006 by
Craig from Overland Park, KS
“This hotel provided a clean room to sleep with convenient access to Disney. It¿s located near 536 bypassing the crowds near the Disney Marketplace entrance. We found the rooms to need new carpet and the air conditioning was cold or not so it had to be managed through the night. The kids loved the water slide at the pool and the mini-golf. ” Nov 1, 2006 by
Debbie from Ocala, FL
“This was a great family hotel. The main pool had an awesome slide, "sea creatures" spraying water and a great "beach entry". There was a play area and an 18 whole miniature golf course right on the property!! They had several restaurants that delivered right to the hotel (and poolside). The breakfast buffet was really good, too. It was more than just your cold cereal and warm toast. I would definitely stay there again!” Oct 30, 2006 by
Denise from Monrovia, MD
“An excellent place to stay while visiting the Disney parks. The pool was a great place to relax after a long day at the parks. The included breakfast was a real treat and very good, simple and quick to get you out the door for some family fun.” Oct 28, 2006 by
Eric from Toronto, ON CA
“Although a little removed from where my conference was, I was very happy with the deal that I got.” Oct 27, 2006 by
Jorge from Port Orange, FL
“The hotel is very good. The rooms very clean. Good breakfast. Quiet.” Oct 26, 2006 by
Marge from North Fond Du Lac, WI
“The housekeeping was sloppy and the hotel poorly maintained. I did get the essentials such as clean towels and toilet paper, but there was very little cleaning done each day. The breakfast was good, more substantial than many hotels provide and the location was also a plus: a quick, easy route to Disney or to I-4 to head up to Universal. Another positive was that it was either soundproofed better than most hotels or I was lucky during my stay as I'm a light sleeper but was not disturbed by noise from other rooms and the hotel was well-occupied while I was there. None of the staff was ever rude to me, but there was a generally unfriendly feel, never a welcome or a smile. I felt more like they'd rather not be there, or even more likely, that they'd be happier if we weren't there.” Oct 26, 2006 by
Barbara from Salem, OR
“Comfortable rooms (suite), friendly helpful staff, and activities for all ages (pools, waterslide, mini-golf, and game room), close to Disneyworld and other attractions.” Oct 25, 2006 by
Candy from Tallahassee, FL
“When I arrived at the hotel it had a broken unused fountain in the front. The staff was very nice. I went to my room and when I got off the elevator it was so smelly and stinks and so was the room. I went back down stairs to switch rooms and their were three more people trying to switch, but there were no more rooms available. The furniture in the hall was broke and old. The water was not hot at all when showering. I was neither happy nor pleased at all!” Oct 25, 2006 by
Tracey from Kokomo, IN
“We were given a room next to the elevator and were kept awake all night by the ding of the elevator every time it came to our floor. The room was clean, but dated. The nicest thing about the place was the pool which we all enjoyed. The breakfast was reasonably good for an included hotel breakfast. It was nice for grabbing something quick before going into the park.” Oct 25, 2006 by
Dererk from Lancaster, CA
“The grounds, exterior and lobby made us think we had made a good choice. The interior of the room was in poor worn out condition and we were very disappointed.”
