• The bed was very comfortable.
• The pool/hot tube room is very dated along with the bathrooms.

“The entry is nice. However, when I got there, the staff at first was obnoxious. Then the manager took care of it. It needs to be clear on their site that breakfast is actually $10/person.”

• The staff was very friendly and helpful. Everyone was full of smiles.
• I've never stayed at a noisier hotel in my life. Between my loud neighbors and the club (?) beneath us, the baby had a hard time sleeping.

“Very friendly and helpful staff, 3 or 4 different reunions were happening, though. This made it extremely noisy at all hours. I had to ask the neighbors to calm their children (ages 3-10, I would guess) at midnight. The elevators were clogged at all hours, also. Plus, there was a club or something below us, so the music was loud late into the night. Because of all the noise, the baby didn't sleep well. Therefore, mommy and daddy got no sleep. On a side note, I was not aware I was being charged $8/day parking. I felt a little nickel and dime over this one. I got a receipt under my door the morning we were leaving, showing my credit card was charged for this. I asked the girl at the desk as I was checking out about this, pointing out that there were no signs informing anyone of this. She shrugged and said the parking garage belonged to the city of Charleston.”

• There was nothing I did not like.

• Excellent staff, good location.
• Parking garage needs improvements; room balcony inaccessible.

“Overall, quite good. The room balcony was inaccessible, which was too bad as there could have been a nice view of the river. Restaurant was great with a nice selection of wines but the hotel bar closes at midnight (not 1 AM as in their room information). The parking garage could use much better lighting and directions to the elevator. I arrived back late and while I'm sure it's a safe city, the experience of wandering around trying to find my way back to the hotel (no valet) was intimidating.”

• Excellent location, clean rooms, good parking.
• I have a 5-year-old son. I had to pay for his breakfast buffet - I did not see this anywhere else where stayed: everywhere children under 10 eat free!

“They need to updated all the TVs in all the rooms. My TV was at least 10 years old.”

• We would have thought for three star hotels we would have had small fridge in room. The parking being in a garage.

• Other than my specific complaint, below, it was a very nice hotel, and I have stayed there numerous times in the past.
• Noise, lack of follow through by the desk on my complaint.

“This was one of the worst hotel stays I have ever had. There was some type of party going on in the hotel and the room next to mine evidently was rented to a couple in their early 20's.”

• The staff was very friendly, and the lobby was very clean.
• The room was nice but water didn't drain from tub while showering, and cleanliness of bathroom wasn't great especially for a 3 star hotel.

“The Marriott was very clean, quiet, and the staff was very friendly. Our room was very nice. We did have issues with the water not draining from the tub when showering. The bathroom was not as clean as expected from a 3 star hotel. The other downfall is having to pay $8 to park when you've already paid for your room. That would be one of the major complaints I have. The garage is there for the Marriott however, you have to pay $8.”

• The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.
• No inside smoking rooms or other accommodations for smokers.

“Very close to the airport. The hotel staff was very pleasing and helpful. I was more than satisfied with the service attitudes of the staff. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that it was cold outside and they didn't have a place inside where I could smoke and be warm. I believe that all paying customers, smoker or not, should be accommodated fairly and equally. I understand that there are people who are averse to smoking, but that doesn't mean smoking customers shouldn't have some kind of arrangement indoors that wouldn't offend non-smokers other than being banished to the outdoors like some kind of animal.”

• The decor was very much to my liking especially the hotel room. It was clean and we loved the pool!
• The restaurant lunch buffet left much to be desired.

“The location is very convenient to the interstate. The sleeping room was very clean, mattress was very comfortable, and decor was pleasing. I prefer Marriott hotels when traveling and have not been disappointed.”

“I have had many positive experiences with this hotel in the past. This particular trip was a disaster. When someone took a shower in adjoining room, it sounded like a plane taking off. I tried room service and it never came one hour later so I called and canceled.”

• Not good channel selection on TV. Water damage in room. No balcony access.

“Pros: Nice lobby area, speedy elevators, nice cafe. Cons: Room had perfect view of a housing project and the interstate, water damage in room, $8.00 for parking, and another $10.00 for internet and phone access, Uninviting atmosphere into bar area (just wanted to watch a ballgame. Looked like I needed a dinner reservation), and the reason I wanted to watch a ballgame was because of the poor TV selection in the room.”

• Friendly staff, great location for my needs, comfortable bed, well decorated room and public areas, excellent room service.
• The tub needs to be replaced. It appeared old and worn (perhaps some slip resistant tiles have been removed.) Looked very bad.

“Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend this hotel. Marriott has a good product, courteous staff, great food, beautifully decorated lobby, restaurant, and room, nice pool and exercise room, and convenient location to the mall, airport, and Interstate.”

• The pool was great and the beds and bedding were fantastic!
• There was a lot of dust behind furniture. Didn't have to look hard to see it.

“Our stay was excellent and I would stay again. Rooms and furniture are looking a little worn, but the hotel gets a lot of business due to its location. Bedding was wonderful! I'll stay again!”

• The shuttle staff is wonderful.
• Paying to park every time you use your parking pass is outrageous.

“This hotel is mediocre in most ways with the exception of the shuttle staff. The pool area was a mess, there were no directions at the sauna, and towels were scarce. Given the geographic area this hotel is in, I believe that it overpriced and over rated.”

Neighbor closed his door and I thought the painting was going to fall on my head. Very small television in room and cannot believe you have to pay $8.00 to park at their hotel garage.”

“Cleanliness of the room was below standard. Sheets were stained. I was told clean sheets would be brought to the room but never arrived. I had to clean the tub before using because of hair left from previous guest. This hotel should be a 2 star at the most. I also had to pay 8.00 for parking at the hotel so very dissatisfied with this hotel. Very unusual for a Marriot.”

“I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The location is centralized to shopping and restaurants. The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful. It met the standards of what you expect from a Marriott. I was surprised in regards to the added parking fee when utilizing the parking garage. I thought that was included with the initial hotel charge. Breakfast was available for a fee. I still think about the breakfast that some of Marriott's competitors of equal star rating provide for no extra charge.”

• The breakfast buffet and location of the Hotel and very clean also.
• Elevator to parking garage didn't work at first but they fix it later.

“Very nice Hotel. Clean and in perfect location with the Mall directly across the street with Chili's and Outback to dine at! They also have a movie theatre around the corner. All of this is with walking distance for a Senior Citizen.”

“This hotel has an upscale reputation that it does not live up to. The rooms are small and the decor is outdated. And for the price the extra charges are ridiculous, $8.00 per day to park and $9.95 per day for internet, and $13.00 per movie.”

• The room was perfect. Bed was comfortable. Nice pillows.
• Was not informed that I had to pay for parking at hotel.

“Hotel was in a great location. Walking distance to the Charleston Town Center Mall (across the street) did not eat at the hotel. There was an unfortunate false alarm fire alarm at 12:45 a.m. Which was not convenient? I was not informed that parking for hotel guests was $8.00 a night, when they appeared to have their own garage. Room and bed were ideal. Free internet access for business travelers was not available and if it was, it was not very easy to locate. They did offer an unlimited internet and local/long distance calling package for a fee of $9.95?”

• The whirlpool, sauna, indoor pool, and exercise room were great.
• The room smelled musty.

“The purpose of my traveling was for medical reasons. I had been on the road since early morning, and I was very tired after my appointment. However, this hotel's check-in time was 4:00 pm and accommodating my resting needs was not a priority to them.”

“The Marriott Town Center Hotel in Charleston, WV is truly a destination hotel. Charleston has become a wonderful place to visit over the years, tucked away in the central WV mountains. The hotel thrives on excellent customer service, and we were treated like royalty the entire time we were there. Everyone was just great! I want to come back again soon!”

• Have to call room service for something as simple as coffee creamer.

“Overall the experience was fine. The bed was comfortable, and we slept well. No free continental breakfast and no free access to the internet. Access to the multi-floor garage is not convenience. We have to get down to the ground floor, and then get into the hotel. We also have to pay $6 for parking overnight.”

• The thermostat was broken and the room stayed about 95 degrees.

“While the hotel was very nice, the broken thermostat kept the room unbearably hot even when the temp outside was in the teens and this fact colored our perception of the stay.”
