- It looked expensive.
- Parking was horrible and it cost 25 bucks.
“It is located right next to Tower City mall, which closes at 6 o'clock on a Saturday, It took 30 minutes to travel through their indoor garage because there is no room to maneuver. Parking costs 22 bucks. I couldn't find a spot so I had to pay the valet. There was no complimentary anything with his hotel. The service staff were nice but I did receive the wrong directions.”

- The staff was very friendly and fast to accommodate us.
- The main reason we went was 2 relax and their pool was closed both days.
“Upon first sight the hotel was very glitzy and glamorous the hotel was perfect the only issue myself or fellow hotel guest noticed which isnt bad in and of its own was the inner city youth who were using the hotel as a cut through for the tower city mall had no respect and were using a lot of profanity when walking through. There were a lot of families staying those nights at the hotel.”

- The desk agent gave us a room with two doubles.
- The original reservation specialist told us that two double beds were not available. I was with my wife and 2 daughters and would have caused problem.
“I was ultimately pleased that the desk agent gave me a room with 2 double beds. However, the original reservation agent told me that there were none. I would have had no options if this did not work out for me. (But luckily it did in this case.) I do not know why that would be the case. This was somewhat disturbing not knowing what to expect until I got there. If this had not worked out - I would have had a bad experience.”

- The staff was excellent. I have never been pampered so much at a hotel, and I've gotten pampered at lots of hotels.
- The hotel had a beautiful historic feel, but I think they should update their carpet and furniture, still keeping it historic, but with flair.
“The hotel was comfortable; the staff was very accommodating and friendly. They pampered me like I was "the Queen of England".”

- I've always loved the luxury and outstanding staff there.
- We could not control the thermostat of our 2 rooms - extremely hot.
“This was the first time I had something negative to report and it was only because the two rooms we had were extremely hot - we couldn't control the thermostat in the 2 rooms - they didn't work.”

- The people in Cleveland. The noise at 9 am from the pool. Thinnest windows ever.
“The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The only complaint I have is the pool is in the middle of the hotel and there is no soundproofing between your room and the pool, get a few 7 year olds there at 9 am after going out on 6th street. Horrible experience. So, just make sure you are in an outside room.”

- BIG misses on some key cleanliness details.
“We had a wedding at a far more expensive hotel nearby, so we were pleased to be so close at a great price. Downtown is a rougher area though, so we were very watchful. This is one of those hotels that comes so close to excellent but falls short in some details - ex: the lovely bathrobe in the closet I glanced at upon arrival was covered in red dye and looked like blood when my husband put it on! Someone had dyed their hair red and left large stains all over it, and housekeeping never noticed. There appeared to be more red stains on the bathroom door and the marble wall near the garbage can.”

“Very disappointed in the room we were given, esp. since the hotel was supposed to be a 4-star. It seemed old and worn. Small, with no minibus. Noise was an issue, as parties were going on all night around us. (we had a child with us) I would not stay here again, even at a lower price. However, the staff was pleasant and the lobby area was very nice.”

- Beautiful and festive lobby.
- Bathroom fixtures outdated, tub did not drain well.
“The Renaissance is a very prestigious and historic property. The staff was professional and courteous, the grounds were beautiful. The amenities were plentiful and well maintained. In my room the decor was wonderful. The only drawback was that my tub did not drain very well. In spite of that, I would definitely stay there again.”

- Elegant, well-restored historic building. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. Helpful staff, especially Susan the concierge.
- Our room overlooked a covered courtyard with pool. When kids were playing in the pool, the noise was amplified by the architecture.
“The hotel is in a beautiful old building in a perfect location in Downtown Cleveland. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. The staff was all extremely nice and helpful. The concierge really went all out for us.”

- The location in Downtown Cleveland couldn't be better.
- Room size was small for such high rating.
“The staff was great to us. We had two rooms for two night booked for 4 guys and the original ones we were given really small. The staff, with out hesitation, moved us to the next biggest rooms they could find. The rooms are surprisingly small overall. Location is near everything downtown plus the ability to walk to the Quickens Loan Arena and RTA without walking outside is great.”

- The bed in our room was awesome. It was so comfortable that we enjoyed more than our own bed at home.
- The drain in the bathtub was slow. This made taking a shower somewhat uncomfortable.

- The bar staff was very friendly.
- The construction outside.
“Very nice hotel, clean and elegant. The staff is well trained and professional. The neighborhood is a little rough for walking alone at night.”

- This was a great experience. We received a nice room on 14th floor with access to lounge food etc great>.
- It was not close to Cleveland clinic but worth the drive.

- Hospitality. The employees are fantastic!
- Pool, small and no hot tub.
“Staff at the front desk really took care of us. We had our young children and we were cramped the first night. She upgraded our room to give us some additional space. The hotel was fantastic, however the employees made it over the top!”
