“They also gave us club access and late checkout to compensate for our trouble. Hotel was great - could have been a little nicer in the rooms - very musty and we had stained sheets and towels - AC was very hard to use - either ice cold or muggy - paying more for the historic at this hotel - great location - lots of bars/restaurants in walking distance.” Aug 15, 2008 by
Cyndi from Fenton, MI
“My husband and I stayed at the Renaissance Cleveland during a weekend stay and for the most part we really loved the hotel. The location was wonderful and the building itself is absolutely gorgeous. The lobby is like something out of a movie. Our room was beautiful - seemed small at first until we noticed a small door and realized it led to a really nice patio with comfy furniture adjacent to the hotel's atrium. However, the location on the atrium proved to be somewhat of a nightmare. There was a large, boisterous wedding party in rooms near ours and they partied all night, part of the time in the atrium itself which is supposed to be closed at night. We complained to the front desk and the noise stopped for about a half an hour and then started up again. We didn't expect the hotel to be responsible for individuals behavior, but would have expected better security to keep them from ruining other guests stays. My advice is to stay away from atrium rooms - if anyone is screwing around in the atrium you will hear every word!” Aug 15, 2008 by

“Grande Dame hotel property at the city center; high-style luxurious lobby exudes old world money. Staff is genuinely caring; lounge and onsite restaurant are exceptional. Unfortunately the rooms are cursed with antiquated & noisy HVAC and plumbing; rehab of bathrooms poorly executed (tub inserts overplayed in legacy bathtub); very poor ventilation in rooms as air does not circulate to the outside.” Aug 14, 2008 by
Anna M. from Bedford, OH
“It is a very elegant hotel and with a very responsive staff. Getting baggage from parking area is a bit of a hassle if you do it yourself.” Aug 14, 2008 by
Nancy from Manitowoc, WI
“This is a very nice hotel. Perfect location for Rock Hall of Fame, restaurants and bars of the Warehouse District, etc. Connected to Tower Mall. Night shift valet is extremely nice and helpful. Housekeeping staff is very friendly and does and excellent job. The pool isn't open very late and isn't very kid friendly. Could be more places to sit in the room besides just the bed. Overall, very nice.” Aug 14, 2008 by
K from Canton, OH
“Though our room was nicely appointed and extremely clean, it was quite small for being a very expensive hotel. The fitness room is excellent!” Aug 14, 2008 by
Bgm from Murrysville, PA
“Very beautiful hotel close to everything in Downtown Cleveland. Connected to a shopping mall which was fun to walk around.” Aug 13, 2008 by
Theresa from Pittsburgh, PA
“The room was small but comfortable. The staff was so nice and helpful and the hotel was very pretty. Pool and gym were very nice.” Aug 13, 2008 by
Kristin from Moon Township, PA
“This was the perfect room! Everyone was friendly and very helpful! However the food from Sans Saucy the hotel restaurant was terrible. I will never get room service there again.” Aug 12, 2008 by
Betsy from Perry, MI
“I would recommend it due to the friendliness of the workers but it wasn't a 4 star, due to decor, lack of seating in rooms, lack of refrigerator/bar, pool was cool, but that area is missing out on what it could be.” Aug 11, 2008 by
Tim from Ithaca, MI
“Excellent downtown location. Older classy style with some new updates. Only complaint would be self park is not easy, and valet is pricy.” Aug 9, 2008 by
Deborah from Pontiac, MI
“The Renaissance Hotel was in a great location, had beautiful, comfortable, though small, rooms and excellent exercise room and pool. We would happily stay there again.” Aug 7, 2008 by
Deb from Kalamazoo, MI
“Beautiful old hotel that has retained character, but maintained modern comforts. I was amazed at the size of the room. The largest double room I've ever stayed in. Comfortable beds, clean room, friendly staff. I highly recommend the place.” Aug 7, 2008 by
Kris from Gaines, MI
“We were treated rudely by the hotel manager. The person checking us in was trying to accommodate our request for a two bed room but when the manager found out, he told her she could not do that. The people at the convention come first. The hotel, itself, was nice and was located right downtown and was within walking distance to many attractions.” Aug 6, 2008 by
George from Falls Church, VA
“Nice location and interesting old building. It certainly has seen better days: some of the plaster walls and ceiling are peeling, creaky escalators, tired elevators, etc. It's a little run-down compared to the Hyatt nearby or the Ritz-Carlton. Service was good though.” Aug 5, 2008 by
David from Canal Winchester, OH
“My wife & I brought our 7-year old niece to Cleveland for the Browns family night. The location was easy to walk to and from the stadium and was in the middle of Cleveland (One of my favorite towns), was close to restaurants and attractions and had a 4-star feel to it. It felt older, not so glitzy-modern, but it was a nice venerable feel. The hotel's parking lot was scary, however; In looking for a spot, I drove down a long row of parked cars, did not find a spot and found that there was no outlet to get out of the row; IOW, you had to back up hoping that no one would hit us via flying down that row, backing out or just hitting parked cars in the row! It seemed cramped, limited and you'd have to improvise in finding a spot (leaving you wonder if your car would be towed or damaged by other parkers). Not so good.” Aug 4, 2008 by
Roberto from Plainfield, IL
“Location, that is the only positive about the hotel. The staff was unfriendly not at all helpful.” Aug 3, 2008 by
Bill from Byron Center, MI
“Overall the experience was good, location was excellent.” Jul 31, 2008 by
Dee from Franklin Park, IL
“This is an old hotel - renovated nicely, but still very old. It was a long walk from the parking garage to check in, and from check-in to the room. I mean a long walk. The rooms were nothing special, low on amenities. The hotel charged for every little thing, and the front desk staff wasn't particularly helpful with directions. And no shuttle to downtown or airport - all other Cleveland downtown hotels have this because parking is impossible but distances are a little too far to walk comfortably. I would not say it was a four star - at most three stars.” Jul 30, 2008 by
Jeffrey from New Philadelphia, OH
“Great place to stay in downtown Cleveland.” Jul 29, 2008 by
Kathy from Churubusco, IN
“I loved the Renaissance hotel in Cleveland, and had a very pleasant stay. Even considering I stayed two nights, it was one of the best traveling experiences I've had so far. The staff was very polite and helpful, and the food and room service were both wonderful. My only complaint would be that there is no complimentary breakfast, but other than that, it was a great hotel.” Jul 28, 2008 by
Joanne from Tonawanda, NY
“Spectacular lobby and architecture this building is magnificent, but the base level room is very small. If you're looking for a good health club facility you won't find it here, it's very small, very hot (no AC) and the machines are limited and few. The indoor pool is very nice. The Brasserie serves a wonderful breakfast buffet complete with a pot of Starbucks coffee - well worth the $15.00. Overall a pleasant stay, though the room itself was a disappointment.” Jul 26, 2008 by
Liz from Noblesville, IN
“In an excellent location near to public transport and many attractions. The room was lovely except for the apparent age of the bathroom. However the staff seemed not to care if we were there or not.” Jul 25, 2008 by
Tom from Cincinnati, OH
“The Cleveland Renaissance is ideally suited for the business traveler. For guests arriving by car who do not wish to utilize the valet service, the parking garage is a headache. Poorly designed, much too small, cramped and always overcrowded. Location is a bit too far from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame to comfortably walk. The outstanding staff saved our experience. Each was welcoming, friendly, professional, and exceedingly courteous and helpful.” Jul 24, 2008 by
Jacob from Cincinnati, OH
“Beautiful downtown hotel in a fantastic location, close to everything in downtown Cleveland. Highly recommend the Renaissance.” Jul 23, 2008 by
Lisa from Towanda, PA
“It was a step back in time yet it was updated. It was a real gem that Cleveland had the good sense to preserve. It should be included in travel trips to the R&R Hall of fame.” Jul 22, 2008 by
Stephanie from Strongsville, OH
“It is a beautiful hotel with nice rooms. I was disappointed in the staff. Their parking garage was full so they valet parked my car until a spot in their garage became open. The front desk clerk charged me for the valet park even though all I wanted to do was park in their garage. He politely informed me I was welcome to park elsewhere. However, as a guest of the hotel, I expected the convenience of parking in their garage. Other than that they did a very nice job.” Jul 22, 2008 by
Erin from Pittsburgh, PA
“Pretty, but old hotel. Could use a renovation - furniture was scuffed up, TV was at least 10 years old, rooms quite small. Our room was at the very noisy back of the hotel, we woke up to trucks being unloaded and a very loud HVAC system every morning. Bed was very comfortable, staff was wonderful, but if you are looking for a true 4- tar experience, I would stay elsewhere.” Jul 21, 2008 by
Jeff from San Luis Obispo, CA
“Location is great especially if you want to get out and see Cleveland other than that don't expect much more than a Red Roof. Small, old rooms. That can be fine if the charm is there. There aren't none here. Save your money and go to a Hampton (nearby).” Jul 19, 2008 by
Denise from Avon, OH
“Rooms were cute, small. painted nicely. Great coffee machine in room. Really a perfectly one night stay. If staying for a week or more, it could get pretty crowded. Even if just two people. Beds. Very comfortable. I would stay there again. Parking was out of control though $23 for one night!” Jul 19, 2008 by
Jim from Avon Lake, OH
“Frankly, I was a bit disappointed. This was mostly due to the room itself. Window was at the courtyard and people working out in the fitness area could be heard through the night. People in the hallway could be heard in early morning. Room was small and pillows were uncomfortable. Not a four star experience.” Jul 17, 2008 by
Joseph from Cambridge, OH
“A good hotel to stay for a weekend watching sporting events at Progressive Field or the arena. Loved the bed and linens. The popcorn ball left on the pillows.” Jul 17, 2008 by
John from Miamisburg, OH
“Nice, old hotel, great location for what we wanted, food was good, room was nice and staff was good for what little we needed out of them.” Jul 16, 2008 by
Mark from Scarborough, ON CA
“Room service was poor, bedding is not clean, bathroom wallpaper is peeling off, not consider a 4 star hotel.” Jul 16, 2008 by
Ken from Lexington, OH
“Room was comfortable, but a little small. TV was on the small side and a long way from the bed.” Jul 16, 2008 by
Mike from Erie, PA
“Hotel needs to be updated.” Jul 16, 2008 by
Brad from Tiverton, RI
“Classical design. Restored old building. Outstanding all around.” Jul 16, 2008 by
Elaine from Perrysburg, OH
“Very disappointed in the staff. I had requested 2 double/queen beds since I was traveling with my husband and 2 teenage girls. Once I arrived, I was told that I would get 1 queen bed and a rollaway bed, then they out graded me to a king and a rollaway. Still I slept in a chair for 2 nights. There comment was that they don't like to turn people away. So basically they lie to you to get your business. Bad business practice.” Jul 15, 2008 by
Debbie from Suwanee, GA
“The bar staff was not helpful at all. He seemed out of place behind the bar and several of the guests commented about that. When asked questions about wine he said I don't drink wine, can't help you there. Not the right response.” Jul 10, 2008 by
Rob from Parma Hts., OH
“Nice place with attractive rooms. small television, decent bed, nice bedding. Could have been cleaner. Restaurant called San Souci has excellent food, romantic decor and expensive prices.” Jul 3, 2008 by
Anthony from Greensboro, PA
“Small rooms, ice machine didn't work, pool was filthy and sink drain clogged.” Jul 2, 2008 by
Rod from Monroeville, PA
“Very nice older hotel. Lobby impressive. Good location. Access to Mall. Rooms very small. Air conditioning is inadequate, rendering the rooms too warm on hot days.” Jun 16, 2008 by
Andrea from Loveland, CO
“Our disappointing stay started with a woman at the front desk simply staring at us rather than asking how she could help. We were then shocked at the $23/day for self parking. As we retrieved our bags after parking we discovered the escalators did not work and the parking garage and hotel lobby smelt of urine. Our shock continued with $13/day wi-fi access. The fitness area was filty dirty and we had to exercise to the smell of a staff person smoking in the pool area. Except for Dan, at the front desk, every other staff person we encountered would either not speak to us or greet us with some words but no eye contact, no smile. The Microtel we stayed on the way to Cleveland and the Holiday Inn we stayed at on the way back home far surpassed the Renaissance in every way - customer service, cleanliness, meals, internet access, parking.etc. We will never stay at a Renaissance again.” Jun 16, 2008 by
Chad from Columbia City, IN
“The lobby and restaurants were very clean and spacious. The room was a little outdated but still clean and comfortable. It was within walking distance to several bars/restaurants, all 3 pro sports stadiums and fairly close to the rock & roll hall of fame (long walk). We had to pay $14 for internet access, which I feel should be included, but no big deal. Overall, it was a great hotel for what we needed.” Jun 16, 2008 by
Leslie from Stow, OH
“Great location for events around the city of Cleveland.” Jun 9, 2008 by
Rob from Columbus, OH
“This is a great hotel for business travel as the beds were comfortable and the staff was very friendly. The bathroom was very small which could be good for a single user.” Jun 9, 2008 by
Mike from Dublin, OH
“Very nice but lounge is outrageously pricey.” Jun 9, 2008 by
J P. from Mountain Lakes, NJ
“Staff was fabulous and very attentive.” Jun 8, 2008 by
Judy from Philadelphia, PA
“The renaissance in Cleveland, oh, is a beautiful hotel to stay in. Formerly known as the Cleveland hotel, it was built in the early 20th century and old world luxury strikes you when you first enter the massive and elegant entry foyer leading to reception. The location is perfect for anything you wish to do Downtown. We were able to walk to the rock hall of fame and to the venue where we attended a graduation. The local restaurants were really great and we had a wonderful experience. The only negative would the number of people outside the hotel who wait for you to leave so that they can ask for money. I feel that they are more aggressive than in other cities Ive visited.” Jun 8, 2008 by
Bill from Parma, OH
“Great older hotel in Downtown location. Stay was nice and helpful. Would never stay there again due to the high priced parking added without my knowing it was going to happen.” Hotel Representatives:
