“Hotel is not being maintained adequately. It could be a lovely place to stay, but the lights did not work properly, or the plug ins, the balcony had the ac vented onto it, it was way too hot to even use. I personally have stayed at budget motels that have been far better maintained. We did enjoy our stay because we had an open mind and wanted r and r by the pool, which we had, and enjoyed. If someone was looking for a 4 star resort, this would definitely not be adequate.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Sep 30, 2006 by

“The resort was not what I expected for the price I paid. I most likely wont stay at this resort again.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 26, 2006 by

“This resort is ugly compared with other resort's in Key's. Construction next door and repair work at the Reach woke us up at 8am.” 3 of 3 people found this review helpful.Aug 5, 2006 by

“It was okay but I definitely would not pay rack price for this. I was also surprised there was an additional $14.00 "Resort Fee" added to each day. The beach which was supposed to be the nicest on the island was full of seaweed and smelled bad.” 3 of 3 people found this review helpful.Jul 5, 2006 by

“This hotel was ok, the room was adequate, about what I expected. the beach/pool area was beautiful. However the staff on the beach were only marginal, not very friendly at all. It was close to Duval street, about 2 blocks away from the south side of Duval street. I stayed in a room next to an area where they were remodeling a different building but wasn't affected by the noise. myself and quite a few other guests I noticed had difficulties finding their room and the elevators to the room. The hotel is kind of like a maze, easy to get lost in. Overall, not a bad hotel, but not a great one, certainly not what I imagined a resort in key west to be.” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Jun 19, 2006 by

“A lovely resort. The beach is nice and the staff is friendly. The restaurants were expensive and the Beach Bar was grossly over priced. The rooms were showing there age.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jun 5, 2006 by

“Rooms are nice, outer hotel could use a face lift Was satisfied for the price and would return to hotel again for another stay.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jun 2, 2006 by

“The room was very, very small (a large closet) shower dripped water on floor when not in use bath door handle came off. AC system didn't work properly. No ref,or coffee maker. TV was useless due to size of room. was told had I spent more money I would have had a better room by management. not at all a resort. very disappointed spoiled a beautiful weekend. GT.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.May 28, 2006 by

“The hotel is falling apart. The parking garage has standing water and falling concrete The valet parking is a rip off. Its dump that was dropped by the national brands and now is local run. Not a resort, Motel 6 is better.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.May 15, 2006 by

“This hotel should be priced at around 85-100 dollar range. Although the hotel will undergo a renovation of 27 million dollars, its current state does not warrant the high price. Here are a couple of things that are wrong: showers too small (think about showering inside a coffin), the a/c is too loud even on the low setting, the hotel is in disarray, dirty and old. I would recommend anyone that is considering this hotel to book the Hilton instead.” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.May 5, 2006 by

“I would not call this hotel a Resort, because in my mind that is 5 Stars +, it was more like a 3.5 Star. The hotel lacked the amenities that I would have expected at a "Resort" like a full gym/spa. If you just want a hotel on the beach and don't require much else, then this is fine; but if you are spending big money thinking you are staying at a 5 Star resort on the beach you will be very disappointed.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Apr 29, 2006 by

“Hotel is at a good location, beautiful beach and pool. Poor condition, dirty, tired rooms, Many things broken, Remote and no coffee maker. Free Shuttle never showed up at the airport in 1 1/2 hour. Called many times and kept being told it would be there in 15 minutes, finally took a $17.00 cab, Front desk didn't care, no apology. Could be a beautiful hotel, but needs a total make over. A walk in, got a lower rate than our "Special Rate" and was put on a higher floor!” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Apr 26, 2006 by

“We had a great time on the beach and in the pool. The location of the resort is great. However, the room was not very clean, and we had to walk around the whole building (in sweltering weather) to reach the elevators and back. We woke every morning to jackhammers and sawing -- construction is going on right next to many of the rooms; are they building a new resort? There is also construction in the parking garage which makes it very difficult to navigate (not to mention LOUD) and yet they still charge $10/day for parking a vehicle. There is nowhere else to park. The lobby is very difficult to locate when you first check-in. Also the rooms do not have amenities that I would expect in a resort such as a mini-fridge, microwave, or a coffeemaker. Ridiculous. Overall this "resort" is really not worth the price tag. It was our honeymoon and I really wish we had chosen to stay at one of those smaller inns!” Apr 18, 2006 by
Michele from Reston, VA
“Beach is so crowded you feel like you are on Coney Island. Pool is very small and also crowded. First room was horrible. Could hear jack hammers below due to construction. When I complained, Manager was very nice moved us to the other side of the hotel with a partial ocean view.” Apr 3, 2006 by
Barbara from Englewood, CO
“We enjoyed our vacation resort immensely, aside from the mess of garage repair and construction noise next door. Staff was friendly and helpful. Private beach was exquisite with umbrellas and chairs provided. We felt pampered when we were outside. I wish every hotel had such nice rooms.” Mar 30, 2006 by
Wayne from Essex, MD
“It was a comfortable and nicely decorated Hotel, convenient to all the attractions in Key West.” Mar 25, 2006 by
Beverly from Litchfield, NH
“One room was not ready said would be ready in half hour would come and get luggage in the room we were waiting. Forgot about us for over 2 hours and then had to call back again to get luggage transferred. Gave us $100 credit for breakfast because of water problem in room.” Mar 9, 2006 by
Kristin from Hollywood, FL
“While I heard The Reach Resort was supposed to be an up class hotel, it didn't look like it. They have been purchased by another company and are going through growing pains. The room was nice enough. However, we had a need to use the sofa bed. The hotel staff made it up for us while we were out to dinner. When I got into it that night, I smelled a funny odor. It was urine. I thought it was just the sheets, and called the housekeeping staff to address it. I smelled the mattress and cushions and it was the whole sofa. Someone must have wet the bed and either not told the staff, or the staff did not remove it once notified. I had to sleep on a very uncomfortable twin sized roll away bed. In the morning, we went to get a bottle of water from the mini bar, and the mini bar wasn't even turned on. However, the resort had a resort fee it charges in addition to the regular room rate but thought was too expensive, I recommend that hotel.” Mar 8, 2006 by
Jason from Coral Gables, FL
“The room was great. Colorful and equipped. Nicely decorated. The private beach is beautiful and the sand is nice and clean. Kayak rental prices are only $15 per 1/2 hour and was fun. The pier is very large and nice. The beach cafe has great food and tropical drinks average priced for key west, which is high at the local restaurants. The hotel is walking distance from Duval street but opposite side of the island from Mallory square but a $10.00 cab ride with tip got us to Mallory square. I would recommend to friends and family.” Mar 8, 2006 by

“Very enjoyable experience overall.” Feb 20, 2006 by

“My husband and I were so happy with the gorgeous views of the beach and walking distance to all the hot spots in Key West. Despite needed construction from Hurricane Wilma, the staff and facilities were great. ” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Feb 19, 2006 by

“The front desk help were no help. The messed up information about using the internet, they charged us an unwarranted fee, a lamp in the room had no bulb, friends were in a room with lukewarm which they reported and was never fixed. Parking was terrible.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Feb 17, 2006 by

“Great value would go back, great access to downtown key west.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Feb 16, 2006 by

“Great rooms, very clean with timely but not too early service of rooms, including a nightly turn-down service. My only complaint is that our room did not come with a coffee pot. There is a very nice pool and the beach is clean and extremely close. Cozy but not very romantic because your balcony may face the outdoor hallways or other rooms. Parking was easy at the resort, but not on other places on the island. I recommend to ditch the rental car and get bikes. The popular spots can be quite a walk, so if plan to stay out late at the bars, a cab ride is about $6-8 - make sure your driver takes Simonton and not Duval.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jan 19, 2006 by

“We really enjoyed staying at the Reach Resort. It is located close enough to walk to Duval street and lots of Cafe's and shops. Offers free garage parking, however there is a $14 daily fee. The hotel reminded us of an all-inclusive resort in Mexico we stayed at for our honeymoon. The nicest thing about it is the pool and private beach area, we spent the whole day relaxing in the sun. For anyone who has not been to Key West it is one of our favorite places in the world. Soak up the sun in the day, watch a picture perfect sunset at Mallory's square, and party all night (most clubs and bars do not have covers). So far the Reach Resort has been our favorite place to stay. We will return.” 2 of 5 people found this review helpful.Jan 15, 2006 by

“The reach is in process or renovations. Best to wait until they are done. We had no phone, no paper, no coffee, loud jack hammers, dirty rooms, dingy looking place except pool and beach. hot tub partially worked, looked dirty.” 3 of 3 people found this review helpful.Jan 15, 2006 by

“The reach hotel was on a perfect location. Almost on the beach, near Dual street and most Southern Point. Although there was construction work at the time we were there we'd love our stay at this hotel. The room was not up to our expectations. View of our room and location of the hotel were perfect.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jan 14, 2006 by

“Free parking was a bonus for Key West. Near Duval St., so easy to walk and does not have to wait for shuttles like other resorts in the area. But the hotel is at the opposite end of Mallory Square and the sunset festivities, so we had to walk a lot. Nice private beach with staff to bring you lawn chairs and lay out your towels. As with other Key West hotels, this is an older facility. Do not expect the posh Wyndam that you are used to.” 0 of 2 people found this review helpful.Jan 9, 2006 by

“The service was generally very good. The facilities were acceptable (clean) however there was some construction going on and the building was older. The location was very good. Access to the beach in Key West is unheard of so this is a great benefit. Only complaint is the $10 a day fee if I wanted wireless access.” 0 of 2 people found this review helpful.Jan 7, 2006 by

“This hotel was under construction Very noisy. In addition they charged a $14.00 resort fee that was supposed to include tea or coffee facilities in room. ” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Oct 23, 2005 by

“We requested a king bed at check in and were upgraded to a suite with a king bed. Fabulous. Other than that, the location is great, the service was great, the room was great, housekeeping accommodating to requests to be made up by a certain time.” 1 of 4 people found this review helpful.Oct 21, 2005 by

“The supervisor, Theresa said that due to a wedding, there was nothing that could be done about the noise level, even at 11:30 pm. I felt that the doors to the ball room could have been closed, so that the rest of the resort guests didn't have to hear beyond singing at that hour of the night. They could do nothing at this hotel for me, I had to pack up and move to their sister hotel, the Casa Marina, down the block where I was treated wonderfully. I also received a room upgrade and the manager on staff, Monday afternoon apologized for the lack of professionalism that I received earlier at the Resort.” 5 of 5 people found this review helpful.Oct 21, 2005 by

“A clean and neat atmosphere with small private beach. Pool and hot tub open 24 hours a plus, parking is poorly arranged but ample for the area. Close to anything in Key West.” 1 of 3 people found this review helpful.Oct 10, 2005 by

“Great staff, received a free upgrade to a junior suite upon check in!! The beach was very nice, seemed to be one of the only resorts w/ a swimming beach. Smaller but nice pool area, friendly pool staff! Couple minor drawbacks, little fly/bugs were in the kitchenette area, and the paint on the outside of the hotel in a couple areas was chipping-not a big deal!” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Oct 10, 2005 by

“The buildings were dilapidated and not well maintained. There were parts of the parking garage and banisters that looked like serious safety issues, they were held up with temporary braces. Everything needed to be thrown out and updated. Just because they deliver a paper to your door every morning, doesn't make them a resort.” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Oct 4, 2005 by

“Room was adequate, reasonably clean, decor ok, although I feel the $105 per night we paid was too much, considering we were hit for another $14.00 for Resort fees- we only used the pool...Outside of hotel is old looking, needs a major paint job. Pool and surrounding areas were clean. Wouldn't book this hotel again, although we have stayed here before, the quality was never this bad previously.” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Aug 31, 2005 by

“We stayed at this hotel during hurricane Katrina. We expected some problems. However, the staff was stingy with towels (and our room was leaking from the ceiling, windows and doors), the TV did not work, the restaurant ran out of food, we were not given a key for the honor bar and there was mold in the toilet. Other problems were understandable given the weather conditions. Despite the myriad of difficulties the hotel still charged us a ridiculous "resort fee." An aging hotel, not worth the price.” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Aug 25, 2005 by

“ you would expect to be in the area where all the tourist attractions are or have another option. You have the whole city in one geographic location. This hotel was far from Mallory Square, bars, resturants and attractions. Driving to the area and parking is usually not an option unless you want to pay a significant fee. Not a good choice for anyone over the age of 20 who didn't want to walk or ride a bike 3 miles to do most things. Would not recommend this hotel to others.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 24, 2005 by

“The hotel was in an excellent location. It was being renovated, but this was not made to be a problem for the guests. The service was friendly and courteous. I highly recommend this hotel ” 0 of 2 people found this review helpful.Aug 19, 2005 by

“While hotels in Key West are not that great (I have yet to see one that compares to a true resort somewhere else), this hotel was ok. It certainly didn't warrent a resort cost (or additional $15 per day fee). We were placed in a back room facing the street and a major construction area and after requesting an upgrade because of the loud noise and ants, were told to give them another amount per day. The pool was ok, the service pool side was excellent. Overall it was an ok trip.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 17, 2005 by

“This is a great resort hotel. The only downside is hotel charged additional daily mandatory resort fees. These fees should have been included. unpleasant!” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jul 29, 2005 by

“Only regret was I did not try out the outstanding restaurant "Shulas" sooner in our visit. It is the best restaurant on the island. I would have eaten there more times had I only known it was so terrific. Also the butterfly conservatory only a block away was truly outstanding and totally relaxing, beach personnel was super, spa massage above expectations, room maid service was one of the best I have ever experienced. Hotel did a super job of clean up and bringing hotel back to standards, after all a week earlier a hurricane dropped tons of decaying seaweed on its front door step. Only complaint was the additonal charges of $15.00 a day for beach service for two days I did not get a chance to use or even be at the resort, late arrival and early departure dates.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jul 28, 2005 by

“I feel cheated! This was not a "Resort" in quality at all...the Comfort Inn in Key West is nicer! This place is run-down. Only the resturant, a "Shula's" steak house, was nice.” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.
