“Hotel guest parking should be waived ($20.00 per day). The hotel sits in the middle of Duvall Street. Everyone at the hotel walk to surrounding events.” Aug 29, 2008 by
Vickie from Seal Beach, CA
“This hotel is located in a great location if you are a party animal and love to drink until 4 am. The whole area is party central and the bars do not close till 4 am. The people outside are so loud that it is hard to sleep. Not to mention all of the Harley motorcycle noise. The rooms are extremely small. The TV is shoved into a corner. The rooms are extremely noisy. You can hear your neighbors talk. The worst thing about it was the bathroom is so small that you practically had to straddle the toilet to close the bathroom door. I do have to say that the maid service was good.” Aug 25, 2008 by
Gert from Kearny, NJ
“Cocks everywhere!” Aug 8, 2008 by
Adam G. from Odessa, FL
“I had a great time in the keys with my friends. Next time I go back I'll definitely be staying at the Crowne Plaza Hotel again. Great location on Duval St. Easy access to the night life.” Aug 3, 2008 by
Donald from Citrus Springs, FL
“Centrally located, clean, friendly staff.” Jul 29, 2008 by
Dyann from Marathon, FL
“Clean, comfortable, our room was small, but much larger ones are available. We did not go to the pool area so I can't comment on the family friendliness. Good for party animals, right on Duval Street.” Jul 24, 2008 by
Adrian from Palm Harbor, FL
“This hotel was nice. It is beautiful old building that has been nicely updated. My wife, daughter and myself were traveling on vacation. The room was small (one queen bed). However, they did provide a roll away twin for my daughter. The room was rather small. Nicely furnished. We were in a smoking room. The people staying next door were heavy smokers and it smelled very bad and seemed to drift under the connecting doors to the rooms. We rolled a towel up and put it under the door, but it didn't help much. All our clothes smelled from the smoke.” Jul 11, 2008 by
Christin from Elizabethtown, PA
“This was the second time we stayed at this hotel. The rooms were clean and spacious. The desk staff was some of the most competent, friendly and helpful of any of the hotels at which I've stayed in a long time. I highly recommend this hotel if you're going to Key West. We won't stay anywhere else on the island.” Jun 29, 2008 by
Jennifer from Alpharetta, GA
“The location couldn't be better. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel, room is beautiful in appearance and kept very clean. There is also a great view of the area from the top of the hotel!” Jun 15, 2008 by
Ronit from Herzlia, IL
“It is definitely not a 3 star hotel.” Jun 8, 2008 by
Diane from Jenkintown, PA
“Very convenient w/ a nice atmosphere. Plenty to do within walking distance of hotel.” May 26, 2008 by
Mary E. from Dayton, OH
“Would definitely stay again. Was in a great location, away from the more rowdy, tacky part of Key West.” Apr 24, 2008 by
Manmeet from Waldorf, MD
“Poor - very noisy - very small rooms - not enough elevators and very small too only a few people can go up and down at a time tight hallways small heated swimming pool in Florida no regular pool.” Apr 11, 2008 by
Thomas from Dallas, TX
“The hotel is right in the heart of Key West and Duval street. When we checked in they didn't have the room we requested, we had asked for a king non-smoking instead we had a double smoking. The staff was amazing in fixing the mistake. The concierge staff was amazing with finding us things to do that weren't super touristy everyday. The room was tiny and seemed very stuffy. The windows are screwed shut so no fresh air in the room. The closet was not large enough to even fit our suitcases. The hotel was remodeled a few years back but was done cheaply. The hotel pool was too small and during peak times was too full to be able to use. The gym facility was horrible. Three pieces of cardio equipment and nothing else. If you are going to stay in Key West stay at one of the small guest houses much nicer and cheaper.” Mar 29, 2008 by
Erin from Charleroi, PA
“Excellent location and great value for the money.” Mar 27, 2008 by
Tao from Deerfield Beach, FL
“This hotel was full of Spring Breakers. There were about 15 of them in the room next to us. The halls and lobbies were filthy and much of the furniture in the room was covered with dust. The rug smelled like vomit. Food trays sat outside the hotel rooms for hours. The cleaning service lost one of my shirts.” Mar 21, 2008 by
Michael from Fayetteville, NC
“Nicely located, attractive decor - this hotel has a lot of potential. HOWEVER - we stayed here during spring break '08, and the staff was incapable of controlling the mayhem. They allowed obviously underage drinkers/partiers/people YELLING at all hours of the day/night, very bad indeed. The bar tenders were extremely rude and quite obviously drunk. The front desk was unable to send out our laundry, even after 3 attempts! One bar tender went so far as to send us free drinks to "buy our silence", because he was so drunk and was serving underage partiers in the rooftop bar. We do not recommend this hotel to anyone. This was our honeymoon, which they virtually ruined, with no concern or care in the world. A better business complaint is in order.” Feb 28, 2008 by
Martha from Bemus Point, NY
“I was very dissatisfied the second night because of the rushing water in the walls. It went from 4:30a.m. until 6:00 a.m. When I told management they said they had no complaints. I talked to the manager and he said it could have been ghosts.” Feb 25, 2008 by
Daniel from Yuma, AZ
“Overall this hotel was excellent. Location was fabulous. Hotel staff was excellent, restaurant was good. The hotel suffered from being old, thus it was not able to keep up with cable and Internet (technological) services. There was a $10.50/day charge for Internet, and sometimes it took me 1/2 day to connect to the Internet.” Feb 14, 2008 by
Stephanie from Toledo, OH
“This hotel was very beautiful and conveniently located to Duval St; however the noise level outside at night was loud. The walls in the room were the thinnest ever the men in the room next to us got in at 3:30am and we could hear every word of their argument, and then later could hear one of them snoring like a freight train. Their rooftop has a gorgeous view; however at sunset it seemed everyone in key west that was not a guest was there to see it.” Feb 2, 2008 by
Jan from Sutton, WV
“It is a great hotel overall. Very convenient. They provide you with ear plugs, night mask, and things for a tranquil sleep. Very accommodating. The concierge is great! I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Key West.” Feb 1, 2008 by
Lorrie W. from Spokane, WA
“Very friendly, helpful staff. Very clean rooms. Had to pay $19.00 a day for parking on hotel property. Would like to have had a refrigerator in the room. Overall, beautiful hotel; would stay again.” Jan 27, 2008 by
Kim from Sunrise, FL
“Very nice hotel in a great location. The room was beautiful and a nice size with a view of the pool. Within easy walking distance to the water as well as to restaurants, shopping and bars.” Jan 14, 2008 by
Sandra from Fairfax, VA
“Great location. You can walk to all the Downtown Activities. Fabulous roof top view. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful.” Jan 1, 2008 by
Marti from Pembroke Pines, FL
“Great location. Nice beds. Room we had was with window looking out on Courtyard and we had to keep the drapes closed. Light shone in from edges at night. We were charged an extra $19 per day for parking.” Dec 26, 2007 by
James from Locust Grove, GA
“Great place to stay!” Nov 7, 2007 by
Jim from Glen Ellyn, IL
“This is a great hotel to really get a good feeling of key west. It is clean, slightly classy and is in the middle of everything. The rooftop deck is great for drinks and watching the sunset. The rooftop pool is well arranged, includes a well stocked bar overlooking duval street.” Oct 18, 2007 by
Jeff from Steamboat Springs, CO
“Great location with clean, very nice rooms. The rooms were a little small and expensive but that is to be expected given the location.” Oct 18, 2007 by
Steve from Port Charlotte, FL
“We were given a room on the 6th floor only to find out that the elevators were not working. The hotel was booked so a room change was not possible. We were not happy about having to climb 12 flights of stairs (2 flights per floor) every time we left or returned to our room. The walls are thin and you can hear everything that goes on in the rooms next to you, in the hallway and outside of the hotel. The hotel does not provide free parking to guests but does allow you to park your vehicle for a fee of $19.00 per day. In my opinion, what this hotel charges to stay with them is far too costly compared to what benefits the guest receives. We will not stay here again.” Oct 5, 2007 by
Alan from Suamico, WI
“Loved the location if you were looking for access to Duval street. Friendly staff, great view from the roof, small room. Would stay here again.” Sep 12, 2007 by
Del from Lutz, FL
“Nice staff, clean facilities, hotel food werent best I had during trip and bar were lackluster. Pool bartender was cool, watched a football game there.” Aug 29, 2007 by
Mitch from Alpharetta, GA
“We really liked the Crowne Plaza Key West. The location was perfect being right on Duval Street. The room was not huge, but big enough and clean. You don't stay at the Crowne Plaza if you want a view of the ocean or sunsets.” Aug 21, 2007 by
Konrad from Ozark, MO
“Location is great. The rooms and hotel had great character and really carried a historic feel. But the non-smoking room I received reeked of cigarette smoke (the flowers I purchased for the room later really masked the smell after the first night, so we felt better then). Service is relaxed-island atmosphere service i.e., it is subject to mood, time of day, and who you speak with. Between the non-working equipment in the room, the closed restaurant, the inability to recognize a special occasion and help on romantic ideas like flowers or a fruit basket for a late morning breakfast, I found it easier to act as my own concierge, go to the local grocery store, and pick out my own flowers and fruit basket (money was not really an option, I wanted flowers and a late morning breakfast, but the hotel couldn't recognize a romantic fool). The front desk staff terminated phone calls {twice} when I just wanted help, such as a new iron at 6:30 in the morning (no-one is available until 7:30 from housekeeping). I would have been better off at a Hampton Inn if it was service I was looking for. However, the location was fantastic. This was a very centrally located spot on Duval Street. It is an island, after all.” Aug 19, 2007 by
John/ P. from Saint Louis, MO
“Everything was ok except the lack of air-conditioning.” Aug 19, 2007 by
June from Sarasota, FL
“I should get at least half or entire refund since there were extensive renovations going on. Restaurant was closed; pool is a dangerous area, with slick tile and missing tiles surrounding the pool.” Aug 13, 2007 by
Sue-Z from Staten Island, NY
“Our hotel experience was good. The location is the best in Key West, can't be topped for hanging out on Duval Street then stumbling back, especially when it's 100 degrees outside. There's a great lounge on the top floor for panoramic views of the island. The room was clean but a bit small, with simple old-fashioned furnishings and a dark decor. The bathroom tile and fixtures were also old-fashioned, though the towels and toiletries were befitting of the upscale rating. It's really a matter of preference - I can't bash the hotel quality, it's comfortable while maintaining that classic Key West feel. The pool is tiny and the towel supply wasn't refreshed during the hour we were there, but there is a poolside bar to keep you busy while you're waiting. It would have been nice if the lobby were air conditioned. There's a $19 parking fee but you'll be glad you have somewhere central to leave the car.” Aug 2, 2007 by
Adam from Massillon, OH
“Excellent location for walking Duvall St. Shop all you want, then drop off your heavy bags and go shop some more. Take a nap, get ready, and go back out for the great night activities. Staff was friendly, bed comfortable. Highly recommended.” Jul 29, 2007 by
Jerry from Fort Lauderdale, FL
“A place I will return to in the near future!” Jul 29, 2007 by
Tonya from Mont Belvieu, TX
“I went there with my 13 year old son and his friend. When we pulled up both of the boys expressed concern about our safety just from looking at the outside of the hotel. After going inside and checking in, we found that the room was dingy and dark and the pool was green and unusable. I had work to do and my whole point was to have a pool for the boys to entertain themselves which wasn't possible. This trip was much the same. Crowne Plaza put us on the 4th floor where they were doing construction and the A/C wasn't working. When we complained the next day they did move us, but I believe we were put there because we weren't paying full price and if they could get away with it they were planning to leave us there. The room we moved to was better, but still the hotel overall was somewhat dirty and warm with lots of construction noise.” Jul 28, 2007 by
David A. from Coral Springs, FL
“Carpeting in room filthy], most lighting out of order needed bulb replacements, A/C thermostat broken and not adjustable, parking not available after paying for it, pool was just a wading one for children, drilling in hotel's outer wall right under our room every morning. Far from a 3 star property, very disappointed.” Jul 26, 2007 by
Beth from Brunswick, GA
“The location was great. The bathroom was very small. The lobby area is the only place for internet access and it was very hot in there. We also saw a large rat in the window of the hotel while we were sitting in the lobby. I was not comfortable after seeing the rat.” Jul 8, 2007 by
Crystal from Nashville, TN
“Hotel was located perfectly on Duval Street. Staff was friendly - especially Thomas the bellman. The hotel restaurant was good. The pool was way too small and smelled vaguely of puke.” Jun 21, 2007 by
Joyce from Boynton Beach, FL
“The hotel was beautiful and in a great location. It overlooked a building that we were able to watch a family of rats feeding. That was our only view. There was a dirty facecloth in the shower when we arrived and on Saturday when they "cleaned the room" they did not even leave a bath mat.” Jun 18, 2007 by
Rubin from Elgin, SC
“Hotel looks very old. The price is too much. Rooms are very small. Rest of the things is ok. Parking was $19 per day. Little too much.” Jun 12, 2007 by
Donna from Estero, FL
“Okay and convenient to restaurants, attractions. Staff was helpful and courteous.” Jun 6, 2007 by
Anthony from Tampa, FL
“Overall an excellent/outstanding experience! Will recommend your hotel to all I meet!” May 29, 2007 by
John from Cape Coral, FL
“Nice location clean hotel.” May 26, 2007 by
Bruce from Mullica Hill, NJ
“This is a fine hotel. The staff should have notified us that the wing we were given was having external construction. It was very noisy.” May 22, 2007 by
Joe from Brookfield, IL
“Over price for what your get, you can hear persons talking in other rooms, you can hear people using bathrooms next to your room above and below. They do give you ear plugs for this. dead give away to not go there again. Also, price changed between when I sign up to when I got there.” May 21, 2007 by
Ben from Murrells Inlet, SC
“This is a great location for key west, right in the heart of the attractions, bars, etc. very nice and very clean hotel. Exceeded my expectations. The only whine I have is that I would like the wifi available in the rooms; it was only in the lobby area.”
