“The service was good, it was relatively clean, but the room was cheaply done, and I could not tell for sure if the bed had been changed. It had cheap towels and wash cloths that were not bleached white. The lobby was nice. Cheap breakfast, only cereal bagels, and sweat pastry. I was not told about the breakfast when I checked in. Had to call in the morning to ask about it.” Jul 31, 2008 by
Dottie from Lake Park, FL
“Nice, clean, could of used more breakfast selections. I would stay again if my travels took me to N. Ft. Myers.” Jun 19, 2008 by
Laura
“My husband says I'm very critical. We rented two rooms, both appeared very clean, but reaked with the smell of mold (which is something that put him in the hospital at one point and time.) He has done nothing but cough from the time we entered the hotel. It's 2 days later and yes, he's still coughing. Staff was very friendly and helpful.” Apr 2, 2008 by
Stacie from Titusville, FL
“The hotel was in a nice area, the service was good and friendly. The actual rooms were in disrepair and they had an odor. The air conditioning was cold.” Mar 4, 2008 by
Joan from Lakeland, FL
“Overall nice room for a Level 1. Good location only problem was with bathroom.” Feb 25, 2008 by
Brandy from Holland, MI
“Great stay for the price. Nice staff.” Feb 22, 2008 by
James from Apple Valley, MN
“This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I could hear people in the room above like they were in my room. It stunk like smoke and mildew but they would not move me.” Feb 22, 2008 by
Kurt from Toledo, OH
“This hotel provides excellent hospitality at a reasonable price except for the continental breakfast. It is handy to Fort Myers and major routes.” Feb 19, 2008 by
Jonathan from Dresden, ON CA
“I was expecting a little better service. There were no blankets or extra pillows, for the pullout couch. The rooms were dirty, and it seemed like the construction workers left there equipment all over. It made you feel like you were intruding and not really supposed to be there.” Feb 6, 2008 by
Steve from W Babylon, NY
“Location was great. Staff was friendly. Room was a disaster. Rip in fabric of couch. Holes in wall. Unpainted sections of wall. OK for quick business trip. Other than that, stay away.” Jan 3, 2008 by
Harold from Tampa, FL
“I would not stay anywhere near this hotel! Do not stay here, unless you like to sleep with bugs (roaches).” Jul 30, 2007 by
Doug from Berryville, VA
“This place is a dump. However, if you enjoy having gang bangers and hookers congregate outside your door loudly conducting business until 5 a.m. and you enjoy a completely unresponsive front desk and hotel manager, then this dump is for you.” May 21, 2007 by
Kem from Aubrey, TX
“Room service was not pleased with. ” Apr 3, 2007 by
Sean from Montour Falls, NY
“The room was advertised as having in-room wifi access and it did not. The coffee filters were the wrong type for the brewer in the lobby - result was coffee filled with grounds, very yucky gobs and gobs of coffee grounds. The first day I chocked it up to a bad day. The second day I thought somebody really needs to fix this. The third day and same result -copies amounts of coffee grounds in the coffee - icky yuk. The tension in the room was awful as customers complained about the coffee grounds and the hotel staff didn't seem to be able to fix it. On the fourth day the girl who made the coffee burned her hand and I ended up going to the supermarket and buying some coffee filters. The coffee filters and the lack of wifi were disappointing. I asked the desk clerk if they could arrange a service appointment to fix the wifi and was told the network guru was overseas and could not be reached. Very disappointing. The room cleaning staff and desk employees were very good and exceeded my expectations but the coffee incident and lack of wifi was a downer. No one seemed to care very much about fixing any of this at the time so it's a little late to be asking about the experience at this point.” Apr 2, 2007 by
Lauren from Clearwater, FL
“This is the kind of hotel that I enter once and do not leave my room until daylight. The room smelled of thick room freshener, and the bathroom was mildew and stained with dirt. Overall met my expectation as a cheep motel which is I assume all I can expect for the money spent.” Mar 27, 2007 by
Laura from Miami, FL
“This hotel was shameful. Roaches were the first thing I saw walking into the room. Then dirty towels that were assorted shades of gray rather than white and so old there was practically no towel left to them. The bathtub and shower stall was horrific with mold in every crack and crevice and I can't even describe the bottom of the tub. Most of the lights didn't work in the room. There were holes in the sheets. The dead bolt on the door didn't lock and there was only some poorly installed chain on the door. They attempted to repaint the room, but there was paint spray all over everything from all the mirrors to all the furniture. All the painting was for not anyway because the clientele that stays there have already ruined the paint on the walls with scuff marks and splatters of God only knows what.” Mar 14, 2007 by
Brad from Tampa, FL
“My family and I enjoyed our stay. The rooms were neat and clean. The staff was very nice. The pool was clean and had a terrific view of the river. It is in a very good location and the price was right.” Mar 13, 2007 by
Richard from Hermitage, TN
“This room was sufficient for any of my stays in the fort Myers area, although I would certainly not expect to pay as much as we did for this type of hotel. A nice place to stay, but not worth to me, and this was the cheapest available in the area. I probably won't be returning due to the price, not due to the quality of the hotel.” Feb 26, 2007 by
James from Montgomery, AL
“Hotel was an average 2 star. They were out of allotting of breakfast items so we couldn't eat.” Feb 20, 2007 by
Graeme from Ottawa, ON CA
“Must miss! There was a foul odor to the room even though it was designated non-smoking, the coffee maker had paint spray presumably from the last time that they had painted; the room was quite dirty and unkempt. Need I say more? I cannot recommend this hotel.” Feb 17, 2007 by
Richard from Orlando, FL
“It was an okay stay but will not rebook.” Jan 27, 2007 by
John from Lakeland, FL
“Good for business man. Internet works well in lobby but not rooms.” Jan 18, 2007 by
Sandy from Orlando, FL
“The people were friendly and the price beat any that we had checked out. We stay at a lot of hotels and this one was clean but needed a little work.” Dec 13, 2006 by
R. J. from Pompano Beach, FL
“Comfortable facility with Riverview available. Breakfast is good with fresh hot waffles. This hotel is better than the rating indicates. The staff was polite and friendly. Location to restaurants, downtown, and shipping is good. This hotel would be my second choice, but only because the location is not the most convenient for my purposes.” Jul 4, 2006 by
Doug
“Hotel was undergoing renovation and everything was a mess - parking lot sidewalks, general grounds. Bathtub in room had large hole in bottom and was covered by plastic, toilet did not flush well, etc.” Jun 1, 2006 by
Kat from Bronson, FL
“This worked for my particular visit, however the TV channels barely worked even though they advertised cable and HBO. The internet is unsecured, which caused me to have a lot of pop ups. Paint was chipping off the walls, however the room was cleaned daily very well all supplies were there, and I felt safe in this location. Overall it was an ok stay...” May 31, 2006 by
Carmen from Tampa, FL
“I asked the clerk to move us to another non smoking room and he said that was the only room available, which I knew it was not true since I heard him telling someone on the phone that he had rooms available for that night, while I was checking in.” May 20, 2006 by
William from S Daytona, FL
“The continental breakfast was unsatisfactory - they ran out of everything. The room was well worn. The staff reeked of alcohol or was rude.” Apr 30, 2006 by
Rock from St Cloud, FL
“For the price was okay. Microtel's are a much better value for the price. Room was clean but worn. A touch on the gritty-side. Probably won't stay there again.” Apr 11, 2006 by
Lillian from W. Los Angeles, CA
“One and never again! Door look broken, could not open electronic door lock anymore, all my stuff inside (car key, wallet etc). While trying to open cut my hand. Had to wait for more than an hour and a half outside the door until somebody finally came to break the look to get my stuff out and move me to another room. First room non smoking but with very strong smell of smoke, 2nd room several things not in working conditions, light bulbs not replaced, toilet flush broken, carpet loose etc. No housekeeping service the next day Just very lousy service. At 5.30 requesting housekeeping service the answer was: Nobody here anymore - left already home. High speed Internet access OK for 5 minutes then signal out for several hours, back for a few minutes out for several hours. There were plenty of other accommodation a whole lot cheaper like the Baymont Inn in Bonita Springs for 59USD with excellent service and great rooms. Booking the Howard Johnson Express N. Fort Myers was 10USD more expensive than booking for the standard rate at the hotel directly. Standard rate for the room I got Queen 69.99USD. As AAA member I would have received a discounted rate and save a whole lot more. This was a lesson for me. The first one was a very nice experience with the Homestead in Clearwater. But the risk of ending in such lousy property is for me not worth if no savings can be optained. Due to your service fees I ended up paying 152USD instead of 144USD at the hotel directly and was not able to” Apr 6, 2006 by
Julia B. from Roanoke, IN
“This hotel is well maintained on the outside, but definitely needs painted on the inside. The pool was the best attraction and was kept up very well.” Mar 16, 2006 by
Beth from Pittsfield, MA
“The actual hotel was fine, with a good location and clean rooms, but the staff was not helpful at all. I had requested a handicap accessible room. It was just a request and basically too bad. I found this very upsetting as my Mom is in a wheelchair and having the accessible room makes it much easier for her and it isn't like requesting 2 beds, this is something that we wish we didn't need.” Feb 27, 2006 by
Michael from Tampa, FL
“The Hotel view is very nice. The rooms are starting to show some use.” Feb 27, 2006 by
Jason from Miramar, FL
“I would stay here for work, but not for a family trip.” Feb 20, 2006 by
Brandon from Winter Garden, FL
“When I got to my room the door was open and chairs were on top of the bed. I called the front desk and they said that the carpet and furniture was cleaned that day and she apologized. I said it was ok, at least I know they clean their rooms well and are maintained. Very nice experience.” Nov 16, 2005 by
Neil from Ft Ripley, MN
“Outside area and pool very pretty and well maintained. Guest laundry filthy, although functional. Had to wear shoes in the room or your feet were black. Other than the carpet, the rooms were fairly clean.” Mar 8, 2005 by
Karen from Lake Placid, FL
“Perfect location for North Fort Myers. We went to a Red Sox game and it was only 5 minutes away.” Feb 27, 2005 by
Tom from Chincoteague, VA
“Not bad but needs work on some basic issues, advertised high speed internet not) had problems in room with electric unable to fix. breakfast needed staffed always running out of something..” Feb 17, 2005 by
Chery from Collierville, TN
“They were in remodeling, the lobby was tore up , area was just ok ,the halls were dirty, door was questionable. Was the worst and most exspensive room.” Feb 16, 2005 by
Scott from Mount Dora, FL
“It used to be a hampton inn, but not even close now. There was MOLD in the shower...and not just in one little area. Carpet was dirty, and towels and other people's hair stuck in them,” Feb 13, 2005 by
Stephen from Walkerton, IN
“They were in the midst of renovation. It was very quiet - a big plus. Towels had bugs on them three times. Coffee pot didn't work. Wardrobe closet smelled funny. Scenery was great, liked the sunrises over the river. Complimentary breakfast was good and area kept relatively clean.” Feb 1, 2005 by
Ann from Coral Springs, FL
“they are renovating the rooms due to the hurricanes last season. It was o.k. other than the bathroom door not staying closed.” Sep 30, 2004 by
Bernadette W. from Tampa, FL “The stay in Fort Meyers, except the fact that we had to evacuate for hurricane Jeanne, was very friendly and inviting at the hotel. It is owned by the most concerned people I have ever met. They surely deserve more business. They are new owners and went out of their way to make us comfortable and safe during hard times. The area where the hotel is was hit hard by the two previous hurricanes, but the staff was only concerned with our needs, not what they have lost. The area is just beautiful and centrally located for all your needs.” Sep 9, 2004 by
Donna T. from Appleton “I understand the hotel rating only was one star economy. But even still, we never should have had bugs in our room or musty odor. The room was unclean and just plain yucky. Not only that, but few of the electrical outlets worked, one of the outlets popped and snapped and then smoked. I would like a refund!”
