“A wounderful place to stay to feel the old charm of Greenville while being close to the more modern conveniences. Would recommend to business and traveling couples.” Nov 16, 2009 by
Steve p from Bethlehem,GA
“This is an old hotel that has been kept in tip top shape. Modern sprinkler system fast elevators, all the room electronics with classic looks and charm.” Jul 18, 2009 by
John from Myrtle Beach,SC
“Great location. Helpful staff. Very comfortable. Hotel lacks some common amenities that most hotels, for the same price, seem to have.” Nov 22, 2008 by
John from Sea Island,GA
“I have stayed at this hotel before and it always is very clean, great service, friendly employees and meets my expectations as a 4 star hotel.” Oct 31, 2008 by
Reagan from Greenville, SC
“Great location is about it. Ambiance of old setting but in major need of upgrades. Westin hotels are known for quality, class and this is not a good one. We had guests in town for convention and decided to stay there. Major mistake. We were stuck on the elevator for almost an hour with no air, no light and not to mention the staff did not notify the police/fire department for until we had been on there 30 minutes! By the time one of the ladies on the elevator was hyperventilating and on the ground we were let out it was a mess. Even after the soft beds and nice views of downtown I never want to return and would not recommend to anyone. One of their workers was even on the elevator and we had not a word that they were trying to get us out until I called 911 myself. Please stay down the street at Hilton, much better for the price and location; I would not have wanted this to happen to anyone. If George Clooney was on there it would not have taken an hour to get him off so why us?” Oct 30, 2008 by

“Checking in from the adjacent garage is a real challenge, something we learned too late. Better signage would direct those checking in to the front circle first. We were initially assigned a room adjacent to a very loud wedding reception that also inexplicably had a roll-away bed in it. The hotel staff accommodated our insistence on relocating but this was a hassle that should have been avoided. A more professional staff would have known not to assign that room when others were available. Our room was sizeable, clean and comfortable but with a tiny window making it dark during the day and a curtain that would not close completely, emitting light at night. The bathroom was clean and functional with an excellent shower. This place just falls short of being really sharp. Front desk staff was not particularly responsive. A lamp in the room was unplugged; our key was improperly programmed and did not work on the second day. We enjoyed our stay but having stayed also at the Hampton Inn a couple of blocks away on this same trip, given a choice, we'd return there instead.” Sep 16, 2008 by

“A very nice hotel overall.” Aug 14, 2008 by
Jim from Salem, SC
“Located in the heart of Greenville. Easy walk parks, cultural activities, and restaurants.” Jul 29, 2008 by
Patrick from Pickens, SC
“The Westin is a great hotel in a great location in beautiful downtown Greenville. It's within walking distance of most of the downtown attractions and restaurants. The room was spacious and nicely decorated. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. My wife and I had a great time spending our anniversary at the Westin Poinsett.” May 20, 2008 by
Regina from Liberty, SC
“Beautiful hotel in beautiful Downtown Greenville.” May 13, 2008 by
Victor from Anderson, SC
“Excellent! I would definitely return for another visit.” May 9, 2008 by
Michelle from Waldorf, MD
“The hotel was very lovely from the lobby area to the guest rooms. The only complaint that my husband and I had were in regards to the lack of wireless internet access and the lack of a minibar or refrigerator. It would have been really nice to have them.” May 7, 2008 by
Darrell from Macon, GA
“The overall review of the hotel was very good, would come back. Staff was polite and friendly.” Apr 30, 2008 by
John from Duluth, GA
“The Westin Poinsett is located on Main Street in the center of downtown Greenville, SC, in the middle of the historic renewal section of town. It is extremely convenient for parks, restaurants, shops, entertainment etc. The hotel's ambiance was great, the staff was great. The only complaint we had was that there was no pool and it seemed to be in need of a slight bit of TLC in the public areas.” Apr 20, 2008 by
James from Midlothian, VA
“The hotel is located in a very convenient location in downtown Greenville. The bathroom is rather small and the television is older. However, the beds are very comfortable and the room is clean.” Apr 17, 2008 by
Cory from Mount Pleasant, SC
“Location is great. But the hotel is very old and in need of some major renovation. The bed was supposed to be a heavenly bed, but it was very uncomfortable and didn't have any padding or even a fitted sheet. Pillows were very flat. For a 4 star hotel, I expected at least a flat screen TV, not a 19 inch outdated TV. The bar was not open when I was craving a drink. The bell staff was very helpful and some of the front desk employees were great too. Overall it should not be classified as a 4 star hotel. I stay at Westin's all the time and never have been this upset as I was with my wife.” Apr 10, 2008 by
Andrea from Avon Lake, OH
“Great location and wonderful service. Great way to explore Greenville.” Apr 8, 2008 by
Dave from Boiling Springs, SC
“The staff was nice but again our bag man was very helpful. The bartender was great and so helpful for us also! The bed was so soft and comfortable, however if you are looking for a (standard) nicely decorated room, this is not a "WOW" room. The bathrooms were very plain but did have a double shower head. Our view was not very good; we could only see the side of another building. The curtains were nice and thick so that the sun didn't shine through to wake us the next morning until we were ready to wake up. The housekeeper did come to our room 3 times before our checkout (of one night) wanting to come in to clean. Check out was not until 12, which gave us plenty of time and not rushed to get out. The express checkout was great too. There was also a great little restaurant/bar that had a late band playing. It was such a romantic little area, a cozy little cubby area, where we could still see and hear the band. It also had a mini TV in the cubby.” Apr 7, 2008 by
Teal from Thomasville, GA
“Great hotel, great location, great food and a fantastic lobby with a piano player. Just a fun place to stay that is in walking distance of great restaurants, shops, and the park in downtown Greenville.” Apr 5, 2008 by
Julie from Bremen, GA
“I was not impressed with the hotel. The ceiling was peeling in the bathroom. It didn't offer a lot of the amenities that a 4 star hotel offers.” Apr 3, 2008 by
Carmine from Brunswick, OH
“Located in the heart of the city, with no pool, hot tub or sauna. Average food and over rated.” Mar 27, 2008 by
Jim from Greer, SC
“Lovely hotel and room, however, we were very disappointed at the amount of noise we could hear from the hallway. We could hear, distinctly, each time the room across the hall was entered or exited. Then we heard the maids in the same room talking and listening to the radio. Very loud! We think the doors should be changed to deaden hallway noise.” Mar 27, 2008 by
Jenifer from Jacksonville, FL
“Located in the heart of hip Downtown Greenville. In the evening you can stroll to three or four world class restaurants. The hotel lobby and bar are well appointed, with a terrific pianist at cocktail hour and a really good bartender. Try the martinis. The hotel is up to date but has an old world feeling. Great value for the money.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Mar 26, 2008 by

“I love the Westin properties. They are always so unique and true to the region, rather than plopping down a standard design like other chains. I am originally from Greenville, so I know the history of the "old" Poinsett. I feel like I'm in a movie when I walk in here. It's like going back in time but having the luxury of modern conveniences. I would pay a little more for this hotel than its competitors for that reason.” Mar 13, 2008 by
Gene from Lancaster, PA
“Excellent location in central Downtown Greenville. Large, attractive rooms with great bed. Very hospitable staff added to Southern charm and warmth of hotel.” Mar 13, 2008 by
Curtis from Fountain Inn, SC
“Didn't like my stay at all.” Mar 5, 2008 by
Kelly S. from Honea Path, SC
“Pleasant place to stay! Great location for Downtown. You can dine so many places, walk to concerts, view beautiful sites, one word to describe, incredible!” Mar 4, 2008 by
TravelinGirl from Georgia
“The place is old. There is no food for under $10 a plate and we are talking like each item like $10 for a muffin and $10 for eggs and coffee is like $5-10 dollars. The people are nasty they don't tell you there is a local Mc Donald's and stuff for normal people around the corner when you ask. Their answer is "Not in Downtown"(in other words beneath them or oh how low class). And there is within a few blocks away. There were stains on the carpeting in the room that were unidentifiable. They put bathrobes for you to buy in the closet for $90 that have been used and ripped. There are no gift shops with novelties for people that have key chains and fun things cheap things. The building next door has broken windows and is dirty looking. The hotel itself is not as nice as it looks in the pictures the dining area is smaller so is the lobby. They are over priced. Its definitely for a snob who likes to tell people how to live and what to think and that has no taste or personality and no human qualities. They are not human friendly to smokers. (I don't smoke but a friend that was with me does) They make the warning if they smell smoke or see anything that says you smoked in the room they will charge you a $200 cleaning fee. There is nothing around the area worth seeing or doing. You would go broke on a trip to this hotel everything in it is a gimmick to make more money. They take a credit card to supposedly hold the room and put a $50 hold. If you do not use their Valletta parking before you check in you get a ticket to park and they will charge you for parking instead of just validating it. Once you get the room key its free to park in the lot and get in and out of the lot. Another rip off gimmick. The town itself if a waste of businesses that have gone out or some that are just coming in. The ones coming in are a waste because they have all these expensive over priced items that are not only ugly but they are useless, pointless and unfunny. If youre on a trip business or pleasure you want to enjoy yourself. I give this trip a huge thumbs down it was not fun and it was not up to my standards of living. They have video games that are on a play station system they want to charge you $65 to play. So there is really nothing for a child to do or an adult who is bored. All the business around are over priced and lacking real entertainment. The rooms lacked color and a warm feeling they were very cold and plan. No decoration and what was there reminded you of a funeral parlor in the angels hanging above the beds. I will say the beds were comfortable. But that was the only thing that was good. Nothing fun, nothing enjoyable, no entertainment for the family, Nothing for kids or adults that are big kids. Expensive, way over priced and pretty much a waste of time and money. Lacks the feeling of being human and being able to relax and have a nice time.” Feb 21, 2008 by
Jeff from Atlanta, GA
“Great location to go see Falls Park. Lots of great restaurants and shops right out the front door.” Feb 19, 2008 by
Tim from Phila, PA
“Beautiful, Quaint hotel in a most desirable area.” Feb 11, 2008 by
John from Austin, TX
“Great place to stay for the price.” Feb 9, 2008 by
Allen from Greenville, SC
“I was very disappointed in this hotel with it being a 4 star. I was looking for much more decor then it had. The TV small, the lighting was bad, the room service was good but 1 of the dishes we had to return.” Feb 6, 2008 by
Jon from Wellford, SC
“Great service. Beautiful hotel and a fantastic location to Downtown Greenville. Had wonderful breakfast at hotel restaurant!” Feb 1, 2008 by
Rob from Charleston, SC
“Good hotel in a great location. The rooms are nice; however the bathrooms are small and a little dirty feeling. To be expected for one of the oldest buildings in the city. Great places to eat nearby but rooms are a little overpriced.” Jan 29, 2008 by
Carole from Powder Springs, GA
“When we checked in the hotel, the front desk clerk was rude and almost indignant. I felt un-welcomed. I was uncomfortable for the entire stay. We did not utilize any of the hotel's amenities. We did not even visit the lobby or gift shop - other than to check out. Terrible experience.” Jan 17, 2008 by
Michael from Simpsonville, SC
“Very nice historic hotel in a great location Downtown.” Jan 16, 2008 by
Louise from Marietta, GA
“Recommended for those visiting Greenville for business or leisure. It may be 4-star in terms of other Greenville hotels, but don't expect a typical 4-star experience. In a bigger town with more accommodation choices, this would be a 3-star hotel. However, the room was clean and comfortable and the location was excellent. Beware of the stiff loop inside the collar of the bathrobe - I don't know if mine was defective, but it was uncomfortable to the point of being unwearable.” Dec 5, 2007 by
Nick from Lexington, GA
“Beautiful hotel in a beautiful city. Great location right in downtown. I would stay here again.” Dec 4, 2007 by
Noah from Greenville, SC
“This hotel has a great atmosphere and a great staff. The lobby and dining rooms are beautiful and the food is great. I was expecting a bit more from the rooms. They were nice and clean, but I was expecting a bit more from a 4-star hotel at this price. No complaints about anything.” Nov 30, 2007 by
Joseph from Columbia, SC
“Excellent facility and a satisfying experience.” Nov 14, 2007 by
Wendy from Pendergrass, GA
“Very average hotel. Was expecting luxury, but it wasn't. Bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. Room was average. Rooms very noisy. Could hear in hallway and outside noise.” Nov 11, 2007 by
Mark from Windber, PA
“The Westin, Greenville was a unique and beautifully decorated hotel. The staff was courteous and helpful. Although the rooms are smaller, the Westin is probably the most elegant hotel we saw in Greenville but not quite the standard of other 4 star hotels I have stayed in.” Oct 28, 2007 by
Tanya from Allison Park, PA
“This is an historic renewed hotel. All rooms have been updated and modernized, yet the lobby has the feel of old time charm and elegance. I wish they had a pool as part of their exercise program.” Sep 7, 2007 by
Tony from Noblesville, IN
“The Westin was a great vacation experience. It is located in the heart of downtown Greenville. Downtown Greenville is one of the best places I have ever visited.” Sep 5, 2007 by
Joe from Hartsville, SC
“The room was small. We had hairs in the sink. Missing the TV remote. The alarm clock wasn't turned off so it woke us up early in the morning. The shower drain didn't work so we had to stand in a foot of dirty water while you took a shower.” Aug 15, 2007 by
Dolores from Roswell, GA
“The hotel has the charm and gracious atmosphere that contribute so much to an enjoyable stay. The pianist provides wonderful evening entertainment in a great environment for casual conversation with friends. The hotel has an old-world ambience and is well-maintained.” Aug 3, 2007 by
Cindy from San Rafael, CA
“I like the hotel and found my room charming. I will stay here again.” Jul 30, 2007 by
Eva from Coral Gables, FL
“Would recommend to friends but to ask for things that is supposed to be there.” Jul 25, 2007 by
Bridget from Florence, SC
“Great!” Jun 26, 2007 by
Jeff from Rock Hill, SC
“I took my wife and 6 months old on this business trip. Anything she needed was looked after by the front desk. I will be staying in this hotel for years to come and calling the west in corp. next week. Great service. Downtown, walking distance to everything. 2 miles from the zoo. Great afternoon. Close to all restaurants and shops.”
