• Nothing positive. The bed was comfortable but thats it.
• I have nothing but bad to say about this place.

“The place is old. There is no food for under $10 a plate and we are talking like each item like $10 for a muffin and $10 for eggs and coffee is like $5-10 dollars. The people are nasty they don't tell you there is a local Mc Donald's and stuff for normal people around the corner when you ask. Their answer is "Not in Downtown"(in other words beneath them or oh how low class). And there is within a few blocks away. There were stains on the carpeting in the room that were unidentifiable. They put bathrobes for you to buy in the closet for $90 that have been used and ripped. There are no gift shops with novelties for people that have key chains and fun things cheap things. The building next door has broken windows and is dirty looking. The hotel itself is not as nice as it looks in the pictures the dining area is smaller so is the lobby. They are over priced. Its definitely for a snob who likes to tell people how to live and what to think and that has no taste or personality and no human qualities. They are not human friendly to smokers. (I don't smoke but a friend that was with me does) They make the warning if they smell smoke or see anything that says you smoked in the room they will charge you a $200 cleaning fee. There is nothing around the area worth seeing or doing. You would go broke on a trip to this hotel everything in it is a gimmick to make more money. They take a credit card to supposedly hold the room and put a $50 hold. If you do not use their Valletta parking before you check in you get a ticket to park and they will charge you for parking instead of just validating it. Once you get the room key its free to park in the lot and get in and out of the lot. Another rip off gimmick. The town itself if a waste of businesses that have gone out or some that are just coming in. The ones coming in are a waste because they have all these expensive over priced items that are not only ugly but they are useless, pointless and unfunny. If youre on a trip business or pleasure you want to enjoy yourself. I give this trip a huge thumbs down it was not fun and it was not up to my standards of living. They have video games that are on a play station system they want to charge you $65 to play. So there is really nothing for a child to do or an adult who is bored. All the business around are over priced and lacking real entertainment. The rooms lacked color and a warm feeling they were very cold and plan. No decoration and what was there reminded you of a funeral parlor in the angels hanging above the beds. I will say the beds were comfortable. But that was the only thing that was good. Nothing fun, nothing enjoyable, no entertainment for the family, Nothing for kids or adults that are big kids. Expensive, way over priced and pretty much a waste of time and money. Lacks the feeling of being human and being able to relax and have a nice time.”

“I was very disappointed in this hotel with it being a 4 star. I was looking for much more decor then it had. The TV small, the lighting was bad, the room service was good but 1 of the dishes we had to return.”

“Good hotel in a great location. The rooms are nice; however the bathrooms are small and a little dirty feeling. To be expected for one of the oldest buildings in the city. Great places to eat nearby but rooms are a little overpriced.”

• It was easily accessible from the interstate.
• Hotel staff was indignant and rude.

“When we checked in the hotel, the front desk clerk was rude and almost indignant. I felt un-welcomed. I was uncomfortable for the entire stay. We did not utilize any of the hotel's amenities. We did not even visit the lobby or gift shop - other than to check out. Terrible experience.”

• Location was excellent.
• Bathrobe was horribly uncomfortable - loop inside collar was stiff and stuck into the back of my neck.

“Recommended for those visiting Greenville for business or leisure. It may be 4-star in terms of other Greenville hotels, but don't expect a typical 4-star experience. In a bigger town with more accommodation choices, this would be a 3-star hotel. However, the room was clean and comfortable and the location was excellent. Beware of the stiff loop inside the collar of the bathrobe - I don't know if mine was defective, but it was uncomfortable to the point of being unwearable.”

• The breakfast was wonderful!
• The rooms were somewhat standard. Was expecting something more unique.

“This hotel has a great atmosphere and a great staff. The lobby and dining rooms are beautiful and the food is great. I was expecting a bit more from the rooms. They were nice and clean, but I was expecting a bit more from a 4-star hotel at this price. No complaints about anything.”

• Beautifully decorated rooms, halls and lobby. Great location!
• Main restaurant was closed on Sunday.

“The Westin, Greenville was a unique and beautifully decorated hotel. The staff was courteous and helpful. Although the rooms are smaller, the Westin is probably the most elegant hotel we saw in Greenville but not quite the standard of other 4 star hotels I have stayed in.”

“The room was small. We had hairs in the sink. Missing the TV remote. The alarm clock wasn't turned off so it woke us up early in the morning. The shower drain didn't work so we had to stand in a foot of dirty water while you took a shower.”

• 4th floor view of a wall, but I wasn't there for a view. Didn't matter.

“I took my wife and 6 months old on this business trip. Anything she needed was looked after by the front desk. I will be staying in this hotel for years to come and calling the west in corp. next week. Great service. Downtown, walking distance to everything. 2 miles from the zoo. Great afternoon. Close to all restaurants and shops.”

• Location during the day was awesome. Close to shops and parks.
• At night it turned into an episode of cops. People were getting arrested outside our window all until 2:00 am when we checked out.

“We were excited to stay here because a relative told us what a great reputation it had. The room was Nasty. Stains everywhere including where it seemed someone had gotten sick in the bathroom. Found a used razor in tub. The carpet was so nasty I wouldn't even walk with my socks on. We ordered room service and it was gross also. Stale bread etc. The street noise was so loud we drove back to Charleston at 2:00 am. We're not the type looking for refunds but nothing was offered as we stood in the lobby in our PJ's asking to check out. The front desk person even said something silly, like listen I don't really have the authority to do anything about the situation. She didn't even offer to switch rooms for us. Our stay was the biggest rip-off I have ever come across. I seriously stayed in dirt cheap hotels in college that were much cleaner and nicer.”

• Carpet in room was nasty.

“The style was about the same just not scary. It was really quite nice until we got to the room. Carpet was yuck at best and bathroom door opened into the room instead of towards the closet. There were numerous cracks in the bathroom tiles and counter.”

• I wasn't exactly a 4 star hotel. I expected a little more from it.

“This was a nice hotel which was very clean. The staff was accommodating whenever you asked for something. The room was well supplied. The wireless online access was for a fee which was disappointing for a 4 star. The rooms were not very large at all. They were actually a lot smaller than I expected.”

• Was a bit chaotic because of the movie shoot and road race taking place that weekend.

• Lovely ambience, attentive staff, good service recovery for dining disaster.
• Room service meal was, frankly, terrible! Entire order done incorrectly and inedible.

“Room service bombed with a meal that was burned, not what I ordered, wilted lettuce, fries instead of fruit. Awful! Good service recovery in that the employee listened well to the problem offered to resolve it on the spot and called back with an offer of 2 free brunches. I have conducted service excellence training for 25 years. They did a great job with everything else! Would definitely stay there again.”

• The entry requires guests to enter the lobby by going up a long flight of stairs. The bellman would not allow us to use the elevators.

“This hotel has great potential. The first room we were given had a broken lock on the small window which was accessible by roof access. The room was very tiny, just big enough for a bed and desk. We were given a larger room when we complained. The front desk staff said that we had requested a low floor near the elevator (which we had not.) The pet policy was quoted to us as "no pets" but upon arrival and seeing other pets, we inquired and were allowed to keep our pet with additional fees (which was acceptable.) The housekeeping was poor overall. Once, the room was not cleaned as the hotel had a large wedding party which filled the hotel and housekeeping was unable to clean our room. Another day, an overflowing trashcan was unimpaired and toiletries were not replenished. The restaurant brunch was excellent, but the service was a bit weak. Valet parking is available and efficient and there is close public parking for a very reasonable price. Overall the hotel is old and the service did not meet expectations, not deserving of 4 star status.”

• The location of the hotel was amazing. We just loved the surrounding area!
• Nothing - this was a great hotel.

“We really liked the Westin in Greenville. The immediate area is the city center, but it is like a quaint old town. Main Street is about a mile long walking mall with seemingly hundreds of little one of a kind restaurants and shops. In addition, the hotel is a recently renovated historic hotel. We had a beautiful view and the hotel was just beautifully decorated for Christmas. We would definitely recommend this hotel.”

“This was my second visit to the Westin-Poinsett in Greenville, SC. Both stays were consistently above average. Staff is friendly and helpful, and the central location in downtown Greenville is an added plus. Beds are very comfortable, showers are great, and it's clean! I'll definitely stay there again.”

• Breakfast was the worst part of this stay, service was pathetically slow, the food was worse than the service - cold, over cooked, unripe fruit.
