“This location is prime for G-ville visitors. Our room did have distinct wet smell and carpets were damp as if just shampooed. But the smell was from current or recent past leak. We did report it but not to request another room. One night, long drive, not worth moving again after checking in.”

“The rooms smell like a cheap bar, the smoke odor was so bad, that we had to take a bath 5 minutes after leaving the room, the staff was nice enough to move us to another room, but while the first room smell like cigars, the next room had a mulch-mildew odor, I would not recommend this hotel to anybody unless you are dead tired and need to pull over somewhere for the night, the only good thing this hotel has is the location off I-75 and the not near proximity to UF.”

• Clean, spacious, good continental breakfast selections.
• Hot water was not always readily available during morning hours in our room.

“Staff was helpful, respectful and accommodating. The room was spacious and clean. During our stay our activities required us to leave before the start of the established breakfast time each morning of our stay. The staff set up breakfast both mornings for all the guests before the scheduled time which benefited us greatly. However, the bathroom tile was very slippery especially after the maid used her cleaning supplies. Also, we were very disappointed with the inconsistent availability of hot water in our room. We needed to let the water run for over 10-15 minutes before hot water was available in the morning between 6:00-7:00 am during a weekend stay. This was unacceptable. During the late evening hot water was available quickly.”

“This hotel is good for a short stay. The beds were comfortable, nice hot shower, nice table to eat or make coffee. The coffee maker looked very dirty and the room was not very clean. The electrical outlet for the coffee maker stopped working.”

• The curtains were sheer, so you could not get complete privacy.

• I enjoyed the heated swimming pool.
• Can not think of any thing.

“This is a great hotel to stay at if youre in the Gainesville area. It is located near the Interstate, mall, and other local night life. It was very clean and felt very safe to stay in. It was well worth. I would definitely stay there again.”

• Mattresses badly worn. Breakfast choices limited.

“We have stayed at this hotel about 6 times. You get what you pay for. It's a clean mid-budget hotel. The breakfast has been scaled down since we started coming here about 4 yrs ago. Not as good as it was. Good overall value for the money.”

• Carpet cleaner left in room. Room smelled heavily of carpet cleaning solutions. Bed sheets did not fit bed and kept coming off.

“The staff was friendly and the breakfast is good. The carpet cleaning equipment was left in the room and the room smelt heavily of carpet cleaning solution. The bed sheets did not fit the bed and I was putting them back on all night. Pillows are of poor quality and uncomfortable.”

“The upkeep is needed but the outside workers were not concerned about guests and parking was a problem with all the worker trucks and the linen bin discarded in a prime spot.”

• For the price the accommodations were very good.
• No big deal but the ice machine on my floor did not work. Above and below me they worked fine.

“This place was clean, comfortable, and had a friendly staff. Though I did not partake, the breakfast was a surprise with waffles you make yourself with real batter and real waffle irons, fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, muffins and more. Pool area was well maintained too. For the price paid, I was quite happy with the place.”

• Customer service was excellent fast and friendly.
• My non smoking room smelled like smoke yuck!

“We always stay at the La Quinta when visiting our daughter and her family in Gainesville. We have always been very pleased. Unfortunately, this last stay we were not so pleased because our room smelled of stale smoke. The heated pool is great and the customer service (bringing us extra towels, etc.) Was very responsive.”

“The damp floors in my hotel room would have been a problem had my stay been longer than 2 days. The picture quality of the TV in my room was very poor. The TV was old and not properly adjusted nor could be properly adjusted for brightness and contrast.”

“Probably will not stay here again. The room had very strong musty and damp odor - very unpleasant! Drain in shower failed to drain quickly-ended up standing in 4 inches of water!”

• Maintenance was quick and efficient--had trouble with the shower drain.
• Access from the highway was a little difficult.

“A nice hotel for the money. They will probably need to do some upgrades on bed and bath linens at some point to remain competitive with similar chains. Everything was clean; hotel staff was friendly and efficient. The free breakfast was high in carbs and low on protein. So could use some upgrades there too.”

• Parking is limited, not enough spaces, even with some rooms closed for renovation.

“Large La Quinta, about two blocks off of I75. Quiet location, kids would enjoy the pool. Some wear and tear, but staff is pleasant and accommodating. Complimentary breakfast includes Belgian waffles (make your own), cold cereal, bagels, muffins, packaged 'pigs in a blanket'. Lots of nearby dining choices, 24 hour Walgreen about 3 blocks away and large grocery a block beyond Walgreen Great value for the price.”

“As stated above, We made reservations for a non smoking room, but was placed in a smoking room. When I brought this to the attention of the management, it was late at night and the hotel was full. At check out when this was brought to managements attention again, no one did anything to compensate us for our inconvenience.”

• Very dirty, carpet was moist and the room smelled. The bathroom was dirty and full of hair. bed was full of hair and dirty. I left in 4 hrs.

• The breakfast was a wonderful offering with everything from waffles to yogurt!
• We had to take both of our room keys back to the front desk 4 times in 3 days when they would not work.

“Although farther from the airport, it had easy access to the freeway, shopping, dining, and the road we needed to head out of town. The facility was attractive and functional with comfortable rooms and a quiet location. The staff was very helpful and apologetic when our keys continued to present challenges. I would stay again in a hot second!”

• Left our garment bag in closet and housekeeping helped locate and surrender to our grandson who lives in Gainesville.
• Price for cokes in vending machines wasn't the same at each level and no ice machine on the top floor.

“Overall our stay was enjoyable here, breakfast was fine and they found the bag we inadvertently left in the closet and is now in our Grandson's possession for return to us.”

• My room door was left unlocked and open by housekeeping and no record of my complaint. Also very noisy in next room and again no record of complaint.

“Maid service left my room door open. Guests in room next to mine were loud and arguing. Called front desk to complain and when I followed up the next day there was no record of my complaint. Truly disgusted this time around. ”
