“Overall, good experience; facilities and common area were nice and as expected. Room overlooked a narrow walkway to the pool area, bathroom had dripping tub faucet, there was not much water pressure in shower head, and there was a sewer burp that caused temporary sewage smell in the room. Our room was located next to employee supply room, so had some noise. “The hotel was close to the airport (for those who need every last minute). The rooms, pool area, fitness center, and restaurant were great. Only bad thing was that construction is currently in progress and the sound of power tools while sitting by the pool I could do without. Also the room key cards did not allow us to gain entry on 3 occasions sending us back to the desk for new ones. Housekeeping staff was excellent as were the wait staff in the restaurant/bar. “The hotel was undergoing renovations. Our room had not yet been updated but was still very clean, spacious and attractive. It took mere minutes to get to the airport, and the shuttle runs every 30 minutes 'round the clock. Staff was exceptional! The food was good, and fairly priced. Our telephone never did work, and the message light flashed continually. That was a bit annoying. We called to have the TV cable connection fixed, and it was done promptly.” Sep 10, 2008 by

“The are currently renovating, and our room was stale smelling, we only stayed for one night so I did not report to get a new room and we had to set the air to 65 to get it to cool down, and it was still warm the air unit was loud, other than that it was a nice place to rest our heads before going to the ZOO with out 2 year old son, I loved the towels, and bedding, TV did not have a lot to choose.” Sep 6, 2008 by

“I would say for the price, this hotel met our standards. The price was reasonable with friendly service. The restaurant in the hotel was good. I would have liked the breakfast buffet to be included for our stay but it wasn't. Breakfast buffet offered a variety of choices at 13 per adult and half price for kids. “The lobby is very nice and spacious. I did not dine in the restaurants, but the Sports bar looked interesting. The king room was quite small but very comfortable and clean. “This is an older hotel that has been remodeled nicely; however, the remodel was not complete however. New furniture, new bathroom fixtures, etc, but the ceiling, walls, outlet covers, doors, etc. Were old. “The location was great! Close to St Pete/Clearwater airport and even closer to Tampa airport. Mall nearby and lots of restaurant choices. In a busy business district. Short drive to beaches if you have a car. $30 Taxi ride for two to Busch Gardens. Housekeeping staff I encountered did not speak English. Getting anything from them required a call to front desk and a wait. Front desk staff very busy talking amongst themselves every time I went to the desk. I had to wait or interrupt. I asked for a toothbrush at 9 pm when my daughter realized she forgot hers. No one ever brought it up. Lots of airline staff stay here. Lobby is very busy. “We had to call the front desk 3 times to get the primary light bulb in the bathroom replaced. It wasn't until the third call when we told them our TV wasn't working that they came to help us. Later, when we went down to the hot tub on Saturday evening someone had left a hose in it - it was overflowing everywhere and obviously compromised the temperature in the hot tub. My husband found the faucet and turned the hose off. We never saw a staff member come out to check it the entire 30 minutes we were down there. I never saw typical Doubletree standards except in the lobby. We utilized the hotel restaurant on Sat morning for the breakfast buffet- there was only one other occupied table so much of the buffet looked like it had been out for a while without attention, and I'm still trying to figure out the lack of attention from the wait staff with so few tables occupied. My original reservation was at the doubletree on rocky Pointe drive where I have been before but I found out after checking in that there would be no internet service for the next 3 days. “This was my third time at hotel. The exterior is very dated and looks old. The rooms interior appear to all newly remodeled and clean. This trip I had water problems, no hot water for 1 day and then only scalding hot water for 2 days. Finally the last day they moved my room. “While the hotel has been recently upgraded, new furniture, great beds, etc; the hotel itself has not been remodeled. The overall building needs repair and updating. The doors to the patio and interior walls seem in need of attention. My biggest disappointment was that this hotel was booked for a boxing match the evening we were there, making it very crowed and very loud (in the hallways) at times.
