  • Great location and service.
  • There was a slight musty smell that some older Florida hotels possess.

“I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to experience Tampa. It's next to the action but not directly in it, which is a good thing. The restaurant, while expensive, was very good and convenient.”

  • The hotel had very friendly staff and comfortable beds.
  • The hotel had a moldy smell throughout in the rooms and hallways they tried to cover this up with a strong perfume spray.

“Overall this is a nice hotel but definitely not worth paying posted rates. The hotel is close to the Tampa airport but if you are going other places can be difficult to find when returning to the hotel. The hotel had very nice beds and rooms with a great workout facility. The one downside is that there is a moldy smell in the rooms and hallways which they try to cover with a perfume spray.”

  • To self-park means lugging bags from the garage quite a way to the lobby without the benefit of ramps.

  • When providing clean towels did not give any wash clothes.

“Not the attention to detail that I expect from a hotel like this. Housekeeping left something to be desired. No replenishing of washcloths and didn't clean a side table that had rings from a soda on the glass. The roll away bed was not in the room and we had to call to have it brought to us.”

  • Parking is a problem when the hotel is full.

“Stay 2 nights at the Holiday Inn Express. The hotel was clean and the staff helpful. The location was good if you wanted to go to a Phillies spring training game or needed to get on Rt 19. The beaches are about 10 minutes away.”

  • It was very convenient in regards to location.
  • The cleanliness of the hotel did not meet expectations.

“The hotel room that I stayed in had soiled furniture and the decorative pillows were falling apart. Additionally, an individual I traveled with accidentally soiled the sheets before we left for a very long day of activities. Upon our return at night we pulled the sheets from the bed only to notice that housekeeping staff did not change the sheets when performing everyday housekeeping duties. When we called downstairs it appeared that the housekeeping staff was gone for the day so the front desk sent up security with extra sheets and we, the hotel guests, had to change the sheets. We also noticed that the tub was not cleaned. I was very disappointed with the cleanliness of the hotel because I'm willing to pay extra for clean accommodations. Overall, if I didn't have this experience I would rate the hotel higher.”

“Unless you like traveling for 1 1/2 hours in traffic and visiting St. Petersburg due to lack of clear access to this hotel, you might want to look elsewhere. At this time, the construction near the hotel makes getting from the airport to this property a "real trip".”

“We were in town attending a wedding shower, so we didn't get to the Hyatt to check in until 9:30pm. No problem. The reception staff we quick, kind, and upgraded us to a high floor room with a bay view. We stayed at a 4-star hotel for about half the price.”

  • No microwave, no refrigerator in the room, rooms were rather small for the 'star' rating.

“The location is very convenient and it is very clean and well appointed. However, the rooms are small and the pool was dirtier than I expected for the look and feel of the hotel. Staff are friendly.”

  • The grounds, hotel, & lobby were superb & very upscale. Staff was highest caliber.
  • No complaints at all (and that's unusual for me!).

“My husband and I stayed here one night. The hotel was superb (and I am a self-admitted hotel snob!). When we checked in, the front desk person offered us two glasses of champagne and made us feel so welcome. The lobby and surroundings were top-notch and it felt like we had just arrived at the 4 seasons! I asked the man at check-in how the view was from our room and he said "not great, but I think I can get you a room with a better view." So, just for asking, he upgraded our room at no charge! Our room was gorgeous and the view was amazing--we had a nearly floor to ceiling glass wall of windows that looked out over the shimmering blue water. The bed & furnishings were also top-notch. Also, although we didn't get a chance to eat there, this hotel has one of the best restaurants in the city (called "Oyster Catchers").”

  • The location, overlooking both Tampa Bay and the airport, provides great views from all rooms.
  • There was no lighted, magnifying mirror in the bathroom.

“We love this hotel. While it is a luxury hotel, it is not snooty. The staff is exceedingly friendly to adults and children alike. The rooms are spacious and the beds are extremely comfortable. The bathrooms are also spacious (but could use a lighted, magnifying mirror), and the bath amenities provided by the hotel smell wonderful. The room service menu offers a wide variety of food, is nicely priced and tastes great!”

“Hotel is in a great central location close to airport and shopping. Tried the restaurant in the lobby 3 times, each time was disappointing. This was the only restaurant in the hotel that we did not need a reservation for. We had to change rooms on our second day due to a horrible smell in our bathroom. Maintenance said it was coming from our bathtub.”

  • They use a strong, toxic air freshener through out the hotel.

“I called the front desk to ask about a room where there wasn't the strong air freshener smell. They said they didn't have any non-toxic rooms and then admitted guests regularly complained about the smell. The last time I was in a hotel with that much air freshener was in India where they were trying to hide the smell of the pesticides. Because of the odor I will not go back to that hotel.”

“Negatives: Broken lamp did not turn off so had to unscrew bulbs. Cracked drinking glass in bathroom the first day. Soap dispenser in bathroom never had soap. Toilet had a slow leak and would periodically refill. Unable to use internet service as it required a special provider. Positives: Overall attractive hotel. Good service, including check in and checkout. Fast elevators. Excellent evening chocolates. Comfortable king bed with six pillows. Good shower.”

  • They helped us locate and gave printed directions to a pharmacy at midnight for an emergency.
  • Current construction on the road out front made it difficult to get in & out of, difficult to find at night, rough towels.

“Staff professional, friendly, funny, extremely accommodating. Hotel beautiful. Room beautiful, luxurious. Bed wonderfully comfortable. Bathroom pretty. We were there for a very short time and I ended up with hives and welts, so we were unable to enjoy it to the fullest experience.”

  • We upgraded to the 12th floor grand club level, the view was amazing. Club level includes snacks and sodas, etc simply amazing experience.
  • We asked for an extra robe and turn down service but they never happened.

“This 4 star Hyatt was an in town getaway on New Years for us. We had a great time, the staff was amazing, overly polite, room service was fast, the menu was a bit pricey but you should expect that at a 4 star hotel. We plan on returning. If given the option upgrade to the 12th floor grand club, its worth it.”

  • The hotel offers free convenient parking and nicely decorated rooms.
  • The hotel uses very offensive room sprays that made it difficult to breathe.

“I was very pleased with the hotel aesthetics, the friendly staff, comfortable rooms, and free parking. My one complaint is that the hotel used some type of carpet deodorizer or room spray that was extremely offensive. I was so uncomfortable in the room due to the smell that I almost left that night. I'm not sure if they are trying to cover water damage or cigarette odors, but they really need to change what they are using. I overheard 5 other people complain about the smell. When I asked the hotel staff about the odor, they were very polite, but they just apologized. Unfortunately due to the smell, I would not recommend the hotel to others. If they could change the odor it would be a great hotel.”

  • If you travel by car, this hotel is a good choice as it is located near to both the town and the beaches.
  • Room was cleaned up properly we found a beer bottle cap on the floor as we entered the room.

“We stayed 4 nights in this hotel. It is upscale and comfortable. The concierge and doormen are all very friendly. If you drive, this hotel is perfect as it is only minutes away (by car) from the town and the beaches. The cleaning of the room, however, falls short of my expectation of a 4 star hotel we found a beer bottle cap on the room floor on the first day we checked in. Also, the hotel provides only complimentary coffee, no tea.”

“I am getting ready for ankle surgery and wanted to get away for a few days. The Hyatt staff placed me in a corner room with plenty of windows. Now after the surgery and I am in pain I will be able to take myself back to the wonderful sunsets and cityscape I saw.”
