• The rooms were very well decorated and extremely comfortable.
• The elevator was down a long hall from the entrance and my elderly parents had a hard time walking the distance to get on the elevator.

• Hotel had been remodeled, room was nice and updated.
• Could tell that hotel was older with sliding glass door that didn't work well, small bath.

“The front desk was friendly and the room had nice touches, like linen spray and ear plugs. Room was clean, didn't think the bed was as nice as Hampton Inn beds. Construction looked underway, lumber and building materials were piled up in the parking lot, that was our view from our room. Golf course was completely brown with bulldozers sitting on site. The latch on the sliding glass door was broken, so there was a hook/latch at the top to lock it. It was obvious it was an older hotel that they were renovating. Some things like the very small bathroom can't be changed, but it was clean.”

• The staff.
• Balconies were not very clean.

“The hotel was under partial renovation. The bathroom was an old water guzzler and kept running off and on. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I did not feel that this was an upscale hotel.”

• When renovations are complete, it will be nice.
• Had to drive to downtown while we had hoped to walk.

“Currently under renovation inside and out, the hotel was not located in the downtown area. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Bathrooms small but rooms a decent size. Very low ceilings in bathrooms.”

• No elevators, not updated, areas need some attention, construction debris in parking lot.

“It appears they are undergoing a revamping of the golf course and perhaps some structural areas. There is considerable construction debris, materials and vehicles in the parking lot which creates a parking problem. While only a 2 story structure, there are no elevators. For older or handicapped guests, this is a big problem. This is an older hotel and it shows some signs of aging. The staff was terrific, the restaurant service was very good.”

• The only positive was lots of channels available on TV.
• Rooms smell of mildew, not enough parking, and rude staff.

“The hotel is smoke free as of February. Our room still had the smell of smoke. When the A/C was turned on, it smelled like mildew was in it. The reason is got to be because there is a golf course. Well, they don't have it now because they are reconstructing it. The staff is not helpful and can be rude. Another problem is that our room's door could not be locked with the deadbolt because the strike plate did not match up (at all).”

• The night time "goodie bag" left on the bed it had a night mask, linen spray and ear plugs with a CD and CD player in the room! Awesome.
• The balcony was nice but no viewer.

“It was kid scary when we first checked in we were trying to get in the door of our room the maintenance man was in the room and it took awhile for him to open the door. Just very surprising other than that it was great place and a very nice stay the price was awesome!”

“This hotel is very good. Very clean, nice looking rooms. They have very comfortable beds and have this sleeping package which is really good. The buffet breakfast is excellent for the price ($10.95) and includes everything from waffles to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.”

• The bed linens were very nice.
• We were assigned an upstairs room on the end of one wing and the only elevator was at the other end of the next building.

“The hotel is very large (277+ rooms) and spread out over a large area so be prepared to walk a lot to get to the lobby or an elevator. Some buildings share an elevator with an adjoining building. The room did not have a desk, only a very small round table. The only electrical outlets were in the bathroom, behind a massive TV cabinet (with a tiny TV inside) and behind the bed. There was no place to plug in my laptop and charging the cell phone was difficult. You could not turn left (towards downtown) out of the entrance. I had noticed a drugstore and restaurant on my way to the hotel and I wanted to go back later. There was no way to go back except to drive several miles in the wrong direction! I would not stay here again.”

• I left something in the room after checking out, and they were very helpful at returning it!
• The entire golf course is under construction and was unsightly. The hotel looks dated.

“The follow up help in housekeeping in returning a very valuable personal item we left in the room was great. Overall for what we needed, it was fine. But there wasn't anything spectacular about the hotel, and the construction was not very pretty.”

• Difficult access.

“My girlfriend traveled with me on this past trip and requested a late check out. I was surprised that they were so accommodating considering the price. They immediately said no problem and let us check-out at 2 pm. She used the extra time to sun bathe at the pool while I was working in town. I have stayed at this hotel now several times and highly recommend it!”

“The hotel had little parking, as the parking was taken up by construction materials for the remodeling work. No hot water in the morning, and when it finally came on - the water was rusty. Too many doors to open when trying to enter the hotel to get to my room - very inconvenient when trying to get luggage inside.”

• The beds were super comfortable and the hotel is relatively quiet.
• It is set up like a motor lodge so depending on what wing you're in, there's plenty of walking from your room to the lobby, even further to the pool.

“It's tricky finding the hotel if you're new to Asheville. We've been to Asheville a few times, so we knew the roads, etc.”

• The GM acknowledged problems and offered resolution for future.
• Handicap room was not safe for mobile impaired!

“We booked 2 rooms at the Crowne Plaza Resorts for 4 & 5 nights. We called ahead to insure our needs would be met as needed; especially for the handicaped room, only to be disappointed. Our second room was initially to be pool side, we were put by the parking lot. We called each day only to be told no pool side were available. In addition we called each day for a deposit box for our additional valuables also not available.Their attention to details was absent from the housekeeping staff. Their handicap room had only a tub without a shower, the bathroom floor was not non-slip. There was actual mold growing on our balcony. The meals our family had in their resturant was a very unmemorable event as our waitress kept forgetting orders and condiments, and finally brought a mayonaise bottle curtly to the table! This hotel would have almost been acceptable as a one or two star but soorely lacking quality as a want to be three star!”

“A good value for its location. The staff were great and they provide a free shuttle to downtown. Finding the hotel is tough, because it predates an interstate built nearby off of a frontage road and hidden behind a plaza.”

“We usually stay at the Renaissance downtown which is more convenient to the dining options without the hassles of driving and parking. Given the choice, I prefer a downtown location because my partner can not drive. Once the rooms and amenities become par with the Renaissance then I really won't have a preference.”

• Pets are welcome. noisy and annoying for non pet guests.

• The interior of the hotel was clean and well maintained.
• There was considerable work being done on the grounds.

“I think that when the renovations of the golf facilities are completed, the hotel will be beautiful throughout. However, the highway exits and entrances around the hotel are complicated and you end up having to drive through parking lots in order to reach the hotel.”

• Close enough to Downtown without being in the midst of it.
• Inadequate parking at the villas.

“We had a tough time because of upstairs guests making a lot of noise. I know it's difficult for staff to control, but after I called and asked them to speak with the guests the noise only got worse. Having gotten zero sleep for the night despite the use of earplugs, I can't say it was a pleasant experience - were it not for these guests we would have been very happy.”
