• It has potential.
• It looks old and run down.

“The room was nice, looked as though it had been recently renovated. The bed was short, barely 6 feet long and it was too soft. The bathroom looked as though they did a rush job on the remodel. The rest of the hotel looked old and outdated. The staff was very friendly. Very easy to miss the entrance the first time in.”

• Free parking.
• Old hotel, elevator, fridge, decor, and not in downtown.

“This hotel was bought as a downtown hotel even it is definitely not in downtown! Without a car you can't reach downtown on foot. The hotel itself is a former Holiday Inn which has been upgraded by IC Hotels to Crowne Plaza Resort. Except the lobby area and a restaurant with open fire place. Everything of our room was old, dated and worn except the recently renovated bathroom (partly). Old carpets, old elevator, old doors, dirty balcony (water from AC) etc. Definitely not a 3 star hotel.”

• Upgraded us to king executive suite.
• Inconvenient location and construction on going.

“For a place to spend the night, as a leisure traveler, it was great. This is not a vacation location, though. Concierge service not convenient with hours 1pm - 6pm. Staff helpful, generally. Construction on site does not make it attractive. There are some corridors open that should be blocked.”

• I liked the Tennis Courts but it rained all weekend.
• The dinning area news and overhaul.

“The hotel was nicely attired and I saw some work to improve the facilities. We ate in the dining foyer area and they lit the fire which made it nice!”

• The Location was good and access was easy.
• The Air Conditioners in the rooms were ineffective and annoyingly loud.

“The Crowne Plaza is an old hotel/country club that has been updated by pasting on amenities. The rooms were fairly clean, but felt and looked old. The beds were very comfortable and clean. The Bathroom was okay, but very small. The hotel utilizes the in-wall heating/AC systems and they were ridiculously loud and not very effective. Also wall outlets are hard to find and very inconveniently located, plugging in a computer was difficult. Hotel food was well below average. I would not recommend eating on property and the staff was apologetic about the quality. We used the pool, which was heated, clean, and in good condition. However it is very small for a 'resort' level property.”

• The bed was very comfortable and linens we awesome!
• The bathroom was very nice
  but small.

“Beautiful setting and the room was
great and what a bargain! Wednesday night they had a wine and cheese reception and they have room service too. Did not eat at the hotel but menu looked good. I will definitely stay there again!”

“Good location for visiting down town area. Looks older but was clean. Front desk staff very friendly. Restrauant staff not a friendly. Meal not cooked as ordered and the staff did not suggest taking it back but did comp one of the meals.”

“It was an excellent hotel. When the construction is finished it will be top notch. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. We would definitely stay there again. The only problem we had was finding the entrance when we arrived. You can very easily miss it.”

“We only spent two nights on our way to the Great Smoky Mountains but we really enjoyed our stay. We have stayed in Crowne Plazas before and have always liked the friendly and helpful staff and the overall cleanliness of the hotel.”

• Some of the reviews refer to noise. The entire visit was pleasant from the staff to the room to the wonderful beds.
• A little difficult to find.

“My husband and I chose this hotel in advance, not having been there before. The staff was wonderful: at the reception, in the lounge and the restaurant. The front desk was very accommodating and patient when I thought I had left my cell phone. It was an all-around pleasant experience.”

“Our stay was pleasant, We arrived late Friday evening. The hotel was busy so parking was hard to find due to several functions going on. Had a fast courteous check in. The only thing that was not pleasant was after our room was cleaned Saturday morning the housekeeper left the dirty coffee cups sit in the hall in front of the door. When we checked out Sunday the same cups were still sitting where she had left them.”

• We were awakened several times by loud people in the hall and slamming their doors at 3:00 am.

• I loved the bed, it was so comfortable!
• I did not like having the room for the disabled.

“This hotel was exceptional! The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The amenities were top notch. The food in the restaurant we ate in was perfect (I would recommend that coffee to anyone!). Most of all, the new beds slept superb! I had two of the best nights sleep I've had in a while.”

• Rooms were clean and the staff was
  very friendly. Casual, laid back atmosphere.
• Internet connection so slow as to be useless.

“Overall the place was good, clean, staff was friendly, etc. but the little things here were not so great. Internet connection was so slow as to be useless, beds were OK, but not great (a little hard actually) and the rooms were relatively generic. With a car the location of the hotel is fine, a short drive in and out of the center of all the cool stuff in Asheville, but was not walkable. Without a car, this would be a nightmare location.”

“Nice hotel and location. Construction being completed throughout the premises may cause some inconveniences. Location is great but you do have to drive (about 10 minutes) to get downtown. This is my second stay at this hotel and I will definitely stay again.”

• Parking was free and never a problem; nice bedding; front desk staff was nice and helpful.

“I was down the hall from the elevator and could hear it all night! Housekeeping didn't replenish my towels and I had to call to get fresh ones sent to my room, which made me think that they probably didn't change my sheets either. The front desk staff was nice and helpful. The dining room looked nice, but I didn't eat at the hotel.”

• Proximity to the expressway and downtown.
• The attractiveness of the exterior of the buildings the rooms were in. Construction going on outside of my building.

“When we went to check into the hotel, there was a designated line for preferred members of the hotel chain. We had points so we got in this line as it was supposed to be a faster check-in. Well, the lady behind me then walked up to the general check-in line and was assisted before I was and was able to check in while I was still waiting on someone to even acknowledge me standing the preferred members line. Additionally, there was some sort of high school volleyball tournament going on in the city so the lobby was an absolute mad house. We were told we would not be put in the building where the kids were but I could not exactly tell from the number of kids walking and talking loudly in the hallway where our room was. I would not stay there again or recommend it to friends.”

“The hotel was visually more impressive than I expected upon arrival and the public amenities were upscale. The size of the bathroom was the only de-factor on our stay. It was so small, we had to exit the bathroom to change our minds.”

• Rooms were poorly sound insulated and a long way to carry bags to room.

“Although touted as being a downtown location, it was not within walking distance to the downtown area. Rooms were clean, but very average and somewhat dated. The rooms were on the small side with matching small bathrooms. The rooms appear to be very poorly sound insulated as you could here the people in the adjoining rooms as if they were in your own room.”

• The location was great!
• halls very noisy at night. Breakfast buffet not very good.

“I have stayed at this hotel before and think the price we paid on Priceline was a little high. I would not consider it a 3.5 star hotel. The golf course was closed, glad we were not looking forward to playing golf! The walls are paper thin, and the staff didn't seem interested in asking the partiers to quiet down.”

• The hotel is older but has been nicely upgraded and well taken care of.
• The only real draw back was the noise level in your room. You could hear the other patrons going down the hall.

“Overall this hotel was nice. It has two restaurants within the hotel which is always nice, but a little expensive. My trip was in March 2009 and the hotel was doing a lot of renovations to the grounds of the hotel. So it was not picturesque. The noise level, from the other patrons, inside the room was a little on the high side for me. The staff was friendly.”
