• Walking distance to St. Armand's Circle and nice beach across a two-lane street.
• Not on the beach and not romantic or upscale for our anniversary - my mistake - I thought it was a different hotel.

“For a moderately priced hotel, it's great. Very convenient location - walking distance to restaurants and shops. Beach is across the street and it's a beautiful beach. Rooms are clean and totally adequate but if you're looking for a romantic get-away or an upscale experience, you'll have to spend more in this area.”

• The location was right on the ocean which is just what we were looking for.
• There was a roach in our bathroom and the hotel was undergoing construction.

• Very comfortable beds. Awesome view from the balcony. We were on the city view side but that was awesome.
• It is on the beach but you still need to cross the street to get to the beach.

• I loved the ocean view.
• The hotel needed a few updates.

“The hotel was within walking distance to the beach, which was great. However, the drain in the shower and sink didn't drain fast enough, so someone had to be called. The bathroom ceiling was discolored and wasn't appealing. The bathroom was way too small. Te curtains had something brown on them and didn't look to clean. I would've rather spent more money for a nicer room because this wasn't worth the money. Other than the room, the staff helped with all my requests.”

• The elevator noise was terrible. Awoke early every day.

“The hotel surpassed our expectations. Much nicer than we expected. The Gulf views from the restaurant were beautiful. And just a short walk away is the shopping at St. Armands Circle. Lido Beach is a beautiful location. It was room on the back side of the hotel. It must have been right against the mechanical room for the elevators. The noise woke us early every morning. Sometimes the room shook. I had asked earlier for a different room but was told the hotel was full. (However, after Saturday night the hotel parking lot seemed only half full.) Other than that, we were pleased with our stay.”

• Very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way.
• Their coffee was a little bitter. A Great Place to stay.

“They were excellent in their friendliness and hospitality. Rooms were clean. Parking was free and safe. Staff was wonderful. View of beach and ocean was amazing. Asked for a late departure and they said, "yes" immediately. Made for a very enjoyable stay. Would most definitely stay there again.”

• Great location and view of the Gulf.
• I would replace the plastic furniture on all the balconies.

“The location of this hotel is within walking distance of St Armbands Circle which is the hub of activity in Sarasota. The view of the Gulf of Mexico from the room was beautiful and the sunsets from the balcony were worth the cost of the room. The staff was courteous but not intrusive. The room was clean. I had a great experience and will stay there again.”

• The room was more spacious than we expected. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful.
• Nothing specific that we didn't like.

“This hotel is very conveniently located to one of the best places to eat and shop (St. Armand's circle) that you'll find in this part of Florida. It's across the street from the beach, but there's nothing on the other side of the road, so you can look out at the beach if you have a beachside room. It's a very lovely beach, with white sugar sand. The room was nicely furnished and clean. We didn't use the bar or restaurant, so can't speak to them. Very good value for the money, we felt.”

• On site eating options were pretty slim.

• The restaurant staff was nothing short of horrible. Lazy and uncaring.

“Pretty good place for the money. Rooms and beds were comfortable, place was clean and the ocean location and views were exceptional. The experience was ruined, however, once we ate in the restaurant. If we hadn't eaten there, the stay would have rated high. The experience was so bad that it prompted my wife to contact their corporate headquarters about the issues in the restaurant. A good place to stay, but spend your food dollars elsewhere.”

• The bartenders were the best part of the hotel.
• The staff was not happy to be doing there job.

“The hotel was nice; the pool was ok but did not have a shallow end less than 4. 5 ft, so it was difficult with small children. When we went for the buffet breakfast the host looked at us with discussed and told us it would be 25 minutes for a table when we clearly saw 12 open tables. The room service was prompt but the lunches were dried out and not good.”

The week we were there their was smoke in the air from forest fires in cent flap and lots of bugs so I asked to be upgraded to a gulf view ram for free and the mgr said no. I realize it was not her fault that there was smoke and bugs but you should take care of your customers anyway. My 2 cents.”

“Hotel appears to be on beach, but you have to cross the street! It is not beach front as I was told! it is a beach view. Pool is nothing to speak of, an Tiki bar opens at 4:00 on a holiday. Go figure! No mini fridge could use some updating, cleaner bathrooms. Buffet breakfast was cold.$9.95 each. Good variety! We had city view, did not know you had to look at a parking lot as well. Rates were very expensive for the over all look of the hotel plus a holiday weekend and nothing going on! thank god for St.armand's.”

• The location is perfect. Right across the street from the beach.
• The hotel cards will demagnify if placed by a cell phone. We had to have ours reactivated.

“Very clean, extremely courteous and accommodating by all members of the staff. I have spent 2 times more a night and not gotten the same level of service. After we checked out and loading the car she ran out to the parking lot to give my wife her cell phone which she left in the room charging.”

“This was a great stay and great location. Sometimes our rooms were not cleaned until around 4 in the afternoon and that is when we found ourselves wanting to get back to the room and get cleaned up. Besides that it was a picture perfect stay.”

“My family had a great time at the hotel. The beach was beautiful and not very crowded. The hotel restaurant was pretty good. We ate there twice. The pool wasn't very big, but most people weren't swimming anyway. The ocean is across the street, but we walked without our shoes because it wasn't far.”

• On the beach - I was given a gulf side room. Really liked the Neutrogena toiletries.
• It was obviously a smoking hotel - the room next door smoked most nights [many hotels are now non-smoking in fl].

“The holiday inn at lido beach is a very family oriented hotel located just steps away (actually across the road) from lido beach and just a few blocks from St. Armand's circle (trendy shops) in Sarasota, FL. Even though I booked I was given the option of a gulf side room (with balcony). Had to wait for this room -but it was worth it. The housekeeping staff and front desk were very helpful and courteous. Beds were made every day (linens changed had to be requested - but that was fine with me), and fresh towels and toiletries were provided. Overall I wonderful experience and will definitely stay there again.”

• Easy walk to St Armands cir for shops and restaurants, and you are on the beach, great location.
• Vending machines were empty by my second day and were not restocked when I left 4 days later.

“This is one of the nicer holiday inns I have stayed in. The location is fantastic with many shops and restaurants less than a 1/3 mile away, and of course you are right on the beach. Beautiful views from my ocean front room, fantastic sun sets. Hotel accommodated me when I requested an ocean view on my arrival. The city view rooms would be a disappointment to most. I went down to Sarasota for spring training, the hotel is about a 15 minute drive from ed smith stadium the spring training home of the Cincinnati reds and 25 minutes from Bradenton and the pirates ballpark. 10 minutes from the airport. The room I had was very clean and had an ironing board and iron. There was a hair dryer and the hotel supplied nutrigena products for soap, shampoo and conditioner. This is not a Hilton, Westin, Omni or Sheraton but it was not far behind very surprised by the quality of the room. I am a dedicated customer. I have yet to be disappointed with any of the 12 hotels I have purchased. Very pleased.”

• The location of the hotel in front of the gulf of Mexico was just wonderful.
• The lobby of the hotel was rather small in area.

“As indicated above the hotel is situated wonderfully right in front of the gulf of Mexico. The view could not be better. The beach is great. Also it is located a walking distance from one of the best shopping areas in the Sarasota area filled with boutiques, restaurants etc.”
