• The hotel staff was fabulous. The front desk accommodated us with a room with a view of the bay and the concierge was stellar.

“We love the Vinoy. We went to St. Petersburg to go sailing and Captain Dave at Sailing Florida took excellent care of us. Although the weather didn't co-operate, our vacation was amazing. We'll look forward to staying at the Vinoy again and again.”

• Bottom fitted sheet kept coming off.

“Loved our stay there. Service was great and the hotel itself is a real gem. You can't have a better location than this. Centrally located across the street from a beautiful park, a huge marina and wonderful dining within blocks of the hotel.”

• Very quaint, well restored old Spanish feel.
• Parking costs were outrageous, incidental charges way too high.

“old luxury hotel with modern upgrades. Comfortable room, lovely veranda overlooking Tampa Bay with wicker rockers, lobby bar, complete health club and spa....all well-maintained and appointed. I hope the next time I use Priceline for that area that I am fortunate enough to get the Vinoy again.”

“The vinoy is a beautiful building in a beautiful area. It's close to many dining opportunities and just a short jaunt to sandy beaches. If you're lucky you might have an experience with one of the more haunting qualities of the structure. Keep your eyes peeled and your lights on.”

• Classic beauty of the property; front desk staff came around the desk to hand you the room key.

“Fabulous property in a beautiful location on the waterfront. The classic architecture of this building was complimented by the guest services. In particular, I was impressed with the novel approach of the front desk staff: during the check-in process, the guest clerk came around the desk, meeting me face-to-face, handing me the room key and directing me to the nearest elevator. That personal touch is wonderful and makes the guest feel as though they are truly being welcomed to the property.”

• Historic with excellent restoration, beautiful views, and wonder bedding/decor.
• Daily parking fee which was not disclosed.

“The Vinoy is a historic hotel and the history is beautifully displayed. The rooms are very large, tactfully decorated with wonderful views of the bay. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Room service quick and the food delicious! We had a wonderful stay.”

• Very classy, upscale and comfortable.
• Modern amenities were lacking.

“The hotel was perfectly located with many shops, restaurants and things to do nearby. We went over 4th of July weekend, and the hotel was perfectly situated for watching the spectacular fireworks show. The only negative is that rooms were not equipped with WiFi, DVD players or MP3 stereo. I have stayed at lower-end hotels before that offer all of these and was a bit surprised that the one did not- especially for the price! Overall, a great stay though. I would go back.”

• All prices are expensive. Expect to pay 4-star prices for dinks, food etc.

“My wife and I had a great time at this hotel. The pool offered all of the services we were looking for. We happened to be there during "Taste of Pinellas" walked to the festival in Vinoy Park across the street. I would highly recommend the place to anyone willing to pay a little extra for a great getaway!”

• Old World charm! Architecturally significant! One of a kind!
• New addition.

“One of the view hotels that you don't mind hanging around in. Historic, romantic days of the rich and famous look for them checking in! Best of show, sitting back on the front porch veranda having a cocktail and smoking a Cohia! Can't get any better walk to the cool side of town. Don't miss it could become a 5 star very easily. Restaurant is magnificent and great seafood lives the fantasy and relaxes!”

• I wish it was on the beach and the marina was being redone so I was disappointed that we could not see all the yachts I was expecting.

• Lovely hotel with all you would expect from a 4 star!
• I did not care for the toiletries. Outdoor bar/ restaurant service was weak.

“We are Marriott rewards members. I contacted the hotel and made our requests and then spoke with front desk management when I arrived. They honored our requests and were so very welcoming. This was our first visit to this beautiful hotel and to the Tampa/St.Petersburg area.”

• The room was wonderful.

“The hotel is beautiful, however they want to cater to an upscale crowd, and seemed not to appreciate the family group. The bathrobes left in the room were not clean, nor were some of the towels (they were pretty stained, not actually dirty, but they looked gross. Also, the room was not ready until an hour after check-in, and we phoned ahead and were assured we could have an early check-in. It was disappointing to have to wait 2 hours for the room. Overall, I would not recommend the Vinoy to others. There are much better resort hotels in the area.”

• They did not have our reservation upon arrival.

“Beautiful hotel for a romantic weekend. I spent a lot of time with reservation specialists to request a nice room for our special celebration. On the phone, very accommodating, upon arrival, our reservation was not there. Instead of a nice room with a good view, we had a sufficient room with a view of the dumpster and smoke billowing from a pipe coming out of the kitchen. ”

“A beautiful hotel, but overpriced. The water sports and facilities could have been a little more user-friendly, and the hotel check-in staff and written materials provided to guests do not do a great job explaining facilities, what services are available to guests, etc. But the hotel itself is charming, staff is friendly overall. I'd go back with my wife.”

• Nice environment with excellent staff.
• Room was deficient. Snacks and bar were not avail.

“It is obvious that this hotel caters to a high society. Unfortunately our room, though satisfactory, was not up to the expectations nor the price. The snack cabinet and bar had been removed for repairs. Food vending was not available and soda machines on every floor were empty.”

• Wallpaper peeling, dirty carpets, and moldy bathroom.

“I would not recommend it, nor stay there again. This was confirmed by friends we met in town who said "we should have told them we were staying there". It is extremely of very poor quality. Additionally the number of street people surrounding the area was frightening to my wife.”

• Nice big porch to have a drink and take in the bay.

“The hotel was build in the 1930s to cater to wealthy who summered in St. Petersburg. It has been nicely restored and meets current hotel standards for room size an amenities. The pool are is generous with two hot tubs and plenty of seating, a tennis court, and outdoor cafe. Parking is right next to the Hotel in a modern parkin garage. Fantastic location downtown with a shuttle to all sites and easy walking. Loved the big porch where I sat on a hot night with my Mom and had a few cold drinks.”

“Was thrilled with this hotel. The room in the tower was very large with large closet and bathroom....and separate toilet room....great for families.Hotel staff was very friendly. Breakfast buffet at the Alfresco was very affordable..$7 kids, $12 adults which is amazing for a 4 star hotel!”
