• The continental breakfast was great! There were a lot of selections and everything was fresh!
• One night I saw a street person helping himself to the outdoor ice machine. One night police were outside going around checking the parking lot.

“The general area surrounding the hotel seemed nice, but I'm just not sure about how safe the area was. The staff was very friendly and very helpful with directions.”

“This hotel is a jewel compared to the price. The kids enjoyed the pool surrounded by beautiful garden in their courtyard. This hotel was a very relaxing place. We had car problems before leaving the hotel to go to Tropicana Field. The staff was very helpful that they provided us a taxi and a printout map of the local dealership. Tropicana Field was only 10 minutes away from the hotel taking their local roads instead of the highway. The breakfast had a very impressive variety from warm hard boiled eggs, a variety of oatmeal, and waffles. They even had fresh fruit to go with yogurt. Outside the hotel also had many Asian restaurants close by as we enjoyed from Indian to Vietnamese. We enjoyed the hotel so much that we didn't have the chance to go see the Salvador Dali Museum which was also close by. We would definitely go back to this hotel.”

• Very helpful staff, printed our plane tickets for us, gave us a micro and fridge when we asked right away.
• The decor in the rooms was ugly and plain.

“I would stay here again no question. The staff was wonderful. The only slight problem we had been housekeeping did not come by for 2 days, we asked at the front desk, and our room was clean in 1/2 hour.”

• Unwanted trespassers in hallways some of the stay.

• It was easy to locate and close to Tropicana field, or within driving distance anyway.
• It was not the cleanliest or most comfortable room I've ever stayed in.

“When we arrived we realized that the area was not the greatest but that was fine. We were only sleeping there after going to a local baseball game. We got our keys and walked into a room billowing of cigarette smoke, the TV was blaring and the beds were unmade. There was a bar of soap at the bottom of the toilet that clogged it up. The bed was not comfortable at all and I felt like I needed to wear clothes over my clothes to get into it. There was a bug smashed up against the shower curtain that I found in the morning. All in all I would not recommend this is a 2 star, or I will just need to stay in 3 star or above.”

• Creepy maintenance manager was looking into people's cars at 5am.

“Good rooms, must ask if you need fridge/microwave. Wired & wireless internet. Had to have the TV replaced, and the replacement was bad also. Also would have liked to have a door to the dressing area of the bathroom.”

• They don't change the sheets even if you give them notice you would like sheets changed.

“Hotel staff is nice. They just need to work on the sheet changing thing and room supplies (cups, ice bucket, quantity of towels and change the sheets if you request it).”

“This hotel is not at all bad. A very nice pool and accommodating staff. The wireless internet connection is not very good but when I complained I was transferred to a room with a modem and hence the performance was excellent. The hotel is in an older section of town with an outdated Denny's next door. However for the price it is a reasonable place to stay.”

• I found the heated pool great for an evening swim. The complementary breakfast buffet self-catered Belgian Waffles were yummy.
• I had trouble using the remote channel to access the cable TV, but managed using the controls on the TV.

“I felt very comfortable staying at La Quinta. It exceeded expectations by having a beautiful flowered courtyard with a fountain and heated swimming pool, a great breakfast buffet, and a room without hidden charges for using the telephone. I took advantage of the coffee maker although there was coffee all the time in the air conditioned lobby. The location was easy to get to and for me to manage getting around the area. I used the PSTA unlimited ride bus pass, an enterprise weekend leisure car rental to get to Condalesi State Park in Dunedin (ranked 1 in the United States for it's beaches) and the enormous Wagonwheel Weekend Flea Market on a rainy day for entertainment and shopping specials. I found the Golden Corral buffet restaurant in Largo to be great and exceptional southern cooking, seafood and steak for Sunday dinner. The diet chocolate pudding with diet whipped cream and diet chocolate cookies were a special treat.”

• The overall cleanliness and friendliness of staff. The amazing courtyard outside my door with the fountain and pool.
• Bad wireless internet reception in room and the carpet in the room was not so fresh.

“Lovely hotel with a beautiful courtyard! I think the courtyard was my favorite aspect of this hotel. The overall fresh paint and cleanliness was a nice touch. The employees were friendly and helpful.”

“The Courtyard and Pool were very nice and pretty. The included continental breakfast was adequate. You can make your own waffles, also offered fruit muffins, cereal. Room was not ideal but expected for price we paid. Staff Friendly. Neighborhood was not best however I did not feel threatened in any way.”

“Dreadful room with dirty sheets on both beds. Even though the room faced the pool area, there were no privacy curtains. The room smelled bad. The parking lot was full of pot holes.”

• We were NOT accommodated when our toilet stopped working and overflowed in our room.

“Overall, for the price it was what we expected. If you did not get to breakfast early (6-9), you did not get anything but toast to eat. They ran out of fruit, muffins, milk for cereal, and yogurt. When the toilet overflowed in our room, the front desk was at a loss on what to do. He came up and looked at it and said yep, it's broke. We had to wait until the next morning to have it fixed. I had to step over the towels on the floor we used to sop up the water with to take a shower. We were told they had no rooms available to switch to, but there were other La Quintas in the area they should have called to find us a room. We were very upset how this was handled.”

“Hotel is set far enough from road to be pleasant. It maintains a superior heated pool environment. The room I received for a long stay was incorrect - smoking and 2 beds. This was a problem. They serve a good breakfast but the room is overcrowded and understaffed.”

• Nice location for access to beaches, food, downtown, interstate highways and other attractions.
• Housekeeping kept forgetting to give clean towels, sheets, drinking cups and not cleaning room daily.

“Nice location, wonderful pool, fitness room, continental breakfasts, free daily newspapers, beautifully landscaped. If you forget any items, Example: gifts to take back home with you, consider them gone. Hotel was contacted same day as checked out, items left in room, offered to pay to have them shipped/returned but would not accept offer so gifts were kept by hotel.”

• Outdated/unclean room and did not feel safe in that area.

“La Quinta Inn in St. Pete's needs to improve their rooms. They should eliminate smoking rooms for environmental issues. I experienced an unpleasant cigarette smelly room while I was staying for the first night, found hairs on the bed sheet, and requested to change for a cleaner room.”

• My first room was very unattractive and smelly but they moved us into a much better room.

“I like this hotel for the price I can get it for. I do love the courtyard and fountain and the breakfast is pleasant. Some of the rooms are not very nice because this is the second time I had to move because the room was too smoky smelling and worn out looking.”

“Hotel is conveniently located off US-275. Denny's restaurant is next door and a good Indian restaurant and an American style restaurant located in Ramada next door. You'll need your own transportation to get around. This is an old style motel with a lower/middle-class clientele. It is clean and pool area is attractive with lounge chairs, tables and umbrellas. Management staff tries very hard to please its guests.”

“Very clean, comfortable, modern room with all standard amenities and nicely maintained grounds. The motel is literally an oasis in the middle of a busy, commercial/industrial area. It is remarkably quiet except for the noise incidental to grounds keeping. This La Quinta inn is not located particularly close to any tourist attractions or downtown St. Petersburg and you have to drive quite a distance to any decent restaurant - but it's a very nice motel at an exceptional price.”

• Kind of over-all seedy location. Room over priced.

“The stay was okay. Other than for a handicap ramp way in the back of the property, the facility is not at all ADA compliant. No easy access (I had a visitor in a motorized wheel chair). Second floor is off limits to anyone disabled. Smoking and non-smoking rooms are interspersed; a few times I had cigarette smoke coming into the room through the AC unit until I asked the person standing outside to please move. That was irritating.”

“When I mentioned the slow wifi, the first response was apathy. We have problems with that. Called back later and got another hostess and was offered a free night's stay at any La Quinta to compensate me. The room looked clean, but smelled musty with a lingering odor of something. I thought it might have been a "wet dog" smell, but when I stayed at a different La Quinta the next night on my freebie (a much nicer one) there was the same smell, only much less strong.”

• The cleaning of the room was below average for this hotel. Previously stayed here. The bathroom was moldy.

“This is a very nice hotel. The room was below its normal standards of clean. The bathroom shower was moldy... the shower floor was grungy! It had not been properly cleaned for a long time.”

“The room had a musty odor. There is no tub, just a shower area in the bathroom, with just a trickle of water. The desk was often unmanned, I called for a wake up call and nobody answered the telephone. When I finally got somebody, the next morning, they failed to give me a wake up call.”

“I was in a group of 4 college students on spring break. Our stay was quite enjoyable and there were no major complaints. The hotels location is excellent, right in the center of saint Pete, and the staff was nice. We stayed for 3 nights and the only complaints I had was there was 1 bug was spotted in our room one afternoon and there was no mini fridge. Still, I would stay there again if we go back next year. The rooms were nice and clean and had no outstanding wear and tear. It would be fine for a family stay in my opinion. All in all we had an enjoyable stay.”

• When asked for a refund they said no.

“We arrived and the area appeared unsafe, unusual people hanging around. The hotel rooms were not clean hairs in the sheets, other goobers ion the sheets. We told the front desk we cannot stay. We gave up this money so we could have clean accommodations somewhere else. We would appreciate a refund or some type of compensation. Please let us know. ”
